Recently switched from the 14 Pro Max to the S23U. Both are phenomenal phones and handly daily tasks very well. You honestly cant go wrong with either at this point.
Man, I love the s23 ultra and everything, but when it comes to instagram, the quality is really bad. They need to optimise insta for android just like they always do for every iphone.
@@zoived Truthfully I don't have a struggle with it. Like I'll take pics and edit them separately before posting. Still comes out mad decent for a smartphone pic.
@nickackermanchannel I've only had it a week, but it feels like all phones should fold in half. I use the small screen to control media, set timers, as my alarm clock, etc. I'm closer to your height than your wife, but if you get one let her try it. Folded it fits in women's pockets easier. I don't like to wear watches so I keep it on me for step tracking. battery life wasn't great at 1st, but I got a msg about Samsung putting unused apps to sleep and it's gotten much better than my last phone, Pixel 6a. If you think it will help the channel get one. If not I think it's basically an S23 that folds.
Just to clarify a few things, how fast an app is opening, is not the way to test overall performance, since it has nothing to do with the actual cpu or the gpu, it just shows how fast the NAND flash memory in the eMMC (embedded multi-media card) actually is, so basically the storage memory. If you want to measure cpu performance, it's best to just do cpu intensive tasks, like multitasking for example, but i don't know if the iphone can do multitasking, that's why in my opinion the a16 is wasted in the iphone, it simply does not need that much power for what it can actually do. It can of course affect performance in games, but most intensive smartphones games are more gpu bound, and since the s23 Ultra has a stronger gpu, you can expect slightly better framerates, and also better 1% and 0.1% lows, so that means it will stutter less.
Thanks for sharing your take, of course, we could much more intensive tests, but day to day I don't run my phone that intensively so I cover what I actually do on the phone like open apps, play a quick game, open the camera, use biometrics, etc.
@@nickackermanchannel I understand that. Most users are not power users, i just wanted to clarify that how fast an app opens, doesn't say much about actual performance, since loading an app is not a cpu task
@@carlosferreira4225 I specifically used the words "you can expect" What i said is very true. It literally depends on the game, and if it's cpu bound, or gpu bound, there are many benchmarks showing games running smoother on the Galaxy. One of the most gpu intensive benchmarks out there, 3DMark Wild Life Original Unlimited, shows the galaxy outperform the Iphone by about 5fps, with a score of around 13k to 8k. It literally depends on the game.
But if you want to clarify things you should also clarify the more important things like opening apps are not the most accurate comparison. Like the iPhone 14 is actually one generation behind the S23. Or when the Note 20 released with the iPhone 12, you only compared that with the already one year old iPhone 11? Because between iPhone 14 and iPhone 12 there are no 3 generations like between S23U (renamed Note 23) and Note 20. The relocation on timeline/rename of the Note was just a marketing trick to fool the sheeps, who can't remember and can't count, but the past did not changed (just keep in mind that the 12 and 20 are both odd numbers, if you add +1 for them in each year, they will turn to even number in the same year, and back to odd number in the next year also together, so if you compare any even series with odd series, you are doing something wrong, they are not the same generations)
It's not about the speed but what u can do with it. I changed from a Iphone 12,13,14 Pro Max to the Samsung S23 Ultra 512GB. And the Samsung having so many features more then the Iphone. Only thing that's better on a Iphone Pro Max model is the battery and FaceID.
My wife was iphone user and im s23ultra user, i gave her my old s22plus, because she wanted to upgrade her iphone. The thing is, now she don't want to continue with iphone. She is getting used to s22plus. For me, i feel with s23ultra i have a mini pc, and iphone, is just a smartphone.
I honestly believe rhat apple increased the battery size of the 15 pro max because of a more power hungry chipset. 8g2 is the best chip overall to date.
If they have improved the size of the battery, then yes, with the performance cores being much more potent in the A17, that will zap more battery when performing intensive tasks like gaming.
@meetsingh7709 those are assumptions, just like my comment is an assumption. We shall see but it's unlike apple to add a huge battery like android oems have been doing.
Actually, I never have seen anyone opening apps by pushing to the limit of RAM Capacity. It will be interesting to see it. Thanks for considering this test.

samsung and apple are pretty much the titans of the smart phone world in my opinion. Im a Samsung fan, but I have my eyes on the pixel phones just incase google decides to make a pixel ultra phone with the best of the best hardware, instead of cutting costs like they do with pixel and pixel pro phones.
Really speaks volume that the iphone can perform basically the same despite being older and having literally less than half the RAM on the S23. I guess it really does help to have your own OS to fine tune things Lol. The efficiency is insane.
i swapped from the 12 pro max to the s23 ultra and love it so far, i must say I MYSELF prefer the curve edges on iphone makes it easier to hold but you get more screen on the s23 ultra because its square, my only issue with the s23 ultra is the low quality buttons (my power button is wobbly which makes the phone feel cheap so i have to use a case) Next year I'm 100% buying the FOLD 6 THOUGH.
That’s great to hear. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max now. I’m considering swapping the S23 Ultra. One question, did case and tempered glass together work well? Due to the curved screen. I fear it may affect the touch screen. It’s happened to my s20 in past, tempered glass kept coming off.

01:19 I have a question right now when you say it's still fast after the update the S23 ultra were talking about, that implies somehow an update somehow slows down the phone, that sentence literally makes no sence. I'm very confused right now.
The S23 Ultra is still super smooth and performs great. Some of these updates sometimes come with bugs, and I'm unsure if Nick is on the August update, which is also supposed to bring performance improvements like in the One UI 6 Beta 2. Also, every single day, a phone won't be perfect so every now and then slip ups will happen
@@Moyaiville_Productions well, he’s not in iOS 17 beta either. The Andriods may have better tech, but for me it's all about the ecosystem. Like Android doesn't even come close to being as seamless as Apple is when it comes to connectivity amongst their wide range of devices. That's what keeps me as a Apple fan.
Having used both phones. Yes the UI for multitasking is better on the samsung, but I still prefer the buttery smooth animation on the iphone to the animation on the s23ultra. The iphone just feels a little more refined.
Your literally pushing the iphone slightly before the s23. That's why it seems faster. That's not a very efficient way of telling since you're not going to get it perfectly pressed the same exact time in reality.
So I've tried to use an iPhone the other day and I've noticed that the colors like the coloring on the screen while playing games looks very washed out on iPhone compared to the Galaxy why is that is there any way to fix that? Or is that just how it is Because I really dislike that
If you’re use to using a Galaxy phone, the vibrance is usually turned up, so it makes colors pop which looks nice but not realistic especially in photos. iPhones have True Tones which doesn’t have the vibrant colors but it is much more realistic which the human sees.
@okaybro7740 I understand 😂 Sometimes, people like that vibrancy. Lord knows I like it a bit. I use a Galaxy A13 so emphasis on that but upgrading to an S23 Plus next week so now I'll actually be able to tune my display look 😀
So the 15 promax is gonna "leap frog" over the 23 ultra huh..the 13 pro max 14 promax and 15 pro max are all the same friggin phone ...why I'm tne world would anyone with either of those phones pay another 1200 for the 15pro max??.. it's insane...apple is constantly having the same phones only changing the numbers..when it comes to everyday use Samsung is far superior than apple ...apple is the greediest company there is ..hands down
My issue with the Samsungs (I’ve owned countless Samsungs) is they break super easy! Most android users have broken screens while very few iPhone users have broken screens. iPhones also last much much longer than Samsungs.
As a software developer, I have to say that the speed tests we see here are not quite fair. First of all, having them boot up and start using them instantly doesn't represent the real life usage. Samsung tends to optimise most of their apps during the boot up and Apple after the boot up is done. That's why most iPhone apps are a bit slower afterwards. You should give them a bit time so the software optimises everything and cpu usage drops.
@luqmanfirdaus9706 It's a very complicated question for a lot of reasons. Apple's policy is very strict. Everything has to be downloaded from AppStore and get checked by them. Samsung (Android) from the other side lets you download from other sources (if you wish by changing the settings). Both of them are very secure softwares with useful features to let you know what is being used and from which app, give permissions, remove permissions if unused for a certain time, but if you are planning to download apks you should definitely check your device more often for viruses. Android let's you play with fire a little bit more but if you start a fire you would be in serious trouble. So be careful.
I live these comparisons between Samsung and Apple. The two best smartphone companies in the world going head to head and pushing the envelope of technology. 😊
Btw s24 Ultra will destroy iphone if Samsung plays it safe. Bigger better battery always, optimize it well, and just focus on the camera and speed thats all we need for now
Ive always said that samsung may open some apps slower but when in the apps the samsung is faster. Not to mention in games its way better for a longer period of time on samsung. Even if iphone opens some games faster. Samsung opens most apps as fast though tbh.
I play games sometimes on my iPhone but have no issues. Many of the tests I see where the iPhone struggles is when on 5G, max setting, and max brightness, killing your phones as they have no active cooling. For most games, the iPhone runs smoothly, and for the complex games, just lower the settings, and brightness and play on wifi. Also, use a MagSafe cooler that negates any issues.
Well in the actual app, anything loaded is based off of WiFi speed; since the S23U uses wifi6 versus the WiFi5 on the iPhone, it’ll load things faster, hence why the iPhone can open the app faster but can’t load the content.
@@superiortoall22 iPhones have supported Wifi-6 since the iPhone 11... CPU, Ram and storage speed is what determines the time it takes to launch and load an app... Edit: the discrepancy between apps could be because of optimisation, some apps work better on android, some work better on ios.
@@Ben21756 my bad S23U is on wifi6E and yes you’re correct iPhone is on the wifi6 but I think the 6E variant with the 6GHz frequency allows it for faster data loading, so I’ll stick to my comment about the iPhone loading the app faster but not the content.
@@andyH_Englandwhy would anyone purchase a $1000+ phone then lower the brightness and settings of a game, and go out of their way to be looking for a cooler💀
Hello, you can try to see the fold 5. This phone even beats the s23 ultra in performance, and it is lighter than the fold 4 and more confortable. It also has a bigger screen.
I want to say, about the ram, it's possible the s23 is unloading data from the apps after a few switches, so going back in is a bit slower, which is actually more efficient vs the iPhone keeping that data wholly loaded into ram for the fast returns.. the iPhone gives up performance in order to look faster, it's a facade. you're going to be able to have way more apps loaded into ram while maintaining fast launches and app returns on the s23 vs the iPhone. the 1 second delay on the s23 maybe slower but is significantly more efficient for multitasking with heavy app switches. as for the camera, the s23 is miles ahead of the iPhone in quality & features while loading milliseconds slower, it seems this is an unfair comparison, anyways, as the s23 is basically building a mansion in the same amount of time the iPhone is building a hut when launching the camera.
That judgement on the cameras is very subjective… most people wouldn’t be able to compare pictures from both of them and consistently tell which came from which. And certainly hardware-wise they are very close, so it really comes down to personal preference.
@poopmeister619 It does upto some extent. Take a picture with a 12 MP camera and then take the same picture with a 50MP or 200MP camera. Zoom it slightly. The 12MP will appear pixelated whereas the 200MP will still have the minute details.

I am really exited for iPhone 15
The Andriods may have better tech, but for me it's all about the ecosystem. Like Android doesn't even come close to being as seamless as Apple is when it comes to connectivity amongst their wide range of devices. That's what keeps me as a Apple fan.
It was hard to notice as one is in dark mode and the other was not in dark mode.
Having used both phones. Yes the UI for multitasking is better on the samsung, but I still prefer the buttery smooth animation on the iphone to the animation on the s23ultra. The iphone just feels a little more refined.
You're lucky because I've had 4 different 14 pro Max's and all have been garbage in terms of battery and stability.
I had a 14 pro and returned it after a lot of app crashes here and there..Got the s23 plus and to me feels more refined..the iPhone was smoother too
Yeah
@@julieeagle3yeah some iphone ‘s batteries are dogshit
@zefanzahedreza5883 worst iphone experience I've had for sure. 11 pro max and 13 pro max are the kings in the ios world
Ahhh yes looking at af these tests but also can't replace my phone because too broke lol
Your literally pushing the iphone slightly before the s23. That's why it seems faster. That's not a very efficient way of telling since you're not going to get it perfectly pressed the same exact time in reality.
I saw that too. Nick isn't slick!
@@JohnTaylor-bd1uy right? Lol
@@superiortoall22 so there's no way to fix that?
Nope. Only on the Galaxy you can tune the display settings and look
@@Moyaiville_Productions I was just wondering because I really like iOS but the coloring bothers me so much
@okaybro7740 I understand 😂
Sometimes, people like that vibrancy. Lord knows I like it a bit. I use a Galaxy A13 so emphasis on that but upgrading to an S23 Plus next week so now I'll actually be able to tune my display look 😀
S23 ultra is an art of engineering literally
So the 15 promax is gonna "leap frog" over the 23 ultra huh..the 13 pro max 14 promax and 15 pro max are all the same friggin phone ...why I'm tne world would anyone with either of those phones pay another 1200 for the 15pro max??.. it's insane...apple is constantly having the same phones only changing the numbers..when it comes to everyday use Samsung is far superior than apple ...apple is the greediest company there is ..hands down
Samsung fan:
I much prefer the right angle corners on the Samsung. The phone looks more expensive.
I agree it has a boss look, the slight curves at the edges also make it more ergonomic to hold than iPhone
Always a spammer to ruin a thread.
Android smartphones are getting insane
So by your opinion as a software developer between Samsung and Apple which one is better in term of security apps optimization?
So be careful.
isheeps can do anything to prove iPhone are better 😂🤣
You're a software developer, yet can't spell. I find it hard to believe.
@@Crecross which word was misspelled?
I live these comparisons between Samsung and Apple. The two best smartphone companies in the world going head to head and pushing the envelope of technology. 😊
If huawei had google apple would be selling pizza
Btw s24 Ultra will destroy iphone if Samsung plays it safe. Bigger better battery always, optimize it well, and just focus on the camera and speed thats all we need for now

@@carlosferreira4225 You're the entire circus.
When are you going to do the s9 tab ultra vs the mac

I wonder how will s23 ultra will perform on one ui 6
i love Samsung And Galaxy S23 Ultra is the best but i want try iPhone because i have Android Phone for 10 years so i want try different system.
Hello, you can try to see the fold 5. This phone even beats the s23 ultra in performance, and it is lighter than the fold 4 and more confortable. It also has a bigger screen.
I speed tested the fold 5 vs. iPhone 14 pro max last week. Did you see it?
@@nickackermanchannelThank you, I had seen it
Samsung es el ganador en todo, el más grande, el más rápido, mejor pantalla, mejor procesador, iPhone no da pelea!
You didn’t update the Latest update of the app
Dude, you are like the Mr. Rogers of smartphones 😂 love your videos!
My brother said samsung is mile ahead of camera ( forgots the videography and photos at 3X) ..
@@SakshamSharma-vk2lsthe difference in the videos is small, the quality is similar, in the photos at 3× I don't remember how the two perform
That judgement on the cameras is very subjective… most people wouldn’t be able to compare pictures from both of them and consistently tell which came from which. And certainly hardware-wise they are very close, so it really comes down to personal preference.
