May 7, 2024 supplement in case original instructions in video fail for
a different or same Canon laser printer:
Resetting the System Manager ID on a Canon imageCLASS MF445dw involves accessing the service menu. Here are the general steps:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Press and hold the "Menu" button while turning the printer back on.
    3. Keep holding the "Menu" button until "Service Mode" appears on the screen.
    4. Press the "" buttons to navigate to "COPIER," then press the "OK" button.
    5. Navigate to "FUNCTION," then press the "OK" button.
    6. Navigate to "CLEAR," then press the "OK" button.
    7. Navigate to "P-W" (Password), then press the "OK" button.
    8. Enter "6789" as the default password, then press the "OK" button.
    9. Navigate to "ALL," then press the "OK" button to reset all settings, including the System Manager ID.
Please note that accessing the service menu and making changes to settings can affect the printer's functionality. Ensure you have the necessary knowledge and permission before proceeding. If unsure, it's best to consult with a qualified technician or Canon support.

This doesn't work for my printer at all. The button on the side invokes a volume setting screen and pushing the red button 5 times invokes a screen that shows certain features disabled and the only option have then is to "resume".

      What's the make and model?
      Can you send a screenshot?
I suspect a newer model Canon requires a new RUclips video.
Have you tried calling Canon support
under their warranty? I hope they don’t give you the runaround or cite they no longer support model through phone requiring you to
      search a database.

$56.95 gets you two 057H cartridges with chip installed from eBay.
      Delivered March 23, 2022.
Print quality as good or better than OEM for a fraction of price. Canon uses razor blade pricing model: lose money on
printer but charge as much for replacement cartridge.

Didn’t work for an ImageClass D1620. Does it require a different code? Update: I found an easier way. ruclips.net/video/1t8S_U8aTlk/видео.html&si=Gdq00M_Tfz0mIYsE

Try again. If still fails to reset then follow:
To reset the **System Manager ID** on the Canon imageCLASS D1620, follow these steps:
      ### Method 1: Reset via Admin Menu
      1. **Access Admin Settings:**
      - On the printer’s control panel, press the **Home** button.
      - Navigate to **Menu** > **Management Settings**.
      - Select **System Manager Settings**.
      2. **Reset ID and PIN:**
      - Navigate to **System Manager ID/ PIN** settings.
      - Enter the current **System Manager ID** and **PIN** (default is often `7654321` for both, unless changed).
      - Change or reset the **ID** and **PIN** to new values.
      ### Method 2: Factory Reset (if credentials are forgotten)
      1. **Access Factory Reset:**
      - Press **Home**, go to **Menu** > **Management Settings** > **Initialize All Data/Settings**.
      - Confirm the factory reset.
      > Note: This method resets the printer to factory settings, including all customized data and network settings.
If you're locked out and can't access the **System Manager ID** and **PIN**, you may need to contact Canon support for a service technician or advanced recovery options.
Let me know if you need further help!
