About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in (1997) and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

They did a wise decision on this album by giving Graham more musical freedom.
Agreed underrated album imo. Love the production. I’m in states and always leaned toward the mainstream uk stuff in this era than the stuff in states. The aftermath/lame Pearl Jam inspired bands still own mainstream radio. Gross. Great track here though.
And tbh they kinda echoed in more styles rather than British Invasion music. They echoed in lo-fi, psychedelia, grunge, noise rock, electronica etc.
@@paulrossi8608 unfortunately the lame Oasis and blur inspired but sanitized bands here still dominate the alt scene. Not the radio so much as thats mostly rap garbage
5 years on, what a comment
@@subterraneanoreo3102 Los beatles estaban en la nada misma y en 7 años fueron pioneros de casi el 70 por ciento de la musica de las proximas 5 decadas futuras.
Apparently Graham recorded this song in the studio while laying under a table with all the lights out because he was embarrassed. I hardly know anything about this man and I already cherish him ❤
Wouldn't surprise me. Graham introduced the lo fi and Americana aesthetic to blur from this album and going forward
hes so cute
That "random" solo just fits so good
Yess!
There are to songs with a special random solo…this one and Cakes I will survive. The definition of „random“ solo
After my opinion one of the greatest Lo-fi tracks I´ve heard.
"one of the greatest tracks I´ve heard." There. I corrected it for you. :)
Have you ever checked out Elliott Smith’s first three albums? They play very well on that kind of sound/production quality in my opinion- especially “either/or.” I’m also a little biased though bc he’s totally my favorite recording artist and songwriter ever
This track's so great and I love it.
@@urineanxiety naturally we like what we like.
devoiced - This is lo-fi, it is a low definition recording. You’re confusing lo-fi with chillhop, which literally everyone does
Graham’s voice is just so soft!!
This is my favorite song to listen to while looking at the mirror
Self love

This song never fails at getting my tears flowing
Me too bruv❤
my favourite song of blur. i`m crying
Sad, drunk, and poorly
Sleeping really late
Sad, drunk, and poorly
Not feeling so great
Wandering lost in a town full of frowns
Sad, drunk, and poorly
Dogs digging up the ground
And I feel the light
In the night and in the day
And I feel the light
When the sky's just mud and grey
And I feel the light
When you tell me it's OK
Cos you're so great, and I love you
Tea Tea and coffee
Helps to start the day
Tea Tea and coffee
Shaking all the way
City's alive and, surprise, so am I
Tea, tea and coffee
Get no sleep today
And I feel the light
In the night and in the day
And I feel the light
When the sky's just mud and grey
And I feel the light
When you tell me it's OK
Cos you're so great, and I love you
I know this has probably been said a bunch of times but in the second verse he actually says GT and coffee, not tea tea and coffee
I think it’s DT and coffee (delirium tremens) it’s what happens to some people when they get withdrawal symptoms from alcohol which is why he says shaking all the way afterwards
@@sopht5360 You are the one.
Gracias
The great Graham Coxon
This song is so cute....I never heard this song before and Im already obsessed with it...
I played this for my 12-year-old a few days ago and she has adopted it as her own. Sorry guys, no one else can play it now :*( Kidding, I wish the whole world knew this song.
@@laststraw6734 thats so cute!
If you understand the context behined the lyrics it gets less cute and more sad. Might get the cute with out the context but with it, it is just sad.
@@MinkxiTes is it about a depressed alcoholic in recovery? hence the "DT and coffee" and "Shaking all the way."
I know the context now, now I just think this songs sad now 😭
cos you're so great and I love you
this song’s so great and I love it.
I really cried at this....
Didn't we all
I'm an Oasis fan but not Blur's hater, this song and "Sing" from Leisure are probably my favorites songs from them. Graham voice is amazing
You should check "Trimm Trabb"
Sing is very underrated as is all of Leisure honestly
You know it shouldn’t always be a either/or situation right?
@@cameronf5647as a fan of the Madchester sound, I recognize Leisure is great
I'm an oasis fan too cuz they both great. Blur tho is my favorite
best song ever
Blur really should have done more tracks with Coxon on lead vocals.... that kind of dynamic didn’t do Oasis any harm
Bruh yes it did...
@@callumfisher8101 for the gallaghers relationship it didnt help as liam was annoyed that noel was singing but for the music it added another dynamic and helped them
definitely didn’t do blur any harm, i love graham’s voice. but noels voice is so irritating to me lmao
@@awesome-xg4hl lol, yeah I agree, Noel's voice is trash, and above all when he sings Liam's parts
@@gyromitre1588 fucking what? Noel's voice is great, you good bruh?
Dear Graham...🍀
You are so great, and I love you!💞
Graham is so Barrett. That's part of what I like about him
Totally agree
like syd barrett? wdym
@@chloeelle751 it sounds like Syd Barrett's solo work.
He is nothing like barrett plays guitar, sings ... thats about it
@@donnyrover1 in this song he does
Always good on a slow Sunday morning.
love this song. listening to it as it should be listened to- sad drunk and poorly
_This song is so great._
this song reminds me (and will probably forever) of one of my best friends who helped me trough very hard and dark times where i thought i never wanted to really live again, just die in bed, but i am doing alot better now, not perfect, but better. I listened to this song for probably months when i got to school in the morning, it kinda helped me getting myself to actually go there, it told me that there are actually people like him who really care and worry about me.
So thank you max, this song will forever help me trough my dark times because it reminds me of you, love you bro
I'm so happy Graham is still with us
We don't deserve Graham
@Michael South who hurt you lmao
Knowing what happened to Graham during Think Tank era, this song just got depressing in my opinion.
Angela Garrucha Yeah, I agree
Angela Garrucha what happened
pastry phantom During the recording of the Think Tank sometime in 2001-2002, Graham has an alcohol problem which affected the way he acts around the band. He was kicked out during the whole thing and was only at one song. The song “Sweet Song” from the album was written by Damon when he looked at a picture of him during the sessions.
Listening to this song reminded me of this era of Blur.
@@angelagarrucha2117 That's the depressing story? I thought you were about to say somebody died.
@@mikede2291 get rekt libtard

This song is sooo good ! I had never heard it before I’m 18. I discovered Graham Coxon because of The End Of The Fucking World
That's great! Graham is actually my (music) hero
I'm glad that show turned you on to a great, underappreciated musician. I hope it does the same for many more people.
You’re so great and I love you.
another 1 of my instantly fav./best, beautiful blur ballade songs. harder to play but successful.
Sounds like MBV's "Off your face". Both are lovely songs!!!
I think this song just fueled my depression. 🥲

Graham Coxon is the best guitarist of the 90's. He is also the King Of Muppets. Discuss.

This song beats the US 90s lo-fi scene at its own game. What a brilliant, Alex Chilton-inspired tune.

Coffee and TV 1.0
Sad, Drunk and Poorly. Well, if Graham can beat the bottle I can too. You know, my drinking became heavily in 2017 after my grandma died, its 2022 now, still struggling. If anyone says you need help, go to AA and everything else, well I need someone who really listen to me and understand me. But, have my family make my suicide attempt like a joke or like (in their words) "a 23 year old boy" who just want to seeking attention", make me sick. I'm tried to stay alive the best I can, but you know, it's hard to be in a world when everyone see you just like a weight. But i will still try to he the best I can without my family, it's not easy, I know that family is important, but I'm my case was never there. What a shame, but keep going the best I can :)
How are you doing 4 months later, dude?
