Hey dude u just got yourself a subscriber man love your content bro
Hey nonstop Dan, so I recently asked myself why airliners are using passenger planes and load those planes with cargo, instead of using a normal cargo plane. Well, so my question was... Do they do that due to certain financial profits, or because the airline has a shortage of cargo planes in their fleet?
Why are you shilling that company? They had a breakin and are very insecure. Trash VPN.
Public WiFi is safe! Bit too much scaremongering there for me.
Subscribed but when will i get to travel with u.
I think you missed another reason why The Residence was good for Etihad - consumer psychology. By having a completely over-the-top $20k option for high end travellers it made their $5k first class suites seem very reasonable. Just $5k and on the most luxurious airline in the world that even has an in-flight residence. What a bargain!
He said this though
perhaps this was their strategy all along?
He said this though (2)
Nah… private jet does the job already, you forget rich people have way more options to have things done than normal people do
@@tedlovejesus it’s not for the private jet flyers tho, it’s for the people spending $5k on first class
The head of a US carrier once said that Qatar, Emirates, and Etihad, are not airlines. They are advertisements for their respective countries and cities.
In that case, yes. They are serving their purpose
Yes. They are also government owned, that‘s why they can offer this service.
Without any real domestic traffic, any airline activity from those countries invariably become one in the same with the image of the country they fly the flag for.
They have money to burn.
Us airlines is a representative of what their country is as well.
Dan, I wrote my graduate thesis on this topic. There are more interesting political reasons why these airlines are so backed up by their governments even if it means losing money. I use the term nation branding to show how these countries use their airlines and tourism sectors to build reputations to secure political ends in the international arena. It’s all very interesting stuff.
Where is your paper? Would love to read!
How much did you pay for your worthless degree when this video and its comments did the same thing?
I wrote my thesis on how to eat cheese efficiently.
can I read it?
Where can I read this..
Very interesting .. I'm intrigued
“Speaking of failures.....” I laughed so hard because relatable
Hahaha😐
Great video and spot on with your explanations. Would love to have flown it but sadly I don't see it ever coming back.
Whoa a comment from Dennis Bunnik!! So cool!
It’s a Dennis Bunnik sighting!
Here's to a great comment.
@@henryzhao8054 who is he??
LOL I didn't knew the Residence was that expensive in the first place , just WOW
When I was flying in business class on Etihad, I got upgraded to first-class and the crew gave me a tour of the residence because it was empty. It was so nice, around the size of my bedroom at home.
@@adi6315 in HK the first class is 100k hkd around 78k usd for u guys
The add with Nicole Kidman looking stunning and the music, just added to the experience. They made it such a desirable thing to experience.
That music is their boarding music and it’s the most sumptuous boarding music ever.
Also saw their ad featuring Danii Minongue & the comments was like: "Time to ask Kylie for some money"
3:21 and they evidently did another video with Dannii Minogue
Interesting that both women they chose to use to promote it were Australian
Nicole kidman is almost 60. Holy crap
The statement of how a national airlines represents a country is so underrated.
The boarding music absolutely exudes luxury!
Not only the ad the boarding tune also gives goosebumps

Totally agree! I don't remember much from my Etihad flights but I just remember the mood the music created!
@@WisamSafi1978 yeah this one 😅
"Some New York apartments are the size of an aircraft cabin."
Honestly Dan. The video is not only amazing but you improved your skills so enormously. Congratulations and thank you for the great story telling
Dan, I'll admit your videos are always exceptionally informative! They really do draw me in.
Etihad Airways could have improved there service with the Residence Cabin. I've heard many great stories about Etihad but their airline catering could improve for its First & Business Class Passengers but I have to say this Dan that Singapore Airlines is one of the finest and one of the best airlines.
It probably helped sell a few First Class Apartments as Business passengers looking to maybe upgrade would see the price difference between the Residence & Apartment and conclude that the Apartment was a great deal. I'd be interested to see Etihad's statistics on this.
I always thought of The Residence as one more stepping stone between first class and private. $40,000 seems low for the price of a private flight. But I also believe the extra service is just not worth the extra $15k over a first class seat. It almost suffers because the first class seats are so good.
This video was one of your best-super interesting and very well produced! Keep up the cool aviation vids!
Excellent explanation of the Residence. Probably your best and thoughtful video to date. Look forward to your next research.
Thanks for giving Perth a mention, unfortunately Etihad had stopped flying to Perth well before C19. It was ridiculously over the top. You are spot on, for the price, get a private jet and the weight issue.
Perth WA, best place to live
Another reason why the Residence may have usually flown empty is that, IIRC, it required extra crew members. That meant it cost Etihad a ton of extra $$$$ to fill it, which was only worth it if the passenger was paying full fare. That was probably a big disincentive against filling it with loyalty upgrades and such.
Sir your videos are getting awesome with that editing thank you so much
How interesting - I love these insights. Thank you so much. Happy travels! 💯👍🤗
Great video Dan, and nice observations. Just one thing to add, while Middle East Carriers are partially or fully owned by their local governments and that they are a great marketing tool for their respective countries, it is not all about marketing their cities or countries. In other words, unlike most American or European carriers they do not have a local market and therefore more than 3/4th of their customers/passengers (or even more) are non-locals. Even most of the crew is non-local. This is obviously due to the advantage of their location/hub as you explained in the video. They are in a unique location to connect West to East and Africa with rest of the world. Therefore international brand image is not only important from marketing their country perspective, but also quite important due to commercial means. A great example of a similar non-Middle Eastern airline would be Singapore Airlines.
Congratulations Dan on your over 500,000 subscribers well done your videos are amazing
If your spending 20 grand on a plane seat you just have so much money you don’t know what to spend it on
I'd rather safe the money and fly first class😉
It is definitely worth it if you earn 20k a day. You wouldn't think twice before spending your day's income for a better experience on a 12 hour long flight. Many people earn 20k a day, and most don't have any bodygaurds like you would expect.
They just have to earn 7.3 million a year for that to be worth it, and there are a lot of people earning that much.
@@ritwikreddy5670 if you make 20k a day then clearly you know how to save and invest and would rather spend on a cheaper class and invest the rest
I have flown with all three of the Gulf based airlines you mention; usually economy or business class. I would say that my Etihad / Abu Dhabi experience was my worst in more than fifty years of commercial flights. The flight crew were generally pleasant and helpful but crew/pax ratios were at a minimum. The staff at the Abu Dhabi airport were disinterested and patronising ( I'm a mere European) and the lack of booking office assistance to correct an error of their making was breathtakingly awful....argumentative even. Luckily I was able achieve assistance from my NZ bank to get it sorted.
Never to use either that hub or airline again. Both Qatar and Emirates on the other hand are fantastic and we are lucky to have access to them both down here at the bottom of the world
Spot on analysis! Appreciate your insight!
Your videos are so well produced and beautiful!
I’m so glad I tried the apartment in feb of 2020. Who knew that was going to be the last time I ever flew in the apartment!
Did you pay for it? Or did you upgrade or use miles? Probably the later
That's an excellent investigation and rational explanation of The Residence and its advantages and disadvantages. Totally enjoyed the video. Just goes to show how complex many of these decisions are. Thanks Dan.
i recommend watching in 2x speed starting from 3:30
you stretch the video so much dude to get that ad revenue
Another very informative and entertaining video. Love this channel.
Having gone to university in the UAE and flown EY more times than I can count, that boarding music sends a chill up my spine every time in a good way!
Great video.. always love traveling and enjoying the journey..
Hi Dan! It's really amazing to see how deep your passion for aviation is. It brings me back to the times when I was a teenager in Tel Aviv and was also dreaming about flying the skies and learning about all the different airlines. Back then, the av scene was a bit different but I was lucky to travel quite a bit. I hope to meet you one day and share these memories! :)
Thanks again for the vid!
Great video! Agree with what you were saying too. Loved the use of the Etihad boarding music.
Great work mate !
Thanks so much Dan! Learnt a lot as always! You seen the 2011 BA to fly to serve ad? That’s still my favourite!
This has made me feel way more poor than I ever have in my life
Great information and content. I am sure you will hit 500k soon. A flight with you would be amazing.
Good analysis Dan 😊
Love your channel dan
Great video as always👍
Really glad you enjoyed our Ad Dan xx
I never missed a single video of you Dan. This one is one of the most soothing videos I have ever watched and it gave me more hope and strength to fly around the world after this F***ing Corona goes away from our lives forever. Can't wait to find you someday flying in the same cabin with me. Lots of love from Canada ❤🤩😍
Thank you - that means so much to me!
Finally someone who censors their curse words
Another excellent video, Dan!
Thanks ABC😉
Great analysis!
Awesome video and explanation boss.
Nonstap Dan never fails to amaze me
Hi Dan, I’m always happy when you upload, let’s get you to 500k!
Thanks for this presentation. You have an amazing day.
Amazing video like always
I just love the idea of a private bathroom. I always feel nervous on the toilet while on the plane because I’m nervous I’m keeping someone waiting. I’m also nervous if going up and then it being occupied and I have to awkwardly wait.
still assume you have to cover your ears when you flush though
I once priced Sydney to London in The Residence. It would have cost $40,000 (Australian Dollars) one way! Needless to say I didn’t book.
For that cost, you can book a private jet and take more people with you.
Incredibly informative video.. Thanks
Awesome videos Dan!
great job the vid💕love it
Abu to London about 3000 nautical miles so would need a super-midsize private jet to go nonstop. Average costs are $4k to $6k an hour and need 6-7 hours of flight time one way. You do pay for the jet to go to London then to fly back to ABU base if you return with the plane or not so $60k if you plan to stay in London. Some places will let you pay for the plane to sit on the ground with you for a couple of days but expensive. The jet does hold 8 to 10 pax.
Agreed. That ad gave me goose bumps.
Great explanations
Very good explanation about market demand-supply and competition
I have to agree that the Nicole Kidman ads for Etihad are my absolute favorite airline ads. She has a very classy style, beautiful and cultured. The ads are brilliantly written and filmed. I have to admit, when I think of Etihad, I picture Nicole Kidman in my mind.
Proof that no matter how rich one can be, logic almost always prevails.
Awesome job dan
It may also have served as a scale definer- I understand restaurants will put $1,000 bottles of wine on their list, not because they think they’ll sell it, but because it makes people see that $200 bottle as a reasonable middle-of-the-road instead of the $40 bottle.
thanks for sharing this video
Great production Dan, you did the math well. Keep safe. Rog.
I subscribed, because a flight w/ Non-Stop Dan would be Awesomeness Personified!
Funny you say that's your favorite airline ad. My favorite movie theatre ad is the AMC premovie ad where Nicole Kidman watches a movie robotically similarly to the Etihad ad. There's something about the way her eyes move that's so captivating.
Etihad needs to add more A380’s to longer flights because if someone is flying to Australia from New York that’s a big downgrade for the price they are paying. After they reach Abu Dhabi they will be flying business class for the same amount of hours for a flight from New York to Abu Dhabi.
I just love their livery, the colors and design is so beautiful. I’ll miss seeing their A380’s.
My favourite airline, I was lucky to fly on board one of the last A380 flights from LHR to India and back before Covid Lock Down. Also managed to get a model of the exact aircraft :) feel very lucky to of been on that flight
*to have been
i fell in love with Etihad years ago first time i flew in economy and have loved it more each year because their branding is on another level
I got this friend that whenever he speaks of business ideas, it's always of niche markets or luxury service. I always have to remind him that what matters in entrepreneurship is what makes money in the end, not what looks cool. That airline looks cool, but I'll still bet more on Luftansa or Air France.
I can't imagine even a fabulously wealthy person wanting to shower onboard an airplane - when he could just as easily access a first-class shower in the "executive lounge" at the airport? We aren't talking about 36-hr flights here, after all!
Right???? Like if there’s turbulence while they’re showering wouldnt they have to dry off, change and then get back to their seat
@@beneyweneys lol you wrote this a long time ago, but to answer your question they actually have a seat in the first-class showers with a seat belt in the case of turbulence.

I desperately tried to book Etihad residence from Chennai to Abu Dhabi for 2022 until yesterday I saw the news article about the residence 😭😭😭 that made me feel bad for Etihad
Sadly they only flew it to Mumbai in India, and not for very long :(

Take opportunities to travel when you can. This is an admittedly expensive, example of how an experience/place might not be there if you procrastinate.
Wow I never thought that this was the purpose of the residence . Again Bravo Dan 👏

Love the Etihad boarding music, great pick for this video! Keep up the good work, Dan! Hoping to see you hit 500k this year!
I love it too😍
I preferred their older music, less Hollywood, more whimsy. Much longer too, over 30 minutes VS the newer music 10 minutes or so
7:00 because the windows are in the wrong place! The A380 created this unattractive windowless space at the front upper deck, where by comparison the 747 had a beautiful front main deck with the windows curving towards the nose. It should have been premium space, but the A380 design botched it.
Awesome video dan...I think you can become a aviation analyst👍👍👍👍 discussing important aviation analysis.....Good job
Thanks man!
The weight is an issue that plagued both the A380 and Dreamliners when Etihad designed them: the original design for the A380 was so heavy it couldn't take off--without passengers.
Ok dude I just subscribed!!!!!
I was just thinking yesterday about the idea of being able to rent out a full apartment style suite on a permanent basis. I could see a lot of problems with it particularly with the need of always ensuring you return to the plane on time during layovers otherwise your home is hundreds if not thousands of miles away lol. But if you had expendable income and wants a super unique apartment that would let you explore the world and live your life flying around transient style and stuff. I wouldn't even want all the luxurious crap that adds so much to the cost. Just give enough space for standard comfort and the basic amenities. Sit there and play some vidya games and chill. Invite some passengers in from time to time to talk, play games with, party, whatever. Would be awesome.
The reason Ethiad has the Residence reminds me a lot of the reason why car companies make expensive top of the line cars like the Audi R8, even tho they don't really sell well because of their price their real goal is to build hype for the rest of the brand
After a long time Dan!
Loving this boarding music ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇦🇪
My fav thing about Etihad is the mysterious Arabian and sometimes harry porter vibe. Also their interior natural desert colour scheme
great video!
Would love to have flown in the Etihad residence or apartment! Totally agree about the commercial with Nichole Kidman, it give me goosebumps to!
Im an Australian and l despise her.
Really hope the A380s find their way back to the skies. The First Class apartment was one of the best first class seats in the sky.
VPN companies spend more on youtube advertising than Etihad paid to promote the residence
