I’ve water-fasted at True North, attended their lectures and watched videos on WFPB SOS free eating and food prep. It’s been life changing. When I go in for routine lab work, my medical providers all encourage me to keep doing what I’m doing.
On Sunday, before my work week, I prepare foods I can take to work for lunch. This typically includes grains such as brown rice or forbidden rice or large chopped salads in glass (not plastic) containers. Before I go to bed, I typically put uncooked oatmeal, low glycemic fruit and spices (cinnamon and/or cardamom) in a mini-crockpot on my kitchen counter plugged in to a smart plug that turns on my crockpot an hour before my wake-up alarm goes off. I move the oatmeal to a glass container and pack it in the insulated bag I take to work. Then I throw filtered water, cinnamon, fruit (typically apples) and greens (chard, spinach, mixed baby greens) into my Vitamix. This green drink is poured into a glass bottle (re-used Voss water bottle). In the mini crockpot, I fill it with a layer of the pre-cooked grains, and whatever vegetables I have in my refrigerator (mushrooms, bell peppers, zucchini) and sometimes tempeh. I top it with greens and pack it with my green drink and homemade dressing in my insulated bag. Sometimes I spiralize zucchini and add tomato paste and Italian seasoning. Or I might bring a huge veggie loaded salad. Or lentils or kidney beans with veggies, tomato paste and balsamic vinegar. Last, I pack a piece of low glycemic fruit. At work, I drink hot water and then my green drink. See how I extended my fasting window? I eat my oatmeal as a mid-morning snack and then plug in my mini crockpot to warm up lunch. After I eat my lunch, I walk around my office complex. My fruit is my mid-afternoon snack. Dinner at home is typically re-heated leftovers. My favorite is a light dinner of pre-baked and reheated red potatoes with a sauce made of filtered water, cashews and apple cider vinegar.
I’m not sure about their current rates. If you call them, they’ll answer all your questions. Before going to True North, everyone has a phone conversation with Dr Goldhamer first. He asks about any health issues and what your goals are.
I became vegetarian in my late teens. At 25 I heard about vegans and decided to become one. I am now 57 and doing very well, no meds at all. I wasn't eating a really healthy vegan diet. I ate a reasonable amount of veggies but I was drinking too much alcohol, smoking and eating too many processed foods. I have finally quit smoking, cut my drinking down to only a few a week, and I am now just getting into smoothies and fasting. I have exercised a fair bit most of my life. I look around at my siblings and friends, dead and dying, who never joined me in being a vegan, even mocked me, and am inspired to continue on my healthy path. Even though I originally started on this path for the animals, not me.
I am vegan chef and years ago landed in hospital emergency room with rectal bleeding. One cannot go on for years with consumption of unhealthy vegan food. My restaurant was a bakery and tea house, selling vegan bakes and lunches, which included sugar, oil and salt. No wonder I was unwell after eating regularly what I created.

Thank you for this video. I have been WFPB for a few years, but could not understand why my BP readings were high though I was not on medication. I was determined to lower my BP readings with my diet and exercise. After listening to the good doctor, I realized that it was taking salt, oil and sugar out of my diet. I have been doing this for two months now and have been having BP readings of 120/73 and stabilising around this figure. Now it has taken some adjusting, a life time of salt, oil and sugar will take some time. I eradicated all at the same time and it has done wonders with my BP. I also have been fasting for a few years now and eating within an 8 hour window. I believe I have found the Doctor’s advice spot on. Thank you for saving and changing my life. I will be 64 next birthday!!
My stay at True North Health Center was so helpful/inspiring/joyful...that I am returning in early 2023 for an extended stay! YAY! Life changing, indeed. Want. More! xoxo P

I always remember what Dr. Goldhammer said.....he said focus on habits....not on outcomes or goals! That slogan? keeps the focus on living just ," one day at a time" and makes the effort sustainable. Keep it up Dr. Goldhammer. Mr. Phillips - Canada - Retired
I love that this doctor is so honest with a wealth of knowledge and useful information no hidden agenda like "buy these products" "buy my book". Thank you so much. I will be 59 in 3mnths time and I am a happy, healthy vegan in great health of mind, body and spirit!🥰 Big cyber hugs everyone!
I came from standard American. And believe me, there's nothing worse then that.. I started keto then moved to carnivore. Aches and pains i've dealt with for years are gone since going keto/carnivore. That could be mainly from cutting out all the chemicals/sugar and processed crap. But I'm ready to go the next level of health, whatever/wherever it is. And this doctor Goldhammer guy Phisically demonstrates the level of health I want, with his good and high energy and mental precision. I will learn more about his protocol and give SOS a try. We must try different diets/fasting and see for ourselves, because it seems there's "proof" for the avocation of every diet on earth... Everyone is the CEO of there own health journey, and thank you for posting this video that points me to the next intriguing direction in my roadmap to unlimited health!🙏🤙
Indeed when someone goes from a standard American diet to any other diet they're going to notice some sort of physiological change. This is why listening to yourself can be very misleading and why people really can get messed up in that way. A good analogy is a smoker having withdrawals as if fresh air is bad for them. It's easy to fix the withdrawals with another hit. That's why science is the best and the overwhelming totality of evidence absolutely says plants are most protective and consuming animal is more of a risk factor. Sure if you reduce it down to just eating animal you may notice some seemingly beneficial results. But long-term efficacy toward optimum healthspan is what's ideal since chronic disease takes many years to develop. And the only diet I know that is ideal for optimum quality of life, health span and lifespan is a whole food plant-based vegan diet of legumes, grains, greens, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and a variety of each. And actualizing your utmost potential is more than just diet. But it just so happens to be that a vegan Whole Food plant is diet makes it easier to maximize your potential with all of the pillars of optimum health. Because this non-violent way of living is conducive to a healthy mind as well and is most sustainable and enables one to be be contiguous between their ideals and behaviors. Great job going in the right direction here. I'm confident that you'll find many others on my channel that are inspiring and many more to come.
Slapped me up side the head! lol. I need to hear someone that is on the straight and narrow, now and then to be brought back to reality. I love Dr. Goldhammer. He says it like it is with no ifs ands or buts. I love eating only whole plant foods, no sos, so back on track. Thank you Dr. Goldhammer. Thank you Vegan Linked.
Wonder what would happen to meat/fish sales if it were not "recolored" and correctly labeled "dead, decaying flesh"! I chuckle every time I hear him say that phrase! So wish I could do a stint at True North!
If he says *pleasure trap* one more time in going to explode with glee. The way he shoots from the hip is contagious😂🥦 We can't argue with fruits and vegetables, yet people continue to do so
Wow so interesting Dr Esser son lives where I live. I’ve been waching Chef Aj and have learned so much from her and you! I want to help parents learn how to feed children I was a NICU peds nurse my whole life
I'm releasing videos all year every week on the subject of raising children vegan. Parent's simply need to learn how to prepare a proper "variety" of legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and supplement based on their individualized needs. If they have difficulties acclimating to this way of eating then they ideally will consult a nutritionist, dietitian or physician that practices lifestyle medicine.
Would it be possible for you to turn these interviews into podcasts on Spotify? For me it'd be cool to be able to just listen to this while I'm at work.
I will try. I need to allocate the time. I'm a one man, run and gun doing all I can. Hopefully playing on here works too for now. More people have been asking me to do this so perhaps I'll just have to make the time to sooner than later
I'd like to "Join" but can't do auto-deduct. I'm 84, 49 years macrobiotic Vegan and clean and sober. This video helps me help others change to the best way: plant-based whole raw, whole steamed, intermittent fasting no SOS.
I love and respect him so much that would not try to argue about certain points of concern yet they do remain in my mind, like: -the effects of IF (longer that 14h) on the gallbladder stone formation; -the ease/ difficulty of expulsion of the small intestinal fecaliths on a strictly water-based fast without a substantially long period of vegetable/ fruit based diet and then a series of juice-feasting preceding the fast; -the ability of the average human organism to handle the sometimes tremendous toxicity of a bacterial die-off during fasting; - the benefits ( quite paradoxical from a logical standpoint) of carrying around trillions of bacteria ( incl. dopamine and nor/epinephrine-producing ones! ) in our healthy (?!) guts. And, as he is famous for his wonderful sense of humour- how about 'luck' being consistently used by both alternative/ non-alternative MDs as a health/longevity factor in a strictly scientific rationalization? Why not adopt the much more logically satisfying ancient explanation of karmic load / dharmic rewards? I definitely do but, then , you know me- I am a trip. :)
I went to TN for 15 days and did a 5 day fast. He asks us to start eating just fruit and vegetables two days before we fast. I started at home for two days then an additional 2 days of fruit and vegetables at TN before I started the fast, so I believe this helps begin the detoxing process before the fast begins. I was already eating fairly healthy so I did not have any detox symptoms. I lost a pound a day for a total of 7 lbs. I was losing a bit if weight too from just eating fruit and vegetables at the beginning. I did not go for weight loss as I was at my ideal weight but to get off the BP meds and I did. I also lost some belly fat which was nice to see. Day one of the fast I did have a BM (bowel movement) but did not have any more until two days after the fast ended as predicted by the staff. Re-feeding is strict and you have to adhere but each day you add more foods and the day you can add nuts seeds salad dressing and avocado is the re-feeding day I really enjoyed.
@@dinamariea61 Great to hear that! I believe your eating fairly healthy prior to the fast had much to do with the lack of detox symptoms. It would be really helpful if you could share some of your regular dietary tips.TY
Very informative interview. I have a question regarding vitamin D - I live in Seattle, where it's cloudy all the time. Can I still get some amount of vitamin D from being out in overcast skies, or it's only produced under direct contact with sunlight?
Vitamin D is tricky, unless you're out all the time at the right times and only for the limited time necessary while not getting cancer you may as well just supplement. Ideally we would be out intermittently exposed like in a food forest or jungle and gathering and working the plants throughout the morning and evening during infrared hours and in between get as much skin exposed to UVB during for very little, 10 minutes maybe for some people longer for others depending on their skin. Here's a chart that is cool that I happened to be looking at earlier today. www.grassrootshealth.net/blog/happens-body-exposed-full-spectrum-sunlight/ But, you also need to factor in the best time of day based on your latitude so do a google search for your location and best time to get vitamin D based on the time of year and day. But a supplement is probably best for most busy people working and indoors most of the time and in colder areas. Mushrooms can get vitamin D and certain lights. But, nothing beats sunlight in the early morning and a little mid day and in the evening. Too many variables to consider though for anyone like on the internet to just tell you want to do. Also look up Vitamin D on NutritionFacts.org and VeganHealth.org
The body produces all the cholesterol it needs. So no problem there. As for B12, well I just take it directly through a supplement instead of through the blood guts and gore of an animal that was artificially inseminated into existence and supplemented with B12. The majority of B12 goes to animal agriculture. So it's pretty simple and far more natural to just take it directly. 💚 Hope that helps! If you're worried about brain health then make sure you eat a well-planned variety of legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices and consider other lifestyle behaviors like exercise, sleep, stress Management, social support, not doing drugs, and so on. You may want to consider things like supplementing fatty acids through an Algae-Based supplement, since fish get it from algae you can get it from algae. It's questionable whether or not we need that and some people may be more susceptible to needing it. And if your genetically predisposed to cognitive issues later in life you might want to consider incorporating a quality source of oil. This is just my understanding of the literature through the very sophisticated people I follow. You may also enjoy following Dr nagra and doctor's Dean and Ayesha Sherzais, who are both neuroscientists and long-time vegans who even raise their children this way. Dr Dean Ornish is also doing some research on this finishing up a 5-year long study. Mic the Vegan is following the research pretty close and will be doing a video on that soon. You might want to follow him too! And having good cardio metabolic Health also helps with brain health. So we know plants covered that really well. Best wishes and thanks for being genuinely inquisitive!
"viral infection" ? all "disease" can be reduced to one single complex of stages in toxeamia (toxic blood). There is no such thing as "disease" from without as a product or entity. "Disease" is a process, built by the habits of the individual.
I switched back to vegan this year 5 months now meeting strength gains and muscle mass gains progressive overload is increasing weakly to I really got tired of the bodybuilding bro food i just felt sick to all the amount food I was eating before and the meat made me constant bloating
YT lets you watch videos at slower speeds if you want, so it's easier to catch everything! I have to do that sometimes to really take in the fast talkers.
Please ask the question more clearly. Are you asking if water fasting will help with an enlarged prostate? I can't answer this but maybe you can call TrueNorth if you're considering going there for this. I imagine it can help but it's not going to help if you go back to doing whatever caused the problem to begin with. @@anthonybridgeman4443
I work outside all day on no good ...been doing this for years unconsciously...over the years my meat portion is smaller and smaller .. I have a few other tricks to share! I don't agree with no oil ? I take organic extra virgin olive oil on the daily! And swear it keeps your joints lubercated. I do heavy strenuous in the sun all day! Also no salt ? I switched to himalian pink salt 6 years ago..the only thing that concerns me is where do you get iodine from? If anyone out there can explain this to me I'd be much grateful Also
I use dulse and kelp granules and hemp seeds for iodine. But it occurs in many other whole plant foods like potatoes esp with the skin, some grains, etc.
You can get the fatty acids in whole plant foods and in the correct proportions. I eat flax, walnuts, and sunflower seeds sometimes other nuts and seeds.
Think this post is maybe what you refer. Natural Hygiene was taught by Natives to USA medical people & those teachings remained the law of the land up until the late 1800's when big pharma began to take over making Natural Hygiene unjustly obsolete until early 1900's when Herbert M. Shelton re-founded the orthopaedic practice at his health sanatoriums & by the 1950's he ran for potus, but big oil land grabs & big pharma swindles had a monopoly by then, also it was further corrupted by the liquor industry that had spiraled out of control as a drug of choice ever since the 1930's. So it is way past time to make Natural Hygiene a part of our daily lives again, as the once sober apple cart was upset too many times over the years by oppressive governmental inebriated addicts who have been increasingly abusing a once sound medical practice here in America for far too long. Here is my take on needed improvements for those who have yet them or even considered changing these corrupt current laws yet. Back around the 70's reagan began shutting down state hospitals to save taxes for the rich resulting in an ever increasing spiral of homeless street people & overcrowded prisons. Reagan was inebriated on his bubbly. That points to another mess up that occurred back in the 30's when they made alcohol their drug of choice as legal recreation & criminalized other intoxicants. Past time for a resolution to both these gross errors. 1- make all drugs & alcohol legal medically with supervision. 2-drug & alcohol test all law enforcement, politicians, educators & gun owners at their own expense, never as illegal recreation in use currently. Until those insane obsolete laws, rules & regulations are changed with appropriate resolutions the errors of the past will continue to escalate.

whatever diet you do fasting is going to help. but longest lived large populations are always incorporating animal products; japan and hong kong for example. there is no equivalent plant based population that achieves this. i'll wait till there is more evidence before i remove the most bio-available nutrient dense foods from my diet.
Epidemiological studies look at large populations. There are no large populations where all of the constituents of that population eat the same thing. What we see are the more a population eats plants the more centenarians they have. The more a population eats animal the more they get chronic disease. So these epidemiological studies are only capable of so much which is why we have to look at the totality of evidence. That would include smaller population sizes, more rigorous studies, clinical observations, and meta analysis. Clearly people have no problem eating whole plant foods exclusively and living a healthy life just as well if not better than people who eat animals. This is why there are so many of them on my channel and so many more coming. All cultures have been violent historically the goal is to become less violent. And it's nice to increase health span and lifespan while we are at it. Of course while not being invasive and destructive to other life on the planet. The least violent have been the most plant based like Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain. It is not sustainable for us to continue eating animals. That is not without making it even more abusively horrific for the animals than it already is. Clearly it is not necessary so why would you continue doing it? Do you really depend on epidemiological studies that much? There are millions of vegans in the world. We are just spread out all over because everyone can be vegan so it encompasses every lifestyle, every race, every country.
@@MB10097 with respect only a cult member could disavow science of basic biology and claim plants (of any kind) are more bio-available that meat and other animal products. you can favour plant food of course and live well if you are careful but your belief doesn't entitle you to your own facts.
@@VeganLinked this is true for 'some' people; "Clearly people have no problem eating whole plant foods exclusively and living a healthy life". there is no large population that can even survive on plant only. you are asking for an experiment and also ignoring the fact the bulk of people that do veganism have come off it withing a number of years due to ill health caused by the diet itself. our bodies are demonstrably evolved to process animal foods primarily and optimally. it's why animal foods have the exact nutrients and in the exact quantities the human body needs to thrive. this isn't a coincidence. the argument about killing animals is semantic. argubaly the mono-cropping necessary to sustain a planet on plant food would will trillions and trillions of insects. millions and millions of small mammals and birds. in fact an average human could live on 1.5 cows per year and so only contribute to the death of one and a half animals. plant based diets have to acount for many more deaths than this. you aren't as ethical as you thought.
@@MB10097 not unusual with a high carb plus high fat diet to have issues. that's part of the problem of the modern diet, having rich foods in abundance. human biology is not designed for that. at all. happy plants only are working for you. hope still the same in 10 years. don't forget these gurus only show you the successes not the failures. it's their business and their belief system so they can't. it's still the case most vegan dieters have to quit after a number of years due to getting sick on the diet. and always accused of 'doing it wrong' . like with carbs, some bodies tolerate plant toxins like oxalates better than others especially if one does the other things like exercise right. good luck.
I'm seriously curious, do you really think that? I don't eat animals once and a while. The vegans I know wouldn't as far as I can tell they're as appalled by it as much as I am. After you go so long without eating animal body parts, organs, and secretions it's easy to see it for what it is. The thought of eating an animal is not different than the thought of eating a person to me now. I don't want to do either at all.
Says no one of any significance. how is it carnivores can't get their s*** together? Why isn't there a carnivore equivalent to TrueNorth or Hippocrates Wellness or Nutrition Facts or Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine or American College of Lifestyle Medicine or National Health Association? With all due respect, Dr G is almost there. Recommending a 16 hour fast just isn’t the best recommendation. The reason many do better initially is they’ve removed overt fats - the liver doesn’t have to produce a ton of bile; it can focus on detoxing the body. The down side is, the adrenals turn on as a source of energy and like dopamine, people are addicted to adrenaline. The issue is, this can put the body back in an inflamed state. What the Dr doesn’t know is, the body will continue to detox safely when overt fats are removed. In other words, eat fruit upon rise 15 min after having 16-32 oz of lemon water. The body will get glucose which it needs and the liver will continue detoxing. Source: number 1 author in nutrition @medicalmedium

He's one of my favourite people on the planet. Passionate, funny, smart. I am considering going to TNHC specifically to meet this great man.
Want. More! xoxo P

I love Dr. Goldhammer. I'm releasing videos all year every week on the subject of raising children vegan. Parent's simply need to learn how to prepare a proper "variety" of legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and supplement based on their individualized needs. If they have difficulties acclimating to this way of eating then they ideally will consult a nutritionist, dietitian or physician that practices lifestyle medicine.

doc does not look 63!!!! i became vegan at 52…wish I saw the light at 16 like he did!!
I love and respect him so much that would not try to argue about certain points of concern yet they do remain in my mind, like:
-the effects of IF (longer that 14h) on the gallbladder stone formation;
-the ease/ difficulty of expulsion of the small intestinal fecaliths on a strictly water-based fast without a substantially long period of vegetable/ fruit based diet and then a series of juice-feasting preceding the fast;
-the ability of the average human organism to handle the sometimes tremendous toxicity of a bacterial die-off during fasting;
- the benefits ( quite paradoxical from a logical standpoint) of carrying around trillions of bacteria ( incl. dopamine and nor/epinephrine-producing ones! ) in our healthy (?!) guts.
I can try to ask some of these the next time I see him or someone like him. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@VeganLinked Thank you!
@@dinamariea61 awesome, I need to do this

@Vegan Linked Thanks for your reply, and the links!
I am vegetarian and want to go vegan but questions about cholesterol for brain and b12

What water fasting does to enlarge prostate

I work outside all day on no good ...been doing this for years unconsciously...over the years my meat portion is smaller and smaller ..
I have a few other tricks to share!
I don't agree with no oil ?
I take organic extra virgin olive oil on the daily! And swear it keeps your joints lubercated.
I do heavy strenuous in the sun all day!
Also no salt ? I switched to himalian pink salt 6 years ago..the only thing that concerns me is where do you get iodine from?
If anyone out there can explain this to me I'd be much grateful
Also
I use dulse and kelp granules and hemp seeds for iodine. But it occurs in many other whole plant foods like potatoes esp with the skin, some grains, etc.
You can get the fatty acids in whole plant foods and in the correct proportions. I eat flax, walnuts, and sunflower seeds sometimes other nuts and seeds.
Working outside can be extremely good for ya

@@MB10097 thanks, that means a lot!!! ❤
@@MB10097 not unusual with a high carb plus high fat diet to have issues. that's part of the problem of the modern diet, having rich foods in abundance. human biology is not designed for that. at all.
happy plants only are working for you. hope still the same in 10 years. don't forget these gurus only show you the successes not the failures. it's their business and their belief system so they can't.
it's still the case most vegan dieters have to quit after a number of years due to getting sick on the diet. and always accused of 'doing it wrong' .
like with carbs, some bodies tolerate plant toxins like oxalates better than others especially if one does the other things like exercise right.
good luck.
not possible. as humans we must eat animal products. he must be classical vegan where u still eat fish and meat every once in a while
I'm seriously curious, do you really think that? I don't eat animals once and a while. The vegans I know wouldn't as far as I can tell they're as appalled by it as much as I am. After you go so long without eating animal body parts, organs, and secretions it's easy to see it for what it is. The thought of eating an animal is not different than the thought of eating a person to me now. I don't want to do either at all.
"Not possible"...
