In pve, black flame only build is actually legit. Max cast speed ritual is great for getting space to heal since it deals hitstun/massive damage. Shame u get it so late into the game tho lol. Noble presence i suspect is fromsoftwares version of o flame for black flame I suspect...
Black flame will become a direct upgrade to flame then :( There are some nice variant to flame and having a black flame variant may just make it that no one will use the flames anymore

Even more props to using a fire damage weapon at academy gate. For those who are somehow still not aware, just it raining increases fire damage negation by 20%, and it almost always rains there. It does also decrease lightning damage negation by 20%.

The values get reduced because of armor values you wear. It does not turn a 30% with armor into 50%, and vice versa. Basically math and check again. Because I already have.
I honestly love the WA on this weapon so much cause of it's versatility. If you miss the initial charge you can roll and it will cancel the whole thing, preventing your MP from being eaten. The potential delay from the 2nd and 3rd swing is so incredibly long you can usually trick the opponent into think it's over then BAM mega damage. Combined with it's quick regular attack, I just love this thing overall.
It wasn't a true combo though. What makes something a TRUE combo is the ability to "juggle" or string together moves that weren't intended to do so in a fashion that someone doesn't have the ability to do something about it. Every single person had the chance to do something after he cast catch flame. They panicked and misplayed because of it therefore, not a true combo.

Yes, it does contain a true combo into a weapon art roll catch. "This weapon art is pretty interesting. Try pairing it with the lance and a greatshield of your choice, my preference of course is fingerprint shield. It's great if you activate it right before an enemy rushes in to attack. Edit: careful though it can be parried with relative ease once they've got your number. I like to hold it back for the killing blow. It can be very unexpected with how quick it can come out when they're panicking at low health. :)
Honestly, I've never considered godslayer greatsword wa to be that hard to hit. It's wide range and potential damage can cause people to play super passive though.
Godslayer's is such a great weapon. On my first playthrough, I initially sneezed at it, thinking it didn't seem all that good. But on my second playthrough, I gave it a try, and it was shockingly strong.
Catch flame seems to be a potent setup tool. Comes out quick, reliable stun. Good stuff dude I'm glad you're out here showing all the weapon/build potential there is out there.
The great thing about this weapon is that you can use the Black Flame incantation as well. While charging it, throw it right at your feet if your opponent decides to roll forwards into it, and then use the ash of war. The start up swing is a guaranteed hit, and the follow up swing will land if the person starts panicking. You dont even need an incantation to land the AoW either. Because the first initial swing is so quick and unexpected, you might be surprised to see how many times you can land it on people. I love this weapon!!!
What about a way to land the Eruption AOW? Is is one of the most damaging AOW in the game with heavy weapons and has decently high hyperarmor, but it is very slow. I think the AOW true combos into itself if it hits.
I use eruption on a knights greatsword with fire art affinity and 80 faith. I know some don’t prefer this but I’ve landed it pretty consistently just by forcing a trade I know I can poise through. I’ve easily removed 70% of a hosts HP with eruption.
And the craziest part was that the Godslayer GS's AoW used to be way slower on release. Not sure how anyone was supposed to hit anything with its original swing speed.
Come up with a guaranteed way of landing the madness grab. No physick. Of course the oneshot version, two hand your talisman in your left hand and have an upgraded slash/pierce weapon in main hand, misericorde is best. Hint: perhaps tricking the enemy into doing a certain animation or animations that has a startup animation that cant be rolled out of..... In invasions. Its something I've been doing for fun lately tbh
Madness grab still scales with criticals, do it as I described I actually have proof of me doing it actually against a turtle with the fingerprint shield, like the most recent video on my channel of me using the parry dagger, tho it's like a short clip somewhere in that vid but its present update gameplay
Haven't done any testing but I have a few set up ideas that might lead into a grab: -WA- Dagger Parry Storm Stomp (also with high enough poise grab can armor through this) Gravitas (probably not but would be cool) Quickstep (react to roll) -Other- Volcano/Sleep pots (roped volcano if they're chasing you then immediately go for the grab/volcano at YOUR feet if not roped) On knock down you can grab/backstab their head (If you hit them out of a breath weapon for example) Only unique interactions with it that come to mind are being able to grab waterfowl dance, its pretty great though lol. Most likely can catch other WAs similarly. Probably not what you're looking for exactly but I hope this helps
I got the game on release, got every weapon I saw as worth getting, played through the game 7 times, platinumed it, and out of all of the weapons in the game this swords WA is the most satisfying to pull off and honestly it makes ya feel like a badass, this was beautiful, my favourite weapon in the game personally
And the super armor. Most people I fought with this thing try to knock me out of the AoW only to eat an attack that takes their entire health bar. I know there are more practical one-shot builds, but hitting someone with Godslayer's AoW definitely feels more impactful than something like Double Seppuku twinblade jump-attack.

As a pyromancer, I can attest. Love this weapon. If you have decent enough poise or damage negation, then you can make the AoW a nightmarish trade tool (which is much flashier than the usual CGS poke tactic). You don't even need Bullgoats. I ran with a full set of Blackflame Monk armor (because fashion) and could tank hits from anything non-colossal without being knocked out of the animation.
Fun fact .. dunno if you did it But you can trigger the third swing a little late If you spam the heavy stack right after the second swing it does a final third swing (probably you already knew) But you can also take a 0.5 second delay to trigger it Don’t take to long or you won’t br able to do the weapon art third swing It will just do the weapon heavy attack instead I manage to fool some players into thinking I miss my second swing but I did the third swing instead

I actually use it for pvp and it is an easy cure for jump attacks if correctly timed also follow up attack is good too

Try landing blood tax. I’ve been using it and it’s a bit difficult to land
Thats a weird one because its a flurry so they will likely roll out unless they get stunned while getting hit

Black Flame tornado is hard to land but super satisfying to land. It's also great to use against greedy opponents.

This is hard to land? I usually trade when my Dragonbolt buff is on. Makes smaller weapons tink off you. Very fun to use on the usual duel seppuku.

My experience using this weapon is that people are stupid enough that they’ll simply run directly into it and die.
Catch Flame combos are the best.
Weapon is actually crazy imo. At ~lvl 100 I was doing 4k damage with the full combo BEFORE the burn damage against bosses with like 50 faith
