Was Dave married at this time?
@@Masssshysteria Not yet. If I remember correctly after reading Daves biography he didnt get married until the 90s.

Thanks man!
Lol loved that Mechanix tease at (my last word) intro
I loved to many to Deth!!!
What a set list
Poland high as a kite still playing better than I'd be able to in a million years of practicing these licks. Unbelievable.

@@mikeauxbig heroin stupid☠️
@@NubsWithGuns Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up. I definitely believe you over hours of interviews with Mustaine and Poland himself describing how badly addicted to heroin Gar and Chris were at this time. And even if they really were heroin junkies, I'm sure they were careful to sober up before playing every night. Great insight.
@@morbidangel47 I remember that Dave said in his book (or in the interview) that gigs were amazing when they were under heroin, if they were not - the gigs were awful. hah!
@@NubsWithGuns completely incorrect. its called practice it till you can do it under any circumstance. Ive played blackout on multiple substances many times
Mustaine have reached what he always wanted. Far better and aggressive music than Metallica ever was. That's the fuckin' point!
@Dave Scott Mustaine HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT DAMN PASTORBATOR? YA KNOW ELLEFSON! HE'S PLAYIN' WITH CHRIS POLAND RIGHT NOW IN NOVEMBER OF 2022
Lars: he left the fookin band man
ehhh that's up for debate. I wouldn't say more aggressive because metallica really hammered home the riffs like nobody else. Megadeth always had better solos.
Metallica é muito mais pesado que o Megadeth, e muito mais agressivo também. Megadeth foi Thrash Metal Agressivo apenas no killing is my business, e o Metallica supera todos os riffs desse álbum. Só o Master Of Puppets, já é suficiente para atropelar os riffs “agressivos” do Megadeth.
@@arthurcardoso7899evidently you haven't heard the 2 bands in their whole career only aggressive stuff Metallica did was the first 3 albums. And hate to tell you this Megadeth was much more aggressive in their first 3 albums
Dave what a fuking monster on guitar
uhh poland??? holy shit man the motherfucker an play!
Could not have said it better
R.I.P. Gar Samuelsson !! :-(
Shane Cochran it May have been 3 years since you’ve written your comment but damn you sure have my heart mister
Chris Poland rules!
damn, this is pretty good by 1986 technology standards.
***** Of course, it's megadeth.
*****
yea, and that INCLUDES Megadeth!
*****
I love Megadeth, but....... you look at live footage from the 80's vs the 90's to now - they (just like every other band) lost that total abandon / "fuck all !" attitude..... also, those first 3 albums are great at capturing that attitude....after that, they became "professionals".....
+hazor777 Cierto, pero la actitud de Megadeth ha cambiado menos que la actitud de otras bandas....
+hazor777 I know what you mean man... That's what usually happens to most bands, even metal. I'd say the only band that still captures that attitude is Overkill. However, Megadeth will always be my fav band when it comes to the heavy aggressive shit.
I was at this show.. Was only like 60 or 70 people there.. Was a great show.. Never knew it was recorded... Awesome..
Is this Harpo's, Blondies ? Curious what venue in Detroit?
@@epasternak4206 it was the Token Lounge
My man, how I wish I could go back and see these guys during their first couple of tours. IMO, Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson gave Megadeth a unique sound on those first two albums that is impossible to duplicate.
You lucky sob
how was the weed back then ?
I'm 53 years old. I got to see Megadeth in Denver as a opening act for King Diamond! Wow! What a show, a mushroom fueled mosh pit!
i have so much trouble playing my last words. i cant even imagine worrying about singing and playing it... hate him or not, mustaine is a musical genius.
Now imagine that...but on drugs
My Last words isn't really that hard. The hardest part is the very last few seconds of the clean guitar part, and the solo. Everything else is really easy
@@bandolierboy1908 Everything is easy except for the parts that aren't.
J/K I know what you mean
@@bandolierboy1908 i find the last riff quite hard to play, but then again i suck pretty hard at picking triplets at that bpm
My last words is actually easy by megadeath standards. Still a killer tune though
46:54 Poland is tripping balls
speedball*
Cocaine wasn't enough for good old megadeth so they decided to mix up cocaine and heroin! What fun right?
Yup. Autopilot.
I guess they found their heroin that night....holy crap, he looks like, "wow that hit I did before showtime is really kicking in..."
Poland is fazed out and daves like fuck it lets party!!!
Heroin kicked in
best line up in my humble opinion just raw thrash
bacfo69 Poland is good but a piece of shit, gar is super good but mezda is more memorable
Fmc 2465 agreed
I agree 100%. Marty and Nick were really fantastic, and they made some great music together, but Chris and Gar were in another level!!! Their skill, but most of all the way they fused Speed/Thrash Metal with Jazz... This thing only puts them in the first place! Great performance, and they were so fkn wasted...
HOLY SHIT!!! Megadeth in the 80s was an absolute FORCE!!! Never seen anything like it! When this band was on they just crushed everyone! Performance enhancing substances aside, this concert is absolutely astonishing!
Gar's drumming on My Last Word's is stupendous
Old comment but if anything they werent enhanced at all. They were shooting heroin, which makes your brain and body move slower. So they were really fucking going hard performance wise. Almost unbelievable.
This was a real Megadeth concert, what a setlist!
Dave has a ton of volume in his hair.
Omari Thompson must have used a ton of hairspray
He turned his hair up to eleven
I'm jealous

Dave and jr. were still only snortin at this stage while Poland and Gar were shootin... jus sayin. This is an epic chapter in the history of speed metal... unsurpassed.
+Marstrand R. truth. Dave and jr did WAY less than chris n gar at that time.
Everybody did alot back them
@@theCheswickStick and Dave still did too much too be in Metallica hahaha. Love megadeth TO DETH \M/
How does heroin and speed metal even go hand and hand
"Speed" Metal
Poland is AMAZING!!!
Yes. And in Ohm as well. There has never been a better Megadeth linerup.
sdkee I totally agree. Hands down the best Megadeth lineup. Not contest. With all due respect to Nick Menza and Marty Friedman, who were pretty damn good in their own right, the musical chemistry of this lineup was awesome. Rust in Peace was a really good album, but it can't touch Peace Sells in my book.
Didn't realise till recently Mustaine wanted Poland back for rust in piece but it didn't work out, but Poland did the solos for holy wars demo, check
Mustaine's is such an incredible rhythm player. To able to sing and play like that is mindboggaling. Especially during the "Conjuring"!
I literally cannot get my head round it. .. best not to try head might explode lol
darrenburns123 as a rhythm player who sings I cautiously advise you to not try and get your head around how he does it because I can't fucking get my fingers to navigate the fretboard as smoothly as Dave can whilst singing, too fucking impossible
Comrade Galvus not to mention this is how long ago?? I’m 24 and I don’t think we’ll ever witness another Dave Mustaine, he’s kinda like Tom Brady
he has more skill in his small toe than all of metallica combined
You know, it's funny- Dave says that 1.) He invented thrash, and 2.) He's the best rhythm guitar player in the world, along with James Hetfield. You'd normally think that was just egomaniacal boasting; but, the more you read about the history of thrash, Dave's influence on Metallica's original sound and Metallica's consequent spawning of the scene, and learn about what he's actually doing as a rhythm player, the more you come to appreciate that no, it's not a boast, it's just straight up facts.
The solo on My Last Words is fuckin' awesome
Of course it is. Every solo that isn't with regular notes is awesome
I remember this show my first show megadeth I was 22 damn miss those day and R.I.P. Gar the enegery they had I loved it

Almost...lol
Yeah well, thats called tapping

@@akidk1499 oh, I just noticed. I was talkin about the timestamp the guy was talkin about. But yeah, Dave was high af around those years. Great style, very sloppy but so much power on it!
That's insane.
Metallica won the charts, Megadeth won the hearts.
Totally
eplugs18 They really did : )
Amazing megadeth
I agree, but both bands are the best! I'm Metallica fan lml
megadave
I've seen this many times and I just for the first time noticed Gar's brother Stew (Stewart) Samuelson behind Dave around the 2 minute mark. Stew is an amazing guitarist in his own right and I believe he was Dave's guitar tech during the Peace tour. Stew, Gar, Travis, Dave Inman, and my brother were in a band Gar and Stew started called Fatal Opera after Chris and Gar were fired from Megadeth. Hey Stew!
+aerlial360 Your brother was in Fatal Opera?!?!??!
Bro that is so dope. I started listening to that after I found out Gar played in a band after Megadeth. Such as shame he died young. R.I.P.
@@zzzhuh Yes. I travelled with them and went to a lot of their gigs when they'd tour around Florida in the very early 90s. Gar and Stew became what I would consider good friends. Great guys. Their demos and at least the first album was absolutely amazing and IMHO would've gone very far if they had had the means.
few players are blessed with their own unique, instantly recognizable sound. Poland is one of them
One of the most underrated guitar players of all time. He shreds sooooo hard.
Matt Byrd and is smoooooooth too.
He wasn’t blessed he severed a tendon in his finger and it gives him insane stretch on the frets which almost no but Jeff young and few others could emulate well
man. dave was just such a badass.
Kermicheo Kermit still is
Nelia Ramirez mhm, during this era he was more of a lead player, so we really got to see what he was capable of. Unlike in later years when he became more of a rhythm player. I honestly prefer the kimb through peace sells where he was more lead, its entertaining to both listen and watch mustaine solo.
Dave is still a badass
Ellefson was a great bass player too
Agreed, this is Megadeth at their finest imho. Chris Poland is without a doubt my favorite guitarist the band ever had, bar none. Cheers for the upload!!
+hashysh13 See him play lately? Wow!!!!
yeah, he's a freakin' monster player. Just amazing and always great to watch. I've never seen him live unfortunately.
No comparison in my opinion. Marty and kiko are great and all but Poland is fucking insane. Killing is my business and business is good is by far my favorite album
Amazing duo listening to Dave’s monster riffs along with Chris’s insane leads and unique solos. Jeff Young is a very great megdeth guitarist who could recreate Poland’s leads and play his solos very accurately
@@mikeokhurtz2152so true peace sell killing is my business and so far so good so what are their three best albums
chris' guitar isn't loud enough 😞
@John Lydon yeah
chris poland was better than marty imo
I can hear him clearly. He has the loud Rockman sound.
@@timbuk1126 Same 4 me bro..Guys,listen Chris and look him...He's Dave's master....And just the Gooood , What a pleasure seem them like it 😎😎😎

I'm sure Dave mustaine had it designed that way he was just esablishing his domamant Alpha males thing especially one with an agenda to finish his agenda with Metallica
Best thrash lineup in history.!period
I agreee
This is pure thrash at it's best. The Menza - Friedman era was more like a step towards techmetal.
mmm, rather to technical version of "American 90's heavy metal". (heavy/thrash combined)
Yes!
Absolutely! RIP Gar...
This is vintage, i was sixteen when this concert took place and wish i could've been there. Thank God someone had a camera, cause this is truly "Megadeth" the original!!!!
6:12 when your guitar riff sounds amazing even in the lowest quality recording possible, you know you got something!!!
The impact of Chris's deep evil rhythm guitar tone
@@nbkawtgnobody Chris used a tube amp I believe during this time that gave his unique playing style an even more unique low and warmer tone. This meant his evil sounding rhythm playing supplemented Dave's sharp edgy tone perfectly.
I collapsed on the floor cuz it was so good 😂
Dave totally nailed that solo in My last words, phenomenal performance.
*The only Megadeth line up which mattered, drags me out of my depression every time, such a classic. shame we didnt see much of Gar, such a good drummer R.I.P.*
No video of Gar in action, that's my only reservation with this. It's really a shame as he was an integral part of the band.
Lov ya Gar bro \ o /
This is definitely my favorite lineup Megadeth ever had. Those first two albums with this lineup are amazing albums. I love listening to this era of Megadeth.
I loved the Peace Sells era more than any other personally. Thanks for this! I never got to see any passable footage of them with Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson. I actually live 30 min. from Dunkirk, NY were Chris and Gar grew up! Megadeth rules!
Jamie Moll i started to listen to Megadeth thru peace sells and love its raw in filtered sound, but i prefer the marty line up
Eddie I prefer this lineup even if I got into Megadeth through the Friedman and Menza lineup.
@@Adrian-ne1qn
Yeah same. I heard Rust first. But Killing and Peace fucken rip me every time. Those dudes are my big4. Amazing band.
Me to my friend I live in Jamestown NY not far from Dunkirk theses boys grew up here
It's insane that Dave can sing while playing those riffs. Obviously he probably practiced it but to anyone that has tried singing and playing at the same time it's harder that one would think. Probably a lot of I ate gifted talent. To anyone saying Dave can't sing- he's singing; and I love his punk rock snarl
He just starts picking and stumbles over the fretboard. Watch him try to play any of this slow and explain it, when hes trying to demo it. He cant and its downright cringy watching him try. Hes a C+ guitarist, B+ writer and D- Human.

I would pay huge money to see this setlist live from Megadeth now. They should really start playing these songs again!!! I don't even care if Dave can't sing them :) We will help :)
only if they leave their phones at home ok? 🤣

The best metal guitarist of all time, thanks for leaving that other band Dave or else there would be no Megadeth for us to enjoy. Dave Mustane fucking rules period!
Thank Metallica for kicking him out, he didn’t leave. Lol. But trust me, glad he created Megadeth!
I think its Megadeth best 80's live footage, along with Essen 88 but the line up and performance was much better here. This proof how good Dave at playing and singing at the same time while also doing plenty of lead + booze , also play it faster than on the record.
Vic Rattlehead pure, raw energy and adrenaline.. I can only imagine what this show sounded like in person.
Thank you for this piece of Thrash history! This is fantastic.
Crazy to see them play these iconic songs in such a small venue. Wish I could have been there!
These 4 dudes on heroin created some epic shit. I know nothing lasts forever, but it's too bad these guys didn't last just a little bit longer.
If you ride on heroin, things you do will not last for too long...
Best quality vid I've seen from this era.
Phil Grundy you can actually somewhat hear the vocals 😂 rock on my friend 🤘🤘
Unbelievable piece of history here. The solo on My Last Words is my favorite Dave solo and also my favorite song. Played to perfection here. The whole band is on fire.
Thanks for posting!!
Dave at the height of his guitar powers here. As soon as the BC Rich Bich left, so did his interest in playing lead guitar. There were a few moments after this, but not many, and no Megadeth show after 1988 would have him playing this much lead guitar. Every guitar has a soul, and that particular guitar brought out the gnarliest riffs in him. I wonder where it is today.
This is gold! People forget what a Legend is Dave on guitar both Rhythm and Lead. From the 2-4-7 stretch on Conjuring while he sings to the Yngwie arpeggios (before Yngwie) on Last words to bending on the neck pickup rails to get the high notes on Loved to Death......Simply Legend.
Dave had so much talent that he was gonna make it big no matter what
The audio and video quality on this is remarkable for the time. The videographer knew exactly where to zoom his lense, as I don’t think I’ve seen Chris Poland or Dave’s finger positions as clear as this footage.
Best Megadeth lineup for me, classic!
Now this is how I remember metal without the lasers and flashy lights of success.
These where my favourite times for metal.
Peace sells and so far so good so what are my favourite albums.
Killing is my business is awesome too 💀
Man I seen this show at fitzgerald's in houston tx. I was 15 the most amazing and personal show I have ever witnessed. That dude to this day still blows me away on his guitar skills. Thank you Dave for all you have given the metal scene, a true pioneer.

That Devils Island performance was intense. I believe this was when the band was the most extreme and passionate.
My favorite version of megadeth, in fact if i could be at any megadeth show it would probably be this one... The intimate setting, the great sound, the energy is really on point and a hell of a perfornance
chris poland. YOU ARE GOD !!!! BEST SOLOS IVE EVER HEARD. IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN
He has the flow.
Chris Poland hardly moves his fingers. It's amazing
Dude Dave is a fucking wizard he is hand is moving so fast while is mailing these licks he is singing and then when comes in for solo he fucking rips it
Chris Poland is ripping it up in this video! But are there any close-ups of Gar playing any drums in this clip? R.I.P., Gar.
Thank you to whoever posted this. Had a lot of fun on that tour, it took watching this to remember that far back!
Man , wake up dead to the conjuring. Epic 🤘🔥🔥🤘
Dude, how did these guys manage to function so well on-stage (i.e. playing very well etc) whilst being totally out of it (i.e. high, strung-out etc) for the entire tour ? ! It's just crazzzzzy ! Lunaaaatic ! Manic to the nth degree !
Yeah I always kinda wondered that too. And Chris seems like such a mellow dude. And I have watched every 80s-90s Megadeh interview ever and Dave really never seems that out of control (strung out or high)
Must've been because they had a great job to go to. Regardless of the wear and tear of playing all the time.
Its a lot easier than you think. As a musician that has done tours while being on heroin its easy to play high..its actually fun. Playing music is second nature to a pro...now playing dopesick on the other hand is a whole different story...THAT SUCKS!! haha Not condoning drug use just replying.
Jerome Del Soldato can confirm playing high is fun how ever pot was the drug of choice for me.
@@OutletManagementGrp Hello My Friend. As a 20 year heroin/meth addict (not proud of it by any means, but...) I will say you are exactly right. Playing while tweaked is one of the funnest things in the world and so many people don't understand if you have been doing heroin for any length of time the problems come when you take away the heroin. You literally need it to function.
Wow, I didn't know Dave played most of the leads on the peace sells album. I love the leads on that album.
I saw this lineup at a club called Rockitz in Richmond VA during the first leg of the Peace Sells tour. It was Ellefson's birthday which puts it two weeks after this show. INSANE! 200 people at most, the band was on it. Insanity.

I really really love their first album Killing is my business...and business is good, so this live video is GOLD. I totally love early MEGADETH.I found it just now though I have listened to Megadeth since So Far So Good came out.
