I love how Jarrod has gradually evolved from "monotone boring voice" to "slightly enthusiastic monotone voice" :D Also back on topic, so happy that they finally removed that horrible power plug socket in the middle of the left handside. As a lefty, that's one thing that always kept me away from it.
Money is a great motivator lol
My first thought was 'Oh he must have had a few drinks before recording this'
Body language has also intensified.
@@Tom_Quixote Bit gay though
Indeed, you love to see it :)
Asus 2023: "yeaaah booyy!! Lets slap rtx 4090 in a 14 inch laptop"!!
Asus 2024: "yeah i guess 4090 are a bit too much for 14 inch laptop"
😂😂😂
3:31 thank you for the side view. Disappointed that it's still not even vertically but overall a massive step up in the design
Damn they really stepped it up this year the G14 looks extremely premium.
But however, the RAM is soldered. This time, it's completely without slots despite 32GB.
Ii feels like the G16 with RTX4090 is the direct upgrade from the last year G14 RTX4090, while this year G14 is a thinner and less powerful version totally focused on portability. Big sad that we lost a unicorn 14" enthusiast laptop with a top dog GPU.
That resolution is gonna kill this thing in future, too. 1800p with a 4060 laptop? yikes.
@@spencer871 Wtf bro it's a14" laptop. Having more than 1440p is pointless. If you want 4k get a monitor 😂
@@spencer871there is no way you said 1800p is gonna kill a 14 inch laptop with a mobile 4060 lmfao
@@spencer871
You're the type of person who would buy a 4K phone and hold it 4ft from their face talking about clarity.
The 14-inch with the 4090 will still be available, just with the chassis from the 2023 model.
That G16 with Meteor Lake and 4090 looks REALLY nice. I hate the trend of soldered memory though as my RAM needs are larger than most people have so there rarely are off-the-shelf specs that serve me.
Damn they still solder memory? What a joke.
@@andreykuratov6778they actually used to not solder but this year they went back to it 😭💀
I think it just comes down to work flow. The older model has replaceable memory and storage, in a larger design. This year's model has soldered memory but they are able to run it at insanely high transfer speeds (more than if it was replaceable). So the question is just do you want portability and memory speed? Or power and replaceability?
@@gsquared1997 soldered RAM is same speed though? On desktop DDR5 tops 100GB/s.
@@InnocentiusLacrimosa sure but on laptops most ddr5 dims top 5600
Jarrod, any idea when we can expect a more in depth review? Very curious about battery life. I’m between this and the new omen transcend.
When will the full video be released
You should change the title of the previous video. 14th gen is not Meteor Lake. Intel announced that the 14th gen HX is raptor refresh for high-end gaming laptops.
hello, is there any option to switch off the slash lighting? kinda awkward to use that when in the office.
2 Questions, is there not gonna be a M16 this year? and what happened to 4070ti Laptops are they not coming this year as well?
still having soldered memory on the G14 is what puts me off, and its even worse this year. at least allow up to 64GB RAM
At least in the g16
im thinking about getting this as my daily driver. i have 2 monitors, im wondering how much air flow i will lose if i close the laptop and set it up vertically?
I say, the Legion slim series finally has a rival design wise. Lets see if they can keep up with the Legions in terms of performance. Please do compare them when you are able to test it.
how much do you think this will cost
Razar blade is the rival
I think they are way too overpriced for similar specs.@@oluwadarejoshua8595
Asus zen book 14x
Lenovo still has ethernet jack though
Does the right hand side USB-C port on the G14 take power delivery now?
Amazing video and yeah I plan to get the m16 2024 full spec definetly my favorite laptop I do have a question though would it be able to run the new ROG OLED PG32UCDP?
Great video thank you and happy new year
The part I like the most about these is the Top facing speakers (Truly needs to be a standard), and the quality OLED displays, would need to know the Burn-in rates first though. Although I really would love a dedicated keypad since I use it a lot. My Dell G15 has one. I see no reason the G16 couldn’t.
possibly because the Dell G15 is a far larger computer now that the Zephyrus models have shrunk. also, most people don't use numpads...
Oh god.... I hope that the removal of vents at the sides are not a step back in thermal management(looks like it). I work at a reseller and there's always a difference between laptops who play/work at 95°c ish and laptops at 75ish not just the cpu/gpu can get fried. There are many tiny component that are also compromised by having a 95 degree cpu/gpu. Glad to see all those upgrades... but thermals is a critical factor for me to even to sell a laptops not just for my personal taste.
Jarrod, when do you think these will be available to buy this in the U.S.?
Nice video timing right after ASUS ROG CES! Keep it up Jarrod, I’ve learned alot from your videos❤
He had the samples for at least 1 week prior CES. The video was made a lot earlier and auto-published on embargo-lift day (after CES).
They look wayy better, but i really miss the G15 with Ryzen cpu
I am looking to buy a new laptop, and since the old Scar 18 is out of stock everywhere, do we think the new Sacr 18 will get similar enough performance to be worth the money?
Do we know what the space where these NPUs are on a CPU were used for in the past?
Are prices out yet? Seeing as that's the most important metric?
do both left and right side type-c ports (G14) support charging?
It looks like Asus was feeling the challenge from the Lenovo Legion Slim 14 and 16, and redesigned the G14 and G16 to surpass those.
And likely failed.
@@cameronbosch1213 The Slim 14 still doesn't have VRR of any sort in its screen, so it's a dud.
You’re so wrong. They’re trying to catch up to Razer. The main reason people pay a premium is because Razer has the most premium chassis and sleek professional macbook look.
Trust me nobody feels threatened by Lenovo and their cheap plastic laptops with numpads crammed on them
@@peterc6559 asus should also make their GPUs of zephyrus on the high wattage side. Their last year models still use underpowered GPUs
@@peterc6559 LMAO, I was thinking the same. The g14 sold way more than the lenovo 14, who the fuck cares about lenovo? Even on sale people still preferred the g14.
Do you think the new nvidia super gpu series will have an effect on the 4050 laptop gpu prices?
The new G14 looks soo clean! It's so close to a more stealthy look rather than a gamer one and I'm all for it!
nah bro, that middle strip is ugly af, and no one thinks my 2022 g14 looks gamery at all
@@Pividol I'll still take the new look over the old one. That back panel lighting on the old one looks like a kid's toy.
@fidelisitor8953 most models sold didn't have the lights, and with the lights disabled they look the same
@@Pividol The middle strip is beautiful. Each to their own I guess...
This year's G14 seems like a huge regression in most areas from the previous models from 2022 and 2023. The loss of optional high-end dGPU, ergo-hinge design, ethernet port, vapour chamber, mini LED and shaved-off battery capacity stick out the most as negatives. At the same time, the forfeiture of AniMatrix display (an inconsistent gimmick with poor global availability and a huge encumbrance for the weight); the addition of optional OLED upgrade, 6-speaker system with enhanced audio, official USB4 support and third fan for the chipset; the switch to unibody aluminium chassis, LPDDR5 memory (albeit limited to 32 GB), wider touchpad, and seemingly better looking, more legible and functional keyboard layout are definite improvements to an otherwise amazing series of laptops with proven track record. Areas I would like to see improved: higher memory capacity (up to 96 GB SODIMM or 64GB LPDDR5/x, which Zen4 capably runs); the reintroduction of vapour chamber, which should make even more sense in a thermally constrained and dense setting with lower risk of dry-out or uneven heat accumulation; functionality, visibility and capabilities (solar charging, ambient light sensor etc.) of the slash lighting LED; reintroduction of mini-LED option; True HDR capable LED panels with 500+ cd luminance; and finally, allow charging through USB-C at higher than 135W.
They’ve explained explicitly that making a powerful usb c charger for the product is extremely expensive and inefficient atm.
agreed that its a regression its no longer as powerful nor is it as good thermal wise due to the removal of the side vents but it should still stay cool because the chip is less powerful also i feel like the Zephyrus in a few years should even be gaming branded if they are going to go the extreme thin and light rout at a major cost to performance
@@Reaperzx6 the laptop now sucks in air from the keyboard and speaker grilles itself from what was shown. It seems the cnc aluminum and triple fan system also help a lot.
Probably a stupid question but is a review of the G16 coming soon? I'm curious how the noise metrics are to see if upgrading to the vapor-chamber-eqipped 4080 version is worth it over the 3-fan 4070.
Hi Jarrod long time no see
I note that RUclips starts being boring without your new content
I wish for you the best
happy new year
Lots of CES videos coming up this week!
Nice, thanks Jarrod. Do you reckon the speakers on the 14 sound better than the MBP 14? They've been the ones to beat, so far.
Dave2d mentioned in his video that it sounds about as good as macbook speakers so it should be nice.
@@fidelisitor8953 excuse the deleted comment if you got that before I re-read your comment, properly this time! Missed that it was said by someone different in a different video. Great to know thanks. :)
@@fidelisitor8953 TheTechChap said the new 2024 Asus Zephyrus 14 had the best laptop speakers he'd heard before, & JustJosh said he'd seen an upcoming Alienware 16 inch laptop that sounded better than the MBP 16. So some big calls! So nice that Windows machine manufacturers are FINALLY putting decent speakers in. 720p potato cams are also becoming a thing of the past.
Are the prices redesigned upwards or downwards tho
When is the release on these? Are they comparable to the 2024 Rog Strix with the i9 14th gen
I wish they kept the rams slots and got rid of the slash whatever display.
Wow no vapor chamber soldered ram and higher resolution screens with no 4080 plus option? Lame. I’ll stick with my 2023 for this year!
Whats the weight of the g16 you reviewed here? You did the weight comparison for the g14 but not the g16 🤔
Does the speaker sound as good as the mac book pro?
Will the new asus rog strix and scar series reviews come out soon? I want to buy a 2023 strix g16 i9 13980HX with 4060 but should I wait for a sale if the 2024 models will come out soon?
When will they be available?
what about the M16 lineup ?
aren't they lunching these laptops this year ?
if yes, would it be with the old intel CPUs, or is there any chance that they are using amd on it ?
it would be super convenient if all the ports were on the left side of the laptop or if they made an XG mobile Hub and included in the laptop
Hi Jarrod. Do these new screens have glass overlay? How bad is the reflection problem?
I think they use Gorilla Glass no?
What abort the noises of the cooling fans?
Looks pretty awesome. Only downside is the soldered memory. I think I'd prefer a thicker chassis vs soldered memory but other than that, looks like a killer lineup this year. I hope the pricing will be good.
When will these get released?
Really good review, thanks!
I'm really looking forward for the Lenovo legion slim series to see if they will now have an OLED screen as well.
I wanted to buy the legion slim 7 gen 8 AMD, but they are out of stock, now I'll wait and see what's new in the next generation
How would you compare speakers to that of MacBook pro
Jarrod will there be 7000 or 8000 apu laptops this year with 760m or 780m. Like Ideapad series or Acer Aspire series.
do you know the release date?
The Zephyrus G14 and G16 impresses me this year. I love the design of the G14 2024. So minimalist and lightweight. Probably gonna do a video on all G14 laptops
The / defeat the whole minimalist concept
Its so out of place
"The Zephyrus G14 impresses me this year" Why? it''s a 100% downgrade except for the weight. And they lock you in with their new propriety charger which you can only purchase at asus, and you lost the ethernet port.
@@sebkeccu4546 It's not a downgrade that's for sure. I absolutely the new G14, it looks and feels alot more like a premium laptop with that new design and material, almost seems like it can beat the Razer quality which is so renowned. Hopefully battery life will last longer too.
@@Yayaloy9 upgrades and downgrades that affect your games or applications are about performance, not about laptop housing materials. If my laptop suddenly has become allumium instead of plastic, my game will not go faster. But if you downgrade cpu,ram and gpu (like in this case) everything will be slower. There is nothing wrong with what they did, but it should not have been done with a product that is known for gaming performance. Now it just looks like an asus vivobook pro 3 with the same lower performance
@@sebkeccu4546youre talking about the new lineup like you're gonna use it for a desktop, in which case get literally any other laptop. The new Zephyruses are *laptops*, they are designed to be more efficient. You say that this product is known for gaming performance, but imo they're more well known for their balance of aesthetics and performance instead of leaning one way over another
I was considering to just get the 2022 model with 6700s because all of this upgrade ram issues. Even tho i love the 2024 design a lot more. Do i pick the right choice here? Thnx anyway for answering
It's 2024 and jarrod's back. Let's gooo🔥🔥
Just bought g16 2023 i9 rtx 4060 for a 2k display for a major discount, excellent laptop really well built and looks great. seems like these continue in that direction.
So, does this mean that the 4070 and below GPUS will still have that 100 voltage limit?
DOA because of the proprietary charger. We already have USB-C power, even on AMD - what a stupid decision!
There is no usbc charging on those ?
@@pedrohenrique-wb3ed It does, but not enough wattage.
When did a proprietary charger become a deal breaker?
Also, on each laptop, one of the USB port can be used for charging.
Soldered memory is a deal breaker
Only if u need more than 32, it's super fast 7400+ (no sticks in laptops run that fast)
@@moken-cf7vu CAMM?
@@moken-cf7vu having replaceable parts of a machine you own is better, also I'm pretty sure they're just going to screw us over in ram pricing
@@2the431 well, all 4060 and upper version will come with 32 gb which is enough for me. I guess this time around its gonna be one of the few laptops with soldered ram thanks to that ultra cpu. Ofc, replacable is better but in case of ram 32 is ok today, 64 as an option would have been better though)
@@moken-cf7vu That super fast ram is being held back by the GPU anyway. It was done for packaging and being able to do Apple style of milking the customer.
What about prices?
does any1 know that if I plug a usb c into my graphics card on my laptop if it will boost performance or will it just be the same
Jarrod I really need to know a definitive answer to this after CES. Omen Transcend 14 or Zephyrus G14?
For my use case, I'm super happy with this G14 update! Can't wait for your full review!! I am strongly considering purchasing one for college.
Also just wanted to mention, super cool how the slash light will have that functionality!
Will there be new Zephyrus m16 this year?
they should have added an extra keys to G16, dedicated home END PGUP PGDWN buttons at least. And make proper-spaced arrow keys
Is any of these oleds touch capablre?

Any change to have a comparision betwing CPUs for 13th gent including procesors like i7 13620H and AMD
My G14 2020 model life is coming to an end so I am planning an upgrade next year. Hope they release a g16 amd version.
How is the g14 sound compare to say macbook pro 14/16 where thry have the best speakers
Why we didn't see a revised m16 or s16, are they gone for this year??!
Just got the Zephyrus G16 2023 with a 4060 for 860 bucks at Best Buy. I'm very happy with it.
great decision, you can upgrade the ram, i bought a tuf a month ago and everything can be upgraded, not being able to upgrade a gaming laptop is a fkn nightmare!
@@Deadsoul-wo4of thanks! I'll definitely upgrade the ram with another 16. It's a nice laptop.
do you guys think the mini led will be the norm ? will the others follow with this like the Alienware and Lenovo legion 7 .?
Probably not yet, especially with the color accuracy issues that the halo effect due the current low dimming zone count. But when it matures and we get a much higher density of mini-leds, which means more dimming zones, It will likely be the standard for mid-range gaming laptops, while OLED and higher end Mini-LED panels become the standard for high end gaming laptops.

When does the asus F16 release?
When I saw the thumbnail I was just saying to myself that why these Premium Laptops doesn't have an OLED screens? Finally they have.
Does the new G14 finally have pass through USB C charging?
I have a mixbag of feelings about the g14. I have the 2022 model and I would lile to be better in thermals. If this part is better, well, the laptop was already almost perfect, imagine it thinner, lighter and smaller!? I am in love with this, despite the not upgreadable ram!
Did you have problems with the chassis?
Painting and so on. Many people say they had.
I'm thinking of getting the 2023 version now that it'll become cheaper (and 4080).
@@osricen not at all. I only had problems with the battery connecting cable..but it was easy to repair.
Happy new year ✨
Anyone knows when the new G14 will be available?
The slash ruins the clean anesthetic. Why not make it optional or simply have an LED Asus ROG logo in the corner instead?
personally would've taken ram slots over the kind of pointless system fan in the G14, but hey. also they totally could've kept ethernet on the g16 if they just made it a flip-down slot like every other manuf lol. also kind of absurd they just made the vapor chamber massive and got rid of the ram slots, big L for asus this year it seems.
And Lenovo and especially Dell.
Didnt expect to see you here haha. Love your commentary my guy. Also did not know youre a g14 guy. Cheers
Pointless one of people usual complaints about the zephyrus is the thermals and the fact is that a good majority of these manufactures have been switching to soldered ram for their 14 inch models
Wonder how the battery life is.
Im looking to buy a hybrid work/gaming laptop, and the g14 looks fantastic. If the battery life is great I think I'll probably get it.
The hp omen laptop also looks kinda nice
I am using a G14 2022 here. 2023 battery life is longer than 2022. So anyway here's how I used mine. My g14 usually last around 6-8 hours of used. I used like 20-40% brightness, firefox with 10-ish active tab, and Vscode web development in WSL mode. I run mine in armoury crate silent mode.
2024 battery life should be better than 2023 so i guess you can expect a solid 8 hours minimun if you were to use it like me. Another option I would recommend is the XPS 14 2024, seems like it's also another contender with the G14.
What’s the weight of the G16 that you measured? Listed at 1.85kg but that can be off
Actual weight is usually within margins of error of the listed weight so it doesn't matter what shows up in his scale. Whatever he measures will be around the same weight as what's listed by ASUS.
Hey man, it’s been a while, when will you drop your review on these? Im thinking of buying the 16 4090 and i need ur opinion; especially on the gaming side of things.
G14 is already up: ruclips.net/video/-i7ocqfFrOk/видео.html
Unfortunately, we've been struggling to get the G16 from ASUS. They assure us it will be soon™
@@JarrodsTech I sure hope they’re not hiding anything from you since they know you’re an honest reviewer and will describe the product as is! Asus give this man a G16 right now! We want a review!
not a fan of the slash light but i am super impressed with this laptop. cpu is a downgrade from last gen since the new one has 16 cores instead of 24, but overall the laptop looks clean and starting to resemble a macbook more than the surface laptop series. having an amd option is a plus, and sad that the thin chassis is not available for the 4080 and 4090 on the g14. wish they do come out in the future
How know this HDR is meaning HDR10 like on Macbook? I don't need to have DolbyVision HDR?
What’s the difference for 2024 m16?
Thermals are going to make or break this design change. I'd guess that a little stand that raises up the laptop for airflow will probably be hugely beneficial for serious gaming sessions. But otherwise it looks amazing!
I have an XPS 15 from 2019. I just use whatever I have lying around... ereader, book, cell phone....
Totally agree with thermals. I'm curious on how the 4090 is going to perform as well. Is the 4090 getting its full TDPwattage or did they lower that?
Amazing video as always, Jared! Keep up the great work! I have one question if you dont mind, which do u think looks better, the new OLED displays you just tried or the newish miniled display that was bragged about alot during 2023? 🤔
Well he litwrally said that Oled is the *best* for him
I hope they add oleds to other laptops in the lineup this year (I am gunning to buy a Duo 16 as a dual work + gaming laptop) have a pdf document on the bottom screen + data entry on the main screen 😉
Samsung Display OLED and it ain’t close.
OLED is the best. I'll be getting the new g16 with this gorgeous 240Hz OLED and rtx 4090. This is exactly what I've been looking for in a laptop. Sleek and beautiful design like the blade and macbook laptops with a powerful DGPU and a high refresh OLED display.
And… how is the thermal performance?
did the ASUS rog Zephyrus duo 16 got any new upgrade ?
are they any new laptops with dual screen?
Do you know anything about the ASUS ROG Flow Z13/14 series 2024?
Glad I got the last gen g14 with the 4080. Looks like they nerfed it.
