Well I can see why the rest of the cast would be ANNOYED that the interviewer focused on Emma Watson. Yes, Emma is star but the rest of the kids in this movie worked hard too. This is a huge opportunity for the rest of the cast it is their first shot of fame, getting to go to Cannes, getting media interviews, I hope they enjoy this time.

Actually Emma has said herself that her character is definitely not the lead role. And if you bother to watch any other interviews with Claire Julien in them she's actually very professional and well-spoken,

Claire didn't mean "geek" as a bad thing, but "geek" as in "huge fan". Like people on tumblr (and i'm one of them), for example, who have blogs dedicated to celebrities, books, tv shows etc. People who go farther then just randomly liking something.

Taissa is so adorable
but emma's not the lead - she's an amazing actress, but discrediting these actors because they seem unintelligent in an interview is unfair. watch the movie, the parts they play (especially Isreal and Katie's parts) are complex and dark, and the actors play them very well. Emma, of course, is amazing, but she is not the lead, and her characters depth is not as highly displayed through the film as some of the others.

don't you see? sophia coppola hired them because their actual personalities fit the roles of the characters, and she hired Emma Watson, an extremely dedicated talented actress for the lead role to imitate the rest of them. at 2:46 when the interviewer brings up Emma watch how quickly their attitude changes, how fake and envious the blonde girl reacts

what are you talking about? Emma wasn't the main character! They hired Emma to get the movie publicity. These people are up and coming actors. The male actor was AMAZING in this movie. They all were. Just because they aren't trained as well as Emma is to do interviews doesn't mean they are of any less value than she is.

I agree with you completely except for the fact you said everyone "can relate to it" I'm pretty sure no one can relate to casting spells, flying on broomsticks, and just being a wizard in general. And she obviously wasn't trying to offend anyone, I think it just came out the wrong way.

Okay, I completely understand where you are coming from. I guess what I was trying to say was that the main concepts of Harry Potter aren't relatable (meaning the magical parts). However, the whole friendship and hardship aspects of Harry Potter I'm sure we all can relate to, but then again we could say that almost every movie has relatable aspects to it.
She's not talking about reading in general, but about the Bling Ring books. Cause they're books...

Sorry to budge in here, and I don't want to come off in a negative way at all. And I apologize if I do, but I agree with HiitGirly because Harry Potter isn't all about the magic. It's about friendship, family, and the struggles of dealing with death and hardships. Which everyone can certainly relate to.

Don't question whether or not I understood the point of the series, because 1. I have read the books 2. I have seen the movies and 3. I have been to the Warner Brother's Studio in London where they filmed the movies. My point of the comment was to merely say that I personally don't think it's that relatable and that she wasn't trying to offend anyone. But we're all entitled to our opinions aren't we.

I disagree the male actor was awful and couldn't hold up the film to save his life. Emma Watson, Chang, and Verminga was the most entertaining one in the film.
