My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

I have a French son-a young man who stayed with us one summer when he was 17. He lives in Lyon and we stayed in touch. After moving to France, we went to Lyon to see him and he took us to a restaurant for dinner. He was so proud of me because I ordered bone marrow. I really liked it, surprisingly. My tastes have drastically changed since moving to France!
Those fountains with all of the gold are just exquisitely beautiful. Growing up in Canada, we too were always warned about not eating raw or under cooked hamburger so I don't think I could even force myself to eat steak tartar. The fries looked good however. Enjoying my morning coffee while watching your fun video. Paris is so beautiful.
Who’s a good boy? Cooper! Aren’t you a good boy? Yes you are! Yes you are!
Thanks for the close up shots at Concorde. Those statues look fantastic!
I've really enjoyed seeing the transformation of Paris for the Olympics. Thanks a lot
I've lived long enough to see Paris in my Pocket be real! Now just waiting on Cooper Cam - Paris from a different view ...
Paris from a dogferent point of view. I second that
Great video, Jay! all the good stuff- sights & sounds, culture, your updates..
perfect with morning café
Just found Channel. Am there in a few weeks time and now comprehending the impact Olympics will have on Paris
Thanks!
Subscribed. Just flew home last night from CDG...miss Paris already! Good news, back this summer!
Thank you! And à bientôt!
Friends are great
Thanks for all you do and can't wait for the content on PIMP 🤣❤️
I am an American living in Lille, France. Rented an Airbnb in Paris for the Olympics and excited for the events. Definitely taking the train in. Traffic is going to be crazy
How do you like Lille? We’ll be visiting this summer to take in a few Olympic events there. What would you recommend to see in Lille?
The landlord probably kicked out the tenants of your airbnb so he could make a few bucks more than usual. It happens all the time now.
I love steak tartare, had it everywhere I went in Paris last year! Delicious
Good man Jay! I’ve never plucked up the courage to eat Steak Tartare but who knows one day. Loved Puxan’s face when you mentioned wine 😊. A man after my own heart lol. Saint Sulpice looked gorgeous with the chestnut trees in bloom.
My favourite area jay!
I am staying near Place de la Concorde, it is chaotic but still walkable. Enjoying Paris so far and weather was great for first 3 days, 6 more to go. Keep up the good work.
Sounds great!
Love steak tartare. And escargot!
They are also doing BMX freestyle and 3x3 Basketball there (which I have tickets to), so thats what the other bleachers are for.
5:29 I approve of Jay’s hot takes.
So here's my question and or suggestion. I subscribed as soon as you mentioned for your new channel which will be mostly Paris, but I still like this channel so I'll follow that too. My suggestion is similar to what Le Frenchies do, whenever you go out to eat somewhere, if you could just flash up on the screen a little priceless, that would help us when we're trying to think of eating out and dining in Paris. They recently did one last week and I almost lost my shit at how expensive it was. I'm hoping it's not always that way. Keep up the good work and hugs and pats to Cooper
I used to LOVE eating raw hamburger when I was a kid but haven't done that for years. It's not safe anymore and that is sad. I started eating Escargot by dipping my bread in the lovely garlic butter and then transitioned to eating the snails. I just try to avoid looking at them, they are not pretty, IMHO but oh my, so tasty.
I love the way Paris actually being used so events are IN Paris not all out in the countryside somewhere. I'm glad I'm not going to be there during the Olympics but can't wait to see the city as I watch the games.
Riddle of the Day: “What’s green and buttery and comes with its own house?”
Un escargot ... ail + persil + beurre ; on peut même y ajouter une goutte de pastis avant de mettre le beurre aillé et persillé c'est meilleur.
Have subscribed !
Thank you for sharing the Olympic updates, fun to see :) Which fountain is in the video?
The one at the end of the vid is the Fontaine Saint-Sulpice in front of the Saint-Sulpice Church in the 6e on the Left Bank. The fountain dates from the mid-1840s and the church has some interesting ties to the book, The daVinci Code, as well as a huge pipe organ. Very cool…
@@gregoryhageage6362 Thank you so much!!!
What version of non je ne regrette rien is that? So good.
❤❤❤
How do I sign up for Paris in my pocket channel ? I do not see a link .Merci!
Be careful with mixing to many shorts with the long format videos on the new channel. It tends to mess with the algorithm and a lot of channels that adapted shorts are struggling with their primary content. Better to keep the majority of the shorts on a shorts only channel or Instagram and TikTok. Can’t wait for the new channel to launch.🎉🥳🍾
Just Subscribed 👍
Awesome thank you!
5:20 Ooooh that sounds rather extreme but good for the long term, I guess?
You have to have steak tartar while in Paris. I've had it in the steaks but always too salty, but in France they know what they are doing.
And the BEST hamburger I've every tasted was in Paris, not far from the Catacombs, at a small cafe. I think the just use pure ingredients and you can taste it.
I was in Paris last summer and have been there multiple times since 1957. I’m bilingual and actually enjoy living in France more than the US. Especially with the possibility of Trump. Steak Tartare is a very common dish and is delicious. You didn’t mention that it’s common to take your leashed dog on patios and less common inside but still permitted. I have traveled extensively in France but my home base is La Côte d’Azur: Antibes or Cannes.
Just spent the last 10 days in Paris and I thought how funny it would be if I ran into you. Sadly, no such luck. Had dinner at Milagro one night per your recommendation.
Hope you enjoyed!
Can I get seconds on the escargot and the steak tartare?
Steak tartare is tasty... I love kibbeh nayyeh, so it doesn't faze me. The only thing I don't know if I could eat is chevaline.
90.3 k. ❤❤❤
🥂🎉
Hi. Thank you for the artist but the version in your video is a little different than original song. I really like the one your playing. Which version is it? Thanks
I’ve heard those rumors about banning cars around Place de la Concorde after the Olympics. Dang! Crossing the streets around there just won’t be the same should that come about. I guess it would be too much to ask about banning them at rue des Pyramides and Rivoli also, no? Thanks for the update, cool vid, and cool dog.🤙🏽
Hey Jay! I'm traveling to Paris next week, I'm slightly paranoid about the pickpockets. I'm mostly traumatized from when my phone was stolen during one of those classic clipboard interactions in Spain 10 years ago. I live in NYC now so I would like to think I'm a little more street smart now than I was in high school, but is this something I should be worried about? We're staying in Saint Germain de Pres and probably not going to any of the major attractions since we're looking for more of a relaxed trip going to coffee shops and restaurants.
If you've been living in a city, you're probably aware enough. Big tips are - don't put things in your back pockets, try not to have your phone out and loosely gripped on public transit/tourist hot spots, and of course, avoid the clipboards!
Will the Place de la Concorde metro stop also be impacted? Chatelet? Les Halles?
According to Le Figaro, Concorde, Champs-Élysées Clemenceau, and Tuileries will be closed for up to a few months from June 17...There's also more details in this article: www.enlargeyourparis.fr/societe/transports-en-commun-et-jo-de-paris-lactualite-des-fermetures-au-printemps#:~:text=17%20stations%20sont%20concernées%20au,)%2C%20Javel%20(10).
do you have tickets to any of the Olympic events? Or will you stay in town?
I have tickets to a couple, I'm definitely sticking around!
Long time no Puxan
Loved the jump from getting off the train at Republique metro to coming out at Concorde - worthy of the geographical nonsense we see in American films :D (I remember one scene, but not the film, in which a car goes around the corner near the Eiffel tower from one pov and turns up at the Arc de Triomphe from the next POV! All of that is incidental to why I started writing this- between now and the olympics you have the Bastille Day celebrations for which I assume Concorde will make a major appearance so they're probably getting all that infrastructure in place early for that? I lived in Paris many many years ago and the idea of Concorde being pedestrianised fills me with glee! But how is all the traffic from the Champs Elysees getting on and off?
Hi. I live in Austin, TX and really like the back ground music in this video. Please share the artist. Thanks
It's Édith Piaf : "Non, je ne regrette rien".
Why does it rain in Paris when the weather report says no rain just clouds? No worry, I will try again, after the Oly’s. 🌴🌴Aloha
It seems easier to predict the presence of could than the happening of the rain…

I be there in just two days, France here I come 🎉🎉🎉
I hear all the time about how there's no spicy food in Paris... Seems like a missed market?
People are starting to catch on, but you still have to hunt for it!
Tartare yes, escargot no... And saying what is green and comes with its own house did not help... Thanks for the O24 update.
Wow - never seen the fountains looking so clean.
Years in Paris and you don't love steak tartare? U
Third
Is he dating the blonde lady?
That's my employee, helping me get the shots
Youre serious ? youve lived in Paris for years and never had snails or raw steak ? .......thats just food in France, its like going to the US and not trying french fries.
My patrons vote on what food they want to see me eat, of course much of it I've already had.
We have been in Paris for almost a week. The traffic is a nightmare! I can’t imagine living here while the Olympics are going on. 🤣✈️🥂🍾🇫🇷🫣
