🥭 PYB rarely makes sense for me. The low-dollar quarterly or monthly credits are always annoying. But it makes sense from the lender's perspective. They want you to either spend more or leave value on the table. The house wants to win.
When PYB was 1.5 CPP for restaurants during COVID, it was great. Now that lockdowns are lifted and you can travel again, doesn't seem to make sense to use points for less than 1.5 CPP
Its a great analogy, who goes quarterly to a hotel.. this is a bad business idea to penny pinch, why stop there they can say 20$ a month to stay at hilton instead.
Hey Sebby, just a thought. 🥭my wife and I are trying to go to Japan using Amex points and it seems like like ANA is devaluing them. Could be good to go over strategy on how to travel there on this or your other channel. Thanks for your content.
🥭 I’ve already made use of my Hilton credits for two quarters. It just so happened to coincide with stats I already had planned. Otherwise it would be tricky to justify.
I applied for the wrong chase ink business card (the unlimited) and then immediately applied for the cash card. They couldn't take back my 1st application so now I have two hard pulls and will have to overpay my taxes to reach the sign-up bonus on both cards.
I sorta made the same mistake. I got the amex green and then the chase prefereed within a month and half of each other. But I was able to pay ahead - auto/home/health insurance premiums, tune up/tires, yearly gym membership, paid up on utilities for three months, and will pay the lawn service from April-Oct. At the grocery check out, grabbed 2 Publix Gift Cards for $500 each(different trips) since I shop there anyway. No manufactured spend, just normal spend---that was expedited. Makes it easier, now that is off my plate for most of the year. Then the points should post by May/June just in time for beach trip.
We have the Aspire and no AF honors card. If i did get the Hilton Business it would be to support our Hilton Setup. The Aspire in a Hilton is x34. Or 17% if a point was only .005.. so if i spent $200 on a hilton with the Aspire that would be $34 in future hilton points use.. The Hilton business is almost $200 and has the 4 quarterly credits of $60. For $240. So it costs $195 for 240 worth of hilton value with the business.. that i have to do in 4 quarters. Or It costs $200 for 234 worth of hilton value just using an Aspire.. I wanted the hilton Business as a support for our use. I dont see any value.
I don’t know where you got that info on the Altitude Reserve problem with 3x on mobile wallets, but you’re a bit off. The problem only occurred for the month of January and not for everyone. It still hasn’t been fixed retroactively, but everyone I know who’s complained to them on the issue has gotten more “bonus” points back than they lost. Again, it’s been fixed going forward since about Feb. 1. FYI I love your news bits, just wanted to keep you accurate on this one! 🥭
🥭 1. No, 2. Stuff that I find a decent deal on, 3. Very dumb change. Would love to see you do a deep dive on the Credit Card Competition Act or the recently announced interchange fee settlement.
🥭 I will cancel my Hilton Biz and pivot to hilton personal cards in the future. For the meantime, I’m working on Chase Ink cards first and then will go on amex back again
🥭 If I don't want to deal with gift cards and don't have any planned stays, would visiting a nearby resort to eat at a restaurant trigger the credit? 🤔
I just cancelled my Hilton Business card before the new higher rate hit this month. I wasn't get much benefit but was willing to hold at $95. The rate was the sign to release the card to let something new come into my life. 😂
🥭I liked my Hilton biz card. I’m waiting for the replacement card which I heard is metal, we’ll see. I still like the card I might keep it, the only downside for me is that priority pass is no longer offered I liked the 10 pass visit
I have the Hilton Honors Business card and just published my first credit card video about it-that I had filmed BEFORE they made all of the changes! AH. So frustrating. I called and am having the new metal card sent, but we'll see if I keep it now. I'm torn on the changes. (going to do a follow-up after getting the new card in the mail) Also, I want to thank you for all of the work you put into your videos - I've learned a ton from watching you over the past couple of years - since I started on this credit card journey. Thanks, man, Jeff.
The Hilton Buz card changes worked out for me. I’ll get 3 $50 Hilton gift cards for free before my annual fee is due and just cancel it then. No longer a keeper card for me.
🥭🥭🥭My Amazon offer was only 10% up to $10. Maybe because last time I got 50% up to $80 and used all of it. FYI the offer will also apply to many 3rd party gift cards (excluding Visa/MC)
I feel like PP needs to scale back anyway. They were giving out their memberships like candy with basically any card that an AF. Hopefully now they can limit that down to the top tier cards like the Platinum, CSR, VX, and a few others. It doesn't really make sense that the PP Select was $600 or whatever it is per year but you could just use a CC that had a lower AF and get it anyway. Does it suck for those who have cheaper cards? Yes, but also they are way overcrowded in the States. When we were in Tokyo HND in mid March the PP lounge there reached capacity while we were there. So even an international airport got full in March NOT during cherry blossom season. I can't imagine during the summer or later spring.
🥭 You bought physically bounded paper books? #Boomer I didn't think about "pre-pay" during a hotel stay on multiple cards. That is a great idea to extract the value out of the credits. Waiting for the Equinox credit on these Amex Hilton cards.
🥭 Regarding the Hilton Business card. This may be a win for companies with employees who use the card. (It is a business card.) While I hate to lose the two free nights, 5 points per dollar on the first $100k will result in an extra 200k in Hilton points. Previously, it was 3 points per dollar. Assuming .6 cents per point, that is an additional $1200. $1200 value in points is easier to use than two free night certs
A footnote for the SoFi credit card - (I have this card and looked at the T&C as I was almost interested) and it looks like to get the 2.2% back you must have 1000 (can be spilt I believe) deposit per month? Despite this, I still went with just using my Alliant Visa Siggy for all general categories. ❤
PYB does not make sense for the CSP or the CFF. The only benefit of Hilton is that they have the 2nd largest footprint in the USA. But I feel IHG properties are not far behind. So the IHG card is pretty straight forward in getting value. And if you can stay in one at your usual destinations, Hyatt has the best hotels and loyalty program. I would rather now put spend on my WOH card to get 2 nights toward status every $5K in spend then drop $15K to get free night on the Surpass. AMEX and Hilton are starting to lose interest for me.
The best thing about the Hilton fee cards was the free night credits. Why would anybody, moving forward choose Hilton Business over Surpass? Ruined? They killed it. You can get the Hilton Credit buying gift cards or stays. Who cares? Making up the AF is not why people get cards. The free night credits are the linchpins of the Hilton fee cards. Lose them and you lose your customers.
Hey Sebastian, quick question unrelated to the video, how can you keep getting new cards and not get denied due to having enough credit on existing cards already and not enough usage? 🥭🥭🥭🥭
🥭 I'm so glad I recently canceled Hilton Business and got myself the Surpass. On that note, Sebby, do you know if upgrading Surpass to Aspire changes the anniversary? If I got Surpass in March 2024 and ugrade to Aspire in July 2025, when is the Aspire's anniversary in 2026? March or July? Thanks!
I guess it's time to cancel the Hilton Business card. I have 3 Aspires anyway. Hmmm, what should I replace it with considering I can only have 5 AMEX cards.
@@yurig2530 Yeah I got one of each of the Hilton cards. I got an upgrade offer for one of them to become an Aspire. And I just asked to upgrade my Surpass to Aspire because I have some travel planned. I’m thinking I may downgrade one or two of them after this year if I don’t anticipate a big trip for next year.

instead of overpaying taxes, you should have used buying groups and refund hack
