Got mine (the 50edrive model) some months ago. All black without bronze accentuations. In that all dark combination, it looks like a batmobile because it softens the angles and the front and make it looks more elegant and aggressive. Otherwise, great driving experience, super suspensions, lots of power, great interior and space. And the autonomy is really great in optimal weather conditions. I achieved almost 600km on highway (120km/h).
I picked up an iX50 a few weeks ago, also Dark Graphite with the Shadowline trim. So in love with this car. Such a great automobile. Comfortable, efficient, and actually RELAXING to drive with its self-driving functions.
Great video as always. Just wish BMW would change the design language. The front of most BMW’s these days are hideous. Thankfully they seem to have made the new 3 series better. The interior looks great though.
BMW is fucking killing it!! Yes, the front design can be polarising, but who the heck cares. An amazing piece of engineering feat this!! PS: German Autobahns are insane..
Driving an electric BMW in front of a Tesla plant? 😲 Wow, Thomas. Those few millimeters you grew significantly boosted your confidence. 😂 Bad-boy Thomas is here. 😂
ahhh,# clicking sound love!! very close cousin to awesome/ reassuring door closing. double ahhh. Thomas you will always be my #1 car reviewer, had me at door closing sound waaay back when...Keep up the fine work brodda
Always appreciate how great your videos are! Thanks for the comment on the Harmon Kardon sound system, I just placed an iX 2023 order and evidently the BW system is only available on the M60i for 2023, but your opinion makes me more excited to hear the HK system
Nice that they state the range for summer and winter, I could definitely live with 250 miles in the winter. I would always have to walk up to it from the back though, the front is hideous.
Picking up the ix50 tomorrow in the US. The one I selected just happens to have bronze titanium trim including same on the front grill. Wife thinks it’s a bit too bling but I’m starting to like it
It just looks like bad origami, hopefully BMW work their front designs. The new 7 series is a good example of improved design, bold yet classy. Still need that balance perfected.

Thx for the review Thomas & Brian. I wasn't impressed when I had an up close visit/show with the ix 50 3 mths ago The materials certainly did not scream "Luxury" to me AND to have a huge moonroof that doesn't open is a disappointment to me. Plus when the rear door is open those rear lights look like a Cullinan and not in a beautiful manner. The new screen layout looks good but I would like the passenger to be able to fool around with the music when needed. I'd like to test the M60 b/c I am a performance enthusiast and hopefully the top trim level with offer that luxury feel. In Vancouver a loaded version of the M60 w/B&W 1615 Watt 30 speaker Diamond sound system & other goodies= $136,700 Cdn Alas there is a 2 yr waiting list. Making a car is very hard, but the exterior design is probably the easiest part. I'm not sure how they managed to do the hard part well, but the easy part very, VERY poorly.
Battery electric car is much easier to make. That's why there are so many BEV OEMs in China, but they still cannot make any decent ICE cars in China. BMW must have assigned their least talented engineers and designers for BEV project.
@@realchimera Battery electric car isnt easier to make, from a mechanical standpoint its simpler but battery weight forces to develop other parts even more. China is developing BEV because its the next best thing and they have lot of minerals for it.
Great video as always. Appreciate that you think they iX3 is a better value for our money. Wondering what car do you drive personally? Do you drive an EV?
I was in a dark tunnel and I saw some split headlights coming towards me. I thought “Oh, the new i7!”. It drove past, and it was a Citroen C4 Cactus. The new split headlights on the 7/i7 and X7 are vile, unoriginal and indistinguishable from a car that costs nearly 3 times less.
Ugly Grill! My recent stop at the BMW Dealership, I asked a sales guy why that grill was ever approved? The sales guy said : 'Everybody likes it'. On my way out to pickup my car, that I had in for service. I told the service guy (name anonymous) what the sales guy said. He replied, 'they were told to say that.'
I don't think anyone thought virtualized switches and austere interiors was something people would accept, Sadly, everybody in the car industry now is following Tesla’s trend. Imagine if your screen suddenly goes black
not going to lie , i dont like the exterior design language from both EV SUV lineup from BMW , and EV sedans lineup from Mercedes hope they do something in facelift later
Before criticising bmw design you should read what the designers had to say about it. BMW is trying to make their cars stand out more because many of their customers who actually BUY the cars and dont just talk about them want to stand out. You dont make profit by ppl liking your car but arent buying it.
How would you compare the iX M60 versus the X7 M60i? I know they are very different cars, but what would you choose if it was your money? I would love to know your thoughts as I am about to order one of the two. Thanks!
Your content is always top notch! This car seems to check a lot of boxes in a fight against Tesla. I do think the picture-in-picture of two angles of your driving wasn't great... Got dizzy watching you make the u-turn in the parking lot.
BMW is the most German German carmaker out there today. They've stuck to the core German values of what German carmakers are supposed to be. High quality, great technology and proper execution unlike Mercedes that's gone really low quality on the interiors and a lot of the time, poor executions of certain aspects. The only thing I wish BMW could take from Mercedes is the column shifter and the auto hold feature where you press the brake pedal quickly to auto hold when you want instead of having a button that either keeps it on or off.
Cant believe it but finally growing on me, by that I mean looks wise its going from yuck territory to neutral like “oh there another car” definitely not yet ooh wow love that 😄
@@autogefuehl yes, last year I shipped out my Tesla Model 3 to Copenhagen, and couldn’t charge it. Also SIM card didn’t work. Tesla was manufactured in the US, but the BMW is being manufactured in Germany, that is why I thought it might work. But thank you for your reply, I appreciate. BMW is in the US is cheaper than in dealerships in Germany, so it makes sense to ship overseas from the USA
@@SeattleNonameI think the charging port and plug is slightly different in Europe than in the USA. Such a pity that globally we couldn’t agree on one style of universal charger port design. It would have been nice to do the European Delivery at the BMW Welt and take a European holiday in your new iX, prior to it being shipped out to the USA. I did the European Delivery in 2011 on a BMW 335d and it was fantastic to get to know my new BMW on the terrific roads it was designed for.
People are crying about the front end of this car. But in reality it doesn't matter at all instead it's great or its a pleasure looking at it in front of you. I like this design, it serves the purpose it's only ugly mostly to those that don't even afford to buy one. I also can't afford it but still I like loving it. Great review by the way Thomas.
Hi Thomas thanks for another epic review as always u did remarkable job I have one question if u don't mind what did have I mean how come u gain some height lol love and greetings from Toronto Canada
As always, I enjoy your in-depth review of the BMW. On the other hand, I don’t like the design of the exterior, I don’t like the dash, it will be a plan to keep clean, the steering wheel is a joke, and the range is not leading class. I am not going to even mention the double kidney grill or mono grill as you mentioned. Whatever you call it, that grill is an extremely bad design, especially on an an EV vehicle. All in all, BMW missed another great opportunity to take the lead in this market space. Nothing else to add. But you guys do a super job reviewing the vehicle.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
Looks grwon on me - only ugly angle is side of a car - to long front, especially if there is no massive frunk! Other than that - 5 m long, only 5 seats, not the biggest trunk and too expensive - proper modern electric SUV but if it shakes its back... briliant:)
btw, feel like I will have a big Tom Sellick magnum pi moustache wrap for that ugly arsed faux grill, gotta have some fun absurd reaction to the absurd grill bmw has gifted us!
This is the opposite of LESS IS MORE strategy. Everything seems done well and no question about quality but there is no more passion with such car...they have to shake the car to bring something new...I have no idea where all this will end as it's so ridiculous.

Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html
Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
oh another Beaver Machine Werke
Biggest news story here: Thomas grew taller! 😎
haha =)
I would look good in one of these cars.
Looks grwon on me - only ugly angle is side of a car - to long front, especially if there is no massive frunk! Other than that - 5 m long, only 5 seats, not the biggest trunk and too expensive - proper modern electric SUV but if it shakes its back... briliant:)
Team Titan Bronze - especially with that red - very Iron Man 😃😃😃😂😂
I used to think this was the ugliest new car on sale but than BMW dropped the new 7/i7 🤣
Is that the new Beaver BMW?
0:29 I love this part. LETS GO!
23:34 :D kkkkk
😂👍
Team titan bronze !
shadow line please
Now Thomas I Love This Car Much better than that Lamborghini to show we I think Lamborghini
😄
Great car and great review as always ... but i still don’t get it why all this cars don’t have a 22 kW AC charging 🤷🏻♂️❓
Thanks 🙏
awesome car. explicitly :)
18:30 I bet women will love that feature 😅
Fugly, but at least it's electric 🤷♂️
Mmm bronze accents, instead of copper perhaps? Wonder where they got that idea?
Stiffer. A+
It needs ROUND LIGHTS upfront with a SMALLER GRILLE.
The beaver teeth grille is VERY EDSEL-ISH.
Side profile is giving me Nissan Murano.
I'm really trying to like these "new" BMWs, but so far it ain't working. Great video as usual though.
This hideous 🦫 Beaver lost to the 🇪🇺 European Car of the Year - the KIA EV6... BMW needs to be rescued!
Menu shortcuts!! By pulling down on main menu…
i want to drive this car
Thomas the Great :)
😎👍
camera cleaning! lol
I am afraid even to hear the price of this model.
btw, feel like I will have a big Tom Sellick magnum pi moustache wrap for that ugly arsed faux grill, gotta have some fun absurd reaction to the absurd grill bmw has gifted us!
This is the opposite of LESS IS MORE strategy.
Everything seems done well and no question about quality but there is no more passion with such car...they have to shake the car to bring something new...I have no idea where all this will end as it's so ridiculous.
Very nice! BMW will sell many.
"They need space for sensors"
Sounds like an Apple excuse to me 👀😂
YIKES THE FRONT END...WAY TOO GAWDY ! TRYING TO COPY LEXUS DESIGN FLAW ! GREAT VEHICLE THOUGH !
