@Somchine13 what amp are you using? I have them in 3cf ported with a 6inch aero, and 2cf sealed also... on a jp23 v2... just not up to the hype.. in a 75% sound deaden 90 civic sedan. I'll give then a 5/10

All three sizes of the SQL range have really nice looking T/S Parameters! They’ve all got a lower Fs than usual for this type of driver. Most drivers with an Fs as low as this have very soft suspension (top-roll & spiders) and lower strength/weaker motors with less power handling. Or the Vas ends up being huge, but these drivers also have a relatively low Vas. The SQL-15 has a Vas of just over 4 cu.ft and an Fs or 23.8 Hz. It’ll have no problems playing

I run an SQL-15 in my SQ system that I compete with. It's like a secret weapon. It sounds amazing, gets way down into those subsonics and cost a fraction of what other boutique subs cost. If you have the space the 15 is the way to go.
Thank you for covering the smaller subs that they offer. I have had my eye on them for a few years now. It will be fun to see what you do with them and how well they perform for you.

I'd like to see the SQL-12 in a sealed 1.0 ft^3 net vs. a ported 1.5 ft^3 box for a car audio application. I currently have a SQL-12 waiting for an enclosure box. The frustrating part is that I keep going back and forth between sealed and ported.
@@girthquake9655 why? sealed is better SQ, wider bandwidth, better on music and much easier to build, these sql subs were and are designed to be played in sealed boxes.

So for the version 2 the port enclosure volume is 1.5cf and tuning of 24hz with displacement of 0.15cf. Is this the same of the version 1 even with a bigger basket? And are they also 1000rms? Thanx loving your videos and the theatre is crazy
Very entertaining video. I don't think one can get reasonable sound quality on a 12" with a moving mass of 400 gram however. Compared to home audiophile 12-inch what could be looking at less than 100g Mms.
Speaking with the owner, I believe he said that adding mass helps lower the f3, extending its range down lower. I'm not extremely versed on speaker design myself
Good luck having a subwoofer "AT ALL" if vehicles all become powered "only" by batteries. Or I guess you could listen to your car stereo while sitting in your driveway. Nobody has even focused on what it would mean for the after market car audio segment if only EV's are available.
I would think the Stereo would be pretty low consumption compared to the drive train, but yea some larger systems would draw some power... good thing I just bought a diesel 😁

I did some Winisd modeling of some of their subs. The 15" SQL modeled well but it does not hit as low as my old Infinity Reference 12" 1262W or my Alpine 12" R2-W12D2. -Infinity Reference 1262W in 4.56 cu ft vented box has an F3 of 19hz -SI SQL 15 in a 4.89 cu ft vented box has an F3 of 21hz. -Alpine R2-W12D2 in a 4.245 cu ft vented box has an F3 of 18hz
I really want that 15 in a 4th order blow-through. I really want it in MY OWN damn truck, but FFS I wish 09 rangers had deeper beds. 16.5" max height limit under the tonneau cover is a BITCH, especially since I wanted to make 1" material by gluing 0.5" sheets of ply together with a special damping glue. Wait a minute.... Nah... These have a much smaller motor than a Sundown X5 and I could almost use a 15-degree angled baffle plate on those to squeeze them in with 3/4 material... I might be able to go 20 degrees with one of these and maybe even use my special 1" material idea, still! What's the mounting depth and overall ring diameter on the 15?

There are some people posting pics of their woofers with broken surrounds and some other issues pertaining to blowing up the sub. That come with giving then 2-3x their rated power. A lot of the comments from the posters admit they are giving them well above rated power. That's going to happen with any speaker though. These are solid driver that have many years of performance ahead of then when driven properly. I've used Nick's products for nearly 6 years now. They still perform great

(Will be for a jeep wrangler jl 40"l x 24"H x 24" D, depending on enclosure. 10.64cf to 12.9cf before displacement and bracing and port 3 subs up 3 subs back & port back.) The specs are the same for the ver 1 and 2, just a different basket design (slightly more shallow for ver 2 and black). Really would just depend on your preference for color!
I have 2 of the 15s in my Tahoe in an Infinite Baffle setup behind my third row seating. I'm running a little over 3000 watts rms to the pair at 4 ohms, tuned, and they get loud and dig deep. I'm very happy with SI's subs! I also have 8x 18s in my living room =) great video!
SQ is excellent with all of them. Nick spends a lot of time designing great woofers. The output will be greater going with a larger woofer, especially in the lower hertz (under 30 hz)

That's tough... the 18 is probably going to have more output despite its lower RMS power handling and sensitivity. It's just crazy what extra cone surface area can do. That 15 is gonna be a crazy tight sounding sub just due to its design. I think the biggest difference is going to be your space requirements. If you don't have the extra space for the 18s, go with a smaller enclosure for the 15s. If you have the room, 18s all the way. Plus, you can pretty much grab 2 of the 18s for the price of 1 SQL 15 😳

Are you able to do any DIY box building? To get super low bass, you want large drivers and sealed enclosures. You can do ported, but it takes very large enclosures with super low port tunes. If you can DIY some enclosures or even grab some enclosures from GSG Audio Design to put together, I suggest some Stereo Integrity HT18v3 subwoofers. They are only $200 shipped and have amazing performance for their price. Stereo Integrity has a higher end 18, as well as a 24 inch driver, so it just depends on your budget and space. If you want to buy something premade, Stereo Integrity has their 24" sub in a box ready to go, just need an amp to power them. The other company I would suggest looking at is JTR for premade, ready to go subs. Look at their sealed 18 inch models

A 24 inch subwoofer seems silly. I prefer 8 inch subwoofers, as I like tight punchy bass, and not a "fart mobile". The best music quality is found in a balance of the frequencies. The biggest falsehood about subwoofers is the larger the speaker the lower the bass frequencies. What matter is how the subwoofer is made, with several 8 inch subwoofers hitting 20Hz.
Unfortunately, there are some pretty major misunderstandings you have on woofer design. I suggest going to SI's website and clicking on the education tab. Theres a subwoofer speed article there you may find interesting. There's a lot that goes into a woofer design. Mass, motor force, inductance... all of these work together in a speaker system to get the final result. There are many trash 8s out there that sound boomy and don't dig nearly as deep as they claim. You can't look at one speaker and make some general claim without knowing anything about the design or hearing it. As for low notes... it takes (9) 8 inch drivers to equal the surface area of (1) 24 inch driver. It takes a lot of air movement to reproduce 20 hz and lower. Shoot, under 30 hz takes a respectable sub to reproduce that frequency, especially in home theaters. Can't outrun physics. So let me ask you this... you have (9) 8 inch subs in a room to match (1) 24. Which do you think would sound "tighter"? A single source of reproduction or 9 individual ones? It may look silly online, but I would highly suggest seeing if you can demo some larger driver home theaters in your area to see what the silliness is all about 😉
I've never actually searched for SI videos until today. Currently, in my stash, I have a set of BM 12mk3, 12mk4 and the 11's will be on the way. I also have 3 sql12d2 and will soon have 3 sql10d2 and the PR's to match. I can't wait to get them in the planned box and see where it goes.

A dual 15" sealed enclosure. Would be interesting to see how it would hold up to one of your 24" subs.
You'd need 4 to match the output I think. Takes at least 2 18s to match the surface area and output of a 24, so it'll need a few more 15s

Sealed will have better bandwidth but ported will be louder but with less useable bandwidth. These subs are designed for sealed enclosures.

Yep, same specs as the V1, just a different basket and mounting depth. Everything else should cross over to the V2

Wow, how exactly are you running them infinite baffle? Did you cut out the floor and vent them downward and outside of the vehicle?
So these will do infinite baffle. I wish I had room for their 18” but civic back wall behind seat not tall enough.

Unfortunately, there are some pretty major misunderstandings you have on woofer design. I suggest going to SI's website and clicking on the education tab. Theres a subwoofer speed article there you may find interesting.
There's a lot that goes into a woofer design. Mass, motor force, inductance... all of these work together in a speaker system to get the final result. There are many trash 8s out there that sound boomy and don't dig nearly as deep as they claim. You can't look at one speaker and make some general claim without knowing anything about the design or hearing it.
As for low notes... it takes (9) 8 inch drivers to equal the surface area of (1) 24 inch driver. It takes a lot of air movement to reproduce 20 hz and lower. Shoot, under 30 hz takes a respectable sub to reproduce that frequency, especially in home theaters. Can't outrun physics.
So let me ask you this... you have (9) 8 inch subs in a room to match (1) 24. Which do you think would sound "tighter"? A single source of reproduction or 9 individual ones?
It may look silly online, but I would highly suggest seeing if you can demo some larger driver home theaters in your area to see what the silliness is all about 😉
I've never actually searched for SI videos until today. Currently, in my stash, I have a set of BM 12mk3, 12mk4 and the 11's will be on the way. I also have 3 sql12d2 and will soon have 3 sql10d2 and the PR's to match. I can't wait to get them in the planned box and see where it goes.
Dang you do have a stash!! I'm planning on 3 or 4 of the BM11s in my truck come spring. Can't wait for those!!
