You also want to minimise the amount of stress from doing tight turns on loaded trucks, so you need to set them up so that they turn in empty to be loaded and drive straight when loaded rather then load and then turn. For ADT’s I try to keep most of the weight on the axles and load from the tailgate forwards to avoid shock stress on the main pivot.

Always make sure your bench is able to hold the iron sitting on it. If you load off the side like that, you should always be ready to use that bucket to support and walk yourself, and that machine, to safety.
I LOVE the channel. The only thing I'm a "pro" at; learning what not to do.. I appreciate the reality and emphasis on safety

You don't have to boom all the way out the material that's closest to you is what you want to get ideally. Remember production you're moving dirt

You can load more in a off-road dump without a tail gate if you start from the back. It provides a "barrier" for the bucket loads toward the front to roll forward instead of back out of the the truck.

I really only have 2 points for this and 1 is safety focused the other is just a tip or trick. But safety focused cause I used to work feeding a jaw/cone crusher on a bench you never ever want to have your tracks set like this is only cause if it falls away in front of you no matter what happens you'll go too. At least if your digging over the tracks and it gets hairy you can slam them to hopefully get back. Also it takes some weight away from the counterweight cause your drive motors then aren't acting as counterweight when set up like this so your get that bum pucker when you lift something heavy and it wants to pull forward. It's just best practice to dig over the tracks. The second tip really depends on the operator but some won't use a horn at all or only when loaded. When signally the first bucket they dump it in to say stop. And some operators when set up in this arrangement will just place the bucket off the ground but beside the bin to say finished. Only cause some of those cabs I found especially komatsu you can barely hear a horn over the two way or radio, so the bucket is another sign as long as the driver is paying attention. And then some operators just give a buzz on the two way normally one word etc. Loading wise I agree steady loading depending on material e.g. bark over clay would be softer. But most operators I find do the 3 rule one in the front one in the middle and one in the rear depending on bucket and truck size of course. All round good pointer tips.

Remember the key fundamentals for loading.
    1. Bring the truck to the dirt, not the other way around. (On wide cuts/benches where your swing exceeds 110* load each 'swipe' with 2 trucks (or more) before moving back and load the first truck with the closet 1/2 of the material and place the 2nd truck where you just removed the material for the 1st truck from.)
    2. Fill the bucket every time. (Top it up before hoisting if you only grab a 1/2 bucket.)
    3. Don't unnecessarily drag a full bucket through the dirt. (once it's full begin hoisting to the truck)
    4. Don't walk over the same ground twice. (Preplan your advancing path so you don't have to walk the excavator back over an area you've already been. You could have spent that time loading...)
    5. Don't back yourself into a corner. (Similar to bringing the truck to the dirt, you pre plan your advancing path as so you are not finishing in situation where the material to be removed is on the opposite side of the excavator and requiring you to perform 180* loading.)
    And importantly...
The fundamental concept of loading with track machines is that since they swing in circles and we're working in squares, always consider where the remaining 'triangles' will be and incorporate them into your work plan/methodology. (Remove the triangle from the beginning of the next bench before walking back so when you begin your next bench your not positioned too close to the end of the bench to reach the dirt out to your left, which is also close to the trucks tray. *If you position your truck correctly and not as shown in this video. Remember, the #1 most efficient style of loading is 'through the gate' which means you bring the bucket over the truck from the rear and spill the dirt as you continue swinging towards the front of the truck, by the time you stop swinging towards the front you should have emptied your bucket and without pause, begin to swing back to your dirt. The same principle applies for this too, by the time you swing back to where you pre-planned to get the next bucket from you should immediately be ready to begin filling it and not have to sit stationary while you finish lowering it to the ground.)

Do you mean for the dump truck or excavator? Because generally it doesn't matter if the dump truck driver can see inside the bed once parked in the right place, and the excavator operator can already see inside.

The ideal bench cut set up is a drive by bench cut. Dump truck drivers are not the brightest in the world so you want to avoid making them back up at all cost. You want to sit ontop of the bench cut and have the trucks pull in facing you, cab to driver side. As the truck pulls up beside you, parallel to the cut, you will swing over the tailgate and honk to stop the truck where you want it to stop. Stock pile lose dirt between trucks so that you dig easy and do not swing to far to your right, to keep a tight swing angle. Load truck, honk the horn and repeat. You also want to set up your haul road like a race track so that truck drivers do not have to think very much all they have to do is drive forward, stop on the horn and go on the horn. Not every situation allows you to run it this way but this is the ideal set up and should be your goal to always try to set up this way. You can run this same pattern but loading off of your blind side but this is not ideal.

@Jordan Solid advice, but you’re being a bit presumptuous by stating dump truck drivers are not the “brightest” I started out as a dump truck driver then started my own excavating business and ran the excavator for many years. Thus, I have experienced both sides. Driving a truck is less cognitively demanding which can get most people into an automated way of functioning, it does not mean they’re not bright in fact most own their own business and fair better than the average human. At least in Canada where most are owner operators. I wouldn’t make sweeping statements about a persons mental abilities without seeing how they manage the rest of their affairs in life. I have many superstar operators that work for me but, don’t know the first thing about saving or investing their money which results in living pay check to pay check. One could argue that is not too bright. My point is people are good at different things your talents don’t necessary confer intelligence and your short falls don’t necessarily make you dumb.

I run a cat 336 with a muck bucket usually on it. When you load on road trucks over the gate like this in the video it only gives you 6 inches on each side and typically you can’t load the truck very full without spilling it out of the truck. I prefer driver side cab to to cab and that way the truck is moving with you. less maneuvers the better simple is key. Personal opinion with perfect circumstance. Good video otherwise.

Thank you for keeping things simple and the steps in a easy to follow flow. The one thing I have been looking for is what does the overload alarm sound like on a 240 Hyex?
Is it supposed to go off (alarm) when the boom is over to the side even when the bucket isn’t even full?
Does it sound different in any of the other models?
    Thanks

By the time you are ready to attempt that task, you wouldn't (shouldn't) require advice pitched at beginners, especially advice from YT videos.
This video is for someone who has never loaded trucks before and barely driven an excavator before, you load like this at a worksite where the boss expects maximum output from the loading unit and you'll find yourself back in the truck pretty quickly. If you're boss is willing to let you learn and practice in the workplace or doesn't expect a high output then this video will help get u started....

This is how NOT to load an off road truck. First you’re starting your cut wrong. The. Your truck positioning is wrong. You want the truck parallel to the excavator with the cab of the truck pointed to the counter weight of the excavator. That way when you swing you have a bigger target to hit. And you start to dump the dirt out the bucket as soon as the bucket gets over the rear of the truck. Once the bucket is empty you swing back in the same direction. It’s one smooth movement. Your swing should stop for a split second. If you have the truck vertical. It takes more time to empty the bucket.... If I catch any of my workers loading like you say. I’d ask them wtf are you doing. You obviously don’t know how to move dirt.

Ain’t no efficiency with you moving that damn slow it only takes 60 seconds to load that truck completely to the top with it spilling over just as much as you can put on it and bigger scoops of dirt would help fill them buckets up if you gone give tip you needs be a real operator
