Those first two albums were crazy good, I played them to death. Such underrated writers and musicians. Derry can flat out play. The Big Prize had sensational musicianship and arrangement. Bruce Fairbairn was one of the best producers ever.
The handling of the needle is a feature on most of these clips. I love it. Here you have maybe the funniest one.
Bob and Doug
I Got A New Girl Now!!! That’s my song at this time in my life😃Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏽
That is such a great song! Never gets old, just love it!!!
ONE OF MY 80S FAVORITES👍✌
Kudo to you guys for sticking with it ... back then and even still now, Canadian artists are ignored by the mainplay unless there is TONS of money behind you to promoters ... I was a single artist back then, and didn't have a change with the US market and not a lot of money in my pocket ! Love your stuff guys !
Graduated high school 1984 from Washington state three months later went to the Air Force. Thanks for sharing guys. This is one of my favorite hits of the 80s 💪 bought your first two albums!
Theses guys were underrated!! No too many people remember them.
I do🙂
I got to meet them at Sam the Record Man back in April ‘86
Very nice bunch of guys
I remember : )
The vocals are amazing and the guitar is awesome!
Do "Feel It Again!"
I listen to iHeart while I work, and Honeymoon Suite is one of my "channels". I never get enough HS. Always great to hear some backstory!
The first Honeymoon Suite album was solid and an Elliott Lake reference, awesome!
Saw you open for Heart in 1985...terrific show!
15 years ago towed our hot boats from MI to Elliott Lake to go camping and boating, had a great time. These guys were top notch and perfect for radio play back then.
Yep, covered that one back then.
This song kicks ass.
Love it everytime you guys play Honeymoon Suite!!
Feeling it again is also a good song,🎸
I clearly remember them winning the Q107 contest! I even remember hearing the slight differences between the original version submitted to the Q, and the version that ended up being on their debut album. I wonder why they didn't., or weren't able to, mention the name of that classic Toronto rock radio station.
My friend won that contest twice randy dawson.....it didnt help him all that much but it didnt hurt him either.great musician in his own right.
But that's not my point.. it's interesting they didnt release the demo. Yer right
.hmmm! ...peace yall , keep the faith
The mighty mighty q classic rock radio before the format existed
Shannon you're hot
The mighty Q was on the stereo for most of the 80s, it's now only a shadow of its former self.
How in TF have I not discovered your channel until now? Thank you so much for giving us a behind the scenes look at the songs & artists that shaped our youth. Damn, wish I'd found ya sooner.
Much love...:)❤
One of my all time favorite bands, fond memories, great music! Greetings all the way from Texas!
Great Band!
These guys rock. Still so good🎶🇨🇦
Aw hell yeah, weekends at Cactus Jack’s in Oklahoma City back in the great 1980’s in high school. 😎✌🏾
What a wonderful rockin' song!!
Derry you're handsome and charming you have a pleasant voice
Great song! Love you guys. Fellow Canadian.
I saw Honeymoon Suite 1986 at Copps coliseum
That was a Great concert
Erica Ehm was Co hosting.
Saw them live with helix way back when in winnipeg and was super impressed with them live and derry was amazing and his rig sounded excellent
I remember this song from when I was a kid in the '80's. Never new the name of the band, or that they were Canadian. Cool.
This song goes deep into my routes especially because of puberty. Man every girl I saw, this song popped into my head.
Roots. Not routes.
Music back then was so great, unlike the crap they're pushing now, growing up when the music was great made by real groups of talented musicians.
Cool stuff
Honeymoon Suite my era as a young adult..I like them even more now that I am a full adult :-)
I always remember this song as one that was played during and episode of Miami Vice.
Still have my 45 record of this song.
When I was in high school the girls went crazy for Johnnie. I wonder what they would think of him now.
I saw these guys at Kingswood music theatre in Canada's wonderland in 1984! They opened for April Wine in place of Corey Hart and I had no idea who they were. Once they hit the stage I knew who they were then! A great show and I liked a lot of their stuff. This tune was an ace for sure!
love it. remember all of you. great. still got the hots for my derry baby. love to see HMS one day
Drank lots of beer on that song back in the day and jump up to 2019 on my 60 birthday saw them and lee Arron and prism play and the singer didn’t even know what city he was playing in......lol, but they did a good show.
One of my all time fav AOR bands out there!! cool guys, great music. Cheerio.
Me: "this is nice and all but I'd rather they did 'Burning in Love.'"
Well, that didn't take long... 😂
Great song.
the first song and the best
Their video for feel it again had the best effects. Very realistic.
Cool riff
DAVE GROHL HAS THE ORIGINAL 2 INCH TAPE GUYS! (""The"" Neve)
Why is film maker Michael Moore sitting with Derry? ;)
I thought that was Robby Takac
Elliot Lake - there's a town you don't hear mentioned much. Lived there as a kid. Weird place!
God I'm old.
You’re not old dear, you’re well seasoned.
The great part of this song's video is, when the brick comes sailing through the window; there is Johnnie Dee-WITH NO SHIRT ON! Oh, my friggin' God! Eye Candy Alert!
Laurie Mitchell Jones
Season 1 Miami Vice!!!
The annoying thing is, because of royalty disputes, you will rarely hear
the original songs used in those episodes on the DVD release.
I'm playing new girl now in my band. We need another background singer haha
"Bring back the 2 inch tape!" Should be a bumper sticker or something
Geez Handsome is gorgeous...
What happened to Ray ?
IT'S SO FUNNY to watch the superstars cue up the LP
Oh, Canada...... 🇨🇦
Why are you not telling the story..... you entered Q107 battle of the bands and part of the deal was studio time. You owe it to them... I remember it like yesterday
Can't beat ANALOG BaBy !!😎👍🏻👍🏻
"Lethal Weapon"
I'll bet Johnny's head weighs 67 lbs...
He's got a head on him like a bastard cat
My head weighs 67 pounds! Oh you mean the head on your shoulders. 😁
Why is Derry Grehan sitting beside Michael Moore? Oh nevermind. Please keep him there.
Never heard of them.
I was a classic rock DJ and had deep ties in rock. No idea who that is.
Never heard of Honeymoon Suite? Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada. Canadian band. Most Canadians don't get a lot of airplay in the U.S., it's sad.
They had about 5-6 pretty big tunes, including New Girl Now, Feel It Again, What Does It Take, Lost and Found and a few others. They had a good presence here in the Detroit area.
Charles Burris Huge hit even in the states when it came out, and regular rotation on MTV. Still such a great track.
Yeah you and a lot of people that didn't live in the border states next to Canda. I lived in the WNY area and they were played heavily. Love them! Now I live below the Mason Dixon line and just get blank stares if I mention them.
Not deep enough it seems. The song could be consider "classic" now with all the time that has passed since it was released.
They played the song way too much on Canadian radio.
And he says that same thing over and over again.
Meh
