I remember when all the classic cartoons moved were on CARTOON NETWORK, the only problem was by the time my old cable provider picked the cartoon network, ALL were gone and had moved to BOOMERANG. The CARTOON NETWORK had started producing their OWN cartoons. I never got either one cause BOTH cost extra, and most likely still do. No longer have cable, and just cancelled a streaming service with my current cable provider. BOONERANG dropped ALL the classic cartoons and starting showing reruns of their own cartoons. THIS IS MY KIND OF CARTOON NETWORK! 😉😁

The news of MeTV's viewership and ratings for its classic theatrical cartoon block, which is astronomical, already to the point that it forces CBS' hand and it plans to return to SatAM cartoons(delayed in 2023, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike). Chances are, both ABC and NBC will eventually follow suit. Of course, the CTA of 1990 will have to undergo significant reform. It's really time for the broadcast networks to return to SatAM cartoons, this time for keeps!!!

    • @Miqbtn
      @Miqbtn 6 месяцев назад +3

I wish that could happen but the problem with that is the FCC has made it very impossible for the broadcast networks to even try to program any SatAM cartoons unless their educational. And also broadcast are so cheap nowadays they rather air more news than air Cartoons. It's sad but it is what is it.

As a 70 year old kid, I sometimes use to have flashbacks of when cartoons were often hilarious and meaningful. I often wondered where all those cartoons ended up an that if they ended up in the trash I would find them and shared them with this generation of kids. I recall once, about 15 to twenty years ago, I was happy because I just happened to come across an episode of the 'Munsters,' and I was elated! So I asked a few of my nephews to come and watch it with me so they could catch a glimpse of what great TV used to be like when I was young. I saw them restlessly squirming in their seats as they watched me bust up laughing to what they viewed as 'stupid'. When it was over, I asked them, as I smiled from ear to ear, what they thought of the show. The eldest of my nephews commented, "That was stupid and boring!" While another one commented,, "You found that funny?" My smile quickly turned from a smile to a frown,as I answered, "Guys, that there is what we called wholesome and clean entertainment!" All I can say is kudos to MeTV for bringing back ouc classic cartoons!

This is a channel you Americans NEED! With all this I'm hearing about kids TV having less of a presence on free TV in the US (the FCC's E/I requirements are mostly to blame, but I also blame Spectrum for letting their late 2010s KidsClick block die just like that, and whoever bought Qubo allowing that channel to die in 2021)!
Here in Britain, while cable and satellite was the best option for kids TV in the 90s and 2000s, and still is today, those who couldn't afford cable and satellite still had access to an array of kids programming in the late 90s and early 2000s!
The BBC, as part of their Children's BBC block (renamed CBBC later into the 90s) aired Rugrats and The Wild Thornberries
ITV, as part of their Citv block, aired Hey Arnold! and Cow & Chicken
Channel 4, as part of their teen-skewing T4 block, aired Johnny Bravo and CatDog
The BBC launched 2 dedicated kids channels of their own on the virgining digital terrestrial format, CBeebies and a dedicated CBBC channel, in 2002, both are still airing today, but ITV didn't throw their hat in the ring until 2006 when they FINALLY gave Citv its own channel 5 years after they planned to do so!
Sadly, a growing number of broadcasters here in Britain, especially the big four, are making a transition to online-only broadcasting! Just recently a subscription-free streaming TV service called Freely launched, which you can watch if you have one of Hisense's newest tellies, but this shuts out those who can't afford home broadband, especially in this worsening Cost of Living Crisis!
Kids programming is suffering especially, with ITV having closed the Citv channel last year, moving almost all their kids programming to their ITVX streaming service! Way to shut out children who either don't know how to use the internet or whose houses don't have internet! In March, Narrative moved their Tiny Pop preschool channel online only, another kick in the nuts for families without internet!
MeTV Toons is a channel I REALLY wish we had here in Britain, I haven't been so excited over a channel's range of programming in its infancy since Pop, still a year or two old at the time, in 2004 had DiC cartoons like Sonic The Hedgehog, Bump in The Night, the 2 post-Super Show Mario cartoons, the American Dennis The Menace and (not a product of DiC but still) Nelvana show Stickin' Around! (That one aired on Nickelodeon over here when it was new)
I feel more needs to be done to keep our favorite cartoons easily available for anyone who wants to watch them! Do you really want to be restricted to what's on the streaming services you can afford to subscribe to? Do you really want to be unable to record shows to preserve for years to come?
More importantly, with all this Digital ID, always online and other horrors, do you want a future where you HAVE TO have internet and a smartphone to do ANYTHING in life?
    Didn't think so!
With AI getting into more of our devices, I'm planning to (once I get its capacitors replaced) have my Neo Geo Pocket be my main alarm clock again and I'm planning to rebuild my CD collection, so AI can't get in the way of my morning routine or listening!
I miss the days when tech was so user friendly that almost anyone could use it! Would you rather have a TV you can set up as fast as you can unbox it, or one you can only get working if you enter a wifi password you may or may not remember off by heart?

That’s fantastic! I specifically know a large group of children who have been watching “Josie and the Pussycats” and are in love with it. There’s an erroneous assumption that “modern children” cannot or won’t appreciate classic children’s programming-which is absolute nonsense.
There are no “modern children,” there are simply children. And currently there’s very little decent children’s programming available to them.
I love sharing my DVD/Blu-ray collection of Hanna-Barbara and Filmation toons with “modern” kids-and their only reaction is to demand more. Several have asked, “why don’t they make cool shows like this now?”
Good question. I can only assume that Hollywood doesn’t want to. They are too obsessed trying to appeal to that mythical “modern audience” that doesn’t exist and ignoring the real one that does (because they hate them).
MeTV openly loves their audience. They get it. And oh by the way some of this same group of kids I mentioned have talked about watching MeTV and AntennaTV with their families and enjoying classic shows like “Hazel.” I kid you not.
But that can’t be possible. “Modern” kids wouldn’t enjoy such things, right?

Mr. Sabin, this is such great news! I'm really looking forward to watching your lineup.
Something I'd absolutely love to see is curated classic commercials to go with your lineup.
Watching Saturday Morning Cartoons is like going back in a time machine to our childhoods. This feeling is quickly squashed when a commercial for a law firm hoping to find the dead and dying Camp Lejeune water drinkers pops on.
Give us commercials for breakfast cereals and toys! Give us School House Rock! I want to Hanker for a Hunk of Cheese!
There is a HUGE market for classic commercials. Many of these products are still sold today and I'd absolutely buy something that brought back these wonderful childhood memories via Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Great interview! The classic cartoon channel will be a welcome addition. Weigel purchased the local station that was airing MeTV here in Middle Tennessee, when the original owners didn't have the funds to hire a technical staff to install and maintain a new transmitter and antennas during the FCC repack. The original tower wasn't tall enough to adequately cover the Middle Tennessee area, so Weigel rented transmitter and tower space at a much better facility, and moved the new transmitter and antenna to the new facilities. I believe Weigel sold the old transmitter site to a Middle Tennessee FM station.

This will be awesome... My favorite day when I was a child was Saturday morning and now we get those same wholesome cartoons again... It's better than Christmas.. It's Saturday morning all day everyday. 🎉🎉🎉

Wish ME TV..would have a little variety on their other channel...they have run Mash and Andy Griffith in the ground...showing them over and over...for years and years

Agreed. I wish they would at least flip some scheduling once in awhile so that morning shows would be on in the evening, etc.

They need to give Hogan's Heroes a rest and maybe replace it with Dallas, can't get enough of Jr Ewing.Early seasons are the best.

I did hear of this! Honestly this is for the best since Qubo got shut down by Scripps, and children are woefully underserved on TV. When I mean woefully underserved....on commercial broadcasting they only get 3 hours a weekend. This is a huge boon, and I hope this takes off everywhere. That is, there's way too much stuff even on Daytime TV that's TV-PG that's not appropriate for kids. Plus us adults who used to watch before/after school toons will love it too for nostalgia.

I hope they show the "Animaniacs " from Warner Brothers. I have all three characters as stuffed plush toys sitting on my computer.

Since Hulu did the reboot, they might be there, if MeTV doesn't show them.

I'm absolutely thrilled to hear this! My siblings and I grew up in the 70s watching all of these cartoons. Can't wait!
I'd love to see some old Battle of the Planets / G-Force episodes as well.
Thank you MeTv and Antenna Man! 👍
