  • On my sim racing journey I have decided to put together this step by step assembly instructions tutorial on how to set up my Sim Lab P1X sim rig featuring a Track Racer seat mount, Sparco bucket seat and Fanatec DD2 mount. This should also help those trying to put together their own aluminium profile rig too not just Simlab.

Glad I'm not the only one that fitted a Pedal slider as an add on to my rig. Surprised it's not more common what with the wheel mount been the fixed point on a rig usually. I need my rig to adjust for me and my 13yr old kids hence the seat and pedal slide needed. Like your seat, probably a future upgrade for me to a proper bucket seat rather than the gaming seat style that GT Omega supply (it's comfy but not very supportive and the base is flat with no recline, only the seat back can be adjusted) mainly so I can get a better recline position for F1 games.

Sim Labs were out when I ordered mine, but Microcenters in the US are partners and they had some in stock. So mine is on its way!

I completely agree. It's also been great to experiment with different pedal positions to find the sweet spot. I know I would not have done it without the slider mounted. For smaller people the slider is ideal, again I agree. Once I made the switch from the GT Omega seat, hinged and had flex, to the solid bucket I found I was much more consistent with my braking. Makes the whole experience a lot better. I think GT Omega have also released their own bucket. Although I have not had the chance to see it in person yet.

Great video! Thanks for making it. Just got the P1X and has been a bit painful to get it set up. But your video definitely helped!

Awesome build video mate. I wish i had it before i built my P1-X rig. Would have saved me a ton of work.
I can relate to the one person ordeal. I had to balance the wheel mount on one knee to get it onto the uprights. It was hell 😂
One tip: don't tighten the rig's feet too tight because you need to be able to easily adjust them to level the rig in the end.
    Anyhow, thanks for the insight.

Thanks a lot buddy. Hopefully it helps someone out on their journey. A lot of stuff was learnt along the way here 😅 I feel your pain. Wheel mount on to the uprights solo was a painful, painful experience😂
If its a flat floor you should be okay I think, I've got laminate, so I was okay and my measurements didn't need adjustment. But good point👍🏻 If you are on uneven ground then adjustments will need to be done. The feet are pretty awesome with their level of adjustability.

Watching this in my P1-X, also with a DD2 in front of me, this gave me flashbacks of installing the seat slider. That was a massive pain in the backside! Installing the wheel base only after the mounts on either side was much easier though, as you said.
On thing I thought was interesting about your build is the TR seat brackets. They seem to be bit higher than the simlab ones. With the latter in a middling position my DD2 already sits at the very top of the wheel base mount (I'm 190 cm). If I sat any higher I feel I couldn't get the wheel base high enough.
Anyway, looking forward to the coming video(s), especially bass your bass shaker setup. I tried putting some DA BST-1 directly on the aluminium profile, but the rig does not really want to vibrate it seems, it felt very muted. Thinking about attaching them to the seat now.

Thank you for the nice comment mate!
Glad I was able to bring back some of that stress to your build 😂 Seat slider was probably my most unenjoyable bit. Caused so much stress 😅
Was kicking myself after with the wheel base, but it was late and nothing was going to stop me.
That is the exact reason why I got the Trak Racer bracket, they were recommended by a friend. Gives you that extra little bit of adjustability. I think for your situation they might be worth a go.
Thanks for joining the journey and the sub I really appreciate it. I have some nice videos on bass shakers that should be very applicable to you. They are all shot and just need the finishing touches in editing and they should be out 👍🏻

Great video! Especially mounting the seat was something I hadn't seen before, very helpful!
I'm currently considering getting the P1-X Pro and want the best of both worlds, i.e. the height from the feet and the flexibility of casters.
So it should be possible to just ditch the "ball end" M16 that come with the feet and use a pure M16, and then use an M16 to M16 adapter to screw the feet on the bottom, right?

Thanks again buddy! Glad you got something out of the video!
You can put whatever feet you like on either model. You just have to source them. I have no experience with the P1-X pro but it doesn't look as easy to modify as the standard P1-X. Something to bear in mind.
I don't understand your last question sorry. I would fix the casters exactly as I have. I wouldn't start creating a point of weakness in one of the parts that needs to be as firm as possible.
      Hope that helps.

remember myself struggling with DD1 install although I put sides up first, it wasn't easy. Do you remember what two 40x40 200mm profiles are for?found them in my box, scratching head now. maybe it's for gearshifter mount and I don't have to buy a dedicated shifter mount plate? thank you

Getting the DD2 on was a world of pain 🥲 If I didn't use them in the video they weren't needed. It has been a while since the build. I think I ended up using them to mod a keyboard tray.

They are detailed at the start mate 0:22 👍🏻 They are also used throughout the video. Any generic versions of these will do you.
