@@SylverReacts Actually, they had planned international promotions that got canceled cause of covid. They were also invited to coachella 2020. JYP had a show called Party People. He's a big fan, as you may know from his viral collab with Mamamoo at the 2019 MAMA award show. MMM killed it on Party People and it's well worth watching. When you said the stage production has gone up that was a clip of the opening song from the 2019 4 Seasons F/W concerts, Paint Me. That's the rearranged concert version of Paint Me with a new rap verse by Moonbyul and is aka the orchestral version. Paint Me is the theme song of the 4 Season 4 Color series and is one of MMM's vocal masterpieces. Mamamoo often does rearrangements or remixes of their hits for their concerts, award show appearances and other special events and many of them were featured on the 2 cd career retrospective album I Say Mamamoo: The Best (2021). ISMTB includes new recordings of 21 of their hits and favorite b-sides plus 2 new songs. Mamamoo wasn't at the tv show to support Hwasa for Twit - they were all there because the full group was simultaneously promoting Gogobebe. Their celebration of Hwasa's first win and the encore stage where they piled on Hwasa and did the song with her is adorable and heartwarming. The difference for me is that I like looking at K-pop MV's but I listen to very few K-pop groups, on a regular basis, it's mainly Mamamoo and their solo stuff along with other RBW groups on repeat.
They would be so loved if they only got some of the opportunities other groups get attentding US shows, or touring. That would give them more space out of anti feminism and critical SK to build further. But Corona killed their peak kinda and after the company didn't really pick up again and focused on their other groups.
Great video and updated. I saw a photo of solar from the Save me MV, which is a mamamoo+ song released only a couple months ago, as well as a clip of paint me live from the hwasa show last year. To add to their beginnings, they lived in a small room, roach infested and etc during their training because of the lack of money and they nearly disbanded until um oh ah yeh. They do in fact write some of their own music, moonbyul is the most credited female artist in south korea and today there is nothing from mamamoo that doesnt have at least one of them having control over the song, MVs, concepts and the rest of what goes into production and promotion.
One of the point I like the most about mamamoo is they are taking responsibilities. Kpop almost always make Idols the victim. 1) “Oh that’s outfit is bad” => that’s the stylist fault, the idols can’t choose their outfits, poor ABC. 2) “The lyrics is dumb and meaning less/ inappropriate” => That’s the company/writer fault, why company give them such bad songs, poor ABC 3) “That ABC is bad at singing/dancing” => the company didn’t train them enough. Poor ABC The idols are almost always the victim and the companies are always the villains. Those some aspect might be true but I think it is pathetic that you can’t have power over your own body, your own opinion and your own art works. How can you be the inspiration when everything you put out is controlled by someone else? I love that Mamamoo take the criticism as well as the responsibility in their own hand. They said “Yes I did that. That was my idea/decision. Please don’t blame other people.”
True mamamoo are the only ones who will say that, and I love them for that because it shows that they are invested in their own music. And I know that other groups might pitch ideas and are probably just ignored by their company
You should put Mamamoo with JYP at JYP Party People on the list (Becareful to include Solar’s performance of Sexy back in that show as well. I think since that song is 18+ it got seperates into a different video). That performance of them are so so good and it’s one of the rare footage you can get nowaday where male and female idols interact openly and get high on the music, partying together.
Really excited for your mamamoo journey I have so many great live requests but I don't want to overwhelm you haha - but I have seen you react to full Weekly Idol episodes. They may be underrated in some other countries. But Their fans sell out appearances. They take over entire theaters with their fans alone. Trust me, they are HUGE!! And they are AWESOME!!!They have amassed more incredible stage performances then anyone else.
Yeah I think a better title would be "Why you should be a Moomoo" but someone else in the comments mentioned that the creator may have done it as a way to get people to watch and then put this awesome video essay out under it.
Imo, maybe it's underrated comparing their talents to their popularity. For me. i prefer best vocal quality than average vocal with massive choreography. But yeah everyone had different taste of music. And it's okay.
12:58 correction. More and more ESTABLISHED idols are making a stance on certain things because they have already placed a name for themselves in the industry and a dedicated fanbase. Thus, hate that they get can be easily deflected. But, Gen 4 and Gen 5 idols that are topping the charts right now wouldn't dare to speak about their stances on social movements. They might hit hints about it, but never explicitly support it.
Not really. Bigbang during their rookie days called out against politicians and unfair practices, bts during rookie day called out on bullying and a lot of youth factors Mamamoo risked themselves supported RAINBOW ppl and performed at LGBTQ in 2016 ( a time when it was heavily denounced) and their fandom was first to make a place for the community. This ALL was done during rookie period. I would say to satisfy and "fear" of smallest discontent in fandoms of 4th n 5th gen and their entitlement over their idols is what causing companies not allowing them to speak.
@jyotitewari739 That's different, though. I never said there weren't any rookies in the past that publicly voiced out their political stances. The key word here is he said MORE AND MORE, which would mean that this practice is increasing or starting to be the majority, which isn't the case at all. How maany groups are getting debuted by the year? At a minimum around 10 groups? And how many of those groups are upfrint with supporting marginalized and/or publicizing their political viewpoints? Estimately around 5%. The "more and more" groups that are voicing out their stances in socio/politics are well established groups who have served the industry enough times to know their moral stances getting challenged is unlikely to damage the group reputation majorly ESPECIALLY soloists who get to work independently without fearing to attract hate towards their fellow members.
Yeah, this one contains a lot stuff that could be considered spoilers for a reactor. Particularly the solo parts. Personally, I prefer the reactor make their own interpretation of each video. I find frequently that there is something I've missed or different way to think about what I see. When the reactor makes their own assessment.
I don’t mind a little sampling of the songs every now and then because I don’t have a great memory, but if they’re breaking something down I’m more likely to have it stick in my brain. Like for most people I really like what the creator did with it, but as a reactor specifically it is a bit tough!
A group with a video that has 400m views is not underrated. Other idols even recognize them as icons in the industry. They have some of the best vocals in kpop and people know it. Definitely not underrated.
I don’t think the name of the video matches the content that closely, it’s more a video about the group, their social causes that they champion and information on why someone should be a fan. I think “Why you should become a MooMoo” would have been a better title, but I still liked the content! 😁🤘
That's an interesting idea as a creator... I think if it were me (no shade to naoshioke who did an amazing job) I would probably throw that thesis statement in the first 2 min or so to alleviate a lot of the conversation we're having right now, but it also probably generated a lot of buzz for the video *shrugs* either way I enjoyed it!
True, Mamamoo is only underrated compared to BTS and BP and that would make every group underrated. Mamamoo is the most recognized and respected group in all of SK and appears the most on variety shows
Yeah honestly I think the title is a little bit misleading from what the content is, it should probably be “Why you should become a Moomoo” but I like the content of the video so it’s mostly just a nitpick
I just think that a lot of people know about Hip/Hwasa, but never gave the group a chance. I've seen quite a few reactions from people that start their videos with 'I know nothing about this group' or end them with 'Why aren't they more recognized?' (and that's also true for Dreamcatcher, for example) 🤗

Thank you! I'm so pumped to get into more of their content including Mamamoo+ and solo songs!
One of the point I like the most about mamamoo is they are taking responsibilities. Kpop almost always make Idols the victim.
1) “Oh that’s outfit is bad” => that’s the stylist fault, the idols can’t choose their outfits, poor ABC.
2) “The lyrics is dumb and meaning less/ inappropriate” => That’s the company/writer fault, why company give them such bad songs, poor ABC
3) “That ABC is bad at singing/dancing” => the company didn’t train them enough. Poor ABC
The idols are almost always the victim and the companies are always the villains.
Definitely have it on my list!
thank you your first to react to this amazing documentary for mamamoo.
Thanks for joining me 😊
@@SylverReactsYes thank yoz :)
Really excited for your mamamoo journey I have so many great live requests but I don't want to overwhelm you haha - but I have seen you react to full Weekly Idol episodes. Mamamoo have quite a few but my favourite is their 2016 Weekly Idol Episode during You're the Best era. Excited to see you check out more stuff!
Thank you! Feel free to pop them over in the discord if you’d like, I have a channel for just that purpose! I browse through it before making the schedule for the week and any live suggestions for album reactions that I do! Also I love Weekly Idol! I’m excited to get to Mamamoo’s after we finish Dreamcatcher’s appearances! 🥰
Hi! Love how you're doing a deep dive into Mamamoo's music. Enjoy your journey!
Thank you! And thanks for joining me on it!
I enjoyed watching this with you ❤
Thank you so much 😊 I enjoy having you here 🥰
Actually looking forward on your Mamamoo journey. ❤
Thank you for joining me on this journey! 🥰
Imo, maybe it's underrated comparing their talents to their popularity.
For me. i prefer best vocal quality than average vocal with massive choreography.
But yeah everyone had different taste of music. And it's okay.
Agreed! The world would be a very boring place if we all had the same taste!
that used to JYP "Party people" it was on netflix..may still be there
Ooh I will check that out!
@@SylverReactsIt’s on youtube as well. Please please react to it. I don’t think it’s coppy right since I’ve seen other reactor done it before
12:58 correction.
Enjoyed it, I did.😁
Thank you! 😊

Yes, Mamamoo is not underrated in some point, it was proved in HIP is their highest peakest success in kpop industry tho
Yeah I think the video is very good, it’s just titled poorly I like the idea of titling it “Why you should be a Moomoo” better
@@SylverReacts yeah that's fair. Totally agree!
I believe the creator commented that they used that title to "grab your attention" and to show opposite true in sarcastic insightful way.
I don't think mamamoo is unterrated
They literally have like 400 million views on HIP song. Dreamcatcher's most viewed song has only 70 million
@@silentnight4025 I'm pretty sure the title is more like them saying "why mamamoo is better than Twice or Black Pink" without getting any backslash from either communities lmao
it's incredibly important to mamamoo as a group or as soloists to gender (or not gender) their songs about romantic experiences the way they do. every member, no matter her aesthetic, has thanked moomoos for taking them exactly as they are. they tell us everything we need to know. they are our safe space and we are their's.
