Fender Acoustic Guitars Are Lame

  • A fairly common problem with acoustic guitars of this type.
    The bridge is an essential component of the guitar that holds the strings in place and transfers their vibrations to the soundboard. Over time, the bridge can become loose or damaged, affecting the guitar's playability and tone. In this video, I show the repair process, which involves removing the bridge, cleaning and prepping the guitar top, cleaning the bridge and installing it on its palce.
    In the second part, I show the process of fret leveling. It is a crucial part of guitar maintenance, as it ensures that the frets are level and even, allowing for accurate intonation and a smooth playing experience. Over time, the frets can become uneven due to wear and tear or changes in temperature and humidity

    Those were like $300 guitars in 1990 ish. Pretty low budget for then. Cheap guitars really sucked back then (now cheap is often similar to expensive minus a fret dress). Who is spending that much to fix a fender acoustic? Sentimental value or what?

  • @bobadams179
    @bobadams179 16 дней назад

    I have a Chinese Fender that needs the same treatment. It came with a saddle that was made out of melamine and a bridge that was too tall and fit VERY loose in the slot. I bought a new ebony wood saddle for it but I do not have the ability to change it out. The action was about 1/4" and was unplayable until I sanded the bridge down by about half. I shimmed it with paper but the vibration does not transfer to the sound board properly. Also the grooves in the nut were cut too deep and it buzzes on a couple freats. I wish I had a skilled luthier local to me to set it right.

    I fixed a friends guitar with a lifting bridge a while ago, but luthery is just my hobby. Cheap guitar, bridge was factory glued onto polyurethane top coat, hence the lift. I used similar methods and this video verifies I did it the right way. Still, my repair left a 1mm gap surrounding the bridge showing the repair work because I don't have your exacting skills. Again, cheap guitar and also a free repair. Ugly but functional and the bridge is now anchored. I'm pleased with how I clamped it without long reach clamps: a top block and bottom block sandwiching the bridge and the soundboard with screws through the bridge pin holes, then wedges fixing the wings of the bridge till the glue squeezed out.
