- Anand and Carlsen crossed swords against each other in round four of the Lindores Abbey Chess Stars 2019. In round three Anand had already played against Carlsen and had lost the game with black pieces. Round 4 was on the next day, and Vishy had the white pieces. He opened the game with 1.e4 and the response was 1...d6!? The Pirc it was. Have a look at how the game progressed between two of the greatest players in the world of chess.

Oh wonderful! I love the Pirc - what a treat to see Magnus playing it. Thank you!
This footage is simply amazing!! Just wish there was an analysis board next to it so as to make it easier to follow.
@Ummer Farooq is that easier?
i dont know why but it always disturbs me how nicely they press the timer
asmr
Yeah, when I play I smash that clock
I smash that clock
Just watch their bullet and rapid games
@@devendraizardar4417 this is rapid game, you mean to say blitz game right??
You are very nice we need more channels like you 🌹🌹😉😊
Carlsen had a headache since start.
At end both were so bored. Didn't give a damn.
Draw by repetitions. Am I Right?
Yes, you are!
is that a question? If u are not sure of that how are u watching chess man?come on bro
How else will he learn?
@@abhaybhandarkarNo need to be rude. Technically it was a draw by rep but even without that they would both have quickly agreed to a draw there's just nothing there. So it was a valid question.
Abhay Bhandarkar you made my day with that reaction 😂
Que defensa sólida la Pirc y Anand la conoce muy bien, si atacaba esa defensa posiblemente perdía
At 33:39 Magnus Carlsen takes a sip of water!!!! Awesome!!! I mean literally that is the only drama in this video. No one can see the game because of the camera angle and there is all the emotional intensity and body language of two strangers waiting for a bus that is late, who are too self involved to strike up a conversation.
Sooo you watch chess for drama? Who cares if theres no drama, the camera angle isnt the greatest but anyone who plays chess on a relatively regular basis can follow along just fine, striking up a conversation goes against chess etiquette, this isnt prison. Talking to your opponent while he or she is concentrating is equivalent to putting a brick wall in front of a pitcher during a baseball game while hes trying to pitch. If anything I just said to you sounds wrong then you really dont need to be watching chess.
i have to agree. this game was a yawner. There are many aggressive lines for white
against the pirc but none forthcoming from Anand. He was playing it safe. Not sure
why this game was selected for a video.
@@kitdu7828 then why are you not a grandmaster if you know more than the legend n it was a long video of a rapid game so many impatient people will find it boring but real chess players will not find it boring
N at least give the timestamp correct its 33:49 not 33:39
@@kavitaagarwalla2532 the only way i can figure how Anand played is that he was scared of Carlsen- yes, a gutless chicken!
Thanks for uploading :)
World's best minds are playing .Just watch don't think about the game
I wouldn't say world's greatest minds - do you mean world's greatest chess minds?
@@ym276 yeah that's what he meant
Vishy sir looked surprised when magnus moved that night..
Who all think that either of them is thinking about shaking hands and ending the game during the last minutes of the game especially anand
they both knew it was a draw as soon as it entered the end game. They were gentlemen and continued as long as possible to help the promotor of the game.
Why e6 amd not e5????????...
I'm not aware of why it looked like the clock was plugged into the board and each chess piece had a little dot , perhaps a magnet?, on the center bottom. Any one want to tell me what's new in chess tech?
Don't quote me on this but I think it has to do with E-boards for audience, when a player moves a piece it automatically moves
@@bluemoon4961 i would put money on your guess. thx.
Both got bored and agreed to Draw 😃
If you suffer from insomnia try watching this video!
Yes, there should have been a small screen with proper view of the board.
The weird view of the board is really irritating.
It's not often you witness a genius strutting their stuff - here we have two!
Carlsen seems pretty bored
Chess is my favourite
Who won the game?🤔 The people who see the game, right.😎
Draw
In a way yes.:)
Good game
Unable to view clearly.
Expecting better viewing experience for public.
Draw by repeation
Win ??
D5 is a good outpost for night

What is the time rule in chess?
Can someone please send link of chess pieces please
Magnus seems like he is tired of playing chess again and again.
Many Thanks for this smart vid: Their body language is so meaningful & interesting (to forget this boring PIRC).
Both players are very decent ...Wow !!!
Roshan Verma I think ‘decent’ is insulting, as they are both world champions(Anand is a former)
@@adithyakashyap9315 He didn't mean decent at chess, he meant chivalrous
Don't Like Attention I think he said decent but tbh it doesn’t matter. 2 great players, battling it out is what’s important
So cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Nice
Draw match
Okey.
draw by repetition in 40 moves!
SECRET? WEAPON? Don't be ferkin daft.
Boring you can't expect people to work out the game from looking at the board 5 meters away,. Get some production values. Boring boring boring. I'll watch the game on another site where they care about chess.
Jai hind🇮🇳🇮🇳
So many water bottles...
both of them played cautiously and didnt want to attack. To me this is quite boring :(
They both were passive. 7.Bc4 was an inaccuracy. d5 simply, or Bc3 was the better square for his bishop. I was expecting carlsen to force the issue there with 7...Nxe4. 8.d5 lacked the initiative after e3. 11...b3? Was a throwaway move. Developing the rook to e8 or posting his knight on f5 were stronger options. 18.Be2 was a waste when he could have centralized his knight.
Some "weapon." Yawn...
😎
Where is Carlson's secret weapon ...u son of a bitch ...
Very. Boring

Congrats on the achievement.
