The Tap Reseaters either hand operated or electric are a work of art, so glad I keep track of there where abouts. Note to self "tidy up the back shed". Thank you for the tutorial.

Especially loved the tip; remove shower head to clear through the copper shavings, then replace shower head; and all set to go!
Loved seeing the "behind the wall" parts, at the beginning of the presentation. I love understanding the whole picture.

great vid....thanks mate.
thanks Bill super helpful
You’re welcome 👍
Very helpful. Thank you, Bill.
1 Question: How many times do you estimate you can you clean up the valve seats before the branch becomes worn too thin?
Bro mean az that was so helpful I be getting that reseating tool straight away thanx bro
👍
REALLY informative thank you!
Questions if you will.
1) Do you know if Chicago Faucet and T&S brands have the same seat angle or do I need two different seat resurfacing tools?
2) Website (s) for said tool(s)?
V/r,
Thank you
Nice vid. Good to oz content.
Hi Bill, great DIY channel. Just a question as l used the reseating tool and the brass is looking clean, however the brass ring has these imperfections and they seem to get bigger after reseating. Do l continue to resurface and will it eventually get shaved perfectly?
Thanks!
great video mate , helped me out alot .
Your welcome 👍👍
Love your video mate.
One question how can I get soft turn washers?
Oh mate, so daengerous!! Is there a risk of overdoing the resurfacing?
Cheers .
Mate bill, you are a legend. I can't wait to try this out!
I have never owned a drill but excited to change that now.
This is like the only type of these videos i've come across with decent video quality and structure. Def earned this sub thanks!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Mate thank you very much, the only isse i have is depending on how much crap is taken away by the cleaner ,you have to be carefull not have that stuff get stuck in the threads when you put the tap back on ,so clean it perfectly if you can with out putting the tap back on, thats all, but perfect upload champ and saved my headaches from the missis why cant you fix it, i was worried that the tap washers buckled the brass behind the washer and would need to take off the tiles and get it all replaced, cheers buddy and keep up the great work. :)
Glad I could help 👍
Thank you 👍
👍
Good explanation. At the end , gotta say.. Bob's your uncle or in this case.. Bill's your uncle 😃👍
Great demo! I just did that to my taps and now watching the video on how to do it for some reason XD
My fear with re-seating every time I do it, is that I'll shave off too much brass over time and will end up changing the pipes. Is that a valid concern?
Legend
Great video with background explanations. Can you please do one on how to replace the seat when it's past the point of reseating?
That you mean that its older then the hills and really should have been changed completely
Legend thanks bruss
Bruss? Ok...
Got one job did the same way take the head off and flush the pipe, however the copper shred was stuck in the flexible hose reduce water pressure. I would recommend take the hose off from the wall give the flushing. Or don't put spindle on, give a quick on and off completely flushed. It's my feedback.
I got the reseat tool from Bunnings. Not the drill model you’re using but the model you turn by hand and it works great.
please tell which section of bunnings can I buy, and what is the exact name of the tool.
@@user-bj1wz1br7mmanual resetting tool, bathroom plumbing section
Thank you..
👍
Informative as always. Any chance you could also show how to replace a spout on a bathroom basin set? Thanks
Hi, no problem next time I come across one I will change it and show you. At the moment I don’t have access to a basin with a separate spout as most are mixers these days but I will be on the hunt for one 👍
Hi
Got a link to buy that resetting tool?
thx
what brand and part number is that awesome tool. thanks
Champion
I have same style bathroom faucet and my seal keeps tearing, the one that sits on top of the spring... It's happening for both the cold and hot sides. It was fine forever now they're breaking every two weeks. Any idea what the heck I've done wrong?
And when they still leak? It’s not a small leak, I’ve ground so much away, I have gone through seven washers and styles of outlets (including ceramic), this is super frustrating. It’s as if the tap is still open/half on. Is it possible to grind it too far?
great video,,, do you need to have the spindle in the "open position" before you screw them into the wall?
Thank you!!
If you screw the spindle in the closed position you risk trapping little pieces of metal against the washer. Flush them out first by leaving the spindle open when you screw it up.
I did the washers and re-seated the tap but it still leaks. I suppose I will have to get a new tap. I note these problems are always with the hot tap which tend to damage the whole seat eventually. Thanks for the explanations.
I have another video on how to fix this👍
Thanks Bill. The shower no longer leaks.
👍
Does this work the same for all taps?
Legend, well explained and clear as day, great stuff, i suspect the 3 dislikes are from plumbers
Lol , one day even the haters will find something useful on my channel. Glad I could help 👍
Excellent video Bill. How many coffee do you have before the video shoot mate?
just the one 👍
You sound just like Alan on Smart Money YT vids. He helps people with ideas to make more money.
Awesome info video. I really thought it would help me... that was until I tool the taps off and discovered that some bugger has filled the gaps behind and into the wall right to the tiles with filler/silicon of some sort and I can't get to the spindle to take it off!
Hi this is very common, the silicone is to prevent water leaks. You can’t cut it out using a utility knife to gain access to the spindle 👍👍👍
@@billshowto Thank you, just about to attack it now
@billshowto is any lubricant needed (oil) to be applied to the cutter tip before starting to cut into the seat?
No oil needed👍
Nice. Can we please have a video on how to know increase shower pressure. I have two showers, of which one is good but the other shower pressure is very low. I tried to change the valve and clean showerhead. Nothing helped. Thank you.
Hi. Shower heads these days have (plastic) restrictors inside at the connection. You can try removing it.
Changed my washers and have used the same re seating tool and it still leaks what could be the issue?
How do I use a reseating tool manually?
After doing all this, the shower is still dripping.
New valves too.
I shaved down the surface twice, but still leaking. The surface is shiny. Do I keep going?
What else can I do?
Now I’m a hero to my wife😆
Tried this still leaks 😳 tried different washers from bunnings still leaking. What could be the problem
Hi mate,
I couldn't find the reseting tool in burnings tools section. please tell me where can I find the tool and what is the exact name of the tool. Thanks for your help.
The plumbing section where all the washers are. It's a manual tool though. We've found that after a few uses the seating ends up with a rippling effect which never goes away. I will try the drill type of tool next time. Maybe a plumbers supplier has them.
I have re seated a tap several times and it just starts dripping again. The water keeps wearing a groove in the seat in a very short time.
Thank you! I believe this is going to solve my problem. It is an outside tap but I'm sure it works the same way.
The only thing I did not like about your video is, why didn't you clean behind the caps before you replaced them? Ew! Just 2 more minutes, if that. 😕
Plumbers not cleaners 🤷♂️
Awesome
Please let us know the part number , brand etc … y local hardware store don’t sell it !
Where did you get the drill reseating tool?
Hardware store ( bunnings in Australia)
Do you go back and screw the washer back out after flushing?
Once the handle is on and you turn it to the off position, it will close the washer. The tap handle is what operates the spindle to open and close the washer 👍
Where can I find the resurfacing tool in Australia?
All hardware store sell them including bunnings
Where can I get the resetting grinding you have the store or the name of the item
It’s called a tap re seating tool, all hardware stores will have them👍
Mine leaks in the wall behind the taps when I turn the water off in my shower. Can't figure out why but it's a problem because I can't get access to it because the wall is covered in marble! Not sure what to do at this point.
You can try getting access from the other side of the wall ( which ever room is backing onto the taps) 👍
Does anyone know what causes this? I’ve found sometimes a mysterious nick or notch on the brass seating surface, and no amount of reseating will get rid of it. I don’t know what causes it. I usually end up buying a new tap
Over tighting or medal rubing it. Like if rubber ring gets worn out or can damage the seat or just being old and corsion can cause damage. Easy fix
I don't know why Seat Grinding would be necessary..as Brass is a lot harder than the Rubber Valve..The Seat is Black because of Tarnishing..eventually with repeated grinding..there'd be no Seat left..using the Drill is by far easier, however is more severe...
Great video, but I would be re-seating by hand rather then with a drill, much safer, especially for novices...
I've had a plumber in to do everything you mentioned in your video but our hot water tap is still having mini drips. It's now turned on super tight all the time but i am worried that maybe its the pipe at the back that may require replacement 😭
When the tap seat is resurfaced it has to be done 100% perfect as the smallest imperfection can cause it to continue dripping
@@billshowto Cheers Bill, by that do you mean that you ought to do a couple more rounds with the reseating tool?
That’s correct 👍👍👍
Hey Bill, if you have reseated a few times and still have the leak, is it time to change the dooby behind the tiles and if so do you have a video of that?
hey bill, i changed the taps in our shower, when i turn the cold water tap on, water comes out of the spindle, ive done the reseating, upgraded the washers etc etc but still does it, hot water tap side is completely fine, do you know what it might be?
Could be the seal inside the spindle. I have a few videos on this also👍
@@billshowto its a wierd one, because its doing it on the new set not the old set, ive even bought another new set to make sure the first one wasnt dodgy and did the same thing
@@thegrillingwog7381 hard to pin point without seeing it. If you send through a video I may be able to help
@@billshowto where can i send it to mate?
@@thegrillingwog7381 billshowto@hotmail.com
Done all that and one tap is STILL leaking ! any idea please ?
Do you have the part number ?
After turning off water, remember to drain excess water from pipe before proceeding... :)
let them know, that there is no need to remove more than enough of the seating, I have been plumbing for more than 50 years, once I reseated a tap, but it still leaked, with the new washer, it turned out it was due the dezincification of the brass seating
Bill mate my tap drips and then turns all the way round to full blast can you give me some advice bro?
I replaced the washer, would it be the seat thing ?
What do you mean “ turns all the way around full blast” ?
Billshowto the tap will close to a drip, and any tighter closed it like slips past closed, to being at full pressure. So it won’t close past a drip then it will overturn, all clockwise, and be full pressure. I hope you understand what I’m trying to explain lol thank you
Sounds like the spindle needs to be replaced. Easy and cheap fix.
Do you live in Australia?
Should have have changed the battery for their smoke alarm as well
Good old tradie advice with an Aussie accent …. Music
Bro
my washer won't come out I tired with piles and pulled so hard the hole is to small anyone know how to fix?
