100p that’s what it is, the dark container is a insert for the nightmares that his waking life is cuz of that fucked posture and likely mental landscape
The first calamity that came back from the dark continent was Nen itself. Much like gon and killua through at heavens arena, an expedition had their Nen nodes forcefully awoken by something on the dark continent and when they came back 500ish years ago they brought Nen back, introducing the potential for any human to become a disaster for others around them. It's interesting that so little people have healing abilities, suggesting it's far more aggression oriented.
That’s interesting fr bc most “healing” abilities don’t straight up heal either. There’s always some sort of sacrifice or drawback whereas other abilities are pretty 1 to 1.
I feel like it has alot to do with personality traits and intentions when developing a technique. I also feel like people SELF IMPOSE bad terms to their techniques as well. If people were more diligent in the rule around their nen id imagine someone like kurapika woukd have the potential to take the wolrd over. That restriction could have possibly been less severe. feel like people in this series limit themselves to A particular skill instead of attempting to learn a few more and develop potential useful techniques like healing self or others. Most people can easily make a self healing technique on purpose I feel like it's a intention thing when training. Not necessarily a restriction on nen itself. I think if there was more people who actually ACCOUNTED for having that skill under their heel then that point would be invalid
@@JEMA333the reason kurapika has the restrictions he does is that the conjured chains would be much weaker if he didn’t have such a strict set of tenants for them. with nen-conjured objects especially, though this applies to all uses of nen, having a very narrow use case makes something exponentially more powerful. think about it, with the limitations kurapika placed on himself, he can only use some of his abilities on 12 specific people. if someone like Knuckle could only use his ability on 12 specific people, it would be fucking insane, but the way his technique works would fight against that because the power of his technique is that it is equally bad for everyone who gets tagged with it. people trade use-cases for strength. nen vows are like steroids for nen users, bad side effects, but the sheer power that comes with it often far outweighs having a generally good ability that wouldn’t match them.
I think that the series just didn’t focus very much on the non-aggressive side of nen, since it is a battle Shonen at the end of the day. For a more lore-friendly theory, I think that the majority of people who become Hunters are selfish in nature and aren’t focused on helping other people, so it just so happens that the majority of nen we see is aggressive. Considering that the characters who developed unconscious nen (Neon Nostrade, Komugi) didn’t have aggressive abilities kind of reinforces that point, maybe?
I think humans were the original threat to the rest of the world. Lake Mobius is a prison disguised as a safe area. It also supresses our nen exponentially. Watch Don appear and demonstrate this by killing the Guide and eliminating the calamities from the island; with the exception of Brion and Zobai which were weapons created by ancient humans.
I have first read hunterxhunter when I was 13. thats 20 years ago. people often wonder why I am such a patient person. THEY DO NOT KNOW THE AGONY BENEATH. I WAITED OVER 15 YEARS FOR THE FIGHT BETWEEN HISOKA AND KURORO FFS
I started reading at the same time! My local library had them… but that means I not only had to wait for him to release more, but wait for which ones were in stock and read them over and over to memorize them… I love this series so much and it’s so hard to explain to people just how deep it goes when you read chapters over and over. 🥲 I’ll keep waiting and appreciate what we do get. I care more about the mangaka’s health. He’s been through so much, we are lucky to have what we do anyway. So many people are so unaware and unappreciative of how hard he worked to put out what he has. Asking him to just “give it to someone else” to finish is such a slap in the face to long time readers. Like, just wait a few years… he’s got this. Or he doesn’t. And that’s ok. It’s a gift either way.
Seeing how i just found the ultiamte cringelord, a man who has uploaded minors-sexualizing Anime-Clips in the DOZENS: yea,h your right BUT what will you DO about it? Are you all-talk and no-action? Cause i have an actual idea what to do about sexual-bullshit-content

To be fair, he has an entirely new world that he wants to show us. It'd be impossible for anybody else to draw what Togashi sees. But someone could definitely copy his style for old characters and settings. That would help him tremendously. But honestly, if we just got novels with data books, I'd be happy at this point
I think that the chimera ants specifically were probably at the bottom of the food chain in the dark continent and they were only considered powerful due to being in an environment where they became the apex predator. I feel like the 5 calamities could also follow this pattern especially for some of them, where they are almost bottom feeders or scavengers on the dark continent and are really not powerful at all compared to what exist there but they are compared to humans, but I think definitely Byron and maybe some of the others are some kind of bioweapon created either using nen or that just has nen.
That the ant are at the bottom could be very likely. As much as i remember, was it stated, that chimera ants was allready knowed by the world. But no one cared about them, because they normaly are only able to fuse with other small animals. And wouldnt be a treat. That the ant queen manage to become human sized and gave birth to humanoid ants, was something, that never happens before.
Out of all concepts for a new story line to an established manga nothing has ever been so intriguing to me quite like the Dark Continent. I hope he gets better and is able to tell the story he wants to.
Feels like the real story has just begun. Gon and killua were actually some of the worst nen users with the most boring stories compared to the characters in the world of Hunter x Hunter, and that’s not a bad thing
In support of this theory, Gon and Mito do a specific thumb-swear-oath thing where they press their thumbs against each other. Mito says it's something only whale island people do. Fast forward to killua and Silva, who do THE EXACT SAME THUMB OATH
@@BMac57 It's kind of a long story but basically ever since yu yu hakushu, he couldn't write it the way he wanted to so he kind of fell out of love with the series, he doesn't want Hunter Hunter to become the same, he knows his drawings are not the best but that's kind of the point. he wants his story to be written by him and drawn by him, I recently watched a video on the topic so maybe you could find it cuz I don't think I really explained it as well as I should, sorry i don't articulate very well sometimes.
@@BMac57 honestly speaking I wish he would make somebody to the drawings and he would just do the writing, I'm right there with him but that's not what togashi wants unfortunately.
I think there’s something to letting togahsi continue to draw. Long shot. What if they turned the quality of the artwork into an advantage? The more characters in the story we know get killed off, the “lower the quality gets”, or rather more authentic to whatever togashi can produce. This way, his artwork is portraying his story, in turn possibly increasing the number of chapters and also symbolizing the conclusion of his story. Only downside is…people(including publishers) probably wouldn’t be too accepting on the “quality”(art). Is this a (nen) condition we can live with?
@@bigk6860 I agree. I just want to know how it ends but I respect his decision n his artistic expression. Ion want him to feel like it’s being diminished
The Dark Continent aspect of Hunter X Hunter always makes me think of the Gourmet World in Toriko, and with how it's talked about in the manga, I was expecting crazy things to happen. Like I'm pretty sure the reason Killuas sister is cursed is because Zig trespassed there, (correct me if I'm wrong), and that kind of potential mysterious horror vibe would have been a great read

Would you say there is a link between the Zoldyck gate/gatekeeper design and the gatekeeper on the dark continent? Due to Zigg Zoldycks visit and return
17:44 to the end is some of the realest stuff you’ve ever said. I don’t ever comment or like videos but I had to on this. Also I currently live in your hometown.
My theory is that after zigg zoldyks and netero's expedition to dark continent, the gatekeeper made them bring back Ai. Resulting in the birth of nanika.
A couple potential issues I see with this. 1. As far as only hunters learning nen, the guy who was teaching Gon about nen in the beginning was also teaching another non hunter child the basics of nen as well. Not to mention the arena where Gon and Hisoka had their fight is full of non hunters who know about nen. 2. As far as the multiple ant king idea, Merium was a unique existence created due to a spacific need and situation. On the dark continent there might not have necessarily been a reason for an ant king to be created or they might have been wiped out prior to being able to evolve to that point each time they moved in. Considering the dark continent and the number of people who would have been living there using and studying nen, you would almost have to assume that the people of that time were far more powerful in nen than the curent nen users. This would also explain why survivers tend to become more powerful, they would be able to learn small portions of the knowledge of the old kingdom to help with their own nen abilities.
Yeah, but look at the real world. There's countless martial arts and energy manipulating doctors. While most are fake the shaolin monks prove not all is
You mean Wing and Zushi? Wing is a Hunter and Zushi is one person. No on has ever really gone out of their way to keep others from learning nen and its shown on tv in heavens arena but i bet every dollar its cause togashi didnt think about it. Chimera ants dont care about need or situation, they are insects who will attack and eat anything. Unless the queen also evolved like Meruem then it doesnt matter what anyone thinks they would always try to grow stronger.
@@snowman9631 zushi might only be one person but it's still an example of a non hunter learning nen, and there are still a lot of the people in that battle tower who know nen but arnt hunters. The point was to show that his assessment of people being intentionally kept from learning nen unless they were a hunter has a flaw, nothing more than that. Who knows they could also all have learned it illegally but yet no one chooses to go after them, there's a lot of potential options there. As far as the chimera ants, you are right, untill merium they were driven purely by instinct. However, instinct is a situation and need based driving force. They needed food so they eat, they need to get stronger so they evolved to get stronger, but once they were the strongest in their area the need and there for the instinct to grow even stronger beyond that would go away because it would then be more beneficial to expend that energy on reproduction over getting even stronger when there is no need (look at evolution in our own world for examples of this, an apex predator doesn't continue to evolve and change to gain even more advantages in its environment, untill something comes along to provide the presure to continue to evolve and adapt anything without higher intelligence and thought process will stop evolving). There is also the chance that the nen users on that continent were far stronger and able to wipe out any ant invasions before they got to the point of an ant king. The creation of an ant king requires the consumption of a human, considering the power of the things on the continent the nen users of the time were most likly far more powerful, even Nettaro came back stronger meaning he learned something while he was there, something that would have been more easily learned and more accessible to the ancient nen users of the time. So let's say the average nen user was as strong as Nettaro, would a non evolved chimera ant have stood a chance at taking down and eating a nen user of that era to be able to create an ant king? And even if they did what would it matter when he would be an example of an average to weak nen user and they could have just turned around and sent another group of highly trained nen users to deal with it
Maybe that's why meruem got scared of netero in their last moments during their battle. Like an ancient fear response that the chinera ants from the DC had in response to the more powerful humans in the DC.
Be careful when going to Paris. I've heard it's pickpocket central. Always keep a hand on your wallet and/or phone and of you can't keep a hand on it make sure you can definitely feel it. Good luck on your trip

I started loving hxh when it was aired on a channel called Animax, not sure the year but it was a part of my childhood/adolescence, I will happily read or watch whatever ends up published 😭🥰
Anyone else think humanity somehow shrunk itself thru nen to live peacefully on the islands? It would explain why everything in the dark continent comically large and how it somehow has a "planet sized" lake in the middle of it.
I feel your sentiments... As much as i respect togashi's take on how he wants to make the HxH, i think its about time he hire an artist to draw for him or help him draw so that he can just focus on the world building and the story...
My theory is that because Mankind was so saturated with Nen on the Dark Continent, nature itself evolved to meet these new conditions. As evidenced by the ancient cities and structures, mankind was able to prosper at some point. It would also explain how so many creatures came to be hyper lethal towards humanity specifically. I believe that this would also explain the great treasures that everyone wants (Nitro Rice, Unmanned Rock, etc...) When a living creature dies, it is returned to the earth and feeds nature. What would then happen if people/animals saturated with Nen were returned to the earth and absorbed by their surroundings? What if thanks to mankind, the flora and fauna were able to accumulate Nen the same way a Bald Eagle accumulates mercury from eating fish? With that in mind, the Chimera Ants are the only creatures THAT WE KNOW OF, that can absorb Nen through the consumption of a nen user. Thanks for reading, this is my theory.
I think its an interesting concept, all the points you made would suggest that. Similar to how we percieve the mayans and egyptians, we know there was an ancient civilisation just dont have all the information. I hope Togashi does come forward and allow somebody else to draw the panels for him, the story is too good to give up on
What bothers me is Meruem was a fucking menace dude was so damn strong and still had a lot of room for further development but he and the chimera ants were a small insignificant threat from the dark continent so obviously we're going to want to see the dark continent but I also hate how the manga business and businessea in Japan in general are so good at over working people to death and I'd rather Togashi be able to live the rest of his life. Hopefully he decides to appoint someone else to finish the story for him and hopefully Oda being allowed to take regular breaks becomes the norm for the industry and people are able to just focus on their story without the insane deadlines and crunch time literally killing them. I'm overly optimistic because we see people get extremely pissed when projects get delayed and just as pissed when projects are rushed to meet a deadline and it turns out to be trash because of that. Can't win either way but personally I'd rather have stuff get delayed to ensure quality then rushed to meet a release date or deadline
This could explain Issac's character. Maybe he started off disappointed in humanity. Since leaving the dark continent humanity in his eyes had gotten weak. We seperated ourselves from the natural order of kill or be killed. But after his visit he learned there is no thrill in simply surviving. Unfortunately he wasn't able to pass this lesson onto his son.
Im assuming so many powerful nen users that lived on the DC died that post portem nen just started to be absorbed into the land turning it into the hell hole it is
That theory remind of "The Vulnerable World Hypothesis" from Nick Bostrom but with magic (nen) instead of science, you can find his paper on his website, it's a pretty interesting read.
togashi should ask yusuke murata to do his artwork lol, he releases the rougher artwork like ONE, once he finishes the story murata takes over. imagine hxh getting the opm treatment... (tbh i get why he doesnt want to compromise his creative vision, its not about doing the art himself, its that opening yourself up to collaboration inherently means having to listen to and let other people influence your art, overtly or subconciously. and he understands that what made hxh so beloved is how much freedom and experimentation he did with it.)
There’s zodiacs, Princes and their body guards, The phantom troupe, Ging and Pariston and the mafia but Hisoka being on the boat is going to be the biggest cause of chaos on the boat lmao
If I had to guess how Gon would end up on the Dark Continent... I dont think he will... but a guess. Killua and Alluka went to Whale island to vacation and visit Gon, Gon is training nen casually between school work... till Hisoka kills Illumi or Kalluto and Alluka senses it then tells them... Only way or reason for Gon and Killua to show up, but again I dont think they will be a part of this Arc, Ging is the new Improved Gon for the continent.
I like the chairmen re election arc coz it was a whole new cast of characters felt like a new show but leorio was there it felt like the exam arc part 2 in a lot of ways.
Brian is described as a sphere that protects mysterious ancient ruins. As far as I know, there is nothing confirming that the body in the image is Brion. The calamities are described as parasitic, though, so it's just as likely if not more likely that we're looking at a host body that the sphere is controlling
I’ve never read or seen Hunter X Hunter but have been so curious about the Dark Contenent. The fact the human world is in possibly just a *LAKE* is such an insane show of scale and I love it. As well as the sheer eldritch horror of the creatures and sicknesses. Reminds me of Made in The Abyss with how it’s beautiful and has strange artifacts that can benefit humans. But is ultimately full of absolute horror and suffering
I was wondering how much postmortem nen affects the story. For example, I wonder if the nen script we see a few times in the story is someone's post Morten nen. It's said that the script is more effective at boosting weak nen users (that's why that boxer guy in Greed Island used it), so maybe the whole system is the result of a weak nen user who had a nen writing ability and died cursing the strong.
I wish that Togashi would just write the script and only draw things when they first appear. So, any time we’re introduced to a new character, a new location, a new object, etc. It won’t even be a panel. Just a reference sheet. And then a team can take those and create panels from them with the script/dialogue that Togashi laid out.
this was a good video until like the last 2 minutes where you started waffling about how "HxH's art isn't important" and being entitled about needing to know how the story ends and saying you can "fill in the gaps". Disrespectful to Togashi and his legacy.
My personal theory is that the exploded world of the hunter hunter is a small archepeligo from one piece and the dark continent is the rest of the world
the saddest part about this is that once Togashi kicks the bucket that's it no more HxH story done and we'll forever be left with questions never to have them answered.
I also have a theory about thechimera ants being stronger, because just like how people die their nen get stronger if they die and part of them gets converted into a chimera ant then their Nen is technically in the death state power up, but a part of them is still living which is why they’re for the most part stronger than average nen users
Im fully convinced we know exactly what one of the calamities is and its alluka/nanika as ai the smoke like monster. Nen really cant even explain what nanika can do and her eyes go solid black when nanika takes over, so smoke critter infected this random girl once it got to the human world. Theres also a theory that Beyond Netero actually has zobai, or the immortality disease. The other guy with zobai went insane because he wasnt strong enough, Beyond was and the disease is driving him to go back for some reason.
He knows his options. I'm sure many fans have suggested different media to finish HunterxHunter. He just want to work on it his way and we can't really do anything about it. I'm happy with form of media it's in right now. I like the art, though, if it was between art + not finishing the story, and finishing the story + no art, I'd want the latter.
I'm currently 40....and I just realized I have unlocked a new fear.....and that's dieing before knowing if Hunter Hunter will ever have an ending. The curiosity and desire to know is irking me to no end. Please, whoever has the power to convince this man to accept more help than what he has....don't even write the story, dictate it to a helper who can then write it and then we can worry about drawing and publishing it. At this point, Hunter's ending is right up there with the Winds of Winter or whatever G. Martin's final book is called.
A personal theory of mine is that Hisoka is one of Hellbelle's victims. Like, a snake that makes people plain murderous is bad, but is it worse than the ants bad? But a snake that makes Hisoka? One that potentially awakens their nen? That's definitely worse
You know you've created a good world when people are mad that you haven't made more yet and are actively coming up with their own lore and endings to fill the gaps.
What you ask is impossible, because Togashi genuinely loves drawing manga, quite possibly even more than writing the story. The art (apart from the fans of course) might literally be the only thing driving him to keep adding to HxH despite his failing health.
My Head Cannon: The HxH Planet is a very large normal planet visited by the Ootutsuki Very Very Long ago. and a Chakra Tree was planted but never harvested (Or perhaps the Ootutsuki that was supposed to Harvest it was defeated By Freecs), and so it continued to grow larger sucking the life out of the planet. as it grew larger it began to create an ecosystem around itself kind of like an Immune System to protect the chakra fruit (because of course, the fruit as big as the tree is, would grant one power stronger than GODS.) every creature, being in the dark continent is simply part of the flora and fauna created by the Chakra Tree to protect itself (Like the Forest In Avatar, or the Pando Forest IRL), or with Chakra leaking into surrounding flora and fauna, poisoning them, mutating and making them stronger (same way the Claw Grimes are now in Boruto, But imagine that happening to every animal, & plant). Humans Existed in the Dark Continent as any normal planet may have, but as the Tree got Larger and the surrounding area became poisoned by this evil powers, the people that stayed got turned into Creatures of the Dark continent and the ones that fled survived, and The ancestors of what would be the Founders of the Hunter Association had to find a way to protect their continent (V5) and stop the Spread of the Chakra Tree's Influence. Their Solution? NEN, which was proven a very long time ago to be capable of being a counter to Chakra.
What if the known world is the home/territory to something that everything on the DC is avoiding to approach.. it could be the presence of Nen itself... Or maybe something way worse.
You should Collab with @NewWorldReview Id be so up to listen to you both wax lyrical on all things HXH. Love this exploration of the second secret of Togashi's world the first being Nen. It paints the Hunter Assoc in a different light. It's purpose and freedom of exploration for members (in whatever way/ passion/ drive they like, as long as they're hunting thereby getting stronger) and therefore acting as the known worlds own bodyguard and keeper of nen as a barrier from the dark content like the Chimera Ant expansion. Changes how you see all things happening. My theory now is that Beyond is Neteros own Calamity he brought back secretly but sanely. Beyond is to Netero (potentially a clone or nen created Son) in the same way Gon could be Gings own nen created child or clone (Through Greed Island pregnancy stone) 🕵🏿♂️
Also makes me less worried about Morena, Cheadle and Kurapika opening up the floodgate with immature nen users on the Black Whale. Better for humanity to be slightly prepared, armed and immature then dead on arrival!
idk about the chimera part of the theory. i mean u wouldnt have the problem of this hard fast evolution, bc everybody would have nen to defend themselves. like the ants would probably never become strong enough to even kill a child nen user.

I came to similar conclusion. Either all these calamities are the result of something wrong we made, were made by us... or an ecosystem reaction.
It's a shame Togashi can't just hand the artwork to another artist/team of artists and just be in charge of storywriting
That was the original plan, his wife was going to take over, but it seems he's been having more problems.

@@michaelshehata7845 Well I think that if the style is faithfully recreated then its all good.
And I imagine the literall wife of the guy who is also a talented artist would be able to do that
The same way he tweeted out the "break glass in case of emergency" ending, he could just do that with the rest of the story and we'd be happy.
To be fair, he has an entirely new world that he wants to show us. It'd be impossible for anybody else to draw what Togashi sees. But someone could definitely copy his style for old characters and settings. That would help him tremendously.
But honestly, if we just got novels with data books, I'd be happy at this point

@@cooldude4376 okay hate it
5:14 finally through the intro and into the actual video
I hate how many youtube videos require you to get 5 minutes deep before they actually start.
Chimera ants are the equivalent of ants we have on the great continent
Out of all concepts for a new story line to an established manga nothing has ever been so intriguing to me quite like the Dark Continent. I hope he gets better and is able to tell the story he wants to.
Feels like the real story has just begun. Gon and killua were actually some of the worst nen users with the most boring stories compared to the characters in the world of Hunter x Hunter, and that’s not a bad thing

18:14 if you don't know i think you should look into it, its actually very important to him why he write the the and drawings the way he wants.
What’s the reason?

Bro watch it, it’ll be in your top 5 no doubt. So worth it
You gotta watch and finish HxH. One of the best anime out there, no doubt about it.
That's me with Boruto lol
You fucked up big time bro
This would also explain why survivers tend to become more powerful, they would be able to learn small portions of the knowledge of the old kingdom to help with their own nen abilities.
you ever seen “from the New World”?
@@BigblackDavis nope

He's stubborn. There are many solutions to this, he just refuses to take them.

Unfortunately he wasn't able to pass this lesson onto his son.

togashi should ask yusuke murata to do his artwork lol, he releases the rougher artwork like ONE, once he finishes the story murata takes over. imagine hxh getting the opm treatment...

Brian is described as a sphere that protects mysterious ancient ruins. As far as I know, there is nothing confirming that the body in the image is Brion. I’ve never read or seen Hunter X Hunter but have been so curious about the Dark Contenent.
The fact the human world is in possibly just a *LAKE* is such an insane show of scale and I love it. As well as the sheer eldritch horror of the creatures and sicknesses.

We need Togashi to finish HunterxHunter! We don’t even need the pictures, just give us the story!
Now I see where the idea of Hell's Paradise came from
I wish that Togashi would just write the script and only draw things when they first appear.
I feel you. There doesn't need to be artwork with it. I'd read about it regardless.

ending D feels right. Death is beautiful. Too many people tryna live past death nowadays.
Isn’t his wife to finish it after he passes
I dont think Zigg was Sane before going, but hes part of Killua's family, nobody was gonna try and test him for sanity!
Togashi is married to Naoka…. The woman who made Sailor moon, he could literally ask her to do it
I also have a theory about thechimera ants being stronger, because just like how people die their nen get stronger if they die and part of them gets converted into a chimera ant then their Nen is technically in the death state power up, but a part of them is still living which is why they’re for the most part stronger than average nen users
Yoooooo what if humans are the "ants" of the dark content. So low on the food chain that actual Chimera Ants would even feast on them. 🤔🧐🤓
😂🤣😂🤣!!! The sea lion had me DEAD!!!!
Most appreciation for your channel. Too many boys on RUclips now. Since i can see your face, I feel safe with your channel.

What you ask is impossible, because Togashi genuinely loves drawing manga, quite possibly even more than writing the story.
The art (apart from the fans of course) might literally be the only thing driving him to keep adding to HxH despite his failing health.
I swear ive seen this thumbnail before, maybe it was simular to something on newworldreview or something but ive seen it
My Head Cannon: The HxH Planet is a very large normal planet visited by the Ootutsuki Very Very Long ago. and a Chakra Tree was planted but never harvested (Or perhaps the Ootutsuki that was supposed to Harvest it was defeated By Freecs), and so it continued to grow larger sucking the life out of the planet. as it grew larger it began to create an ecosystem around itself kind of like an Immune System to protect the chakra fruit (because of course, the fruit as big as the tree is, would grant one power stronger than GODS.) every creature, being in the dark continent is simply part of the flora and fauna created by the Chakra Tree to protect itself (Like the Forest In Avatar, or the Pando Forest IRL), or with Chakra leaking into surrounding flora and fauna, poisoning them, mutating and making them stronger (same way the Claw Grimes are now in Boruto, But imagine that happening to every animal, & plant).

Hunter hunter world is the same concept as “from the New World” but with nen instead of telekinesis
14:16 its great to see Let me solo her making a cameo :D
idk about the chimera part of the theory. i mean u wouldnt have the problem of this hard fast evolution, bc everybody would have nen to defend themselves. like the ants would probably never become strong enough to even kill a child nen user.
Soooo... humanity is the OG Calamity. Makes sense.
Man if Togashi don't take a pain pill and lay down and speak while having others write his words down
