What software do you use to automatically sync smartphones and computers to the NAS? I want to backup my devices like you.
I'm sold on this idea. This sounds incredible !
I would really like to see more about home networking, thank you!
Great run down! I would love to see more about this topic: Building you own NAS, Enclosures, Drives, set-up. Also how does RAID work into this. Thanks!
it's been 2 years.....he is still researching your question.....just be patient
More, please. I didn't want the video to end.
Thanks for the intro. Good info. I'm ready to take it to the next level.
Great video. I will setup my own home network storage now for games etc.
I have a Synology NAS that I use mainly for backups and as a Plex server. I'd love to see a video on other uses for a NAS in a home or home office setting. Also, if you have any good video recommendations for linking one NAS to another over the internet and/or a VPN for remote backups, I'm all ears (because the Synology documentation on setting something like that up is limited/poor).
Excellent review for a novice about to jump into this very deep pond!
Hi, enjoy your video, would you have any clips or tutorial on how to actually build the home NAS and what are the recommended HW?
Speaking of price to performance for google's data backup or making your own, you could spend very little money by just using an old PC that may already have enough storage in it and then you could make a NAS.
Helpfull, thank you!
Great stuff. Helps cut down on the cost. I'd like to know if you can connect NAS to a private wifi network so subordinates can access without having to pay for the internet.
interesting. would like to hear your recommendation like for beginner/personal, streamer/content creator setup. thanks.
I love this topic!
YES - need a video to show this olsss
U woud definitely love to see more home networking videos
Hypothetical question. If I could run programs directly off of the cloud system then couldn't I download a software onto the system and use it on any computer?
I would like to hear more about the tools used in your NAS for a better automation specialy for Android Os Backups for Pics and Videos just as Googe Photos.
Great tutorial introduction to the subject. I already have an old Buffalo NAS. Can I upgrade the shell by buying bigger hard drives. It currently has 4 slots with 0.5TB in each.
Can you tell us more about security? I want to switch to a NAS but I am worried about what potential threats accompany this method of storage. I would want to store sensitive information on mine. But if that opens me to serious potential risks, then the change wouldn’t be worth it.
You would need to secure your network. Many RUclips videos on how to secure your network! Good firewall and router will be very secure.
This video is just what I was looking for, perfectly explained and clear. How do I buy my own IP address now :)
Need more info. How to set this local storage set up. What hardware. Cane we use old internal and external hard drives?
Do you by chance have a video on how you managed to get your phone's data to auto backup to a NAS?
Yes, what are the best NAS available in 2022? And the cost.
Please keep rambling!!!❤
i would like to know what NAS is best for PLEX. I have not seen any good and clear information in that regard online
Great video, can you do one on how to set up a NAS so I can use it from anywhere. I use a Terramaster cloud storage solution and I want to be able to access my files from anywhere using my file browser.... Anywhere (not using the crappy app the company provides) with that being said, many of the tutorials are confusing for setting up port forwarding. I want it to be a TRUE cloud so if I go on vacation I can back up my phone wherever I am.
Where can we find a step by step instruction video? Thank you!
When you automatically backup a phone , does it back up “everything” every time , or just the stuff that is “new” ?
Backing up everything every time seems like it would eat up a lot of storage and have the same items backed up many times.
Great review, how do you actually access the data? I am really curious how that user experience is from a phone vs PC/laptop, from home vs outside the home.
I'm pretty sure it would show up as a drive letter and the path is in there.
@@isleseayou you're correct. It would be readable as a drive that would show up on the network.
Would like to see more and on setup if possible
Can I access the nas on diffrent wifi
What is the song playing in the background at 6::30?
Best idea for old photos and videos. Just upload to RUclips
need your suggestion, I have remote server (AWS) and personal computer. I am looking for something to which i can store data from both systems, Google drive, One drive all these things are cloud stuff only best for sharing purpose. In Remote server (AWS), storage capacity is limited, more i ask for storage it will keep increasing the prices. As per your what is the best way to have good storage capacity, which can be used to store from both systems and I dont have to look back to AWS and should not be asking for more storage.
I'm not a NAS expert but it would seem that you could stream saved movies off your NAS even if the internet is down because your wifi and router still have power. Cloud service wouldn't work. If this is true that would be a nice benefit.
i have wd old nas , earlier it used to connect to internet but later wd revised its policy for old nas, how should i get this old nas available on internet ..nas still runs on wd ..it is slower as well compared to new age ssds ?
How do you do the media server
bro i have 1 question nas can make embed link for video if i upload my video into nas. can nas create a embed link and then can i use the embed link for my blogger for get view ?
2:29 Wd just had a issue where all a lot of their storage cloud units got hacked and deleted
But how would one go about starting to build one
What app do you use to access nas remotely
So basically NAS is a huge RAM memory that has a spare saving memory in case one of them get spoiled; plus it connects to the internet.
7-10-23 The WD MyCloud service has been discontinued and my 2TB MyCloud Home device has failed. I simply want a Cloud on my Home Network. Can this still be done?
Can you build it and show us how
I HATE F**KING SUBSCRIPTIONS!!!!! Thank you for this.
Can I play games from a NAS?
Are you running Raid 3 or 5 ?
HOW CAN I DO THIS?
this thought is too early in time. but will be big one day...
Not MAKE, but should say BUY
Now would something like that be possible without a internet connection. But with a router/main computer? Cause I would be interested in sharing all of my movies. With all of my laptops/computer and kids chromebooks. Not saying it wouldn't be necessary at some point to have. But it would be nice to know I could share with my kids in their rooms.
A NAS doesn't need to have internet access. It works fine on a local network. Obviously you'll need internet access to download apps to run on it or cloud backups. If you want your nas as a plex server, hook it up, install plex and then take it offline. It will still work for your home network.
I would love to get a NAS but with all the movies, TV shows and other stuff I have I would need at least 8tb of space which is out of my price range right now
Yeah prices are crazy. I have 80tb but can't buy more because of rising costs thanks chia
If NAS is experiencing sudden electricity cut, it may damange the NAS, we wont know when there will be sudden electricity cut in our home
whats confusing me is I see some of them say, this one has 6 GB DDR3L of memory. Why does the NAS need memory if all it does is hold hard drives
It doesn't just hold drives. It's small computer. It runs an operating system and you can run apps on it. Say a video server, then the nas can stream all the videos to any device you want. You could run a http server on it, or a database, or a smarthome app, etc. It needs memory for that, even just for serving files.
That NAs loads it's entire OS in ram that's why :)
@@Exicor I dont fknow why I asked that question, I should've known that
Floating around in a box
Fire or flood, and lose it all. I hate cloud storage, but it's hard to argue for remote access and overall (real world) security for average consumers.
Pcloud one price for 99 years of storage
LAN NAS is not cloud. Very different use cases.
What the hell is a "Nos"?
It's hilarious how similar the style &look is to the "average redditor" series lol
Not saying you're that, but just look for yourself XD
my internet speed is 25mbps and upload 3mbps
That's terrible
Name of software you use to automatically back up your wife's phone when she's connected to wifi??
Can't I just plug a usb drive in my router?
yes but you wont be able to use the wifi. Thats why he said use an ethernet cable to connect to the wifi from the router.
