Amazing! I had taken off to see family, and forgot to get gas on the way home. The fuel light came on. I never take the take that low. I pulled into a gas station on fumes. I couldn't get the gas door open. After pushing on the lever for about 30 minutes, believing it was just caught on something, I looked to RUclips for help. I looked at other videos before this one. They were great! Lots of ingenuity but I didn't have any tools let alone hose clamps (see other videos). "Elcaminos you came to the rescue!" Thank you! From watching the other videos, I figured the trunk and the fuel door were connected; using the same cable. I NEVER considered going to the trunk latch and give the cable a tug from there. Great trick! Thank you!!
I just replaced the actual gas/trunk release cable. My gas cap now releases from the front but can't figure out how to create the tension for the trunk where he tied to rope on to. Also the plastic part that pushes the trunk open broke which doesn't help. You can get the cable at your Honda dealer. (2008 Honda Civic Coupe DX-G)
Shit I should look for that , I force the little gas door to open and I broke the lock of the gas door now i dont know if that thing is fixable or if there is a part to change it ..
No I couldn't get it to work :( I took it to the shop and I could either replace the entire set up for about 500 or they could wire a new make shift lever for me to open the lid from inside of my trunk. i chose the latter. my lever is still broken but i saved 400 lol
