I don't think the nk gov will talk about defectors on the news, but they probably have contacts saying "oh the border is full of military men". The defectors kinda all took this route, im not surprised if they talked about how they defected and how its the same.
Of course it will be harder. Every strategies of defectors have been publicized. NK knows everything now. NK will not just sit and watch like watching a movie, will it?
Bruh, these methods are the most logical and feasible ways to escape the country. Do you seriously think North Korean government never thought of these and are googling "how to catch defectors"?
NK already knew all of this. It simply allows some people to escape, because it would be too expensive to shut the border down fully. Letting some people out is also a good safety valve. Inevitably those who escape will be those most creative, bravest and most dissatisfied with the regime - prime material for internal rebellions, in other words. Let a few leave and you've starved the would-be rebels of their finest, who instead risk life and limb to starve the potential of any rebellion a little more.
The sad thing is that it works in China's favor for NK to exist. If SK had their democratic freedom and the military of NK it would be a serious danger to China right on its doorstep like that.
@@McHrozni They risk life and limb for freedom - it's easy for you to mock that from the safety of your own home in a free country when you never had to pay for that with your own skin. Their responsibility is to themselves - the concept of patriotism in an overdone western concept, more so than anywhere else in the US. That same patriotism becomes fanaticism under the likes of the Kim regime, that is precisely why they have no choice but to run - because being so much as suspected of dissenting against the govmt will get you a prime spot in an internment camp. Being known to have committed treason against the regime will just get you dead, and everyone around you. This isn't cops and robbers, or cowboys and indians - this is the grim, cruel real life these people have to live in 24/7.
It's a way more precarious situation than a lot of people realize. I can't speak for everyone else out there (nor do I claim to be an expert), but here in the U.S. a lot citizens say that we should just invade the DPRK and depose the government. But those same people don't understand how dangerous that would be for both sides. For example, if the North Korean borders were breached, many (if not all) of the people currently being held in their internment camps would be killed immediately to preserve resources and food. There's also the issue of China not wanting an influx of North Korean refugees crossing their borders to escape the chaos. On top of the DPRK being a "buffer zone" to keep U.S./European influence away from Chinese borders. Basically, there's many ways that trying to handle the situation can go wrong and very few ways that it can go right. Sorry for the long comment.

One man just has a whole land with a lot of people as his personal toy. Just like Turkmenistan for example. And the saddest thing - their victims will never get justice
But the sad thing is that there are foreign countries and governments who have business with these dictators, both with the North Korean regime and with the Turkmenistan regime. China and Russia are the biggest supporters of these dictators and do support them, because they benefit from it.
@@angeldreamzzz9692 I think if you google it you will find relevant information. North Korea is probably the most hard-core communist regime in the world, and so is China (if not as strict and hard-core as North Korea). China is also a communist country, so they have of course a lot of common ideologically. Russia is a former communist country but they still have quite some of that communist heritage. So ideologically and based on politics these countries have a lot in common. As both Russia and China have veto right in the UN, basically every time a UN resolution wants to condemn North Korea, it is blocked by Russia and China, because they want to protect and back-up North Korea. Beside politics, they also have a lot of business together. North Korea has some mineral resources (coal and more) and also some natural resources (rivers and seas from where they get fish) that they trade with Russia and China. So Russia and China don't want this relation to disappear, because they get it cheap from North Korea as they can't sell to many other countries. Lot of people in North Korea are starving and have hard times finding enough food on everyday basis, yet the North Korean regime puts most of its revenues on its army and its nuclear weapons. For the money they get by selling their resources to China and Russia they buy materials to develop more weapons and buy more equipment for their army, mainly from China and Russia. China and Russia want to keep this business no matter what. They only see the money, and not the harsh brutality of the North Korean regime. The Turkmenistan regime is not as brutal as the North Korean one, but they also have some oppression and it's basically a dictatorship (although perhaps not as harsh as in NK). They too have plenty of business with China and Russia. Turkmenistan has also some natural resources, mainly natural gas and perhaps some oil, that they export till China and other countries. I assume China gets this gas cheap (because few other countries do business with the Turkmen dictatorship). Russia has their own gas, but they do business with Turkmenistan including other products. So both Russia and China support Turkmenistan. Also, geographically both Turkmenistan and NK are in the same geographical area as Russia and China. North Korea shares borders with China and Russia. So not only politically, but also geographically they do share some interests. China and Russia don't want change in either of these countries, because it could spread to their own countries and inspire their own citizens to start protesting and demanding change. For these reasons, China and Russia support Turkmenistan and North Korea and several other dictatorships, because they both benefit from it.
@@angeldreamzzz9692 No problem. My honor. Sadly, politics can often get dirty. Some regimes and leaders at least try to make a good image, but some don't even care. You actually think these are the routes they take? You must be a bit dim. These are obviously not the routes they take, they're not stupid, they know what they're doing
No
Those are old routes, and if you succeed you're stuck in china for years, they probably mostly don't take those routes anymore.
+ i don't doubt a lot of defectors have news and contact from people there to say what's happening.
If there's one thing Kim underestimates all the time, it's human creativity.

Its a matter of lobbying and money, these routes were already known by the NK authorities long ago
Rookie mistake from the BBC
Makes me wonder why on Earth is the world tiptoeing in that direction.

But the sad thing is that there are foreign countries and governments who have business with these dictators, both with the North Korean regime and with the Turkmenistan regime. China and Russia are the biggest supporters of these dictators and do support them, because they benefit from it.
@@sarkaniemi Wow how do I learn more
@@angeldreamzzz9692 I think if you google it you will find relevant information.
@@sarkaniemi wow thank you for writing so much. This is crazy!
@@angeldreamzzz9692 No problem. My honor. Sadly, politics can often get dirty. Some regimes and leaders at least try to make a good image, but some don't even care. No doubt that people in North Korea are suffering. That's one of the most brutal regimes in the world. I wish we could all live in a free world, but I'd say we are far from that. I don't know how much longer the people of North Korea have to wait to get their freedom. I wish everyone could enjoy freedom.
This is like GDR all over again.
