Thanks for the feedback, mate. The tape is not permanent, and it's what my friend wanted. All in all, great build. I bet yours looks fantastic in Matt black 👍
I'm super happy with how it turned out, mate 👌 I would love to one day see an anodised blue dia-comp brake set. Think I'll see the tooth fairy before then 🤣
Quick question...new chain? Do u strip the factory grease stuff they put on new chains and relube? I was working on my sisters specialized that she wants me to sell. Years ago she had the chain replaced and the bike shop didnt remove the sticky stuff. I find it attracts dirt big time however she barely rode it so it was no big deal. Cleaned the chain this afternoon and will reinstall after showing the rear mech some love(grimy pulleys).
So, the majority of the time, I will at least give it a good alcohol clean by hand and the oil. The stuff on the chain from new is very sticky and is to stop rust. I have tried a new chain from New and just found it ran nice, but after a few rides, I needed a deep clean and proper oil. I think if a bike is only going to be used in nice weather and easy use, it's all good. If you ask a bike shop if they take care of a chain and clean and oil from new, 100% of the time its sticky and not cleaned or wiped with oil. 👍
I really admire your meticulous nature from frame selection to parts. I see how you place protective tape, careful to trim straight and even, the seams all on the inside. True pride in workmanship shows. Stunning build.
Thanks mate 👍 I like to go as all out as possible with the old bikes and not make them hipster or do too many restomods. Really want to keep bringing to old girls back and maybe inspire the young generation. It's also why I try my best to explain things and give tips on how and why I do things. There are too many channels doing the same stuff, and so I want to be different 👍
It's like a durable cloth tape with like waterproof sticky backing great looking but only for a bike that is a Sunday best in dry weather. In wet weather, it may hold moisture and wetness. 👍
I just noticed the front brake setup and I will let it slide this time 😂 Seeing how the housing and cable run straight down the middle of the stem its aesthetically pleasing. If it were a linear pull brake setup the wonky housing route would drive me apesh!t😂
I know the purists out there would skof about the disc specific hubs and chainset.. But that is a beauty... Well done with that one... The Ti brides still my fav so far 👌😎
You never know mate it may come back at some point and have a wheel upgrade 😉 she is a thing of beauty and more protect than when it was new. Thanks for the feedback. I am currently working on a new ti-bride, and she is a dirty one 🤣
The thing is this bike has got slightly out and hand, with regards to the wheelset, the disc hubs have been laced in rim brake rims which mean that the mavic 519s were basically like new - purchased like this. as for the groupset, this came on the bike and is all in good condition, although being built meticulously and turning out to be lovely over all it was only meant to be a freshen up
@shrippie-4214 🤣 maybe the wrong channel for you, my friend. Maybe check out my other channel pokepookies. I have gaming and all sorts there thumbs 👍 👌
@@BikeShedBoy No, I do use isopropyl alcohol though for grip install and removal. I'll take a fast food straw and lift up edge of grip and trickle ipa into opening. I'm kinda frugal(code for cheap) and do not like wasting a good grip that is merely grimey and needing a soapy wash. On a side note once after a beer too many I tried removing really stuck grips and removed skin from my palm lol. I was new at the time and didn't know about IPA or using an air compressor.
Love the build, I had the same bike in Matt black. The only thing is the black tape on the chainstay hate the look. A cockpit is an enclosed space?
Thanks for the feedback, mate. The tape is not permanent, and it's what my friend wanted. All in all, great build. I bet yours looks fantastic in Matt black 👍
Wondered what the shark fin was for , very nice looking bike
All sorts of reasons, dad. Keeping the chain crap of the braking area and also chain slap and jamming and so on and looks ultra cool and retro 😎
@@BikeShedBoy yeah it does look good
@accessarea6 cheers dad 👍
That thing is one very sweet bike the brakes are unbelievable. Great work as always mate

Aw, dude, where’s the wife? She’s such a great helper!
Mate the wife was away this weekend at the horror-con UK 2024. She had a blast of a time. I might even show a clip in the next video 👍
You had me until the pink brakes.
Do you not like the purple brakes. They are super rare and have fantastic braking power. I respect your opinion, mate 👍
Lovely 😍
Thank you 😊

Lovely build. Only things I’d change are the crank and handle bars. Looking forward to getting out on my C16r!
Thanks for the feedback. I have a feeling this will be back back for even more upgrades at some point 👍

May I ask: what tape did you put on the chain stay?

looks great.

I know what you are saying, mate 🤣 we even drive on the wrong side of the road in the UK 😎. The bike was an absolute pleasure to build.
Too nice to get dirty. Nice nice nice build.
I know, but she is super protected and ready for summer. I am so happy with the finish and the build overall 🙌 thanks for the feedback 👍

Wow, I have been waiting for this build for the last week since the short. Well done on the build 👏
Thanks for holding out for it mate 👍 super happy with the finish 😎

@GreenFingerHandyman cheers mate 👍
Here from your dads channel
Awesome, are you into bikes? I have some absolutely great builds and more to come. 👍

Lol maybe I'll get into it

Theres an easier way to deal with the grips....lock on!😂
100% 🤣 have you ever tried to fit them?
