Pariston is an insanely intriguing character. You can just tell how insanely dangerous the guy is because of his scheming, he doesnt even need to use his nen (that we can tell, at least) to be dangerous. I cant wait to see more of him.
After 20 years following this great piece of work of a franchise (i was first introduced to it via anime), Pariston and Beyond Netero really leave me speechless when it comes to plot s importance within all along, stellar and deeply masterful written, to the point that Chrollo, Gon, Hisoka, Kurapika, Komugi, Meruem, and even Ging, and every previous arc mean so much less than it meant back in the day, personally. Pariston and Beyond are that quite engaging and intriguing. Togashi really stepped up his game with those key characters. A massive stand middle finger to chimera ant and York new arcs, in terms of potential. Honorable mention goes to Morena, her panels and coloured chapter artworks and chapter ending panels are the most unsettling thing HxH has brought to the public so far, imo. If this shit can go full circle, it's gonna be phucking sick, succession war tied to dark continent. My man, Radman. Thanks for this very detailed vid on such a suggesting theory.
Pariston responds to love with malicious acts. We see Kurapika nurse Sheila's broken leg multiple times. It makes sense that Pariston/Sheila would want Kurapika to experience the pain of losing his entire clan

Pariston/shiela has the ability to shift into an opposite persona and gender. Shiela was a fragile girl then shift into pariston a heartless man. To have a name for himself and established a relationship on the underground. I think She does this in order gather intels. Including Sarassa's death. I thought of another parallel between Sheila and Pariston: just like Sheila (the rat-snake) tempted Kurapika to venture out of paradise (so to speak), Pariston could be say to havr tempted the whole "world" to leave their known boundaries and venture to the outside of the Dark Continent (by working closely with Beyond Netero, if I remember correctly).
I also feel it's easy to forget that pariston's appearance could sinply be a nen ability that she has active permanently. As a woman her stature would likely be smaller than that of the pariston we know, allowing an ability similar to texture surprise to easily allow her to disguise herself as a man. Also, considering hisoka's personality test in regards to nen, having an ability like that would not be out of the question for a transmuter in the least, which is my best guess as to pariston/shelia's nen affinity.
7:50 Neferpitou has NEVER been refered to as male in Japanese. Pitou is always referred to using gender neutral pronouns, the use of strictly masculine pronouns is only in the English translation. The official translator has said that when translating she first assumed Pitou was a boy, but now thinks otherwise.

Look, before I start I just want to say that I personally agree with this theory. I sincerely believe that there is a high chance Sheila and Pariston are related (as in, connected in some way, not necesarrily in a biological way) if not the same person. Pariston being transgender is an idea I like a whole lot, I've never thought about it myself, but I believe that if it is true it would tie it all really nicely I also like the way you deduced Pariston's (possible) ability, I think it's a really smart way to reach a reasonable conclusion using the internal logic of manga as a storytelling medium Also mentioning that Pariston is stated to be politically left does help the transgender part of the theory Sheila and the doll's outfits being almost identical is also a good point and a believeable way to tie the two characters together in a reasonable manner I agree with the Heil-ly section, none of it goes beyond the realm of possibility which makes it a valid theory I also agree with the one eye thing, it's used in a lot of manga I really like the Kurta Clan - Garden of Eden parallel, it makes sense and it adds to the theory in a positive way That being said... Some of the "evidence" presented in the video are extremely forced connections that might make sense at a surface level, but when you really think about it they don't hold up. I do think that Sheila could be Pariston, but not for any of the reasons presented in the video lol. I mean, yeah, it wouldn't be strange for Togashi to have a trans character because he's done it before, that is enough reason to believe that the theory could be possible, you don't even need to try to connect *all* gender nonconforming characters together to support the claim. It's just not necessary and in all honesty it doesn't make sense, it just feels forced. The whole dolls thingy also feels too forced, I just can't get behind it. What it felt like a shameless stretch to me was the Sheila - Shera connection (and all the deductions that were reached thanks to it), because where did that come from? Lol, I suppose you can say that Paris Hilton is a singer, but that's not the main thing she's known for. When you think of Paris Hilton you immediately think that she's a heiress or a rich party girl, not a singer. It's too convoluted, the same with the Silent Majority deduction. But as of now I don't think we have any solid canon evidence to support either claim of the Pariston-Sheila theory, all we have are speculations.
You're totally correct. A lot of the evidence is based on correlations rather than connections. Something being similar in a manga that has gone on for over 20 years is to be expected and cannot be used formulate complex theories. And number theories are common in Japanese manga but not always to the extent of chapter releases as that is logistically very difficult. Like that fake troupe member being connected to Hisoka and Pariston is a wild stretch. The theory in of itself is one that might not be fully set up yet but is highly plausible and you can't just make up connections because of the high plausibility of the theory as then you muddle the actual legitimate evidence.
The chains kurapika has towards the spiders could be considered control(puppet/marionette). Kites original nen ability could be considered some form of puppet/marionette also since it was like a toy with different abilities.

Ok ok ok I got a theory: Sheila and Pariston are one in the same. When chrollo became consumed in evil due to the events in meteor city; Sarasa’s death and eventual proof of her death in “art”. Sheila believes that chrollo and the rest of the troupe betrayed Sarasa memory and finds chrollo responsible for her death. With years of planning she plans the Kurta massacre, and arranges Kurapika to be Chrollo’s killer. Revealing she planned everything and made the troupe do exactly what was done to them, bringing everything full ⭕️. The kurtas were framed and now beg for Sarasa forgiveness, for the meteor city saying: we accept everything, but don’t take anything from us. Chrollo took everything away from Sheila.
I genuinely just thought they where related fraternal siblings perhaps but well the family abandoned Sheila due to her physical weakness and because she was a woman and they chose to keep pariston since male heir stuff ,tho how rich families are well he likely didn't get much attention and is the reason he is described on how he acts which would explain the eye similarity and being so similar and at the time trans people weren't as prevalent when Pariston was introduced it nothing explains how Sheila ended up in meteor city
Trans people were always prevalent in human history… Also there was a trans character in yuyuhakosho. It was handled extremely poorly, but it kinda makes sense as it was through a lens of transmedicalism. Which was a more acceptable lens of perspective back then.

I feel that also shows how the 4th prince is linked to death and misfortune as he is satanic. but also the former spider who was number 4 is the same. I know there is a movie about the former fourth member but still, it is interesting to think about Pariston who was the little girl in meteor city, he hurts those he loves meaning he was the reason the girl was killed and ignited why the spiders were formed so maybe the spiders are their for Pariston for being the RAT(his zodiac sign) who gave chrollo's friend up, he was the rat of the spiders and Hisoka mimicked a similar betrayal in york new city by working with Kurapika. so pariton was the girl and loved his friend like Chrollo but because of that got her killed and tortured, after this he sent the spiders down a spiral and caused them to hunt down her killers, maybe Chrollo figured this out and is after Pariston as he mentioned they were their for another reason beside's hisoka. Does anyone have thoughts on this and how it backs up this theory?
I've always been under the Impression that Killua's Sister identifies the way she does because of the other half. If you always existed with half of you being feminine, it would definitely impart onto a developing mind. I never felt like the author was making a message or impression, just in 30 years when we get chapter 405 we'll find out 'Something' is a female dark continent creature and everything in the past will fall into place like good foreshadowing does.

Kurapika the rat guarding 14th Prince Woble, and previous rat was the 13th Chairman(Pariston Hill).
Man, the Hunter X Hunter theories and the overall concepts and setting of the series itself are just so good, why can't Togashi just please have someone else handle the art or something while he does the writing so the series can stop going on hiatus constantly. Remember, there was an article upon Sarasa's death..Shiela was not really affected and never did join Chrollo on his plan with the other spider for their vengeance. Shiela on her youth was aware about the agreement of the elders and mafia that in return of meteor city's protection, they should offer young ones to the mafia and thats where the Hei-ley family were involved..the prince was a psychopath and finds pleasure on killing specially the young ones.
it seems outside of the realm of possibility considering togashi's past writing style. He leaves these sorts of things to subvert our expectations, not follow through with them. but its also what I love about HxH. we can have all sorts of theories like this because how expansive/detailed the story is. great video

if this is true i kind of hope its never revealed. but i do hope it gets developed further. if that makes sense. one of the things i think is so intoxicating abt hxh is that the world always feels so much larger than the manga itself. Especially back when the election arc was the last arc we had. It just felt like togashi was documenting a real world that we were only ever getting to see 1% of. I like the idea of him leaving all these clues that we can piece together and interpret for ourselves and i think if every last detail ends up getting explained by the time the manga ends itll get rid of some of that magic.

interesting stuff. just beware of one pitfall- some of these nuances can materialize or disappear based on how things are translated. also one complicating factor with the whole gender thing is that it’s relatively easy to have discussion/conversation in Japanese without using gender pronouns at all.

My idea was that Pariston is actually a man to start with Being a manipulator, pariston knew that being a girl to a group of men (chrollo, uvogin, phinks ....) is a free pass and is a common idea that girls are likely to be helped rather than boys.
there's one thing I don't understand: if Pariston is not in the black whale, then how can the "silent majority" doll be his? Also how would that doll being Pariston's support the Pariston = Sheila theory at all?
The timing of this video is unfortunate, despite it being a good video. This theory has been around a while and had much more room for speculation until recently, imo. Since the last 2 chapters revealed Sheila and her origins, it starts to feel less likely, in theory, though maybe thats why its perfect timing... im not sure. She was one of the friends in the group with the troupe, but left during their formation rather than join. The design, name, and connections are all too convenient to ignore. It is still 'possible' that Sheila took on the image of Pariston later in life, or that he used a puppet to look like his/her formal self to manipulate the Kurta, but that requires many leaps that we dont yet have good evidence for. Occam's razor would suggest we accept that Sheila is Sheila, and Pariston is Pariston, though im all for theorizing and head canons, HxH has a ton of room for head canon and theorizing. So far, though we dont have much to go on, Sheila seems different in personality and characterization than Pariston, albeit much time has passed and Pariston is deceptive ofcourse, as is crux to this theory. We dont know why she opted not to join Chrollo and his group, so theres still room to head canon that it wasnt for moral reasons or anything like that, but rather that she wanted to go her own way. She told Kurapika and Pairo that she was inspired to become a hunter by stories, specifically the D Hunter novel/epic which she gives them to read. This aligns quite well with the current origin story we are being given of the children of Meteor City, or rather, the group of friends who end up becoming the Spider, which Sheila 'mysteriously' opts out of. This is still a worthy theory for sure, albeit it relies on a lot of leaps and circumstantial logic/evidence, as most theories do. If i had to put a % on this theory atm, id say its still worth thinking about, but my confidence in this theory currently is only like... 15-20%? Its not quite as convincing to me yet as some other theories such as "chrollo had help making/marking clones v hisoka", "'pregnancy stone' gon origin", or "Beyond Netero planned/setup the CA queen". Ps, D hunter = based on the adventures of "Don"..... memes?

If Pariston’s transition was a product of post-mortem nen, then could Sheila have been the Phantom Troupe member who was killed by Silva? If that’s true, then she would’ve been able to transition into a new identity as Pariston and become a hunter without the rest of the troupe or hunter association knowing. I can’t remember if it was ever mentioned how long Pariston has been a hunter so this may or may not work with the actual timeline of the story.

I would look into the original japanese language used for some of these characters, particularly Alluka and Pitou. The term "Zoldyck brothers" instead of "siblings" is the only term that labels Alluka as male. Concealing or grouping gender of children in powerful or royal families is as old as time and is even used a couple arcs later with the "Princes". Pitou uses the term "boku" to refer to themselves, which generally can mean "young boy" but this term is also commonly used by female singers and isnt as strictly gendered as western terms, every other gendered Japanese term refers to Pitou as female and has been labelled female in out of manga material. Alot of these references are based on western translations
But no one in the Zoldyck family aside from Killua considers Alluka a family member. So it’s safe to assume they say brothers because they don’t consider her/him, whatever, a family member.
I think you may be reaching too far on an all-out "transition." I think it's more likely Pariston was always a male but was cross-dressing and going by "Sheila" because he wanted to at the time. That theory seems much more likely to me.

Beyond Netero joins the troupe temporarily or permanently as part of the deal to help set him free. And with Tserrednich already having done business with the troupe when he purchased the eyes from them, it makes sense he would be willing to do business with them once more on the Dark Continent. And with all the bad guys now United, I think it’d be the perfect time to kill off a character, maybe Ging or Kurapika? I’ve always felt like Kurapika is destined for a tragic end, especially after the Uvogin fight.
I think Imma look for some kind of magic spell to put on togashi to rejuvenate his back muscles just to show my appreciation to this amazing work of art. After 20 years following this great piece of work of a franchise (i was first introduced to it via anime), Pariston and Beyond Netero really leave me speechless when it comes to plot s importance within all along, stellar and deeply masterful written, to the point that Chrollo, Gon, Hisoka, Kurapika, Komugi, Meruem, and even Ging, and every previous arc mean so much less than it meant back in the day, personally. Pariston and Beyond are that quite engaging and intriguing. Togashi really stepped up his game with those key characters. A massive stand middle finger to chimera ant and York new arcs, in terms of potential. Honorable mention goes to Morena, her panels and coloured chapter artworks and chapter ending panels are the most unsettling thing HxH has brought to the public so far, imo. If this shit can go full circle, it's gonna be phucking sick, succession war tied to dark continent. My man, Radman. Thanks for this very detailed vid on such a suggesting theory.

I thought of another parallel between Sheila and Pariston: just like Sheila (the rat-snake) tempted Kurapika to venture out of paradise (so to speak), Pariston could be say to havr tempted the whole "world" to leave their known boundaries and venture to the outside of the Dark Continent (by working closely with Beyond Netero, if I remember correctly).
I also feel it's easy to forget that pariston's appearance could sinply be a nen ability that she has active permanently. As a woman her stature would likely be smaller than that of the pariston we know, allowing an ability similar to texture surprise to easily allow her to disguise herself as a man.
Also, considering hisoka's personality test in regards to nen, having an ability like that would not be out of the question for a transmuter in the least, which is my best guess as to pariston/shelia's nen affinity.

Look, before I start I just want to say that I personally agree with this theory. I sincerely believe that there is a high chance Sheila and Pariston are related (as in, connected in some way, not necesarrily in a biological way) if not the same person. Pariston being transgender is an idea I like a whole lot, I've never thought about it myself, but I believe that if it is true it would tie it all really nicely
I also like the way you deduced Pariston's (possible) ability, I think it's a really smart way to reach a reasonable conclusion using the internal logic of manga as a storytelling medium
Also mentioning that Pariston is stated to be politically left does help the transgender part of the theory
Sheila and the doll's outfits being almost identical is also a good point and a believeable way to tie the two characters together in a reasonable manner

A lot of the evidence is forced, reaches, or consists thematic parralels, which are not pieces of evidence, they can at most help strenghten a theory, they don't prove anything because they are too vague
Trying to tie in Pariston with other gender diverse characters and even tie them in together was a bad start because they are very spread out and different, that was forced. And if there were enough actual evidence you wouldn't even have to prove he is transgender, it would come out of the facts but unfortunately we don't have that here (nobody's fault, Pariston just have little pannel time at this point in time)
Trying to connect Pariston with the Silent Majority at this point in time is a stretch, and you know it. It's not impossible, but you could have kept it as "it's possible but not supported by evidence yet" and leave it like that. Finding out that Pariston said the words "silent" "majority" and "11" separately in another arc, in completely different circumstances doesn't prove anything

This is not hate or an attack, I really like this theory and your video and I agree with you almost entirely. It's just that, this could be better. You're a really good theorist. A big part of theory making is creating your own story, as much as we want to deny this, we start from the conclusion and work our way backwords because theories are often born from suspiciouns and vibes alone. This is not wrong, but it leads to numerous problems, like going too far with the conclusions or reaching way up the author's ass to find evidence in an attempt to prove an already decided conclusion. You are really good because you are reasonable, you keep your conclusions inside the believable scope of the story which is more than I can say about some theorists I know. But you are reaching for evidence, a lot. While you do present some facts or ideas that even if they don't necessarily prove something at least can make someone question themselves you also pull some weird shit out of thin air that breaks the credibility of the theory by making it seem more frivolous than it is. It almost made me close off the video but I'm glad I didn't, it's a good theory, it just could have done better in presentation. I'm sure you can improve on that and I'm excited to see what you'll come up with moving forward

Some of the "evidence" presented in the video are extremely forced connections that might make sense at a surface level, but when you really think about it they don't hold up. I do think that Sheila could be Pariston, but not for any of the reasons presented in the video lol. I mean, yeah, it wouldn't be strange for Togashi to have a trans character because he's done it before, that is enough reason to believe that the theory could be possible, you don't even need to try to connect *all* gender nonconforming characters together to support the claim. It's just not necessary and in all honesty it doesn't make sense, it just feels forced. The whole dolls thingy also feels too forced, I just can't get behind it.
What it felt like a shameless stretch to me was the Sheila - Shera connection (and all the deductions that were reached thanks to it), because where did that come from? Lol, I suppose you can say that Paris Hilton is a singer, but that's not the main thing she's known for. When you think of Paris Hilton you immediately think that she's a heiress or a rich party girl, not a singer. It's too convoluted, the same with the Silent Majority deduction. It just doesn't feel like a natural conclusion.

But as of now I don't think we have any solid canon evidence to support either claim of the Pariston-Sheila theory, all we have are speculations.
You're totally correct. A lot of the evidence is based on correlations rather than connections. Something being similar in a manga that has gone on for over 20 years is to be expected and cannot be used formulate complex theories. And number theories are common in Japanese manga but not always to the extent of chapter releases as that is logistically very difficult. Like that fake troupe member being connected to Hisoka and Pariston is a wild stretch. The theory in of itself is one that might not be fully set up yet but is highly plausible and you can't just make up connections because of the high plausibility of the theory as then you muddle the actual legitimate evidence.
The chains kurapika has towards the spiders could be considered control(puppet/marionette).
Kites original nen ability could be considered some form of puppet/marionette also since it was like a toy with different abilities.

Ok ok ok I got a theory: Sheila and Pariston are one in the same. When chrollo became consumed in evil due to the events in meteor city; Sarasa’s death and eventual proof of her death in “art”. Sheila believes that chrollo and the rest of the troupe betrayed Sarasa memory and finds chrollo responsible for her death. With years of planning she plans the Kurta massacre, and arranges Kurapika to be Chrollo’s killer. Revealing she planned everything and made the troupe do exactly what was done to them, bringing everything full ⭕️. The kurtas were framed and now beg for Sarasa forgiveness, for the meteor city saying: we accept everything, but don’t take anything from us. Chrollo took everything away from Sheila.
I genuinely just thought they where related fraternal siblings perhaps but well the family abandoned Sheila due to her physical weakness and because she was a woman and they chose to keep pariston since male heir stuff ,tho how rich families are well he likely didn't get much attention and is the reason he is described on how he acts which would explain the eye similarity and being so similar and at the time trans people weren't as prevalent when Pariston was introduced it nothing explains how Sheila ended up in meteor city

Man, the Hunter X Hunter theories and the overall concepts and setting of the series itself are just so good, why can't Togashi just please have someone else handle the art or something while he does the writing so the series can stop going on hiatus constantly. It is just like this series and its author don't deserve such thoughtful efforts by its fans because it isn't giving back like it should.

one of the things i think is so intoxicating abt hxh is that the world always feels so much larger than the manga itself. Especially back when the election arc was the last arc we had. It just felt like togashi was documenting a real world that we were only ever getting to see 1% of. I like the idea of him leaving all these clues that we can piece together and interpret for ourselves and i think if every last detail ends up getting explained by the time the manga ends itll get rid of some of that magic.

there's one thing I don't understand: if Pariston is not in the black whale, then how can the "silent majority" doll be his? Also how would that doll being Pariston's support the Pariston = Sheila theory at all?
The timing of this video is unfortunate, despite it being a good video. This theory has been around a while and had much more room for speculation until recently, imo. Since the last 2 chapters revealed Sheila and her origins, it starts to feel less likely, in theory, though maybe thats why its perfect timing... im not sure. She was one of the friends in the group with the troupe, but left during their formation rather than join. The design, name, and connections are all too convenient to ignore. It is still 'possible' that Sheila took on the image of Pariston later in life, or that he used a puppet to look like his/her formal self to manipulate the Kurta, but that requires many leaps that we dont yet have good evidence for. Occam's razor would suggest we accept that Sheila is Sheila, and Pariston is Pariston, though im all for theorizing and head canons, HxH has a ton of room for head canon and theorizing.
So far, though we dont have much to go on, Sheila seems different in personality and characterization than Pariston, albeit much time has passed and Pariston is deceptive ofcourse, as is crux to this theory. We dont know why she opted not to join Chrollo and his group, so theres still room to head canon that it wasnt for moral reasons or anything like that, but rather that she wanted to go her own way. She told Kurapika and Pairo that she was inspired to become a hunter by stories, specifically the D Hunter novel/epic which she gives them to read. This aligns quite well with the current origin story we are being given of the children of Meteor City, or rather, the group of friends who end up becoming the Spider, which Sheila 'mysteriously' opts out of.
This is still a worthy theory for sure, albeit it relies on a lot of leaps and circumstantial logic/evidence, as most theories do. If i had to put a % on this theory atm, id say its still worth thinking about, but my confidence in this theory currently is only like... 15-20%? Its not quite as convincing to me yet as some other theories such as "chrollo had help making/marking clones v hisoka", "'pregnancy stone' gon origin", or "Beyond Netero planned/setup the CA queen".

This is absolutely fair, in fact I pretty much agree with you on everything said! The other theories you’ve mentioned are most definitely far more compelling, but that 15-20% was more than enough for me to make this video, with Togashi no possibly is too small haha 🙏🏽

If Pariston’s transition was a product of post-mortem nen, then could Sheila have been the Phantom Troupe member who was killed by Silva? If that’s true, then she would’ve been able to transition into a new identity as Pariston and become a hunter without the rest of the troupe or hunter association knowing. I can’t remember if it was ever mentioned how long Pariston has been a hunter so this may or may not work with the actual timeline of the story.

I would look into the original japanese language used for some of these characters, particularly Alluka and Pitou. The term "Zoldyck brothers" instead of "siblings" is the only term that labels Alluka as male. Concealing or grouping gender of children in powerful or royal families is as old as time and is even used a couple arcs later with the "Princes". Pitou uses the term "boku" to refer to themselves, which generally can mean "young boy" but this term is also commonly used by female singers and isnt as strictly gendered as western terms, every other gendered Japanese term refers to Pitou as female and has been labelled female in out of manga material. Alot of these references are based on western translations
But no one in the Zoldyck family aside from Killua considers Alluka a family member. So it’s safe to assume they say brothers because they don’t consider her/him, whatever, a family member.

I think you may be reaching too far on an all-out "transition." I think it's more likely Pariston was always a male but was cross-dressing and going by "Sheila" because he wanted to at the time. That theory seems much more likely to me.

My prediction is that Pariston betrays the Hunters on the Dark Continent. And in his betrayal, he summons the phantom troupe to the Dark Continent . Beyond Netero joins the troupe temporarily or permanently as part of the deal to help set him free. And with Tserrednich already having done business with the troupe when he purchased the eyes from them, it makes sense he would be willing to do business with them once more on the Dark Continent. And with all the bad guys now United, I think it’d be the perfect time to kill off a character, maybe Ging or Kurapika? I’ve always felt like Kurapika is destined for a tragic end, especially after the Uvogin fight.
