My cat lost hearing 2 years ago, 6 months ago she started to lose weight, 3 months ago blindness from time to time, lesser and lesser eating.
Two weeks before her death she refused to get to her high sleeping place, so i put it down on the floor. I also put a water bowl right beside it. Two days before her death she wasnt able to to to the toilet - she just got out of the bed, layed down flat on the floor and urinated a little puddle.
And on her last day at 22:00 she seemed very weak, so i took her on my lap, petted her for an hour and she died. She was 18 years old then.

I had a cat that showed some of these symptoms, and one day he disappeared w/o a trace. I was very sad, and didn't know he would leave like that, but some of these symptoms were showing in him and I didn't know if he was really dying or not.
[Edit] well my other cat had passed away a little before Halloween. Rest in peace Lunar. He was a sweet white kitty, and he was so respectful. I hope he's happy to see his brother Mojo again. Rest in peace my boys. 🙏🏻 may God give you all the love in heaven like I did for you here on Earth.

Please don't panic over most of these symptoms as they are quite normal for most cats. In my lifetime with over 200 cats I've rescued some have been great havachats, sleep most of the day, etc, etc. Some haven't made it to two weeks of age, others have lived past 21. I know when they need to have the vet give them a kind and peaceful way to cat heaven.
I had one old girl last year laying in my lap having a cuddle when she chose to pass away.

My cat started squatting in the house one day and making weird grunting noises. It looked like he was trying to pee! It was odd, so I walked over and gently used my foot to try and point him towards the litter box. That was when he hissed at me and that was not right. He’s a marshmallow and has never hissed at us. Long story short, his pee was backing up and we went through everything we could to help. One morning, he just looked sick and I knew he was peeing less and less. I called the vet and rushed him over. He had emergency PU surgery. They also found he has heart failure. So now he’s doing much better and he’s himself and not sickly anymore.

    • @tenshimoon
      @tenshimoon Год назад +9

I find that interesting, like why? Having loved ones with you in your last days would bring comfort, you'd think. Maybe it's a leftover instinct from their wild ancestors, like being near death makes them vulnerable to predators, so this is their way of resting/dying in peace instead of risking being attacked. Idk, just a guess.

My girl was 18 when she quit drinking water. My vet had not yet suggested sub-Q fluids. We found her by the front door that night, trying to get out of the house. Hiding behavior. My vet said she passed at home where she was happy. I don't know about that. She didn't look so happy. I loved her so much.

    • @pennymartina
      @pennymartina Год назад +4

I'm so sorry. So hard when they die. I'm sorry you found her this way. It's not easy to know what and when, sometimes the vets don't even know.
I found my 21 year old cat Amber at the bottom of the basement steps. I wasn't sure whether she had walked down, or fell down. Her legs were stretched out in back of her. I brought her to the vet, thinking she may have broken her leg. The vet said nothing broken, just take her home and see how she does. In the next couple of weeks, I noticed that she was urinating less. Then hardly at all, although she was going to the litter box more often. I thought maybe she was constipated and it was blocking her bladder, so I took her to the vet for an enema. Luckily, the vet that was there that day said he thought something more serious was going on, and said I should have an ultrasound done on her. I did, and it showed that she had tumors in her bladder, on her kidneys and on her liver. At 21 years old nothing could be done for her, so I had to do what was best for her and have her put down. When I came to the vet, we, could have had it done right there, but I had brought some food and some cat milk to give her, and she ate and drank
The vet said we could bring her home for a day, but knew she had to be put down. We had the vet come to the house the next day, and Amber went peacefully.
I still blamed myself for not realizing sooner that she was suffering. My point is it's always always hard to know exactly when. There is no doubt that you loved your kitty very much.

My childhood cat, Milo, was always out and social. Towards the end of his 18 years, we noticed he would hide. He also wouldn’t come out running to eat. He lost a lot of weight. Going from 15lbs to just 5. We eventually had to put him down, because his livers were failing. But I will say this, the signs were there. And on the vet table, he was purring. I wish pets could live as long as we do.

I had a cat around 10 years ago now that died. He was a loving and protective cat, a Bombay and Persian crossbreed with a white streak on his chest not present in the rest of his litter. He had contracted rocky mountain fever from a white spotted infected tick, we didn't know the signs or the illness before he was too far gone. On his final days his body temperature was through the roof, he barely moved, he didn't groom himself at all, and during his final trip to the vet he relieved himself without warning. We had no choice but to put him down before the illness made him suffer any more pain, the vets told us that the only way he could've survived is if we had taken him there the day he was bitten. He's outlived by his siblings and his mother, who's still alive to this day.

We have or had 3 sibling Norwegian Forest cats. Now we have two, they are both 19 years old. Our 3rd was recently put to sleep she went blind and deaf due to kidney failure, we just didn't know she had symptoms a few months before and I spent the whole night with her in her bed making sure she was ok, giving her water, and the next day she recovered. So we thought it might be something she ate. (she liked eating plants) but we were sure we removed all toxic plants out of her roaming path. Then the same thing happened again and it proved fatal. We left it too long to take her to be put to rest, It broke my heart.
The vet told us she was over 100 cat years old, and was suprised we still have 2. We held cried and kissed our Lioness goodbye.
Pay attention to the signs people.

My cat went at the age of 6, she liked to go outdoors and we lived on a dead end street, one day, she decided to venture out to the main road, and at the time she decided to go across the street, I wasn’t even home at the time, and my friendly neighbor saw my cat in the middle of the street, dead, and left my cat in front of the step, in a sleeping position, when I got home, I couldn’t believe what had happened after my neighbor told me what happened, now she’s in my backyard in heaven, may god rest her soul.

My little black pusscat showed up as a stray over 15 years ago, pregnant. Out of the blue. Both her kittens have passed on. She was doing fine last vet visit. Then losing weight gradually and then moreso. Still eating and drinking. Then diarrhea and vomiting. Vet took X rays today and she is a goner,. so tomorrow is her last day. She has been eating still so she has been eating like a queen. People food and cat food. She will not go out hungry I suppose unless the disease robs her of satisfaction. Last female, the others are rotten toms, all rescues. Big deal is weight loss in cats to look out for, I found. That is the subtle sign that sneaks up on you over time.

In his last few days he WAS in distress I think, I got him to the vet but I should NOT HAVE WAITED. I should have done something differently, maybe it would have helped. I also think the vet sucked, they basically tortured him more. He would have been better off if I had just kept him home.

His diet is for his chronic Kidney disease.
It's wet cat food > Tuna Vegetable Stew} his favorite.

*By the way; he is 17 1/2 years old.
Not only is he in 1st or 2nd stage of renal failure. He was diagnosed with chronic Kidney disease few-several years ago.
*He also has overactive thyroid and Parathyroid ( happily its beign).
We treasure our time with him.
He had a annual check up with his vet in July.
    Nothing changed that much.
His wt. is the same as last year.
The only thing that is different is,
he has tater on his teeth.
*He's blind in his right eye
(he's had issues with that eye since he was 8 years old.
Now, I think he's getting cataract in his left eye.
Or possibly a reflection from the light when I took his pictures.

Came on gradually - yet- suddenly,
I kept missing the cues until it was to late to do anything for him.

Rosie and Ms. Kitty wouldn't let me pet them since I used to chase them as a kid, but before they disappeared, they let me love them up. Today Cleo probably has Osteoarthritis since Cleo is over 13 years old, but it's hard to get to the forest since Cleo has Osteoarthritis and can't move the back legs. I am still crying since Cleo must be in so much pain.
Edit: This is like me seeing a heart on this after 1 month of the comment being under this video, anyways later that day after i commented that Cleo has Osteoarthritis, Cleo died while trying to climb through the pool fence idk why but just so you know this is 1 month after i commented about Cleo having Osteoarthritis.

But what if your cat is blind? My little baby has lost his sight as he aged and usually when he meows calling for me, it's because he's trying to find me because he can't see me which is why I usually meow back to him or walk over to him and he chirps when he feels my touch. His blindness is also why he is not as active as he used to be (he can't see the toys). Usually, now, he'll just play with my fingers by batting them around when I gently poke his feet or if I dangle something near him so he can feel it and try to bat it. He spends the majority of the day with me (he always has) sometimes awake and purring sometimes sleeping (sometimes he likes to rest his little head on my wrist) and if I'm not there, he'll go over and lay in my laundry basket for my scent. On the last trips to the vet we made for him, the vet told us besides his eyesight, he is one of the healthiest cats he's seen for his age. So he is old, but he does most of the things on this list because of his lost eyesight.

    • @Fluffyplanet
      @Fluffyplanet  Год назад +1

It's heartwarming to hear about your cat's unwavering love and resilience despite his blindness. He has a special bond with you, relying on your presence and the comfort of your scent. His adaptive playfulness, like batting your fingers and cherishing your touch, shows his remarkable spirit. It's a testament to your care that he remains in great health for his age. His meows are his way of seeking connection and guidance. Your cat's story is a beautiful example of the enduring bond between humans and their feline companions, illustrating that love and understanding transcend any obstacle, even loss of sight. ❤

A few years ago, I lost the cat that was with me through middle and high school. I was overworked and stressed and wasn't really paying him very much attention as a result. He was always a bit of an aloof and loner guy, always finding a new place to hang out for a month or so, so it didn't strike me as odd when he started hanging out in the downstairs bathroom - it was the middle of summer and there was an A/C in there so I thought he had just chosen the coolest place in the house to chill.
Turns out he not only had kidney failure, but anemia from fleas and an infection he had gotten out while I was at work a few weeks prior. My job was very much stressing me out, but That Thursday was peculiarly good up until I got off work. My dad told me that something wasn't right with him, as he was cold, thin, and the litterbox in the bathroom was clean that morning (Thursdays morning is trash pickup, so that means a whole week without anything). I had to say goodbye to my good friend on a strangely good day in the middle of a shit time a mere two days before my birthday. To see and feel his cold and frail body, watch him fight as he realized his end was coming. Warming him to the best of my ability in the cold vet's office. Stroking his head and watching as the shine faded from his eyes. It was the first time I'd ever seen something go, and something so close to me, it broke me. For days I'd walk downstairs and look to his most recent spots, expecting him to be there - only for a dull, hollow feeling in my stomach to open up as memory hit.
I have two other cats now and they're both delightful. But I still carry the guilt for not noticing with me to this day (moreso the infection, fleas, and anemia since kidney failure is just normal for old cats), and I vowed not to let the same thing happen again. Losing Gus was heart-wrenching enough; I don't know if I could bear that guilt again. Every year around my birthday, it's all I can think of. His memory still lives on, though, and I still have some scars on my arm and hand from playing with him to remind me. It might be strange, but it brings me some comfort to trace them, as he left marks on me not only emotionally but physically. These scars are proof that he existed, and that I loved him enough to endure the pain of playing with him (to be fair, my arm is covered in scars by multiple cats lol) time and time again. I kinda hope they never properly heal, as these scars are more personal than any photograph or video.

No. 13. Your cat appears to be losing its fur. Usually when the weather changes, say from winter time to spring, a cat will begin to lose it's winter coat. But what if you have more than one cat and only ONE of them is losing its coat? This could be an early sign of feline lukemia. There may not be much that can be done about this, but it's better to let the vet tell you that. They will also be very thirsty and become more and more lethargic. The bottom line on this is to never assume completely that the loss of fur is ONLY a seasonal thing.

    • @Fluffyplanet
      @Fluffyplanet  Год назад

You're absolutely right; fur loss in a single cat, especially when accompanied by increased thirst and lethargy, should never be assumed to be solely seasonal. It's vital to consult a vet for a proper diagnosis and early detection of potential issues like feline leukemia. Swift action can make a world of difference.

Having volunteered for a cat shelter, owned up to 5 kitties at a time, I knew their normal behavior, which differed with their personalities. My cats all lived into their twenties, having good care and love. They do let their person know when their time is near. My oldest at 25 was terrible lose. I slept on the floor next to him and kept telling him it was alright to pass. I had found him draped over his litterbox, too weak to get all the way in. He drank some water, not much. Could not tolerate food. That is a common sign cats' organs are shutting down. The best thing to do, is keep them clean and comfortable or take them to a vet ASAP. It was an awful snowstorm when Trouble, who was no trouble at all, died. Miss him and every act of kindness to reptiles and furry creatures is in his honour. Do know your cat's usual behavior. A deviation is a sign given to you that all is not well.

I didn't have a cat so I want to have a cat. Yes! Cats do love their humans, even if sometimes they have a funny way of showing it. In fact, they form strong attachments to their owners and display their emotions very similar to humans. Just like people, cats can show their love through understanding and concern for others. Why cats vomit? In fact, almost any feline illness can result in vomiting. In general, the causes of vomiting can be placed in one of these categories: toxins, drugs, diet (including eating inappropriate things), gastric (stomach), intestinal, organ dysfunction, endocrine, neurologic (typically brain-related), infectious and cancer. If blood in your cat's vomit is bright red, it is fresh and may have been caused by external trauma to the esophagus, such as swallowing a foreign object, or an oral condition. Darker blood may indicate issues lower in the digestive tract. Cats are not safe of dying in bad health 15 things cats absolutely hate
Smells. As a general rule, cats are sensitive when it comes to smells, but there are a few scents they hate that might just surprise you. ...
    Too much attention. ...
    Not enough attention. ...
    Medicine. ...
    Spoiled food. ...
    Competition. ...
    Loud noises. ...
    Tummy rubs.

These might have already been mentioned considering the age of the video, but the reddening of the gums near the tooth line as shown in the video is more commonly a sign of simple gingivitis. letting them chew on a toothbrush (rub catnip into the bristles) or even Greenies (a treat with a dental bonus) can help with that.
Also, excessive drooling can happen for a lot of reasons. I've had perfectly healthy cats that drool when they know its time for food, and even just when their very excited about being pet (enough to fill a shot glass)
Look for other health signs on top of those before you get too paranoid about them, the drooling especially, if they are newly adopted cats whose personal quirks you might not be used to yet.

One sign that your cat is likely dead is if it seemingly ran off somewhere, without reason, and didn’t come back. That happened with the cat my family and I previously had, died 2 days before my sister’s wedding, at the ripe old age of 21 (147 in cat years).

This was a few years or so ago but..
One of my moms cats (her name was Minni Mittins cuz her feet were white,as if she had mittons on) kept laying in the kitchen in front of the water bowl..and i noticed,so i sat with the cat until my mom got home...i told her about the cat when she got home (of course) so..the next day she brought the cat into the vet have her checked out...
...i hate that vet..why?...they misdiagnosed my moms cat..she (the cat) passed away a few hours later
But uh yea...we will never got to that vet ever again (and havent in years)

It's quite common for cats to be curious and want to join you outdoors. Your cat's meowing is likely just a way of expressing interest or wanting to be part of the action. As long as he's safe indoors, it's a healthy sign of his engagement with the world around him.

I still remember when I was seven and my cat died. He had kidney cancer that the vet couldn't treat, so he had to be put down. I spent my last moments with my cat petting his unconscious body and watching the vet put him down. It felt so empty.
Are we replacing our old cat when we get new ones...?

My one cat isolates herself, but she is still nice and toasty warm, and she still eats and meows up at me when she wants fresh water and the other cat is hyperactive like a kitten in nature and I can still get my old cat to play a little bit but she does sleep a lot she also wheezes when she snores or breaths through her nose and she is 10 years old and I am only watching this so that I will know the signs and know what to do when the time comes for my cat to go to cat heaven.

It sounds like you have a diverse duo of feline companions! It's heartwarming to hear about the unique personalities of your cats. It's great that your more senior cat is still engaging in some play and letting you know her needs. The fact that she's warm and enjoying her meals is a positive sign. Wishing you and your furry friends many more happy moments together! 🐾😺

@Fluffyplanet thanks I'm only doing this so that I won't miss it like how I did with my old cat that lived to be 25 years old and hung on a little bit longer to life before then dying of a mixture of a heart attack and a seizure that killed him his name was Frank. I still miss him, but I know that he is in a better place now up on the pet rainbow bridge waiting for me, along with Bob, my other cat, too, as is Smokey and Squeaky my aunt and uncle's cats and their dogs Gypsy and Buddy and other dogs that I have known that were a part of my family that have passed on from either old age or diseases. All of them were well loved and well taken care of.

I had a cat that died 2 days ago . She was born 6 months ago and she was quite social and that might be the thing that killed her . She was social with everyone and one day somebody kicked her very hard she kept meowing in pain whenever i tried to pet her , she didnt eat anything . I took her to the vet but later at night she died because of the unbearable pain she had to endure

It's important to consult a vet if your cat, Tinkerbell, is experiencing health issues. At 12 years old, older cats can develop various conditions. A professional can provide the best advice and care for her well-being.

Losing pets can be really heartbreaking. The reasons for the cats' deaths or disappearances could vary. It's possible that they faced health issues, accidents, or simply wandered off. Cats are known for their independent nature, and sometimes they explore beyond our expectations. However, if you'd like to know about why cats disappear, where they go and why they sometimes even run away, you can check out this video : ruclips.net/video/guU-Z8pL_R0/видео.htmlsi=F6hRBSBS5MwT6pQB
