Oh yes mate! Great vlog.
@@BruceLeroyUK Cheers Mr T, hope you're well
Yes, we do!
400mm 2.8 , the goat!
Love the video Rob, please do more of these type of blogs it helps us no end to see the reality of your job and makes us appreciate what you go through to make the videos for us, trying to do you job and also do the video for us, thank you Rob it's much appreciated, Pete 👍
Really like your videos. I'm 73 yo and just started shooting sports and really enjoy it. Thanks for all the great information.
Beautiful. Thank you Rob.
excellent video as always Rob, always good to see behind the scenes and you having honest opinions when your team doesn't go to plan.
Good work mate!
GREAT TIPS AWESOME VIDEO.
Good content brother… keep up the good work. Just subbed. Just another sports photographer videographer
good to see you.
Love the vid. Reassuring that the reality is that every game isn’t alway how you want it to run and sometimes we just don’t get the greatest shot - especially key moments like scoring.
Love these kind of vlogs Rob. Thanks
Awsome mate
And like seeing how you set up. Thanks for sharing! Much appreciated!
Great video, one question. If you need to take a bathroom break do you bring your gear with you or ask someone to watch it?
I love these behind the scenes videos! Also just bought a 1DX based on your recommendation!
Great Video!! Love this type of video!!
Love your content Rob!
Thank you
Would you ever consider shooting a hockey game?
@@StoddartsNova Yeah I've shot hockey several times
Always love to see the real life, how I do it video! Thanks!
Long time watcher, first time commenter :) I really enjoy these sorts of videos and would like to see some more from other sports that you do.
Great Vid...keep them coming
The best instructor
I Love Your voice !!
Nice one Rob
I've been watching your videos for a while and I love your content! I start with Canon EO 1D Mark iii + a 70-200 lens. I take into account all your advice to apply them to the best. Hi from France 🇫🇷
Thank you for this video. I'm really lucky with the sports I shoot. With handball or hockey we have plenty of goals (usually) and I can go where I want to 🙂.
Great video Rob, as always, keep them coming What gloves do you use
Cool video Rob. I might have missed a video but which AF case settings do you use on the R6? Any other custom buttons? Do you use custom mode dial for the pórtate one shots? Cheers
Muito bacana o vídeo e mostrando as fotos. Parabéns. Poderia dizer quais configurações usou nesse dia ou normalmente nas fotografias?. Valeu
Cool!
Thanks for sharing. I am looking at an ef 400 2.8 mark ll. I was wondering which model 400 you have and any idea what the mark 1 and mark 2 400s are selling for used? It sure is hard to pull the trigger on expensive used gear.
Hey Rob, thank you for the video, was interesting to see the perspective from a high league game and stadium. I'm currently shooting the grassroots game and documenting it on my channel and I noticed a difference between the you and I. In your video you mentioned that the majority of the play was down the other side of the pitch at your level are you restricted in moving your position during the half? I have the benefit/freedom of being able move up and down the sideline as I wish. So, was curious why you dint move position, and make use of the 70-200mm more so than the 400mm
Another great video Rob. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot any sport for ages. Hopefully i'll be getting out soon!
Warmer weather coming too Steve!
I use Nikon gear but really enjoy these videos. They seem very popular.
Hi Rob, hope you have warmed up a bit. What focal length did you take the wide angle stadium picture at ?
Great video, question ....do you use auto iso? ..I mainly do rugby photography as a hobby and have a pair of Canon 1dx.
What settings did you use for the camera? I Will shoot a premier league match in 2 weeks and I have no clue what settings to use. I Will use the Sony 200-600 so it Will be quite hard.
What your opinion if i start with 5D III and 70-200 f2.8 as low budget for sport photography?. Thankyou so much
Please do more. It’s my first season and I have learnt so much from you.
Can you show us your how set up your photo mechanic for meta data and for code replacement. And if possible can u show us how you send pictures.l during the game. Which may be hard to do.
Anyway thanks again
Can I ask how you go about getting into Football photography? Getting a pass at the stadiums to do it, they are very strict about not allowing it in the stands so curious on how you get a pass to do it by pitch side, would love to know.
Great setup Rob! As an aspiring sports photographer it’s a setup I can only dream of at the moment! Working with a Canon 7DMii and 90D with an EF 70-300.
That's still plenty to start you off with
I am in the same boat. First season one camera body I have 70-300 yet dream of a 300 or 400. Not to boast but encourage you. Still mange to get a few pics published. You can still get that shot when it’s in and around penalty area.
Do you know when you arrive which way Fulham were attacking in 1st half? In non-league always difficult to know which end to set up
You can normally get an idea from which end they're warming up but it can always change
Hi Rob, love the behind the scenes videos… John
Cheers John
Great video as always! How do you send your files? I tried the Canon software + Phone, did. a bit of LR mobile … but that was a mess and I fell back to SD Card in notebook, PhotoMechanic, LR, email in halftime and directly after the game for their PR departement. Next day I process all the (selected) images.
I struggle with selecting the right photos in halftime - too many pictures on two different SD cards … how do you manage that process?
Check out my other videos mate, I've done a whole video in the workflow. I use locked images into PhotoMechanic
@@RobSambles Thanks, I will look through your videos soon. Keep up posting these videos - it’s nice to sometimes take a look into the more professional ways of sports photography.
@@SvenPries Also look at PhotoMechanic software. Rob mentions this in his vids and is invaluable for controlling which images to download
@@johnmallett2217 Yes, I Do use PM a lot. My problem is, how to chose pictures fast and get them in time to the client. I tend to over-shoot (is that a word?) and com home with 5k pics …
@@SvenPries I select the best few images from a burst in camera already and only ingest them into PM. For ice hockey I get maybe 50 pictures that I have to go through after every period (I shoot maybe 600 during one period). I select the best ten to twelve shots and edit them in LR and export them into a sub-folder. Then back to PM and add players' names to the caption and then off to the agency or other platform via wifi/phone. That takes 10 to 15 minutes. Normally I don't have to do anything at home anymore.
Oh hello Rob! I’m just working on the posh women photos haha
Ah nice
@@RobSambles I give Joe Sundays off haha he does the men and I do the women
Thanks for the video. I see you are not using a battery grip on the R6. I using it, it works great because of the extra battery. But the controller location sucks.😊
Yeah still not got round to getting hold of one
@@RobSambles I don't have a grip for my R6 , I take about 500 shots at a game and feel my battery is ok. I am an amateur so no pressure, nobody is relying on me.
Great video as always Rob but I do have one question which bothers me lol not too much though. As you get to the ground and you choose your position for the first half to get Fulham attacking and then you'll swap ends at half time to get Fulham attacking again....how on earth do you know which way they will be attacking first half? You must be the only person in the world that knows, before the coin toss, which way each team will be attacking in the first half lol
As a general rule of thumb teams will attack the end opposite to the one they warmed up at. With Youth football it tends to not change.
@@RobSambles interesting, never heard of that before as the coin toss before kick off can determine which end they choose. It was a general question as my understanding is you would want to know which way the team you are covering are shooting first half before deciding which end to start at. Good to know though if that's the case 👍
Those R6 shots looked incredibly noisy. Color is dull too. would love to see the 1dx shots to compare.
where are the fans never see any one om your shoots
terrible music! I had to turn it way down - please lower the volume on your video to save on my ears. Too much annoying bass and it doesnt "fit" with your topic of video
