Hey, most people have dynamic IPs nowadays which means your IP regularly changes (for example when you restart your router). That means if an IP banned cheater uses the same ISP as you and your ISP cycles IPs between their customers, you could get the IP that another person previously got banned on resulting in you getting banned for something you didn't do. IP banning could get a lot of innocent people banned, besides the fact of being very easy to bypass. Hardware banning (banning the ID's of your PC' hardware like your drives) is a better alternative but even that can be spoofed and bypassed sadly.
