I'm pretty sure that it's anaphylaxis, just like there are people who die to bee or wasp stings. Now I would also have a question as to which species is more likely to come in contact with humans and therefore increase the chances of a bite occuring. Some of the snakes with the highest body counts are indeed very toxic but they are also the ones that like to live close to humans (also the ability for local EMS to treat the bite). Lots of factors, but the Boomslang still takes the Cake if we are talking toxicity in a rear fang snake.
Fantastic as always Clint. I'd heard of the Mangrove snake before but I wouldn't have been able to tell you anything about it or even what it looked like. Stunning colouration, but with all the issues you mentioned, definitely just one for the advanced keeper.
I LOVED mangrove snakes for yeeearrrrss (still do). Last year, I got the opportunity to work with a young adult WC individual, he was roughly 6ft long. He was absolutely amazing. He was a little nervous, but very quickly got to the point where he would be totally comfortable with my wrapping him around my arm or neck and shoulder while I went about work as usual at the pet store he was at. Longest record was 3 hours, no signs of stress, but a large group of people came in and I didn't want him to tag someone (or me for that matter). When he was ready to go back into the enclosure, he'd just get huffy and puffy, and if I didn't listen or put him back in time he'd false strike at me with the most minimal effort he could. He was honestly a joy of a snake to work with, and I was very close to bringing him home, but unfortunately there was a power outage overnight during late Fall, and nobody knew until the next morning. He ended up slowly crashing afterwards, and passed before I could buy him and bring him to a vet. I do fully intend to own one eventually though. I'm hoping I can get USCBBs of the sumatran, luzon, and sulawesi localities (:
I had friends who use to keep them( might even still have them haven't heard from them since I moved), they really aren't that bad as you would think, way better then most monitors
It would be really cool if you made a video about daygeckos. You always have insight about reptiles that no other book/video has. You also have the brightest personality i have seen in a youtuber.
Hey Clint long time follower here! It's great to see you so close to 100k!! Congrats! I was just wondering though if we could get a 'best display pet?' series? Kind of like a beautiful fish tank. I'm trying to decide what to get as a centre piece animal in it's own scaped tank but I can't decide between dart frogs, tree frogs, day geckos and snakes like the GTP!

Clint, buddy, a mangrove snake? Of course they are awesome animals but what are you doing with one on your channel? We are still waiting for Burms, Retics. Major points for the exotic nature, but I’m not gonna stop bothering you about the Retic versus Burm comparison video so let’s make it happen, Cap’n!
Awesome video as always, these were just featured on Chandlers Wildlife yesterday too. Would love to see you do a video on rainbow boas. I have a baby rainbow and there isn’t a lot of videos on them.
Hey Clint I'm a relatively new subscriber and I want to thank you for the time you put into these videos they are incredible and I love your enthusiasm and love for reptiles do you maybe have a plan to do a video on fat tailed geckos? I used to own one when I was younger and I thought they seemed like good pets even for a begginer like myself
Clint you mentioned the boomslang and I was curious if you ever heard of the Twig snakes and stiletto snakes both are Rear fanged colubrids from Africa and they pack a more powerful punch than the Boiga snakes.
Mere seconds before you said it the thought occurred to me that a jungle carpet python would be a better alternative. I looked into mangroves briefly before a jungle came available in my area. Since I already have a carpet python and love the species, I picked up the jungle too -- just last week, in fact. I posted a video on IG (@noz4nuziest) to show how well she handles. Thanks again, Clint, for the honest assessment of lesser know or kept reptiles.
And make a video on owning licenses for pet reptiles and amphibians (I support the idea of owning licenses for exotic pets, because completely banning them in a country will just increase the number of illegal trades AND complaints from angry people who had done their research and are capable of owning a reptile/amphibian/bird/farm animal/hedgehog/predatory fish/invertebrate as a pet).
I don't know about you guys, but it's snake season where I'm at! And in the spirit of things I'd love to see some episodes dedicated to some native species. Both as potential pets and some in the wild advice
I had no clue hognose snakes were venomous at all. I hadn't ever heard it, and interestingly enough, my state's DNR website had them listed as nonvenomous. But sure enough, they're mildly venomous, although not medically significant and not likely to bite. Even so, I find it odd that they aren't listed among the venomous species.
@@khoalam4127 They are commonly kept in the hobbie although it's hard to get them outside of a expo or online the reason I asked is because I am friends with a breeder and debating getting a couple.
Hey Clint, will you be doing one of these videos for walse water cobras at some point? I've loved learning about them but I appreciate your videos for not shying away from the negatives
Che would dry the enclosure out. Id go heat panel above and heat tape underneath. With a mister and some cool climbing opportunities a sky hide and some good ground cover
Had one of these when i was in high school. It wasn't aggressive at all, it was very docile; had burmese pythons that were more aggressive. It would only eat finches and as i found out the hard way other snakes. Having been bitten due to mistaken identity -totally my fault, my symptoms were nausea and dry heaaving. The next day my finger swelled up not unlike a bee sting.
:O oh goodness. So pretty ❤ I think I finally found the snake I want to own. I want a large tree decorated encloser and a snake that would eat fish, insects, or lizards! I can't do the mice 🤢 They freak me out, and the set up I have in mind would allow me to clean the base of the encloser and change the water without taking them out of there habitat so they would only need to be takin out for veterinary appointments. I was originally thinking of getting a boa, but but this snake just fits me more! Im gonna start looking into mangrove care and if all goes smoothly I may just have a my first snake! (Im not a newbie in pet care, I understand this is for more experienced snake owners, don't be worry Im thinking this may happen in about a year, I have been following proper snake care for a long time and have cared for a few snakes in the past with no issues, this would simply be my first kept snake. Ive always loved snakes from a young age, Reading back what I typed, I kinda realized I made myself sound like this would be my first snake experience rather than my first pet snake, which would be an aweful idea XD
If it weren't for the mile long list of downsides to owning a Mangrove snake I would love to have one. They're absolutely beautiful. But the fact that they're one of the more venomous rear-fanged snakes and so aggressive definitely puts them near the top of my no way in heck list.
I've seen and handled 2 of these. They weren't aggresive, but they we're very active. The aggresion part probably comes more from the character of an individual snake. They'd make for a good "look and don't touch" snake though.
have you guys ever come across people keeping a Natrix species? i would love to have one of our (UK/ Natrix Natrix) grass snakes but our laws make it difficult to keep native species without extensive breeding documentation, and in most cases the initial breeding would be illegal. so i would probably never be able to get one, but they are beautiful snakes and i find them really fascinating. i have read that caring for them would be really hard though so i am just curious if they ever crop up. some of the variations appear of here like Natrix Tessellata but its rare. by the way, a big thank you from me. thanks to you guys and snake discovery i got the bug, did loads of research and got the confidence to get my first snake. i pick it up tomorrow!

I love the mangrove snake! Please do a video on African bullfrogs and cane toads!
A strikingly beautiful snake! Not one I would keep, but a beauty nonetheless.
Wish you would do one on Trimorphodon and on the Musurana Cloelia coeliac aka El Guardo Camino
Another good video
( best channel ever )
Thank you so much. What's your favorite video to date?
@@ClintsReptiles i liked the leopard gecko
Nice, one of our early videos.
@@ClintsReptiles now i own a leopard gecko and bearded dragon
I’ve been waiting so long for someone to make this video
2 things. 1 can you do a full video on false water cobra? and do you go herping or do you just like keeping them as pets?
Clint you and your team are awesome! I’m a big fan you all keep up the good work!
(Hopefully) Next time in clints reptiles. Gilamonster, the best pet lizard?
I would love that! Yes!
Cool animal, but terrible "pet" lizard.
At this rate, we'll end up with "sea krait, the best pet snake?"
I had friends who use to keep them( might even still have them haven't heard from them since I moved), they really aren't that bad as you would think, way better then most monitors
@@that_reptile_guy_blake1822 are they aggressive? I'd have one by now if they weren't illegal and cost $1,000
Just in love with Mangrove snakes!
I've handled 2 wild mangrove snakes before, and all I can say is that both of them were calmer than my corn snake
Everytime it shows it's face, I see the eyes and a quote comes to mind. "Black eyes like a doll's eyes."
Ulquiorra4163 Love that movie
I got so excited when I remembered it was Wednesday and there would be a new Clint video when I got out of work 😁
It would be really cool if you made a video about daygeckos. You always have insight about reptiles that no other book/video has. You also have the brightest personality i have seen in a youtuber.
Thank you so much. Yes, we will cover them soon. Thank you for the kind feedback and the great suggestion.
Hey Clint long time follower here! It's great to see you so close to 100k!! Congrats! I was just wondering though if we could get a 'best display pet?' series? Some of these animals are amazing but there are some of us that love to set up beautifully scaped biotopes with automated rain systems/mist systems and live plants so we can enjoy them as a slice of nature in our home! Kind of like a beautiful fish tank. I'm trying to decide what to get as a centre piece animal in it's own scaped tank but I can't decide between dart frogs, tree frogs, day geckos and snakes like the GTP!
Great suggestion. I just added that video to my list this morning.
@@ClintsReptiles :O You replied!! Thank you so much for taking the suggestion! Hope you have a great day and can't wait to see you hit 100k subs very soon!!
Is there anyway you can make a care video on macklots pythons? I’ve been looking around RUclips and I can’t seem to find s good care video on them and think they’re one of the coolest looking reptiles
Mangrove snakes are gorgeous. My zoo just redid their reptile house and the got a mangrove and it's my favorite to observe.
Maybe after I have a TON more experience these are such a beautiful snake. I saw one for the first time recently and fell in love. Hopefully someday XD
I really wish you would do a video of your reptile enclosures/reptile room!!! Love the videos and you’re great!
I remember seeing these in national geographic magazine as a kid. Beautiful, but I'd never want to keep (or unexpectedly encounter) one.
I love mangrove snakes!!! I love that your doing a video on them!!!!😍👍
They're too amazing to ignore.
@@ClintsReptiles I know there not for beginners and I don't have one personally myself but I have always thought they were so beautiful and I have alot of respect and love for the animal in general not exactly as the best pet though just to clarify.
Filming it tomorrow.
Clint's Reptiles 🥳 Yay! You’re the best, man!
My brothers getting a False water cobra,Me and friend and my brother are all saving up money. Im super excited to get it by next summer
Nice. Contact Kyle Wilson. Tell him I sent you.
Clint's Reptiles I found his care sheet for falsies, but does he breed babies as well?
"Oh pretty"
"Venomous with enough venom to cause a significant reaction"
"Keeps it in a glass box and doesn't touch it"
It's a no for me, Clint. haha.
Awesome video as always, these were just featured on Chandlers Wildlife yesterday too.
Would love to see you do a video on rainbow boas. I have a baby rainbow and there isn’t a lot of videos on them.
It tried to bite Chandler. So yeah, grumpy
"These guys...are awesome" *Clint looks at the snake wearily body not even touching the glass of the container*
I have a suggestion
Can you do a video about impulse buying animals?
And make a video on owning licenses for pet reptiles and amphibians (I support the idea of owning licenses for exotic pets, because completely banning them in a country will just increase the number of illegal trades AND complaints from angry people who had done their research and are capable of owning a reptile/amphibian/bird/farm animal/hedgehog/predatory fish/invertebrate as a pet).
When he said, “This tank is huge” I thought he meant the 5 or 10 gallon, and I was like, are you sure😂
Yes I'll been waiting on this one..
Ill continue to make more content about them too if you would like to subscribe.
You should do the Day gecko! Great video as always
Thank you. We will soon.
I don't know about you guys, but it's snake season where I'm at! And in the spirit of things I'd love to see some episodes dedicated to some native species. Both as potential pets and some in the wild advice
Also, please keep doing what you do. It's wonderful.
Hey can you do Brazilian Rainbow Boas!?
yesssss!!
The vid is great! I would really like to see your take on mourning geckos and or dart frogs. Keep up the good work!
Plan on it :)
Clint's Reptiles your pfp and your name make me uncomfortable
Are mourning geckos even kept as pets? I've only ever seen them in research labs cuz of how they reproduce
@@khoalam4127 They are commonly kept in the hobbie although it's hard to get them outside of a expo or online the reason I asked is because I am friends with a breeder and debating getting a couple.
Good vid clintnas always of course keep up the good work
Thank you so much!
Hey Clint, will you be doing one of these videos for walse water cobras at some point? I've loved learning about them but I appreciate your videos for not shying away from the negatives
I will for sure. Thank you so much for the awesome and encouraging feedback about our videos.
you mentioned boomslangs. Those things are scary as heck. I live in South-Africa and saw one in the wild once and it was looooooong.
Che would dry the enclosure out. Id go heat panel above and heat tape underneath. With a mister and some cool climbing opportunities a sky hide and some good ground cover
This is still one of my dream snakes!
I can see that. Go CBB when the time comes.
Love these videos
Your so Brutally honest
[been subbed since your first video]
no you haven’t bruh go take a nap or sum
@@i4ott760 bro what, their first few videos blew up I wasn't lying lmao idk why I tried to flex it though
What kind/brand of mulch is in that tank? Looks much nicer than the zoo med stuff I got. Really looking for a brand that has larger/less sharp pieces.
Ironically its the zoo med brand of cypress mulch
@@TheReptileProject lol of course it is. Guess I just got a crap bag
Can you do a rosy boa video. I would like to know about them because there aren’t many videos about them.
I love this
I’m so happy you did this
Thank you Clint
Btw I’m trying to get a ball python or a gray banded king
Kay okay that’s awesome. Good luck with all the research! 😁👍
Kay okay why not look into vine snakes instead?
If it weren't for the mile long list of downsides to owning a Mangrove snake I would love to have one. They're absolutely beautiful. But the fact that they're one of the more venomous rear-fanged snakes and so aggressive definitely puts them near the top of my no way in heck list.
I've seen and handled 2 of these. They weren't aggresive, but they we're very active. The aggresion part probably comes more from the character of an individual snake. They'd make for a good "look and don't touch" snake though.
After the recent viper, cobra and rattlesnake videos this snake actually seems like a pretty reasonable pet
have you guys ever come across people keeping a Natrix species? i would love to have one of our (UK/ Natrix Natrix) grass snakes but our laws make it difficult to keep native species without extensive breeding documentation, and in most cases the initial breeding would be illegal. so i would probably never be able to get one, but they are beautiful snakes and i find them really fascinating. i have read that caring for them would be really hard though so i am just curious if they ever crop up. some of the variations appear of here like Natrix Tessellata but its rare.
by the way, a big thank you from me. thanks to you guys and snake discovery i got the bug, did loads of research and got the confidence to get my first snake. i pick it up tomorrow!
I'll have to look into it.
