Great job, Robby, thank you very much! I installed all of my Real/Fakebooks this way. Your tutorial is such a huge help to use the essential files of Jazz-gigging. Thanks again!
thank you, I have synced all my books, but the csv list you provide doesn't have some of mine, for example none for Bb instruments or brazilian fake book. I looked but I can not find another page with more indexes. Any idea please?
After some trial and error, I realised it's useful to have a header row at the top of the CVS, with Title (ie the title of the song), Start, End (useful when some songs are one page and others are more than one page.) You can also have columns for Genre, Tags and Labels, and they'll all go in automatically for each song.
Im a little puzzled as how to get the app to show up on my Ipad. It only shows a few apps to use but I can't see the forscore app. Even when I hit more. So How do I make that show up? I love the video but can you help me with this? Thanks
Hi i would like to know if you have created a video on the last forscore version ? I try to do the same actions than you but it doesn t Work. Thank you from Brussels ❤️
many thanks! really helpful - if you see this.....when I add a single song to a set list it adds the entire RealBook this particular song belong to - is there a way to add a single song to a set list after adding the index? - thanks!
Robby I'm hoping you can help me with my Forscore query because I can't seem to find out how to do this. Your You Tube video I think is the nearest explanation I think to what I am trying to do and I can't find your website you mentioned to ask you directly.I am trying to find out if there is a way of tagging name of sheet music books so you can look up index or title of songs under title of book on forscore ? Or if you can look up title of piece and title of book it's out of shows as well ? So if I type in title of book I want all the index of songs in that book to come up under title ? I have tried tags and lables For example if I type in the name of book 100 Beatles Songs for harp I want a list (index)of the 100 Beatles songs so I can just click on song I want OR if I type in title of Beatle song I want it will show title of book it's out of. Sorry it's hard to explain ! Hoping you can helpThanks Fiona
Followed along several times, watching this on my iMac and doing as instructed on my new iPad Pro.It was tricky after designating the Title page because the video flashed too fast. After finally figuring that out, saving it, no songs or titles showed up. All blank. Did it over and over, same result. Maybe the app changed?
wow Robby this could be very useful but I have a slightly different problem. I am just getting started with forScore. I haven't even gotten my Ipad pro yet but its ordered. So here is my situation, I have two large biners of music that I use for my gigs. I'm a classical guitarists. I play 3 hour restaurant gigs every week. I have my 2 books organized with a master spreed sheet that gives my songs in alphabetical order with book and page number. My books are not alphabetized by music but that has not been a problem. When I build my set for the week (about 40 songs) I use the spreadsheet to pull the songs from with page and book so I can find them quickly. I had these two books digitized before a trip a while back just in case something happened to the books. The files are just copies of my books..one page after the other. Kind of like your books but I only have my own spreed sheet to index them. I'm wondering If there is a way to use your method to index and organize these files in forScore? I haven't even gotten the program yet so I don't really know what I'm dealing with yet. I think my spreadsheet is in CSV form?? I have transferred my music pdf's to my dropbox at this point and organized them into two folders book 1 and book 2 . Any suggestions....Thanks for you r video!
Morris Peltz I would handle this the same exact way I did in my video only you will have to use your csv file instead of any of the ones attached to my links. You might have to play around with it a little bit to get it to work correctly.
Extremely informative tutorial! I thought the forScore app automatically created a index of all the Fakebooks you import? I had swipe up or down to find a song.
Thanks for your tutorial. Very nice. I tried it but I can’t get fourscore to show up… I have the pro version… Any ideas why I’m not seeing a Forscore option for importing the index? Thanks!
Hi Robby, thanks for the video. I don't get the option to copy to forscore like you do. Subsequently, the realbook won't automatically display. Is it possible the website has changed? Thanks
Robby , great video, I will try , but dont get how if 1 page is off it will throw off all pages . I have tons of music books and did not want to import a whole book as a a file and have to search all the pages.
Hi, I have only a question or maybe an idea for the OnSong... It would be very nice and usefull when we could copy jpg, tiff, jpeg, or other picture format from the clipboard directly into the songtext. Do you have maybe this solution in the future?
I only just worked out how to do it, revisiting this video 3 years later! I am now using forScore on my MacBook Pro (Big Sur), and then export the 4sc file to my iPad. 03:52
Perhaps it is just me. I followed all the steps until you said 'I'm goona take this page and call it...' You didn't actually say what you were taking and how you got it. I've tried to scroll back and form in the thumbnails and it wont show them. Do they take time to arrive once downloaded? I can see them in the document but just not in the thumbnail page. Also, my pages begin at 9? It is not recognising the pages before the first music page. Any ideas would be appreciated.
alternatively for other large books that don't have publicly available indexes, I just split the original PDF by embedded bookmarks in Adobe Acrobat. Takes about 5 seconds and you're left with a folder with 400 PDFs to import into Google Drive and Forscore. Each PDF is named by it's bookmark (hence its title)
Where cold you find a PDF Real Book with all these bookmarks? I much prefer the Fakebook Pro app method, also using csv indexes, which is single click to download and index: www.skrivarna.com/p/fakebook.html
I had a problem with this. The CVS files opened in Forescore automatically under the title Real Book 2 Eb, the one I chose. All songs were there and I associated them to the index as per your steps. But this made it difficult to create set lists. The program reads each song's title as Real Book 2 Eb. Tried deleting the whole file and starting over, but now when I repeat your steps, Forescore thinks the file is still there, only it isnt. Even deleted Forescore and reloaded it, but same result. I have a support ticket in to Forescore, but if you could help, I'd appreciate it.
you need to modify the csv file before importing it. Add a fourth column, and put the end page for each song. Then you'll be able to add all these songs to a setlist ;)
Good advice. But what do you do if you have multiple realbooks? Do you have to go through the books one by one or can you search them all at once? This question has been resolved fantastically by the app iGigBook. If I search for a specific song the app will show me all books in which it is included and when I click on the name of the song the app brings me instantaneously to the appropriate page of the book. Works great with practically all fakebooks out there (legal or illegal) except for Realbook 1 (Sixth Edition). Fifth and Ninth are fine but Sixth seems to always open up at the wrong page.
I just add an index for each. The link in the description has multiple indexes for the most common Real Books. I can search all songs across all Real Books by title.
I am 71 and play in a Volunteer Senior band for Kids Hospitals. We are all tired of carrying the sheet music. I just purchased the ForScore App-tried to download Real Book and CSV indexes. I was able to access the songs after the downloads and on the ipad and in order and started with the first song and started to create a Set List. The song would not appear at the top of the page where it says RealBook. It is supposed to read the song title at the top of the page for each song selected. Can you help or possibly refer us to the Real Books that you use, for there are many and we are using your Indexes that you gave us in the video. (Struggling Seniors)
This is the best video of 2023, pure gold
+1
HUGE THANK YOU from Japan!!🇯🇵 This video and CSV file made me so much easier to search songs
Great job, Robby, thank you very much! I installed all of my Real/Fakebooks this way. Your tutorial is such a huge help to use the essential files of Jazz-gigging. Thanks again!
Hey man, thanks for the tutorial, do you have CSV file for real book in Bb version?
thank you, I have synced all my books, but the csv list you provide doesn't have some of mine, for example none for Bb instruments or brazilian fake book. I looked but I can not find another page with more indexes. Any idea please?
Wow! Didn’t know I could do that! Thank you!
This is very helpful, thanks. Do you know where I can find a CSV index file of The Real Christmas Book?
Thanks, going to try this now!
Thank you. I have some church band with several of our song. So I need to know how to make a "book" (I guess) first to make an index?
After some trial and error, I realised it's useful to have a header row at the top of the CVS, with Title (ie the title of the song), Start, End (useful when some songs are one page and others are more than one page.) You can also have columns for Genre, Tags and Labels, and they'll all go in automatically for each song.
Sharon, could you share an example CVS file with the formating that you are describing?
Im a little puzzled as how to get the app to show up on my Ipad. It only shows a few apps to use but I can't see the forscore app. Even when I hit more. So How do I make that show up?

Could you help me to why I don’t get the title of the my song of my pdf when I generate this cvs file. I get weird names instead! Thanks.
That is amazing

Extremely informative tutorial!
I thought the forScore app automatically created a index of all the Fakebooks you import?

Thanks for your tutorial. Very nice. I tried it but I can’t get fourscore to show up… I have the pro version… Any ideas why I’m not seeing a Forscore option for importing the index? Thanks!
You can also just place the files in the forScore folder
Very helpful. Thank you very much!
Hi Robby, thanks for the video. I don't get the option to copy to forscore like you do. Subsequently, the realbook won't automatically display. Is it possible the website has changed? Thanks
Not working with Macbook Pro...this only seems to work with iPad...the .csv file open up in Numbers and won't import into forScore....any suggestions?

Great Feature, thanks for Demonstration.
Thanks. That was very helpful.
I can't get this procedure to work. How do I contact Mr. Burns for help?
Any chance you have more than one sheet in your spreadsheet? It only works with one.
Once they are in ForScore and indexed, can you search for individual songs across all real books (and any other individual songs) at once?
Thanks man, you helped me a lot with this!
Unfortunately Real Book Vol 6 ( concert C) is not available
Not working. CSV files are tiny ( < 25kb ) and the song list does not appear in Safari, as show in the example. What up?
Perhaps it is just me. I followed all the steps until you said 'I'm goona take this page and call it...' You didn't actually say what you were taking and how you got it. All the steps work fine, however, the indexing is not correct. None of the bookmarks take me to the correct song page.
That was great. Thank you!
Thank you so much. Great job
Unfortunately, when I tap on a title, it takes me to a different page. How do I fix that?
Woooooooooow Thank you!!! i love you!!!!!
Real Book in the diystomoboxes does not show forScore as an option to open into. ???
alternatively for other large books that don't have publicly available indexes, I just split the original PDF by embedded bookmarks in Adobe Acrobat. Takes about 5 seconds and you're left with a folder with 400 PDFs to import into Google Drive and Forscore. Each PDF is named by it's bookmark (hence its title)
How do you split the original PDF - are the bookmarks already embedded or do you embed each one? Thanks.
Where cold you find a PDF Real Book with all these bookmarks? I much prefer the Fakebook Pro app method, also using csv indexes, which is single click to download and index: www.skrivarna.com/p/fakebook.html
Nice work!
Thanks !
Any thoughts on how to get Safari to even recognize ForScore as an app I can open this in?
James Sampliner at the far right of the share button you can specify which apps are shown in the share-menu
Jörg Tully it isn’t there as an option in the add more section
Why do all of this work when you can use an app like iGigBook that has indexes already built in?
thanks a lot!

yohann boudreault How do you do that?
Otto Remmer csv can be modified in excel
@@yohannboudreault thanks, that'll save some time for me to find that out the hard way :)
