This is like those spy scenes where they meticulously contort their bodies to avoid the red laser beams of “demonetization” 🍃🍁💨
I assume the video was demonetized so the title changed since there's no point in pretending anymore? Either way it gave me a good chuckle when I scrolled past it and was like "this isn't how I remember it being titled".
I hadn't seen the video before now so it was really funny to go from "WEED POPCORN" to "medicated oil"
Thank you for turning a delightful holiday post into a fundraiser for a great cause. As a public defender I've seen first hand the harm that branding people for buying/selling/using said flower can have, though thankfully my state is one of the ones that has flipped that switch.
Public defender? Doing God's work, respect 🙏🏿
flavacol is the champion of popcorn. Bought some years ago, still have 98% of it.
I lost track of how old my carton is. I will pass it down to my children.
@@internetshaquille Just as a heads up from my experience, while Flavacol will never really go bad, I have found it's flavor degrades over time. I had a carton that was almost 5 years old, and while it was still perfectly edible, I noticed the flavor started getting bland and almost had this weird metallic after-taste. I bought a fresh carton to compare and the flavor on the fresh stuff was way more buttery and pungent.
Keep in mind though it still took half a decade before I noticed.
I've always wanted to try it. Does it really make it taste like real movie theater popcorn? The microwave popcorn you can buy that claims to taste like movie theater popcorn never does. Why don't they use flavacol? Or do they?
@@voodoosleeper *Coconut oil* and flavacol. It appears microwavable movie popcorn doesn't have coconut oil, maybe because of how it's packaged and stored- maybe it doesn't play well with the sciencey-magic that is microwavable popcorn.
*Coconut oil* and flavacol in a pan, try it.
@@Quixan Thanks so much for giving such a clear answer! I'm gonna give it a shot.
Damn, rolling up with a good and easy 420 recipe *and* plugging a great nonprofit aimed at reform? This video's a hit!
Also this recipe is really good, the portion control especially is great so I highly recommend giving this a shot if you like or want to try edibles.
how did you comment this 6 days before it was posted
@@MarcusFigueras I suspect the video was initially unlisted and links were distributed through a members-only platform for an early release.
@@xbreezybx8403 I suspect its the more likely option of being time travel.
“Rolling up” i see what you did there
excellent message about people profiting while others are still locked up, and a self sponsor, and a sane, enjoyable way to kick back? ty, i bet the flavacol also does a killer job of diluting the herbiness for the more casual enjoyers
not to dog on the sponsorships, his sponsored content in particular is leagues ahead of anyone else, we just like to see our guy thrive with his own company too.
You're consistently one of my favorite youtubers, and it's because of stuff like this. The combination of great video concept AND directing people towards a fundraiser to help solve a really effed up problem? Seriously awesome.
and he gets to the fucking point
i just made this popcorn (minus the herbal meds addition and with ghee instead of coconut oil) and it is the best popcorn i've ever made. no unpopped kernels, perfect amount of flavor. thank you, dude
I've never considered using ghee. I reckon that would be pretty good
@@yeezet4592 it certainly is. if you don't like buttery popcorn, it's probably not going to be your thing
@@nosugrefalsi I'm definitely going to have to give this a try.
As someone who has gone the extract and decarb route in my own homemade brownies before, props for your choice of coconut oil. I've found the high saturated fat content makes it ideal for extraction and contributes to a wonderfully fudgy browny texture.
it also tastes heckin yummo
Started the channel sauced as hell making peanut butter banana compote burgers. Now runs his own damn company and lives off the channel. Good sir, I'm so unbelievably proud to have been witness to your journey.

I'm absolutely floored by how perfect you have made a YT video. I love how self aware you. Like calling out BS before it even happens.
Thank you for supporting the cause
I visited Colorado last week and I was amazed at all of the products they've created with herbal infusions. I had a "Dr. Puffer" soda that tasted like Dr. Pepper and a caramel chocolate cookie and I made it through about 30 minutes of a movie before waking up 10 hours later holding a half eaten 7-11 coffee roll. I'm old now, I can't hang.
Well said and well done brother. Another great video and just in time
I love this channel! Appreciate the fundraiser and the content
High heats can degrade some of the good medicated compounds making it significantly less potent. I would suggest adding the medical oil to the final product as a seasoning in order to have accurate concentrations of medication. Just a note! love the video and the campaign.
I think it would make the most sense to add directly to your mouth, then enjoy normal popcorn
Happy 420 man
Thanks for all the great content. Broke as shit rn but I'm saving up to buy some of your pottery soon!
I used to make potcorn with friends with medicated butter. The kernels on the bottom always had more butter, so if you scrape the last ones out of the bowl, you could end up annihilated
maybe something to do with butter's higher density and viscosity compared to vegetable oil? i would play it safe and stick with oil, being careful to stir it all up after popping. im a little freak so i would also put some oil from Lao Gan Ma in my popping vessel for a spicy kick.
@@scouthanamura2380 lao gan ma sounds fun! we would use put herbs (rosemary, sage etc,) in there
I bought a carton of Flavacol about 7 years ago. I experimented with it a lot, and I now often use it in baked goods - cakes, cookies, granola etc. - because in the right amount it can add massive depth of flavour. I will probably finish it within the decade.
The goat! Love all that you are and all that you stand for!
The herbal aspect of this is awesome and I look forward to trying it but I'm honestly just hype that you told me about flavacol.
To avoid the issue of steam ruining the crunch of popcorn, and a tilted lid allowing hot oil and kernels to escape, use a mesh splatter-guard. The mesh allows more steam to escape, holds the kernels in place, and stops (most) of the oil splatter.
As a canadian I literally forgot it was still illegal in some states. That's crazy
Drugs are not cool. Never will. They are just an escape from reality.
Getting drunk is also not cool. Why is getting high on cannabis suddenly acceptable.
@@davidz2690 Yeah but it's been legalized in some states, Idk why it wouldn't be legal in all.

Decriminalize Flavacol
As of last year (with Maryland and Missouri's legalization) it finally tipped the scale and it's legal for over half of US residents.
Respect for the nonprofit being included in this context
Thank you for including a call to action in this video that so rad!
I had to put together some advocacy materials for a legal writing class, and the Last Prisoner Project was such a valuable resource. Although I've never had this particular flower myself, the research dramatically changed my opinion toward it.
fantastic video, the shoutout at the end of the video was a nice addition!
Great video man and what a great campaign

I see the title has changed since this one came out lol. No longer beholden to the algorithm 😅
i am washed up, but at least i am free
Woks are also great for making popcorn if you have one on hand. It keeps the kernels towards the bottom so they meet the oil, meaning less unpopped kernels. Also it's easy to shake and keep everything moving and evenly coated. Just cover the top with foil and poke a few steam holes with a knife for a makeshift lid. Happy 420!
We made the weed butter fresh in my apartment, and baked it into a key lime pie's graham cracker crust. The lime certainly helped in terms of flavor
While I do not partake in herbal remedies, I'm glad to see someone singing the praises of Flavacol. That and my Whirley Pop, I'm never making popcorn any other way.
I am here for this content!
Good looking recipe, great cause
Thank you mr. Internet!
I dunno... that food colour bottle is suspiciously full...
The best food I've found for "medicating" is, oddly enough, tomatillo-based salsa verde. The herbs and spices in the salsa disguises the flavor of the medication (my roommate used cannabutter for this) better than anything else I tried.
OooOoooOoo!!!
Good take, will have to wait here in germany for probably another year. Maybe when they get around to taking care of everything i will try a different take with butter, cause we for sure won't get any legal green dyed coconut oil!
My austrian ass: 😭
I've stumbled upon your shorts and have been intrigued by your format of mentioning the sponsor at the end of the video--waited it out and YES, I am a little ceramics freak like you. Glad I stayed lol.
I've tried so many internet popcorn recipes and even bought a microwave popper, this is the first time ever kernel has popped and the popcorn is big and bountiful. Lots of anti-Kenji advice in this vid. Correct on the crispiness - soggyness issue, i prefer crispier so need to work on that. Bravo to Shaq!
Very based video man, glad to see you in support of this!!
That last bit you said at 3:15? Preach, buddy!
Thank you my friend.
That’s the way to do it! Would help with the vibe of a movie night really well.
+1 for quality youtuber merch. If theres one thing i can thank the algorithm for, its bringing this channel and its incrediblrle content into my periphery. Big ups iShaq
Cool video. Edibles are not really my thing but this "recipe" seemed very simple and easy to do. Very interesting.
I've been medicating my popcorn for like 2 years, fucking hell yeah Based Shaq
THANK YOU for helping those incarcerated for possessing a now-mostly-legal product! My wife and I already support LPP annually and I dropped a grand on four Barkley snack plates a couple weeks ago (great product, coming back for more when we can) but I'll happily donate here when I have a bit more to spare. Awesome, informative video as always!
Have to try this! Also from personal experience of making not-weed popcorn, you don't have to put the tester kernels in, just dump them all in at once and keep shaking
My state recently flipped the switch so I'm excited to finally try this recipe!
Just to add, a reason why brownie, cookies etc (basically junk foods lol) are commonly used is THC needs to dissolve in fats to fully activate.
Happy 4/20 everyone :D
It doesn’t ‘activate’ in the oil. If that were the case you’d need to decarboxylate in a lipid medium, which you don’t have to do. The fat is there to allow the body to digest the fat-soluble cannabinoids. In a way, it’s why eating raw weed doesn’t get you high.
I appreciate you taking a moment to advocate for those who are incarcerated for weed charges. Expunge all charges!
Love the stache
Only at the end of the video did I understood it wasn't about giving yourself flu medication. Only mild suspicions at the oil part. Good job in both fooling me and help me understand that gummies aren't the only ones I should try!
the video title is objectively hilarious
You seem like such a great person
In case anyone in the comments here is into baking their edibles, I want to recommend that you add cinnamon and cardamom. It doesn't matter what you're making, usually their flavours won't overwhelm the rest of the edible, but they will remove some of the herbal potency, transforming it into an enjoyable flavour in its own right.
Dropped your crown chief 👑

While I think it's a pretty cool idea, I wonder what the efficacy of this technique is or if it leads to waste of herbal medicine.
The approx. temperature for the active ingredient to turn to smoke is around 350F while the oil temperature for popcorn usually sits closer to 400F.
Wouldn't you just let most of the active ingredient out as vapour when you lift the lid after popping?
Maybe an alternative is to melt butter with your medicated oil at a much lower temperature (90F-100F), stir well to distribute, and then use the butter as a topping on your kernels.
"Coconut oil I dyed green" Ahhh mhm mhm
I used a natural dye :)
Good on you man, I’m broke as shit so I will not be donating but this is a great cause. My dad happened to be ratted out back in 2008. It’s legal now, where we’re at, but it’s still BS that he, or anyone, was arrested over a plant.

"I've always found ceramic to be my favorite material" it reminds me of Community when Jeff is all upset at the pottery guy. "Santa Fe? No one leaves Santa Fe without learning to make a vase!"
I may have to pick up some ceramic cookware from Barkley!
Great video!
Actually, maybe you *do* want to play russian roulette where all the medication is concentrated into one kernel. Could be fun! Everyone else gets the placebo of it anyway
Depending on the dose, i feel like the placebo isn't gonna be all that effective
I can choke down a pile of my decarbed herbs with only a slight grimace, so imma see what I can do with this recipe as a base without the Flavacol. Will probably use the nutritional yeast I have kicking around for some cheese-adjacent flavor to try masking it. Will come back with results
Just thought I'd add - the absolute best pot to pop popcorn in at home is an Indian pan called a Karahi/Kadai. It's like a wok but with far steeper sides. The stainless steel ones have quite loose fitting lids, and when you shake the pan, the steam escapes from the sides very quickly before resealing so no oil escapes. The popcorn kernels will push away from the bottom when they pop, and the smaller cooking surface compared to the total volume of the pan means that it is next to impossible to burn your popcorn, much like the Alton Brown cooking method with a stainless steel mixing bowl.
For easy crispy popcorn, use a metal colander for a lid
Genius
🤯
I have a screen that goes over a pot to prevent oil splash. It's great
Why is internet Shaquille so chill
Rub a bowl with garlic, add your fresh popcorn, add medicated melted butter, salt and some extra garlic powder. Toss it all together to mix in the butter, spices and have some of the fresh garlic taste rub off on the popcorn. Lastly finish with parmesan and parsley.
Ps.: If you're using a vaporizer you can just infuse butter with the vaped bud without having to worry about decarboxylation, its a great way to be very efficient with your herb.
I use a fine mesh strainer or a metal sieve that fits over the pan instead of a pan lid.
I appreciate you using your platform to push for social justice. Keep up the quirky content please. Happy holidays everyone :)
If you don't want to crack the lid open but are really annoyed by wet pieces of popcorn from the water/steam, you can put a paper towel between the lid and the pot. This always works for me.
the fundraiser! i love you
Love the vid! Is it possible to add the recipe in grams/mililtres?
I do the same when I put tajin on my microwave popcorn
My pot has a lid with a little tiny vent hole near the center that lets out steam. If you want crunchy popcorn without the drawbacks of leaving the lid open a crack, I recommend checking if you have a similar lid
