Planter's Punch by Smuggler's Cove | Tiki Drink Essentials

  • The Planter's Punch by Smuggler's Cove is one of my personal favorite tiki cocktails, and packs a huge "punch" with 3 ounces of Jamaican rum. Easy to make, and even easier to drink.... add this cocktail to your next party!

    Ingredients:
    3 oz. Jamaican rum
    1 oz. lime juice
    3/4 oz. demerara syrup
    1/4 oz. allspice dram (pimento dram)
    2 dashes Angostura Bitters
    Instructions: Combine rum, lime juice, demerara syrup, allspice dram and bitters in shaker tin with ice. Shake till cold. Pour into highball glass with ice and garnish with a sprig of mint.

    Random question- have you ever made a cocktail with the bitters and then the same recipe without the bitters? If you were blindfolded, could you taste the difference?

      That's a great question... I have not tried an AB test like that, but I think it would really depend on the amount of ingredients, the type of ingredients, and how much (or how little) bitters are used. The cocktail lover in me believes you'd definitely be able to tell, but could I really if I was blindfolder? Now you've got me wondering....
