i honestly think the redeploy balloons that render vehicles useless and let you land on anyone, anywhere at any time -- have really had a way more negative affect than people realize. The helicopters are dog shit because they're truly not needed with balloons. In OG warzone you had to actually follow circle and make moves to get strongholds yourself, whether that was NEEDING to find a vehicle to get tf outta where you were or just to move it and destroy it so no one else could use it. too many "crutches" now that make people get back in to the game for free ( flares, gulag kits etc) while also letting you spend all your money on whatever the hell you want.

if they're keeping the balloons they should balance them to be more risky due to how convenient they are (btw i think PRDs are fine as they are). There should be a limit on how far they can take you, the amount of times they can be used and a set lifespan before they self-destruct, notify nearby teams when one has been deployed, make them more visible and less frequent as loot. Even if they're ok right now on resurgence if they remain unchanged when verdansk returns it will kill the gameplay flow and vehicle balance they want to recapture, they helped out on the other big maps like caldera, al mazrah and urzikstan but those maps should have never been that big to begin with.

They had the easiest layup ever with just needing to add some things to make it fresh while building on the fundamentals of the game and decided to make a completely different game that permanently turned away players.
The craziest difference to me is the difference in skill. When you look at verdansk it was people running an shooting. Now everyone is dashing jumping sliding around like crazy. To think I ran an M4 with a HDR back in verdansk which has like zero movement speed, compared to now where no loadout lacks an SMG.
You mention the AMAX when you talk about the meta in Warzone 1. And This is what the meta is meant to be in Warzone. Yes the AMAX was strong. Stronger than the M4 or the M13 for example. But the AMAX was also more difficult to handle. And you if you were very good at the game, you could outplay the AMAX with a FAL.. This makes sense. Whereas today they push one gun or another to sell skins and cosmetics, without taking any guns' parameters (recoil, cadency, magazine size...) into account, at this time, the meta hase a sense. The stronger the gun was, the more difficult it was to handle it or to play with it (SCAR has only 30 bullets max, same thing for Oden, and they were very heavy, but the hitted like a truck)
exactly this. Yes the old game had meta guns, but other guns could beat them, exactly the way you stated. Now, and for a long time, if you dont use the same guns with the same attachments as everyone else, youre not winning a gunfight. Its ridiculous, and for me, with that, the continuous assault on casual players, and this stupid omni movement crap, means i’ll probably be uninstalling in the near future Shame, cos i loved the game
Da hell ?How blinded you are ? The grau as an example, gun was a laser even on hundreds of meters for weeks, what about the kar98 builds? Huh everyone used that shitty rifle cause the fast in scope time or what about that shitty smg from Cold War that everyone played, nah you forgot like 90 % of what happend back in the “golden days” in warzone but blame the new one cause it’s happens now … and nah stop coping bros, I’ve attacked you with that comment, your feeling imasculated and try to defend your opinion yada yada you talkin outa you ass accept it
Yup. Landing headshots with the Oden would devastate even the best Grau/Kilo players. I even had an "SMG" version I ran on Rebirth. And people forget that the ODEN/AK/Scar/FAL/AMAX'S recoil, low mag size, and slower fire rate made it the best choice for skilled players while the Kilo/M13/Grau/M4 were tailored for lesser skilled players. Damn shame what this game has turned into.
The early warzone was great, you could play casually. Having walked away from it for several years and coming back a few weeks ago. Very few talk on the mic if you join randoms, the game is bloated with gear and the buy box sucks. Many other issues with it but I’m trying to enjoy playing with my brother and nephew. It’s just such a sweat fest now.
@@bastien7985sounds weird but isn’t it always idiotic streamers and their consumers that ruin gaming experiences, without internet and all just imagine warzone in 2009 or so shit would have been amazing
Verdansk was so well balanced. You can be a camper and still win against higher skilled players. WZ is becoming a game where it’s tailored to only skilled players and that is making it not fun. Verdansk was perfect in that balance.
@@MustafaGT laughs in monolithic suppressor, buildings with only one way in, Roze-skin infested dark corners, and wide open spaces with nothing in between.
I agree. Ironically enough, the more they do to give crutches the lower skilled players, the harder the game becomes for lower skill players. That’s because they forget high-skilled players also get access to those crutches as win-more tools.
I hate Resurgance for that reason, coupled with the fact that all the new crazy skins and weapons from all call of duty’s makes it such a chaotic mess that it’s not fun. Feels more like a chore to play, where before it actually felt relaxing
Caldera was definitely not the least popular era. The initial launch of Warzone 2 with the movement nerfs was by FAR the darkest era of Warzone and also single-handedly responsible for the largest drop off in player count.
Yk, the funny part is that is totally wrong 😂 caldera time was down and only held up by rebirth island, with the launch of mw2 the numbers where through the roof so don’t know where you got your numbers body but mw2 revived the whole warzone stuff, not for long I give you that but still
I really hope DMZ comes back even if it wasnt as popular. Its nice to play a casual game mode than against sweaty 13 year olds. Also it was pretty nice to chat with stangers and share stories while doing some contacts of challenge
Vanguard caldera time yeah, King Kong and all that, wow, i remember for two years people wanted a new map cause verdansk is boring and than caldera came upon us … wow from that day on I only played rebirth island
First of all, how can you claim that Cold War, MWII, MWIII and BO6 feels the same? Secondly, all being on the same engine literally, and I mean literally, means nothing.
The problem with WZ now is that the players have got too good and they have actively removed all the ways a less skilled team can beat a better team. I.e. the war against camping
@@NotoriousCRD the camping in warzone 1 was absolutely atrocious. there are still definitely camping spots in wz3 and people are complaining about that still, but wz2 definitely hurt wz3's life cycle because it lowered br's reputation with all the unnecessary changes they made.

Then you are cannon fodder for people better than you so they can have their fun and come back again. There are 2 options to get around it 1) be so awful you never leave the baby slopes 2) get so good no one can beat you
@@NotoriousCRD this game arguably has more ways than ever for low skilled players to win. Cluster mines stacking in backpacks, portable balloons for easy rotations, etc.
Warzone's Identity Crisis: Warzone completely lost its identity on Warzone 2 launch, they keep changing and adjusting core gameplay CONSTANTLY! 150 players, floating loot, only ONE gulag, being only able to return via winning gulag or being bought back, simple things like the crate humming noise from Verdansk/Caldera. Its like Fortnite suddenly going from 100 players down to 70-80 and changing the chest sound to something else, it just feels weird... Add new features and mechanics like Balloons etc... 100%, but STOP changing the core elements of the game! The numbed down movement in WZ2, backpack system causing nade, self revive, smoke and streak spam just made the gameplay unpredictable and boring! Currently 99% of gunfights are purely smoke battles and has been like this since WZ2 launch, there is no rotational knowledge at all anymore because people are carrying 6-8 smokes EACH and just rotate across the map that way. Its a BATTLE ROYALE, we went from 4 ways of returning (1 gulag, being bought back, jailbreak and most wanted) to currently around 6-8, WZ1 respawn system for a BR was PERFECT for a CoD BR, now its just beyond a joke, I shouldn't be killing the same team 4+ times in 1 game!? Warzone 1 is missed for reason, that formula worked! The lack of keeping this identity intact made resurgence player count sky rocket and still is a favoured mode and why? CAUSE THE GAMEPLAY LOOP IS THE SAME FROM WZ1! They need to accept this and stop bleeding resurgence into BR!
At the end of the day, Verdansk will only be so good because it’s on the MW2 ENGINE. The map doesn’t matter AS MUCH when the game still has the same mechanics. Remember overall feel and gaming experience > Map choice.
WZ brought me back to COD. I didn't play for 10+ years, but it being free to play got me hooked again. I was deep into it for a long time. Got pretty good. Spent hours grinding guns, attachments, skins, etc on base multi-player. Spent hours just banging around Verdansk and then Caldera. Honestly the map change in MW2 along with the swapping of the UI killed the whole game for me. It was almost perfect before. Now... it's too much and feels like work. Haven't touched WZ in about 18 months and haven't touch multi-player in about 10 months.
With the BO6 integration they should introduce LTM’s to emulate how Warzone was at a simpler time. A mode where there are no redeploy drones gulag tokens or flares, no blacksites or strongholds, bunkers that just have good loot but no foresight. A mode where finding specialists was like finding a unicorn. Finally bring back Al Mazrah and the original Fortunes Keep map.

My biggest problem with Caldera wasn't how the map looked, but that it was the most laggy map ever and had loads of glitches, where you would get stuck, run into invisible objects and objects being glitched in the floor/ground so you couldn't interact with them.
Yeah shit was terrifying from times, the state when they dropped it and how long it took to fix all their shit was crazy … fascinating how incompetent these guys are but still so successful
Still can't process how they shut down the entirety of wz 1 forever. That shit should be illegal or regulated. If you're from a European Union country, please sign the "Stop killing video games" petitio, so legislators hopefully vote on regulations on videogame life-cycles and post-launch support. The fact people paid money for wz1 skins/passes which are no longer accessible is criminal.
If you rent a hotel room or AirBnB, do you get access to it for the rest of your life? Today, the whole gaming industry is a rental business. You don't own anything, including wz1 skins/passes, or current wz skins/passes. Rental business is not criminal, unless they are not clearly notifying the customer that it is in fact a rental.
As someone who has witnessed the evolution of Warzone, I can see that the shift in how the playerbase plays a BR, will become more focused on teamwork & strategy over METAS and gun skill.
I went from passionately playing warzone in og/1984 verdansk and even powering through caldera, once they ditched wz1 even with its issues, I have since had no interest in
Don’t mind how much it has changed over the years . My only issue is that the skins which we paid with real life money were not transferred to warzone 2 , and you can only use them in MW2019 multiplayer . They messed up there , in my opinion .
6:01 not only was Cold War Verdansk not radically different from the version before, most of the changes made for it made it inferior to the original Verdansk map.
I thought I was the only one who thinks FK is better than rebirth island. I also agree that Al maz is the best map ever. And while I did like verdansk (I actually like the look of 84 a lot)… I really liked the caldera map too. I’m partial to bright sunny maps with palm trees lol. Great vid bro.
I remember the excitement for the stadium roof opening ,the first Halloween Night Time Verdansk was amazing ,they also had a smaller kind of BR mode 50 vs 50 or something i think it was. Also, did the train always go round the map or did that only start around season 4 ? 🤔 I miss that era of Warzone ,i miss Verdansk.
the thing i miss the most from og warzone is the clean ui. everything felt so clear and well thought out in the current warzone the hud elements and notifications all look so darn ugly.
I loved Caldera. With the exception of the mountain in the middle, it had distinct areas and fun transitions. I think Urzikstan is the most dull of the 4. Arguably.
The best Weapons were MW2019 and Vanguard by far, the best big map for BR was Verdansk and the best one for Plunder was Caldera. Plunder in Caldera was pure CAOS.
Caldera has great POI's that are in all the wrong places. The mountain in the middle, the titular Caldera, was such a problem. It looked cool, it didn't play as well.
Very good, the Grau was indeed meta shit everyone played cause “good” or in other words I don’t have to have sill cause I’m holding a 60 shot laser in my hands
People didn't like Caldera? I LOVED Caldera. The King Kong vs Godzilla mode is what got me into Warzone and is the reason I continue to play it today. Granted, I only like Resurgence and Caldera was the only map that allowed for full map resurgence, so I don't have a lot of fond memories of the other maps. I was severely hoping that they'd reintroduce this mode when the new movie came out earlier this year.
At least every six months I think of 2020 and I would really like to go back to it.. Everyone sees it as the period of Covid, but I see it as Playing with People in Verdanska.. Warzone 1 was so great where WZ 2 + 3 can dig its own grave…
Verdansk was special for all the players because it was during covid and it was the first time COD had done something this big but as soon as Activision saw the potential that the game mode can generate income they monetized the hell out of it.
How good warzone looked and played in the beginning before all the 2000 weapons were added. redeploy balloons etc etc. Ill take early warzone over what we have now anytime
True, but simple question how much and would you even play warzone today in the state of season 6 warzone (that was the season where they added a train system)
Caldera era did bring in a lot of good changes though, players ui was way better with showing how many, streaks and plates each player had etc redeploy balloons etc. By the end of this era was probably also the best balanced meta and warzone was in a good space it just needed a new map thats all
I always say to my friends the WZ from April to around October is still my favourite BR game ever. It might be rose tinted glasses because I can no longer play something that my friends and I had so much fun with but I think we a few QOL improvements from the Caldera era it would of stood the test of time, unfortunately it was mismanaged to hell by Activision and now here we are, I stopped playing WZ probably a month after MWII and so did my friends, but I do miss the glory days to the point where I go back and watch old videos from creators all the time. If WZ1 was playable today in the state it was prior to the Cold War integration I would probably still play it.
It's not the rose-tinted glasses. I was mad at the changes from cold war in real time. Funny enough it's gotten so much worse that I'd do anything just to have that back.
I seem to be one of the few who actually enjoyed Caldera. It was total, visible chaos, sure, but after Verdansk, Caldera was my fav Big Map so far and me and my friends had lots of fun with that map, something that we didn't have with Al Mazrah and Urzikstan. Good players weren't as crazy good as they are now and you still had a chance at winning. Al Mazrah was such a bland, boring map with no real interesting POIs. But a lot of that might be going in hand with the absolute terrible clusterf**k that was Warzone2. All of that culminated to the fact, that we only play resurgence nowadays..
Crazy how bad warzone is now (almost unplayable). Verdansk was peak warzone and we all took it for granted. What I would do to play og warzone with the boys again

The stronger the gun was, the more difficult it was to handle it or to play with it (SCAR has only 30 bullets max, same thing for Oden, and they were very heavy, but the hitted like a truck)
Stop sayinh dumb shii u stupid dumb f ,amax is literally a fng laser beam .god i fng hate people like you
exactly this. Yes the old game had meta guns, but other guns could beat them, exactly the way you stated.
Now, and for a long time, if you dont use the same guns with the same attachments as everyone else, youre not winning a gunfight. Its ridiculous, and for me, with that, the continuous assault on casual players, and this stupid omni movement crap, means i’ll probably be uninstalling in the near future
Shame, cos i loved the game
Man that MW19 theme song hit me right in the feels. So many memories
Warzone 2 killed warzone
@@crazyratpors warzone killed warzone
Streamers did kill the game
@@bastien7985sounds weird but isn’t it always idiotic streamers and their consumers that ruin gaming experiences, without internet and all just imagine warzone in 2009 or so shit would have been amazing
Verdansk better still have a train with a renewing recon contract.
@@MustafaGT verdansk was infested with cheaters. It’s much better now
I hate Resurgance for that reason, coupled with the fact that all the new crazy skins and weapons from all call of duty’s makes it such a chaotic mess that it’s not fun. Feels more like a chore to play, where before it actually felt relaxing
@@EpticityOG Fully agree. I've had a full year out and came back today. It's like i'm a complete noob again.
Intriguing and informative. Thanks for the overlook of our past with WZ! Makes me appreciate everything we have had along the way
Caldera was definitely not the least popular era.
Caldera was truly amazing towards the end after the balloons were added.
@@floid81 it was better before they removed all the trees
Caldara always sucked! There was nothing ever good about that map pr that version of warzone!
Vanguard caldera time yeah, King Kong and all that, wow, i remember for two years people wanted a new map cause verdansk is boring and than caldera came upon us … wow from that day on I only played rebirth island
Really wish we had gotten blackout 2. All games being on the same engine now just makes each feel the same.
First of all, how can you claim that Cold War, MWII, MWIII and BO6 feels the same?
Secondly, all being on the same engine literally, and I mean literally, means nothing.
Me too. Pure gunplay skill. You worked for your win. No free gifts.
@@tiredcaffeineI think he means in terms of Warzone
@@0uttaS1TE Oh, I see. Still, Warzone 1, Warzone 2, and now Warzone with MWIII integration are all different. So my point still stands.
The coldwar era was the best on the warzone side. The best metas. The best camos and skins. The most player active.
Streamer turn Warzone from casual fun to Sweat Fest
Streamers n such... Tryin hard to go viral n become famous. WZ hs become a joke now
Activision did that.
Amen.
Isn't that what sbmm is for?
@@ncliffor that’s what it should be for but in practice it’s not sbmm but engagement based mm. it’s designed to keep you coming back. Ever noticed how you do well in your first few games then it gets awful? That’s what they do. Give you some fun then throw you to the wolves. Just enough fun so you come back the next time. Then you are cannon fodder for people better than you so they can have their fun and come back again. There are 2 options to get around it 1) be so awful you never leave the baby slopes 2) get so good no one can beat you
@@NotoriousCRD I've been option 1 for years - y'know us casual players just want 40 minutes of fun, not grind

I disagree 100% about Fortunes keep. Me and my buddies don't play if that's the only option. If it's a rotation, we skip it.
Godzilla v Kong was the only good thing about the vanguard era..... Would love to have it come back to any map
One of your best videos TTB. Very well done, Sir!
Warzone's Identity Crisis:
Warzone completely lost its identity on Warzone 2 launch, they keep changing and adjusting core gameplay CONSTANTLY!
My favorite memory of OG Warzone is the LTM with the TRUCKS!
Blackout was the absolute best. No loadouts, no UAV, COD movement/gunplay with a PUBG grittiness. God I miss it.
I wish blackout came back. Hands down the best BR. Everything was so balanced and the map was great
Blackout also introduced Alcatraz (Rebirth) and resurgence.
Blackout was sick, I still remember my first win at the wind turbines. 😂
Blackout was amazing. Everything after blackout and wz1 is just not very fun for mouse and keyboard players. The gunplay sucks ass.
At the end of the day, Verdansk will only be so good because it’s on the MW2 ENGINE. The map doesn’t matter AS MUCH when the game still has the same mechanics. Remember overall feel and gaming experience > Map choice.
These type of videos are amazing, I am enjoying the most explanatory type of content. Keep on the good work TacBrit ;-)
I would kill for this. 😂
Al Mazrah was a really boring map tbh
man og warzone was the best. hours of fun. great times with friends, just isn't the same anymore.

I went from passionately playing warzone in og/1984 verdansk and even powering through caldera, once they ditched wz1 even with its issues, I have since had no interest in
The stadium opened up in Season 5 of MW2019, not during Cold War. Felt like you skipped over QoL changed Caldera in and how Al Mazrah just ruined that
Don’t mind how much it has changed over the years . My only issue is that the skins which we paid with real life money were not transferred to warzone 2 , and you can only use them in MW2019 multiplayer . They messed up there , in my opinion .
Ashika Island one of the best resurgence maps ngl. It was very fun and kinda like the beginning of comeback for warzone
I miss that era of Warzone ,i miss Verdansk.
the thing i miss the most from og warzone is the clean ui. everything felt so clear and well thought out in the current warzone the hud elements and notifications all look so darn ugly.
The graphics were the best in the first version.
yeah
I quit playing for a month during the DMR meta. You felt like you couldn’t cross the street or any open area without dying.
I loved Caldera. With the exception of the mountain in the middle, it had distinct areas and fun transitions. I think Urzikstan is the most dull of the 4. Arguably.

really awesome video but a bit incorrect as the Grau was the first Meta that I can remember in early Verdansk. Grau, MP5, Kilo, AX50 and HDR
Very good, the Grau was indeed meta shit everyone played cause “good” or in other words I don’t have to have sill cause I’m holding a 60 shot laser in my hands
Seeing BrokenMachine is fun to me. He still out here grinding everyday
The best era was the DMZ era, man I was addicted as hell on that mode.
Great video !!!
I remember when it was like M4, MP5, or HDR. Pick two and go! Definitely the best time to play.
Warzone will never feel like it did in 2020. I don’t even play it now.
Good video bro, really good. This is not the same game anymore
All my pals play resurgence. I miss the gameplay when people knew they were down to their last life
I'm so old I remember a game mode called Blackout which was Warzone years before Warzone
Wasn’t rebirth resurgence allready in blackout?
Yes. It was called Alcatraz.
Man, if you had the visuals reflecting the sections you're talking about, this video would have been sensational. It's still great, though.
I wish we could run OG Verdansk. Best days of my life gaming
Caldera era did bring in a lot of good changes though, players ui was way better with showing how many, streaks and plates each player had etc redeploy balloons etc. By the end of this era was probably also the best balanced meta and warzone was in a good space it just needed a new map thats all
>CoD's idea of resurgence didn't even exist
Blackout: am I fucking joke to you?
That floating loot 😍
Warzone during 2020 was pure chaos 😂 l love it so much
Original Warzone when it first came out was by far the best. Just give us that.
Floating loot needs to return. So simple
Stopping power rounds were OP.
lol man they used to talk shit about me using smoke grenades in the OG Warzone but it came in clutch EVERYTIME now look at us 😂😂
More free gifts and crutches. More methods to get ‘unkilled’
It stopped promoting gunplay skill and pushed gimmicks. What a joke.
I would die for a "Warzone Classic" S0 feelings, no metas, no Cold War guns, just the classic experience.
Resurgence was in Blackout wasn't it? Or was it just BR in the Alcatraz map?
THIS IS THE 95% of my thought. This video is perfect as a 2020 player ❤ I miss then
I feel like not much has changed. I mean, its been 4 years, and they still haven't figured out how to let us cleanly scale rocks. 🤣
I actually liked blackout more than warzone when it first came out. I came around as I started sniping more in warzone than blackout.
That music I remember that from booting up mw2019 for the first time😌
I seem to be one of the few who actually enjoyed Caldera.
