I love the way you explain why you do what you do as you progress. It’s not obvious at first but as you progress and explain it makes sense. Thank you👍
I agree , you are an excellent teacher, the work steps are very clear, as your spoken comments .I am glad that we can see anything at the same time: the palette, the photo and you working in real time. Thank you, thank you.
Your lessons are great!! Thank you so much! You are an excellent teacher - so patient. You talk us through with your train of thought and you show everything you are doing in REAL time. Thank you!
Thank you, I learned so much I really appreciate when you mention the drying time. As a beginner, I miss this important step so many times thus terrible results in my work. Fantastic learning experience.... Thank you.
This is the first time I see your work and I am amazed, I subscribed right away, you are incredible good, I can't wait until I see more , thanks for sharing.
Excellent tutorial again! Did you ever make a video where you mention all the colors you recommend and what brands are your favorites for each color you use on your palette?
Mape, yes, in many of my lessons, I described the paints I use and my method of mixing them. Under my channel, you can search for "color wheel" or "mix colors" you will find some. Thanks for being here.
Small question, if I may? All the really really good artists, like you, seem to refill your pans. Why does this substance look so creamy? Is this from tubes? Or do you add a product to make it so creamy? Thank you, sir!
I use tubes. I have a web page listing most of materials that I used in my lessons. Go to this page and look at the footer for the link: enjoyingart.com/
Amazing! Thank you for this detailed tutorial! *__* I notice that your paper staing wet for a long time and I read you use Strathmore Watercolor paper 400 series. I haven't tried it, is it cotton? I have Canson Montval 100% cellulose, is it good enough for me to try your technique? I'm sad because it dries like in a few moments after I put the water/paints on it.
I use Strathmore, Canson when I demonstrate to my students, because that are the paper I suggest them to use as beginners. Strathmore gives better quality than Canson. For Canson, you may only can use for one or two washes, but Strathmore you can do a bit more. Arches Cold Press 140lb is what I use for more professional paintings. Thanks for connecting with me here.
I admire your talent, sir. Being an amateur I use pans and tubes. I prefer watercolours in tubes because it is so hard to obtain a deep, warm colour out of pans? Or is it just me ? ;) and the brush goes more smoothly, I think. Can you help me? Thanks for your help and for your sharing. A daily portion Yong Chen makes my day!
Beautiful painting and amazing tutorial!I have a question:did you wet the paper before applying the initial washes?I am specially thinking of the background.thank you!
Yong Chen - do you stretch your paper? Mine warps when I use the amount of water you do, even when using Arches blocks...love your RUclips channel!!! Every video is in my favorites!!!
@@nursdurkin Paula, your question got emailed to me instead. To your question, I personally have the same problem with Watercolor block as well. I always stretch my paper by soaking it for 5 minutes or so, then, staple them on a wooden board or a foam board, depending on the size of the paper. When done, they always stay as though it has been pressed.
