  • Grateful Dead - This is one of the monumental Jerry ballads from the later years. Enjoy this one folks... it will definitely ease your soul. Anyone who knows Jerry's music will understand what this song meant to him. An affirmation and definition of his life and travels.
This particular show was one of the highlights of my Dead touring days, easily one of the more inspired nights Jerry's final years in my opinion. Thank you Jerry for being here, although for not nearly long enough.

So Many Roads is one of those songs that could literally make a person shed several tears. For as many struggles; as well as moments of glory, Jerry represented the average American citizen. Jerry will always be missed, and for those who never opened their minds and hearts to this music, its too bad they missed so much!

Guys, the beauty of it IS HIS WEAK VOCALS, FORGETTING THE WORDS, get it? He is sick, BUT HE CAN'T STOP PLAYING!!. Moron saying it isn't good, you are not looking at it the right way. You can see his humanity. Bob has to start sing the line, "Wind inside, wind out side, dangling the window blind" in order to remind Jerry of what verse is coming. He knew Jerry would forgt. You can hear the weakness in his voice, but he is like some incredibly delicate angel, his voice break and out f breath. It's darn near the most heartbreaking and beautiful thing I have ever heard. No, the weaknes, forgetfulness, it shows his humanity, his life, his death, THAT'S WHY it's awesome and haunting. See it the right way, please.

This performance has something truly magical to it... Jerry’s 6 string confession on the emotional/physical reality of near nonstop decades on the road + a beautiful, sad, and deeply reflective lyrical journey , some of the most transcendent, raw, and expressive soloing I’ve ever heard hitting so perfectly, flowing in perfect contrast to the backing, and negating the few minor lyrical mumbles..
It’s always conveyed a very strange blend of induced depression from witnessing a genius wasting away, yet mixed with immeasurable respect for the artists soul still shining through to tell the story of all the roads he’s traveled, searching for one to bring him one. To ease his soul..
As sad as it is hearing him mumble through and forget a few lines, it just really further exemplifies the authenticity and natural artistic depth involved.. Just over a year later he would be gone, age 53, succumbing to addictions, poor health/habits, heartbreakingly passing during a long overdue stay at a drug rehab center
There’s a later live ‘95 version of “So Many Roads’, prob the last time Jerry played it.. but it didn’t do much for me ... 1994

Of all the things I have gained and then lost in this life, I was most surprised at how much it hurt when we lost Jerry. He will forever live in my heart.

Doesn't seem possible that it was 19 years ago that we lost Jerry. I miss him more now than then.

It looks like Jerry reached deep down for this one. What a treat it was to see the Dead and the many incarnations of the Jerry Garcia Band. Thanks Jerry.

grateful dead... either you get it or you don't. i'm one of the lucky ones who do. so much good music they left us with... they new it was special a long time ago. they took the time from the very beginning to master how to record their shows. now we have access to more of our favorite band than any other band out there. it's pretty amazing i think with all the file-trading going on today... there are alot of new people being turned on to this music.

Jerry's haunting riffs from Rosebud echo still.
So many roads to get to the wonderful shows I shared with so many others over the years.
This ballad is as good as it was in 1992 when Jerry first played it in Oakland.
"From the High road to the low, so many roads I know.." Memories forever.

I grew up with original hippies, and I have to tell you, nothing feels like home like the soft warm velvet sandpaper of the dead on a summer night. Jerry, you might be dead, but we are always grateful.

No, but we can relive the magic every day by remembering the beauty of those moments in time when life was different. Being at shows, meeting friends and being accepted as someone seeking the peace and wonderment of Dead space and time and Jerry's guitar singing to us the songs we all know so well. Jerry's spirit lives on through his music.
Jerry is not dead. His gifts to all of us keep the flame of his life burning brightly inside us all.
******* Don't let that flame go out !

This is the last show from Las Vegas, how true about the words, just hits you like a ton of steel. I am glad to have soo many memories of the boys from the start to the end. Never too old to hear, listen and enjoy. Thanks Jerry, you weren't the best at what you did you were the only one to do what you did.

Im a complete Dead Head without ever seen an actual "Grateful Dead" show. Im a Dead Head born and raised and have seen multiple post Jerry line ups. Everyday the fact that I will never see Jerry and never get to experience what it was like back in the day brings me down. Tears streaming down my face right now. I miss Jerry and I never even saw him...

The Dead at the Garden was magic...makes the hair stand up on end...I was a high school teenager during these last few years and although disappointed I hadn’t been older to experience more, I thank God I was old enough to get a good enough taste of live Jerry, the Dead, and the scene to help ease my soul through all my remaining days...
