    I cut the cord over 20 years ago. I decided that I purchased my TV and I wasn't going to pay to watch it. SMART TV's made the difference. I have ROKU with many channels that are FREE...I don't mind the commercials. As a retired person It's worth it to me, and I save a lot of money. Thanks for all the info you share with us.🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽

    I watch Tubi pretty regularly. They just changed their logo and it certainly appears they have added more commercial interruptions than they had even a few months ago.

    • @drcat1313
      @drcat1313 2 месяца назад

      New logo sucks. There are plenty of ways around the commercials. Ublock origin actually works on PC. Roku just hit the 30 seconds ahead button on Roku then go back. You can also move the bar on PC. There is one on fire stick too.
      Keep in mind the first commercial ad has to be seen because it's part of the video loading. So no way around but after you can skip the commercials.

    I don't watch anything that is ad-supported unless I can skip through the ads DVR-style, haven't done so ever since my first Tivo. I'd rather pay for my TV watching than have to sit through endless ads. If you have noticed, the "spot load" on ad-supported channels has more than doubled since the days when six, 2-minute/hour was the standard. Now, it's nearly doubled, in some cases even exceeded, that standard. I'm seeing runtimes of some hour-long shows being at less than 40-minutes now.

      A distinction should be made between the live channels and on-demand content. In my experience, the on-demand content has fewer commercials, sometimes zero, and this is something I've observed on multiple free services.

      That's why I was sorry when they stopped manufacturing VCRs I should have bought more of them when they were on sale in 2007 you could record a show and fast-forward through the commercials

    • @JKVisFX

      @@dampergoldenrod4156 In the VCR days, my last VCR was an S-VHS deck. The quality of the picture was significantly improved. That was the last time I used half-inch, analog videotape for anything at home. After that, it was TiVo which I promptly upgraded the internal hard drive to the largest hard drive that was available at the time, 2TB I think it was. Now I am running a 96TB across 8, 12TB drives disk array in a thunderbolt 3 case to handle 4, 6, and 8k video.

    I have Roku now for a few years but hadn't fooled much with the live TV channels until recently, including those on Pluto and tubi. I'm now browsing them more often lately. There is a lot of TV programming I didn't watch when it first came out (series, movies, what have you). I've caught most of Hannibal, Westworld, Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad here lately. I caught all these "accidentally" when browsing. I've not come across any schedules to let you know much ahead of time, other than the ads these channels play, since I sure don't pay a lot of attention to those or write anything down. I guess it's a small price for getting these freebies. OTA-wise, I like Charge, Comet, My TV, and a few others, though it seems the programming can change on these also.

    We cut our cord many years ago using an early gen ROKU Ultra. That died a few years ago, so we replaced it with a new unit that ROKU Support swapped out at no charge. Recently we bought the latest gen Ultra, which is great, picture and all, BUT for whatever reason, I have issues with lip sync that drove me nuts! No matter what I tried, including reaching out to ROKU Support, it persisted. So, after much frustration, I tried using the apps on my Hisense U8G and suddenly...no more lip sync issues. Now, as much as I liked using ROKU, I only use the U8G, which gives me everything I need. In this day and age of digital processing, lip syncing should NEVER be an issue. The timing codes of the audio/video should ALWAYS line up, in my way of thinking. What am I missing?
