"So Many Roads bounced around the setlist during its lifetime, sometimes appearing in the first set, sometimes the second. I always preferred it in this slot, the penultimate song of the first set before a rocking Weir song to close." - David Lemieux

You know it man! Unfortunately I never got to see him live. In 95 I was just "coming of age" but listening to him in the grateful dead and his "Jerry Garcia band" makes me think I kinda know him. I have never thought that about any other musician! He was so generous and very connected to his fans!

I'm 28 years old and there's never been a musical performance by any band, visually, or audibly that captivated me quite like the Dead. The whirlwind of harmonics, the history, the truth behind the lyrics. Hell my dogs name is Barlow. This song means the world to me. Jerry was a healer and it took it all out of him unfortunately. A true gentleman If you ask me. Obviously I've never seen him perform, but cherish every bit that people were able to capture for years to come. My kids will be Heads. Just so grateful to have witnessed The Dead, Furthur, and even Dead and Co. Inspiration move me Brightly.

@@matthewparkerdixon In '93 Jerry was once again very exploratory, especially with the new guitar, Lightning Bolt. His voice was getting super soulful, and the band's vibe was getting darker in an interesting way. Also some really beautifully layered soundboard mixes that provided such a different feel. I get it bro, and I know true Heads get it as well...that's why the "So Many Roads" from Jerry's final show on 7/9/95 is, at least to me, his swan song brother...every performance the boys ever did was significant to me, BUT..when you watch this version, or any version of this song, NONE of them are more from his soul than the second to last song Jerry ever sang on 7/9...that's why the crowd looked so stunned, they could actually FEEL that one buddy...I can't watch that one without breaking down...god I miss him, and Brent too...take care my friend...stay Grateful! ✌💀💨🎸⚡🎹🌹🎙🍄🎶

Quintessential Jerry - this may be my favorite Dead song.
It carries and showcases his emotion so well, at a time in the band's life that he was literally sacrificing his own life for the music, trapped on the wheel, just looking for a way home (out) but unable to find one because you can't jump off a moving train.
Funny how much you can love a guy you never met.
I like this version, since its a tad more upbeat than 7/9/95, but I love that one for the never ending end - I wasn't there, and have only seen it on video, but pretty sure we were witness to Jerry having a straight-up conversation direct with god and that he knew (maybe subconsciously only) that he was done.
    We will survive!

I've been telling people far and wide this is my favorite So Many Roads since '95 when I got it on cassette. I was at Soldier Field '95 and still think this one blows it away.

Heart breaking to see this. 51 going on 70, and the crowd hoping he could get through his songs.
