@Richard Kelbe you gotta stop fighting the urge and try to get rid of that urge by finding a way to improve your wellbeing. you can't live life miserably you can find a way don't let your mind tell you there isn't. I found a way and you can too I believe in you brotha
Anthony really called it with the korean take over. "Anytime now" he said. In the age of k-pop, k-beauty, k-food and Samsung! Korea is a cultural power house right now.
1:50 "...the most important component. God wants you to eat this, Anderson." 3:16 "(about drinking alot in Korea) ...one sort of has to." I'm Korean, and seriously, Anthony Bourdain really captured Korean culture really well. Like, even the way he makes budaechige (부대찌개) is pretty good.
I loved Anthony Bourdain for so many reasons. But chief among them was how he so successfully taught people how to enjoy food from all over the world, in ways they never thought possible. In reality, he was one of the greatest goodwill ambassadeurs of all time. How many MILLIONS of people did he reach and effect during his brief lifetime?? His presence was so powerful and full of life, that I still cannot come to grips with the fact that he's gone. I'm just glad that we have his videos to remember him by. DAMN, I miss him :(
Anthony Bourdain is the man. He truly knows great taste. Watched many of his shows and he tells everything as it is. Oh and Cooper's gotta workout his triceps just a tad bit more
Missing Anthony as i watch his reruns of the layover etc - wickedly droll & dark sense of humor , which is my favorite. Anderson was lucky to have AB as a friend , I’m quite jealous ! RIP AB !
Rewatching every single video of Anthony Bourdain. I watched his shows ever since I was 8, and read his books when I started working. RIP. I miss him: being amazed at asian food, his Gonzo-esque way of journalism and writing, everything.
I just had this yesterday for the first time in a long while, like 2-3 years.. and in spite of the fact that i grew up with this thing and this have been one of my favorite things to eat for a long time and lots and lots of memories.. honestly the first thing that came to mind was this video.. the impact, not only as a chef but as a human being, (even despite the fact i never knew him personally lol) is monumental to me.. Anthony you are dearly missed..
Question, what is he making in the pot, is it just like a stock for the noodles or something, like frying them all together and just putting the juice on the noodles to eat?
I'm so proud of Anderson, considering he's an extremely picky eater. And by picky I mean a guy who won't put sauce on his pasta b/c it contains "flavor".
i cant imagine what the menu would be if cooper and pence have dinner together. probably fat free mayo (vegan mayo for cooper) pasta with a sprinkle of almond flour and hard boiled water.
I know someone below said Bourdain is an honorary Korean. Yes. Yes he is. Rest in peace my friend, we the Koreans will never forget how you appreciated our cuisine.
They'd work well as a tandem, anthony is the adventurous one anderson the meek and scared one, good dynamic, would love to see them both in the streets of punjab and anderson clutching anthony like a scared girl
He probably added it during the several cuts since it does not need a lot of time to cook. but yea it is kinda random to see a pan of meat go on the stovetop and then somehow it magically turned into noodles
"hitting the bong with Blitzer..." LOL Love how he takes a couple of bites and just before the fade-out drops the plate and grabs his glass of scotch... classic.
Rest in peace..god...I watched so many times of No Reservations, Lisbon one....and Korean one......will miss...his voice. now, I am doing a food tour...like he infleneced me ..sad..
It's not that he isn't worldy, he's just very picky with food no matter what country it's from. You should watch his food intervention segments where he talks about how he eats the same thing everyday months at a time. That's why Anthony has been doing so many food trials with him.
This is why I love Bourdain, Rest In Peace. He knows Cooper by now (CNN compatriots and all) and his lack of cuisine interest, gets him to agree on a bit like they showed; and makes it great TV and a genuine “I’ll show you something that will raise your eyebrows in disgust, yet when it when it’s done you’ll thank me” moment. That’s AB in a nutshell, and kudos to Cooper for going outside his comfort zone and enjoying the moment...and the food!!
+O Kay It's ok. I get it too and I'm Korean. It's no problem cause I go with gangster ass Vietnamese and Chinese friends and they get all scared to talk shit
O Kay I'm Korean and I find Koreans rude too. It's just how Koreans are. But Koreans and other Asians don't go to Asian restaurants for good service. They go for good food.
The silver fox meets the silver grey. Tony's vocab is just unreal. Right when I think I know what he's gonna say, he says "aspersions." Be honest, you had no idea what that meant until you googled it just now.
Damn I am addicted to Bourdain's videos but watching them makes me feel sad :( I should be happy for a life well lived though. The guy is an inspiration and a hero to me.
It is called "Budaechigei" 부대찌개 created by Korean people who worked near U. S. Army bases in S.Korea. This dish is well loved by many Koreans with soju drinks.RIP Anthony. We miss you.
No its the last bit that all koreans put into this dish that the video fails to show. Its just the way this dish is made authentically. Everything goes into it. So Ramen of course. No foul here
As stupidkitty says, the ramen was probably added in last, when the water started boiling, as ramen is a core component of army stew. I'm pretty sure they were eating the meal they were prepping.
This is only my favorite Korean dish, and there are many great ones to chose from, but also one of my favorite stews/soups... If you can't get it at a Korean restaurant, then you can easily make it from scratch... but quality kimchi made be the toughest to source...
I didn't know Anthony took a video like this before , I always thought he was used to take video introduced Micherin stars restaurant . Thanks RIP Man..
"I've done good in this world."
Yes. Yes, you have. RIP Anthony Bourdain. You will be missed by so many.
He's so self-reflective and concious, i can't help but feel like suicide would be terrifying for him. What the hell happened in that head?
I was going to make the same comment!

I am honored that Mr. Bourdain made this dish here. You will be missed. Lots of love from a Korean fan.

Hello, my name is Anderson Cooper, enjoy my triceps.

I love him botching opening the spam with a tab and having to use a can opener
lol nice catch
That exact same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago so I feel for him
Lol they really focus on his hands with the tab
Rookie mistake tbh... loljp
I saw that I didn't think anybody else did
I love how Anthony Bourdain has totally fallen in love with Korea XD Love the episode of him in Korea on Parts Unknown and No Reservations.
+Kara De I think he is in love with most Asian countries, Vietnam in particular
I loved the No Reservations episode. He got drunk and did karaoke.
lawful good meets chaotic good

My heart is broken. I love you Anthony, you're one of my heroes... my husband is korean, this food is truly magical, made by the master
I loved this stew. I only had it once, but I would love to have it again.
you have to have the real one. im native korean dwelling in US for over a decade. never had any good army stew here.
A.C... this guy has covered, wars, acts of terrorism, Earthquake and famines fearlessly, competently, bravely... but he's afraid of pickled cabbage!
You have to wonder what he would be eating when he went abroad to cover a story.
He probably ate pickled cabbage constantly in war zone so much that he has been developing PTSD over pickled cabbage
A.C is an actor reading a script, on location in a bubble, trailer always at the ready.
Damn miss this guy... someone that world needs rightnow. Brining people and cultures together... good one gone too soon...
Tommy Choi a great man that left the planet too early.
i love anthony Bourdain's program for many years...he's so classy and genuinely a foodie and drinker!

True true! Al dente, baby
This made me literally laugh out loud. I watched the whole video and I thought I was going crazy as to how noodles came out of it.
they cut out a lot of the ingredients in the editing. You can't have good Budae Jigae without some good fresh anchovy, seaweed, mushroom broth.
