the impressive thing was the studio never had a lot of budget, but they used what they had and did THIS. Credit to them, hope they get more time and budget for season 2
It really is insanely impressive what they did with this anime considering, in my opinion at least, it did not have a SINGLE bad episode. It was consistently amazing, entertaining and funny throughout. In a lot of anime even if they are overall good there's at least a couple of episodes that are clearly worse than the whole, but I genuinely cannot say that about TEIS.
Budget efficiency just like Cid's magic efficiency, from the background character equivalent of anime studios.
@@Argionelite Reminds me of One Punch Man Season 1’s budget and animation discrepancy.
I agree. And that means it ends up dunking on all those anime and shows with massive budgets that look like crap. massive budgets are overrated. It means nothing fi you don't have the skill to back it up, even though a large budget means you should theoretically be able to hire people with such skills. While people with real skill and the motivation to do the work can do amazing things on a shoestring. The difference between real artists and overpaid hacks.
Was it's budget small? I have no idea what it's budget was or what an average budget is to compare, so I'm asking honestly out of curiosity. If it was small, then it is very impressive.
I noticed the studio hasn't done much but some of the staff have impressive histories. Especially the sound director, Jin Aketagawa, seems to be a pretty big name in the industry.
Take note, Rose Orianna in the final episode, the end credits has her marked down as 666. And not Rose. With the normal voice actor listed next to her. She lost her name truly when she joined Shadow Garden.
And the credits appear RIGHT AS SHE SCREAMS
rose orianna and her squad mates are actually shown in the very first episode btw
Does the number also have any significance
Also cool thing that you noticed
I noticed the number there and suspected that's what they did, but couldn't confirm since it was in Japanese.
@@aweebtaku429 Nah, she is the 666th member
I love how the show doesn't force us to justify Shadow's actions. It just shows Shadow being Shadow.
honestly they do it for everyone. NO one says oh its the princess so she's right or she's alpha so she is good or something
I think that's more on the author's ability rather than on the show.
@@erseshe I've actually read the manga and maybe it's just me but the anime just bring out the character personality cid's personality in particular more than the manga
As Shadow already said, they're neither striving to be the hero nor the villain, but the one that moves behind the shadow.
@@UFInstinct no shit man, anime was based on light novel which is a bit less goofy and have much more details. As I remember correctly in the end of tournament ark the only one actually fighting shadow was Beatrice while our oh so important warrior princess was sitting in the corner shirtless. Her mental break is quite fine detail. Also in the manga they didn't show us the named double digits aside from Nimber 13 (Nu). Anime/LN already showed us Numbers 11 (Lambda), 22 (Kai) and 24 (Omega)
One thing that wasn't mentioned that I like so much is that Shadow did actually use that enormous magic circle. He used it to clear the sky. His final stroke could wiped the city off the map, but he cleared up the weather instead. That is the most passive aggressive flex I have ever seen.
I'm low key surprised Nux doesn't see the impact in the princess's final scene. It's the stupid sentimental value of the wrapper that makes that scene strong. It was her last interaction with 'Sid' before she became an outlaw. I would go as far as saying that's like a soldier having his wife/girlfriends picture in their helmet kind of value. She could give up her life as a princess hoping for even a chance to save her country, but to have to give up the one you love caused her to break down.
To me it was vital she losses that wrapper, perhaps the way was harsher than necessary. The wrapper was her way of hanging on to the past. A promise when I'm done here I'll get burgers with my friends again and go back to my life as a student. That sadly is one thing that can never happen as she well always be the princess who killed her father and attacked her fiance for seemingly no reason. Even if the truth was revealed she still did these things. By ripping up the wrapper it takes that promise away from her. Saying no this is your life now. Live it.
I'm excited for the moment she realized that
the leader of Shadow Garden is Cid
My favorite part of the ending is when Alexis is training her sword not even giving a moment to care about the lightshow in the sky while her sister is crying like a baby cause she lost for once to someone with real skill.
Actually, Alexis said that even if she were to die here (due to the explosion) she will continue to pursue strength. That wasn't present in the novel, but it showed that in the anime, Alexis isn't afraid of death and is currently single-mindedly chasing strength.
@@dievictoria93 Now I want to see Alexis defeat Iris one day.
@@usaspy5941me too
They even contrast the scene of her swinging her sword right next to Iris dropping hers, it’s really cool cinematography. Also, it’s cool that the slash she’s training is the simple movement she picked up from the first “I am atomic”.
@@KoinzellGaming i thought there was a scene when she fought the people who impersonated the shadow garden and knowing that they will kill her, she was going to eat the pills cuz she rather take them than dying, isnt it? o
One thing that never gets mentioned in these, is that the fact that in the new world Cid was brought into, they don't speak Japanese. So names like Doemu Ketsuhatto and Jimina Senen literally sound like natural names to the inhabitants of that world, compared to their translations.
its also why I hate that the subtitles translated them
@@sdbzfan1 Why? It's funnier when you know the translations and I think that's why the author named them that way anyway cuz Every Jap readers knows the meaning so why wouldn't they translate it for everybody else?
@@sdbzfan1 You think they should have just said the names like that comment did and given the foreign audience the impression that they were real, and not intended to be a very blatant joke? Nah plenty of localization to complain about but this ain't it
@@Claudekr they could have easily put notes in the subtitles like fan subs do
You know the famous "keikaku means plan", that came from fansubs not official subs
The manga translation uses the names as names and then translates the actual joke on the side, otherwise translating it loses the purpose of it being a name, plus Doem isnt Doem its Do M which is a way of saying Big Masocist or Big Pervert, so that name also isnt translated correctly in the first place, besides im only saying how i wished they just left them as names, tons of japanese names in anime have meanings like Tsuki meaning moon or Fudo meaning unmoveable, they just arent translated because that isnt how names are said, the joke in emience being the names are understood differently in japanese but still said as names so they shouldnt be translated all the time
@@sdbzfan1 "Doemu" isn't a translation, it's a transliteration of the JP pronunciation, which is accurate.
Actual names aren't translated because they are understood by the audience as, well, actual names and not as literal meanings. They don't hear "Honda" and think "Origin rice field". When they hear the joke names used here, they absolutely think "pervert asshat" because it cannot possibly be construed as a legitimate name. Providing that same experience to the foreign audience is justifiable.
"Unfortunate that this show carried under the radar for so long"
It was literally the most highly rated show for both of the anime seasons it was in.
It took almost two months or 8 episodes for it to start to get some popularity from what I remember and if you consider shows like attack on Titan or demon slayer or even sword art online how they exploded world wide and literally shifted the community of anime for their times.
That’s what it’s being compared to. For that reason I do say imagine if this came out the same season as sword art online. It would have made a huge impact. But now it will just have a cult following.
@@Livingvapour Took 2 weeks for it to reach top 3 and had become number 1 by episode 6 for the site I used.
And it was airing next to Chainsaw Man & Spy x Family.
@@6th_Army i dont think you remember the cultural impact AoT and SAO were at their times. and demon slayer too. NORMIES picked up these titles. entire Cons were filled with survey corps cosplays everywhere. i have not seen that level for Shadow/cid / the numbers in the slightest. they even made it easy for you all you need is the slimesuit and your own face and you are one of the numbers.
@@Livingvapour What are you even talking about.
I like eminence in shadow however, it definitely was not the highest rated show in the season the first half aired.
The Eminence in Shadow is somewhat of a
masterpiece that somehow should not be a masterpiece😅
The animal pretends to be normal but is secretly very good, just like the protagonist.
💯
Yall realize that when Shadow used his Atomic with an aura Radius of around 2 meters. He vaporized a kilometer wide and deep hole into the capital.
IMAGINE HIS LAST ATTACK WOULD HAVE GONE OFF
True, does make one wonder if it could have been the hydrogen bomb equivalent versus the fission bomb one. Well, wouldn't have been anything good for the country if that had exploded...
pretty sure it did go off, but he pointed it towards the sky
I'll admit the sky did look rather sunny afterwards.
One thing a lot of people didnt notice is that right before he retracts his atomic magic in the final episode they pan out to show the entire city and you can clearly see the crater from first atomic which is tiny in comparison to area that this one covered.
@@mr.jasiscreldoyup, he cleared the sky
Maybe I’m sick because I though Rose’s induction to Shadow Garden was hilarious. She’s all broken up by the destruction of her last connection to Cid, but in reality she’s becoming closer to him than ever.
Finale was exeggerated, because it was the end of season 1. In LN and manga, fight was shorter, didn't happen all over the city, also Beatrix and Iris didn't have a chance to compete with Lord Shadow to begin with. Not to mention, that Iris wasn't so pissed off. Fight ended with Shadow leaving and saying: "Don't lose the sight of the true enemy" , and Iris be like: "True enemy? Shadow... Who are you?". Iris's sword is reference from the game, if I heard correctly, because there wasn't anything like this artifact in LN and Manga.
Then they added there own small fight scene?
If they did it then ngl they pulled it off pretty well. At least I enjoyed the fight scene.
Sounds like an improvement
@@noble6897 It's just in case, if someone is wondering about these destroyed buildings during the fight. In LN and Manga fight was happening only on the arena. Also anime did not really improve Shadow's character. In LN and manga you can see darker and cooler Shadow-sama, and Shadow Garden wear masks, so people doesn't recognize them. It was said, that anime did not add these masks, because it's hard to draw, small budget, not enough time etc. In LN you get other people's perspective, Iris's perspective, Shadow's perspective, Alexia's perspective and so on. Anime did it too, but a lot less times, also more characters' backstories. You just must experience manga and LN on your own, and then decide which better.
@@Swallowtail01 why compare and decide which is better when you can enjoy both? I read LN and manga, yet, I'm glad its not the exact repetition of what is written in the manga. The anime is quite refreshing to watch like eating my favorite meal with different twists
@@aasky66 After I've read Manga, I didn't really want to continue anime. Because I couldn't stop comparing it to the manga, th things that anime missed, and was lacking, and when you know what's going to happen, and that they left a quite few important things, like the masks for example. I didn't really want to watch it anymore. So I watched 6 first episode fully, and rest were just parts of others' reactions. Not really watching it. "The point isn't to convince them, the point is to annoy them" is probably the most Nux Taku quote I've ever heard.
This show keeps finding new ways to surprise me on how good it actually is 10/10 idc what people say it might be a Masterpiece in shadows never to be truly recognized as the best and the absolute greatest show to ever come. Hopefully season 2 won’t destroy this gg
Nah its definitely a 10/10 and a masterpiece.
Its weird how no one mentions the slime sword/bodysuit hes had this entire time, and gave to shadow garden
The ripple effect on the costumes r awesome
Best thing about nux hyping eminence is that he sayed he won’t watch it in the anime season react xD
This
Cid TRULY has accomplished his goal. He is the deus ex machina that comes to save the real protagonists when they are in trouble ... all the time because they are horribly outmatched in their respective quests.
Considering how cringe this show _should_ be, it has such great style. It doesn't have a huge budget but it uses it very well and it just has me captivated. The last episode was the epitome of that
We all merely adopted the cringe. Shadow was born in the cringe. Molded by it. He still to this day has never known anything else but the cringe... and in his mastery over it, made it BASED.
To describe Cid Kaganou, I would say he is the 4 way love child of Saitama, Ainz, Kazuma, and Light. Simply beautiful 👌
the anime adaptation of eminence in shadow is incredibly serious about not talking itself seriously.
it's great.
9:25 cmon Nux, could your eyes not keep up with the choreography of the fight? 😂😂
This series isn't my usual cup of tea but my goodness was it phenomenal and has me wanting more!! I can't wait for Part 2!! I also can't wait to see what lies in store for Rose💛💛

Season 1 is a huge cliffhanger! All the pieces are in place and Shadow Garden is just getting started!
Cid's Chuuni adventure is getting better!
You’ll probably love season 2. If they keep up the animation and sound quality.
@@sidecharacter7165 Like jesus Acary shit happens and Cid's bullshit go BRRRRRR
That's why Nux is my favourite politician.
Promises made, Promises kept.
Bro the curb stomp was absolute dominance incarnate
Not gonna lie I’ve loved this whole arc that Nux has gone on with this anime. From the gigguk video to this it’s been a crazy ride!
I really hope Garnt watches your videos, I think he would love all the eminence and shadow content recently
The anime did Cid's final words differently in the anime than in the novel and manga where he said "Don't lose sight of the true enemy" (randomly to sound cool of course, he still has no idea about the cult's existence at this point and thinks they're just bandits or random villains). I think the anime did it better because it would explain Iris' future actions and motivations better than if he warned her about the true enemy. Plus he did so much badassery before he left, leaving such a huge impression on the people that they begin calling him a demon.
I think that statement isn't for Iris but is what he thought for himself. He was about to seriously obliterate the whole capital to show his might when he had flashbacks and saw his kid self saying "yamero". It reminded him that not Iris nor the capital is the real enemy but something else
It's always better for an anime to go under the radar to avoid being sensored.
If everybody sees it then there is chances it can get censored.
Yay! Please keep posting this!
I wish they would have done a side episode. That was a gag episode of Sid just trying to steal the piano and sneak it through windows and doors without damaging the piano.
Well, you're not wrong about using the argument that the anime tricked people. Hell the author trolled us for half of the first episode into thinking that the throwaway character in ep 1 was the main character. Hell even the title of the episode was "The hated classmate" or something like that, that was clearly her viewpoint of things, not Cid's (well Minoru at this point still lol) but he was introduced to us IN background character mode, freaking hilarious.
Wow THATS ME! thanks for watching my vid glad you liked it dude
I know u have a few videos now on this show, well deserved and dun too I might add, but I’m REALLY hoping for a “female characters dun RIGHT” video on either Rose or Iris. I honestly thought they were both great pieces of the show.
The reason it’s getting another season almost immediately is due to the insane popularity of the light novel
Their secret base is bigger than the Village hidden in the Mist from Naruto.
Season 2 was confirmed in late February so at least we know!
Fortunately S2 was already announced. Took them a single week after EP20 to announce it.
Source please.. I thought I heard something but haven't verified anything yet
He did not put the toys back in the toybox he just threw them away for someone else to pick them up.
The name game is strong in this one, Perv Asshat aside,
Cid Kagenō, when sequenced - surname, then name, as they do in japan - gives us Kagenō Cid, literally meaning Cid of the shadows,
this series truly is just full of small tasty treats for the viewer, which just makes it so much better
It’s one of the series that if you have seen a lot of isekai than it will blow your socks off.
CJ needs to make a video about Cid after season 2 because the guy just disrespectful to EVERYONE
he made three video about eminence of shadow. He's really love the series
Сhoreography in Kagejitsu is much better than in Kimetsu no Yaiba or Chainsaw Man. I've been noticing an immense amount of details and thought put into the action sequences when I rewatched the show. For example, right before getting crowbars, Cid noticed a construction site, and let Iris land a hit just so he's pushed into the wall, destroying it, just so he can pick two crowbars from the workers instruments that went up in the air. Another example is how well the last scene is blended with the ending, there were scenes when 666 gets recruited, or a scene with Annerose departing from the town right in the middle of Cid's fight with Iris/Beatrix. The last bit of the fight, when Cid throws his sword in the air before incapacitating both his opponents, then he catches the sword and proceeds with wrapping up the scene.
The direction has been consistently fantastic throughout the whole season, with no dull moments or classic TV-pacing when an action scene gets stretched just to fill a 22-minute quota. There are some fillers (the whole episode 10) but they are accounted in the pacing of the show, placed right where it needs to slow down from the previous action-packed episode and right before it needs to accelerate again for the next story arc.
As for comparison, Kimetsu no Yaiba suffers heavily from the TV format, the peak moments are so smoothed out to fill the episode time, you lose the flow, there is no contrast between action and peaceful scenes, they just don't hit as much as they should have, despite the insance production values. And Chainsaw Man is made by burnt out overworked Mappa animators that have lost the clear view of the direction so the whole season looks like a homogenous mass of scenes rather that a directed show.
@theultimateevil3450 I can tell you why the fight scenes are good for this anime. Kazuya Nakanishi is the director of this series and he worked on a really great anime( which never got a second season) called Rakudai no Kishi. A series that had some amazing fight sequences in it. He clearly brought that experience for this and combined with excellent sound design made the episode and the series shine.
The plbest part is Cid is SO disconnected from reality, he doesn't even realize he accidentally was correct when he made up everything to Alpha.
in novel and manga, after their escape from sanctuary Alexia, Rose, and Natsumi (Beta) established some sort of alliance between the 3 of them using each other`s expertise and resources to uncover the truth between shadow garden and cult of diabolos like the supposed 3 heroes (despite never realising one of their member basically is a member of shadow garden.) this alliance was cut short as Rose become fugitive.
Alexia and Natsumi confronted rose, witnessing her killed the assassin like a madman.
Alexia attacked Rose to stop her but she was immidiately beaten
Rose about to fight Beta too but she secretly revealed herself as in the knowing of Shadow Garden and that Rose should go do what she think is right.
leaving Beta and Devastated Alexia on the sewer.
this all happened in 1 arc..they were designed like a the hero of story grouping up to fight evil but immidiately crushed by betrayal after shadow 'corrupted' their member...
8:38 He did though. It was pouring down and then the sky was clear when he disappeared. That's not something you can do without going Atomic
Best thing from the LN/manga that isn't in the show: Cid doesn't actually believe the cult exists. He just thinks he's *that good* at gaslighting these girls
fcking nux , i havent even finished the video and the MOMMENT you stoped shadows speach i've raged went back to hear the full speach and now still watching , Do not stop theese momments plis .
I'm still recommending Weeb Commander's channel, for all anime fans looking for some great breakdown of everything anime.
I think it was alluded even from the first episode that the world had something to do with making him out to be epic. After saving the girl, it cut slowly to the sky, the moon was an upturned mouth and squinting eyes as if in laughter. It makes you wonder, doesn't it?
The best part is whenever Shadow spoke English.
Imagine what the others thought of this mystical language not of that world.
Repeating, she "666" is in the first episode. At the end where the team is ready to attack, when they show girls at random places
they show her for a second from the back her hair is cut same sword.
You want to know the crazy part. This city acts as Shadow Gardens' base is protected by some type of mist dragon. Shadow beat the dragon and made the hq with the dragon's Powers still protecting it
Run away?
Who's running?
Running where?
WHY WOULD I RUN?!
Damn that was so badass.
When the world you live in is based upon lies only a villain can be yourself salvation
Trailer for season 2 has already dropped! Let’s go!
Someone also mentioned that the base where shadow garden is where Cid beat a dragon which is a reference to the mobile RPG game
This man needs a greater vocabulary, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful every other line.
I think my favorite part of the finale was when Rose pulls out an artifact, Shadow makes fun of her, and she is pissed afterwards.
The German name of the antagonist is even better, it ruffly translates to "masochistic assslapler"
i love how he put the Gamma in the slime bikini when he said what he said
4:06 cid is like bro why you interrupting my shadow character monologue like I took my time to make perfect scenario I even wait for the perfect moment when it’s accurately night and raining cid is weather man
POV: just remember this is a better description
Naw actually he is basically a movie producer he sets everything up correctly to make the perfect scenes
I love how Shadow is legit a living nuke. At the end he showed how at any moment, he could destroy entire kingdoms, and I don’t think the citizens or leaders have fully wrapped their heads around that yet. Probably because they still think it’s an artifact.
nux said he would make ONE eminence in shadow videos, and now showed 3(his own videos, not including reaction vids and one is a thumbnail spoiler)
I always wonder for the moonlight sonata scene how many birds did cid kill to get the feathers to set the stage.
bruh he didnt even talk about the "running where" dialogue
Cid Kagenou is not an Edgy me.
I am a Seiso Cid Kagenou.
My favorite part of this is that this fight is not part of the original novel. In the novel he just one tapped them, launched “I am atomic”, then left. So they made this entire epic fight scene just for the anime!
The story writing is just genius the writer focused on the side characters instead of the protag.
the last atomic he let off got aimed at the sky, straight saitama'd the rain away. also when the last episode aired there was a live stream with four of the VAs that announced the second season was alreaady in production
I wonder how the fuck did he transport the paino so big without anyone noticing it
That some amazing talent😮
That whole bass (pronounced like the fish) effect.
Can’t wait Hoping for sakamoto days to get animated then we will see amazing choreography 😅
GG's flex goes like
Anime:
personal -> small group -> big group -> district -> big city
After that in LN:
bigger city -> country (not 100% run) -> country (epic "Black Rose" out of 10, making history level)
IT JUST GOES BIGGER AND BIGGER!
Waiting for the world level of flex (or for 2 worlds lv... multiverse of flex? idk).
I legit forget that EiS is an isekei.... the "real world" is literally never referenced again, outside of reminiscing on Cid's pre-Truck-kun training
The second season has been announced for Oct 2023.
iris just kept getting louder and louder like shadow is f**king her and she reached her limit
In another world with my smartphone got another season.
Let that sink in
Man these shadow of Eminence videos are fire
If Sid were TRULY OP, he would have played a Mozart piece.
3:28 reminds me of Corky Romano ”its pronounced Piss-ahnt" if they had put a line in with Perv saying "its pronounced Ahss-ha-t" I would have lost it when i watched
What's even more impressive is that there is a logical reason why Cid was isekai'd in the first place and the plot further develops from this.
Spoilers ahead.
The latest arc in the manga is a reverse Isekai where Cid goes back to japan with Beta and finds it in a post-apocalyptic dystopia similair to God Eater or Seraph of the End. He runs into that classmate he saved from episode 01 and he pretends to be an NPC character with amnesia to learn wtf happened.
I like this anime a lot because, subconsciously or not, I watched the whole thing in 2-3 sittings. Like, each episode brought me from start to finish without feeling bored or lost, and the endings almost always left me wanting more. Sure, I kinda felt confused on some parts, but it was nothing to stop for and I'm glad I didn't stop. Can't wait for season 2
in shadows fights its never a question about IF he could beat his enemys, but rather HOW cool it will look.
Cid is the most based character example shows girl Excalibur leaves and then refused to elaborate further
Sid ever flexes while playing piano, that piece is so hard to ever play half decent. I’m trying to learn it right now, and not it’s not because I watch this anime just a funny coincidence
I love that sentence the point is not to convince them that it's good the point is to annoy them till they agree with you if only to shut you up
Fight so disrespectful it could go viral on pornhub

Moonlight Sonata has always been a banger and always will be.
Worth pointing out, Shadow is a complete and total psycho. He was moments away from killing Iris, *just because it would be dramatic* until he saw what was going on in the VIP booth and decided that would be more flashy.
Production of season 2 was announced in late February. Barring any disasters, it should arrive eventually. Just an FYI for fans.
I'm really hoping they keep the momentum up.
this doesn't relate to the video but not sure where else to say this, but I know many people have been unsubscribed from 'Nux Taku' but today, i found that the opposite happened, I clicked on my subscriptions and there was a 'Dream' video, I have never watched a dream video, or even click his channel, somethings up with youtube
edit: it did mark the channel as 'subscribed' and i had to unsubscribe, also keep up the good work Nux
It always feel like they threw a typical trash Isekai OP hero into a serious and really well made world and just watched what was gonna happen
Seems like it. I hope they continue to follow the light novel. Seeing people tank I am atomic would be sweet.
You thought Mundane Man was he best undercover name, then wait till season 2…. I can assure you he will create yet another disguise with an even more generic yet hilarious aliase 😂
There are many points throughout the show where I would love to hear what’s going on in Cid’s head when he’s fighting, but are usually shown from an outside perspective
They dropped a teaser for season 2. It comes.
