I'm pleasantly amazed that the fan gave David Ross the ball back. They would've been in their rights to keep the ball. I hope she got some nice memorabilia after the game.
Honestly being able to say that David Ross accidentally gave you a ball in a playoff game after forgetting the outs on live TV is pretty much just as good as keeping the ball itself. Dozens of balls are tossed up every game but thats a rarity
Especially compared to most of these. Throwing the ball away after 2 outs is not being focused and arguing a call while play is still going on is completely immature for a professional athlete.
Agreed, but you gotta either call time or give the ball to your catcher if you're gonna take the time to argue... I love Coney but this was a bone headed move, even though, you're right, he's right.
@me mememe Lmao @ this sad little kid who hasnt uploaded anything and barely made his account last week spends his time trolling people in the comments section of a baseball video xD Grow up little boy.
To be fair, the interaction with the player is probably going to make a much longer lasting memory than just receiving a ball. He probably also got a ball or a bat after the game as well. Most of the major league organizations are pretty generous to fans if they get slighted somehow.
I was at that game and at that point, Matt Harvey (back when he was still “the dark knight of Gotham”), was pitching a perfect game at that point. Some of us thought this was a stall tactic to throw him off. He ended up going 6 2/3rds perfect and a full 9 shutout, getting a no decision as the Mets walked off in the 10th.
I've been on job sites where there's a loud speaker warning system. They have all these codes they teach you, and during outages the things go off all the time for testing. I just look around, and if nobody's running, go back to work. Might help ballplayers - if you've caught an out and nobody's running, the inning's not over... ;)
I understand he is a lil in the field but that’s bullshit, he is running to first base, don’t throw the ball at him if ur trying to get him out, is the runner suppose to look at the ball thrower? No, that’s bullshit
When I pause it at 3:50 just as the ball makes contact with the bottom of the #7... that ball is directly above the white line and the player is already on the bag. The throw appears to have been made in an attempt to get a ruling of interference, instead of making an honest "best attempt" at getting the out. Also, Rule 5.09(a)(11) states that "first base itself (the bag) is outside the running lane, the runner is permitted by rule to step out of the running lane for the purpose of touching first base." umpirebible(dot)com/index.php/rules-base-running/basepath-running-lane
@@nicolashendricks If you went straight to first base, you would be actually touching the grass. I think that field had the grasses put at weird location. Even if it was intentional, it is fine at long as it is under 3 feet.
The only reason is because he got to the base before or at the same time the ball hit him. If he hadn't gotten to the base in time, because he didn't establish himself in the runner's lane, it would have definitely been interference.
You gotta step on the base right at the front edge for it to be as fast as possible. It's not the same as running across the finish line because hitting the bag towards the back of it is inefficient and stepping over it isnt even close
I think that was legal actually. The runner is allowed to establish his baseline he ran inside the whole way and the ball still hit him square in the back when he was in line with the 1st base. I could be wrong about this rule tho I’m no expert
2:55 You can see the mother literally pushing the kid to give the ball back. Excuse me? Bitch, it is not your kid’s fault the outfielder fucked up and was hesitant about giving back a real MLB used baseball to a player. I get you are Mets fans, but c’mon. Don’t hit the kid for something that was not his fault, yell at your team!

That's what I was thinking, she gave it up so easy!
I like that the guy next to her was holding up two fingers to Ross. That's how Ross knew it was only two strikes
I think it was the NLCS too so that’s a awesome thing to get from a playoff game and they immediately gave it up
Honestly being able to say that David Ross accidentally gave you a ball in a playoff game after forgetting the outs on live TV is pretty much just as good as keeping the ball itself. Dozens of balls are tossed up every game but thats a rarity

To be fair that pitch to Jason Heyward was right down the middle 1:28
That was one of the most strike pitches I’ve ever seen in my life. That’s why coaches should have unlimited chances to challenge a call.
I know right when I saw that I was like strike
Imagine being a kid at a baseball game thinking you’re getting a ball just to have to give it back to the catcher 😂😂
To be fair, the interaction with the player is probably going to make a much longer lasting memory than just receiving a ball. He probably also got a ball or a bat after the game as well. Most of the major league organizations are pretty generous to fans if they get slighted somehow.
Or have the player actually snatch it back from you
That had me dying 😂
How did he miss that call at 1:50 holy shit
Cone is 100% in the right.... thats total BS
That was absurd. How was he safe?
He is 100% in the right to argue, but not with the ball. That was his mistake.
Can argue once you make sure the play is over though....that was so dumb of him
@me mememe there where probably two outs, so that was the last out and he didn’t think he was safe
Can you touch the side of the bag? I got to give it to the umpire. It’s hard to tell from where he was
1:29, he was just so shocked that pitch wasn’t called a strike
