Paper Mario the origami king comes out in 64 days which was probably intentional on Nintendo's part.

I never played the first 2 so I wouldn't know but I do agree they are amazing games (I watched game plays) the 3rd aka super paper mario is one of my favorite games in general it's given me so many good memories and even made me cry when I was younger, the 4th aka sticker star was a huge let down to little me when I heard about it i was like "yay I can't wait to see new characters like mr.l" but instead was disappointed, I never played color splash all the way I only got to play it at my cousins but I did watch game plays and I can say it's alright, and finally after witnessing the trailer for the origami king all I can say is I'm actually happy to a paper mario game that looks dark cause we haven't gotten a dark game since super paper mario so I hope this one is good plus I hope we get more characters/pixels unlike the last 2 games were it was just toads.
JAD // Jeevan & Arjan Dhanota ok in my opinion colour splash was a wonderful it had some problems I’m looking at you Kiwanio temple but it was so fun beautiful graphics mostly wonderful maps like bloo bay beech and I didn’t mind the battle system sticker star was the worst by far though
Hi y'all. Color splash was definitely an improvement to sticker star and I enjoyed the game and completed it. Sticker star was so bad that I quit midway-ish at the squid ship wreck area thingy

@@CheesyLizzy I hated the fighting style so much. It became very annoying ever time I bumped into a enemy. They just try to stretch the game longer. SPM didn't have that fighting style yet it thrived. I miss that game so much

PM1 - A fun spiritual sequel to SMRPG set in the Mushroom Kingdom with a charming aesthetic
TTYD - An expanded version of PM1 in a new world, with much of the original charm and an intriguing new land with it's own dark lore
SPM - A divisive departure from the originals game-mechanic wise. Though still charming and whimsical, has an almost Book of Revelations-esque lore and rather deeply emotional character backgrounds.
...Okay, I haven't played the other two, but Color Splash looks enjoyable!
SS - Battle system sucks, and there’s like 2 new characters. Everything is bland. Bowser kidnaps peach reeee
CS - Battle system is a little bit better, but still is pretty bad. Graphics are amazing. There is only one unique character, but the brilliant writing of this game makes it easy to overlook that. Bowser accidentally mixes all 6 paint colors and becomes possessed and infused with the power of black paint, and proceeds to suck prism island dry of it’s color.
OK - It looks like a return to form, while keeping the amazing graphics of color splash.

@Pen Bashiro, MD I disagree. Super Paper Mario, though losing the battle system, is still considered by many to be one of the better Paper Mario games versus Sticker Star and Color Splash, which still had a form of RPG battles. The battles are somewhat important, but what made the first three games great was their deep stories that kept you invested in the game even though it could be slow at times. Sticker Star and Color Splash threw that all away, replacing the majority of characters with toads and using cheap excuses for stories that were about as deep as "Bowser stole the princess, now you have to defeat him to get her back." At the end of it all, Paper Mario is not a fast-paced series, it's the story that keeps the game fresh and alive. In the case of Sticker Star and Color Splash, they are both slow and bland.
Honestly. Ask anyone who has played Paper Mario: TTYD and ask them what they appreciated more, the battle system or the story. I'd be willing to bet good money that they'll say the story. Because even with the battle system, if there wasn't a story, would the game be worth playing, simply for the battle system? For me, at least, it wouldn't be.
@Pen Bashiro, MD Okay, that makes more sense, still, I stand by my point that I want OK to at least have a decent story. The fact that people only gave three flying fucks about the story after SS and Color Splash proves that the story is a major component of the game and is something essential to the Paper Mario series. I can see what you're saying though. I too enjoyed the battle system thoroughly. It's simple, but it works perfectly. However, i'd rather have a game with more of a story than SS and Color Splash and have a mediocre battle system than have a very flat and bland game with a terrific battle system.

The TTYD trailer shows an early version of the room to the right of the thousand-year door. There's a whole extra badge puzzle there that isn't in the final game.

It's very unlikely that they'll do that, there's no chance of getting two paper mario games in one year, even if one is a re-make; and all signs of Mario's 35th anniversary points to the 3D Mario games being remade

Paper mario 64 story's shit, the only thing saving it are the characters in the areas you explore and some bosses and partners that are interesting. (Like Bow or Tubba Blubba, can't remember anyone else other than that)

If only nintendo were to combine each and everyone of these core ideas, formats and what made each game pleasingly good, it could return Paper mario's games back to it's former roots

Wow that thousand year door trailer is so interesting!!! Look at those platforms way up there by the flying section at 1:11 absolutely none of that is there now.
You know, if coins were the progression in origami king, I think it could've been sick.
You just get so many from secrets and battles (especially those bonuses for no dmg etc)
then you drop some coins to permanently boost your performance.
*Also if you could connect diagonally, zig zag, and gain more bonuses or less depending on the enemy.*
I know it's an unpopular opinion but I actually really liked Sticker Star and Color Splash.
Sticker Star was my first 3DS game and I had a ton of fun with it. I also really enjoyed Color Splash. And I know they weren't like The Thousand Year Door, but I actually didn't mind. So wether the new game will revert back to the old days or be a sequel to the newer games, I am looking forward to it!

@@djskillx7008 I never had an N64 so I only watched a let's play of the original. I did play about half of TTYD, but I borrowed it from a friend and was never able to finish it because of it. Which is a shame..
@@Link-pr9id Everyone has different tastes. I do understand why people are so negative about those two, though. I guess I just didn't really grow up with the old games but more with the newer ones. I haven't played Paper Mario or TTYD but have seen a lot from both games, and instead have played SPM, SS and CS. When it comes down to simply playing the games they're a blast but the internet hates opinions
I remember not being able to get the sticker for the steering wheel for the boat and not playing the game because of months of trying to find the wheel

I have scrolled through the comments and I always see people saying stuff like "Omg TTYD was the best everything else is shit" or "SPM was awesome the others are all bad lmao" and I'm getting tired of it. The fanbase should not be separated but united, and learn that opinions are just opinions and that they're not doing any harm...
If you like 64 over TTYD or SPM that's fine. If you like TTYD over 64 or SPM that's fine. If you like SPM over 64 or TTYD that's fine too.
And people also gotta admit that the first trilogy of games was pure genius, and every one of them was gold. And I know SS and CS revceive lots of hate (not a fan of them either) but that doesn't mean we can't let people enjoy them too.
If someone's favorite Paper Mario game is Sticker Star then be it, but please stop shoving your opinions down other people's throat, instead try to discuss it and learn why other people like one game more than the other, and maybe it'll help you enjoy said game even more !
So if you find someone having a different opinion than yours, be respectful and kind.

so as someone who played origami king it was actually pretty good in regards to writing and story. the characters are cute and charming, the soundtrack is amazing and the bosses, while simple in design, are actually pretty decent
combat system could've been better (as could a lot of things really) and we were this 👌 close to going back to what made the og games so good but they missed... and with the comment the director tanabe made about not being able to make new and exciting characters anymore, I'm not too confident tbh.

I remember when I first played super paper mario I was in 3rd grade and I first beat the game when I was in 6th grade I replayed it in 7 and 8th and that's all I ever talked about when I was 8th grade I even once pinched a kids arm to death after he called it a stupid game and after that I stopped playing for a while fast forward I'm now in 12th grade I recently replayed it and I have never been more satisfied

Color Splash is a Masterpiece in my opinion. It's what Sticker Star should've been and it made the game a million times better. I just hate how everyone judges the game because "OH IT'S NOT LIKE THE FIRST TWO GAMES." Well guess what. Reality wanted to stop by and say that not everything needs to be the same. Making different formulas for these games are a good thing to do and can improve on them. I've only played SPM and Color Splash. But here's the thing.
The first game was the base that introduced how the game as a series would be like.
The second game improved on that style, but even though I never seen that much of the game, it does kinda feel like the same thing with only a few changes.
SPM took on a whole new formula and made it mainly platforming and even though they had to sacrifice some aspects of the older games, it was to make room for new ideas so the series wouldn't become bland and boring using the same things over and over again. This is why so many people also hate the NSMB series. I love the series even if it feels a bit repetitive and easy, but at least you can still have fun with the mechanics they do introduce to show that 2D games can still have new things and some features changed up to make it more special. But back to SPM, it introduced new ideas like the ability to play as multiple characters or go from 2D to 3D.
Then came Sticker Star. I haven't played it so I can't really have an opinion but I'm sure that it isn't THAT bad of a game. Just beaten to death by all the fans who just want to throw their anger at so they put that anger on Sticker Star. Now, from what I've seen of the game, I feel that it was the base of a good formula, just executed in not the best of ways. I like the battle system, the simplicity of the story, the crafty styled visuals to fit the PAPER Mario feel since it just feels weird being made of paper but living in a normal looking world.
Color Splash then came and used the same formula os Sticker Star, but made it into something that Sticker Star should've been like and made my favorite Paper Mario Game that I have played so far. The visuals are amazing, tye comedy is still on point, and even though the NPCs are mainly Toads, you gotta realize that they still can be unique and interesting despite how similar they look, the thing cards are much better than what I've seen from Sticker Star, and they story is a lot more, dare I say, COLORFUL.
Now we have arrived in 2020 with the newest game coming out in July. This game in my opinion has taken aspects from ALL previous Paper Mario games to create a brand new formula that mixes the old with the new styles. For example, we have partners and maybe something that relates to the old battle system like the first two games had. The story was darker like TTYD and SPM had. Then also took the art style and viduals of Sticker Star and Color Splash. It all came together to create this game.
So you see, all of these games are good in their own way and have helped to create other Paper Mario Games. Some might not have been the best in some ways, but was the base to create something better and we should appreciate all Paper Mario Games for what they have done for us. Even Sticker Star. You have to appreciate it too since it introduced the crafty art style that I love.
Couldn't have said it better. People need to relax and focus on the future and not be stuck on the past.
@@ImABeez Yeah. It's nice to recognize the benefits from the past games, but it shouldn't people shouldn't judge the games based only one the original two. I want to play all Paper Mario games and have only played SPM and Color Splash. I want to play the original two since I want to experience it all for the first time and not knowing that much on it. I know a couple of bosses and allies, but that's it.
I also want to play Sticker Star and see why everyone hates it, but also see if I like it, which I probably sould since I am fine with the card system from Color Splash.

That's where Color Splash came in. It's like Sticker Star, but improved where it was needed to make it more enjoyable.
Personally, I love the music of CS it's great and upbeat the plot was pretty great too :)

I never realized just how few Paper Mario games there were. This is one of Nintendo’s most known franchises, and yet it only has 5 games.

I remember watching the trailer for the original Paper Mario as a kid and being like “WTF is this garbage?” then a friend lend the game to me and I was instantly in love with the game being one of my favorites ever, only to be dethroned by Thousand Year Door some years later, really hyped for Origami King, I hope it takes me back to Paper Mario goodness!
So, the trailers for Sticker Star and Color Splash show off collecting multiple attacks, but Origami King doesn't. Not to mention, that Japanese battle system trailer shows off ONE jump and ONE hammer in the weapons sub-menu. Nothing more. If they kept the idea of collecting all of your attacks, there would be *much* more than that. Also, there's a different sub-menu for items.
I have hope.
