Adrian, your cinematic grasp of video creation is top-notch! You use multiple cameras for some tasks, and edit the views like a professional film director. For example, the drilling of the hole in the calving pen back wall, for chain attachment. I do notice and appreciate the thought, effort and time that you exert in making these videos for us. THANKS! From Evelyn in Minnesota
name one of the calves martin willam david and billiard thanks adrain big fan of the channel
This is a good and cheerful video. Just what we need. Whilst my area is unaffected and life goes on normally, just a few hundred kilometres north of me, the people of Noto are still struggling in the aftermath of the New Year's Day earthquake. So 'Hope' was a good choice of name for their sake as much as it is for you and your farm. Good choice Adrian.
Hi Adrian I worked on a farm a few years ago and we put a tank in to collect rainwater but we had to get rid of it after a few months all it was doing was the wash down in the parlour and yard but we got a huge problem with E. coli mastics our vet and a guy that came out to check our problems sed it was birds droppings on roof washed in to tank was the problem bird shit with E. coli about 2 weeks after we stopping using rain water problem solved
Another perfect video Adrian, noticed Bailey and Hudson waiting to start work 😄 you will be pleasantly surprised how much water you’ll collect off the roofs. Wow first two cows to calf both giving heifers, very good start to the year 🍻
Adrian, the excitement in your voice shines through. You are a good caring person. 👍
Uniblock’s pre calver lifeline lick buckets say on the back of them WARNING DO NOT FEED TO SHEEP 🐑 You’re very lucky that you don’t have any sheep Adrian.
Calvin in Cavan. Great way to start the year 👍👍
Do you sell male calves and keep the females?
Adrian, i have a dairy cow question? If a cow has mastitis, but it only effects one teat, or two does that render the whole udder no good? Or can she still have functioning teats that will produce milk still? I figured since a cow has 4 teats and two are damaged can the others still function ok? I don't know too much about dairy cows or cattle in general, just wondering??
That's if and when you clear up the mastitis in the udder that is, will she still be some use?
Amazing video Adrian 👍♥️ New Year, new life with wee Hope and Sadie 🥰👍 I was lol at your quote from Crocodile Dundee 😂 Have a lovely day Adrian and family ♥️
The Cavan Calves are Calving 👍👍
Absolutely wonderful Adrian, certainly brings joy and warmth to the soul. Much needed on a cold day.
Hello from SWEDEN! I like your films and work! Ihave also Fergusons at my farm, 5455,4255,698,675 and ferguson -55 diesel.THANK YOU!
Adrian what do you do with the dirty straw, bad silage etc? I don’t see any dung heap with you
just brill two hefers yeah
It was me on the phone, i was just about to say you've got oil all over your hands 🤣
Your girls are great for helping out, fair play to them
Cow tags need some invoation or improvement they are very bad for breaking or getting lost and sure its not fair either having to handle an animal so many times just for a tag
Hi Adrian, another great video. You seem to be VERY accurate at predicting calving. It would be great if you could do an in depth video of what you see and feel when you know they're going to calve within 48/24/ 12 hours. I have a very small herd of beef shorthorns and tend to be thinking for days if not weeks they're about to pop. It would be very interesting. Thanks from Fermanagh!
the door hinges just add new washers onto the pins between the hinge tubes... sometimes when the door refuses to lift off or its too heavy i get a thick washer cut a slot out for the pin and then jack up the door slide the washer in nad tac weld it to one half of the hinge.
And so it begins. Super stuff Adrian best of luck for 2024 calving. 👍
Idea for your latch pin on your sagging door is bevel the end. Just enough so its starts in the hole. Love hearing you mention -4 degrees kinda warm in my books. -44 hear in northern Alberta. Add in the windchill becomes -51. Not a farmer, machine guy, but like the idea of the calf coat/cover. Be careful on the ice Sir. No rushing about.
Great start for the New year. Welcome Hope and Sadie 🎉. Can't wait for the upgrades to the digger 😊
Great video Adrian. Good start to the calving (Cavan) season. Long may it last 👍🏼. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video Adrian as always hi you’ve probably heard this one before what has someone from Monaghan got in common with a pregnant cow …. there both near Cavan 😜🤣
What a great 2 degree Fahrenheit morning to wake up and watch your sunny video this morning Adrian!! 6” of snow on the ground in MI and beautiful green in your fields! Love your videos and thank you again for sharing your days with us!! ❤
Best of luck with the calving Season. Great videos
Thanks
Best of luck with the calving Season ...............All your cows close to Cavan class lol
red label hypochlorite(ide?) is the job for killing andd cleaning the concrete, let it sit for an hour and wash all down. Concrete would nearly blind you after!!
We can only dream of concrete floors and yard space 😂
Thanks for the video!
Hi Adrian, I see your website is out of stock for mugs since before Christmas, any idea when you'll have them again? Thanks, and good luck with the calving
Fair play your farm is a credit to you. Everything is spotless. You’re on top of the every job! 👌🏻👍🏻
Adrian. Try Rays Concrete Grooving. He's a Cavan man. We got a good bit done. Would save a cow and more importantly a person from slipping 👍
Like the grinder Adrian I have one and it’s definitely worth the money, best of luck with calfing season
Hello from waikato new Zealand just found you on utube and love your videos wondering how many cow's you are milking
'Cormac Tagging'
Never look Back 👌
I think ive mentioned it before, if not, We had the pedigree Fenlea herd and a few of the cows were named after my brothers Ex girlfriends plus his Ex wife.
I write hours and date on new filters when changing them. Helps you remember (but then I am getting old) I then order a replacement so I have one on the shelf for next time.
Did you get the light changed an£ the power washing finished
jaysus ye never stop ! youre busier than a cucumber in a womens prison!
Gotta say lovely markings on that 1st calf
We find cormac tags better Adrian, they don’t lose them as easy
Well Hope is a good name for the new year on the farm.I hope it's a good one and a safe and healthy year for all your family and livestock.
Beautiful little hope for tge new season. I love watching your videos, I know this will be a busy January for you, hope all goes well.
hi adrian i had trouble with the tags falling out i switched to cormac tage a few years ago and not one of them fell out they are a godsend
its amazing adrain how we are goinging back to old ways in regards to harvesting water my late father's home house had a tank beside it to take the rainwater off the roof .good work as always lad hope you have a good calfing season
desperate times call for desperate measures
You should try a turbo head on your pressure washer they work way better
Ter no point putting.solar panel in wén u only àve 1 shéss
5 calves here in the last week, bit of a calm at the moment now 😂
Adrian, I asked you a good while ago if you captured rain water, given the high demands for (expensive) water on a farm. You mentioned your well and that you’d be giving some thought to it. You did a bit of well restoration, are you using it? Will you catch rainwater from the other shed roofs?
I still need to finish the well , I will film all. But yes within the next 1-3 years i will be harvesting the rain water from most of our roofs and using our well water if everything tests out ok.
@@IFarmWeFarm Thank you for the reply!
@@IFarmWeFarmRainwater makes power washing hell of a lot easier. Not sure why, but something to do with chemicals in the mains water.
The reason why power washing is easier is due to the head of pressure from the harvesting tank@@JamesMcAlea
That Algae can be very hazardous very well done, a lovely calf?
Brilliant great start to the new year Adrian 👍
Hi Adrian, have you ever tried using Mosgo green remover? I can’t recommend it highly enough. Spray it on the concrete(preferably in a dry spell) and let the rain do the rest. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Amazing watching this channel, but it’s seems like you could use some help, maybe turn that cottage into a bunk house for young men who want to learn as they work for you to learn this MOST VALUABLE WAY of life that is disappearing fast….
No farmers…
no food
no freedom
no Ireland
no future
Great choice of name Adrian... "hope" We all hope that everything goes well for ALL OF US...God Bless 🙂
Good pick! Hope couldn’t be better. This is an exciting time for sure. Thank you for sharing. 🐄
Hope was the perfect choice!!! I thought you would leave the calves with their moms for a few days at least. Wouldn't it be better for them not to be separated so quickly? I know the Funky Farmer would love having a parlor like yours!!
Get yourself a ibc cube for water for power washing great job
I did have one but I put it to close to the washer and the exhaust put a lovely big hole in it 🙈
That is definitely not ideal
New year, new life. Obviously Im not from a farming background so probably seems a rather simple question but is there a reason why “Hope” was separated from her mother?
The little boyish smile when you quoted Crocodile Dundee. Stay young. Congrats on the new calf.
Whats not to like, cow's giving birth on Adrian's farm, going to be a busy time fore the whole family bet the girls love feeding the calves after all who wouldn't. 👍
14:48 No shame at all.
Adrain, i love your videos i know your a father with a few little girls and my father is the same im 13 and he is a father of five girls i love watching u and i was very busy this summer helping him ,but i just want to say that i hope ur little girls grow up to be like you and teach them to be hard workers hope ur doing well happy late new year.
Lovely episode !!
How long do the calves stay with their Mum before you move them ?
Hope is a great name for the first born. There is always hope fore the new year. She is oddly marked, nothing like her mom. Do you use a bull or artificial insemination? I have notice that a lot of farmers on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean used a bull a awful lot. Curious as to why that that is.
I sure hope you have calves that can go to market for extra money. I am sure you can use the cash.
Aidan, happy new year and best of luck for 2024. A nice name for next heifer calf Luna....❤
Fantastic with the new calves. Let’s hope that the world becomes a little more peaceful. 👍🏻😎🇨🇦💪🏻☘️
Congratulations on your healthy calf's
Another great video Adrian and family 👍
Lovely calves. Great ideas for catching rain water for reuse and also switching to LED lighting. 👍😊👍
These idiot weather forecasters seem bemused that were getting -8C this week, it’s winter in Scotland so what do they expect 🤷♂️
The weather here today is 0 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of minus 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Burr!
'Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies' - the Shawshank Redemption.
Best of luck with calves...how long do you wait after a cow has calved to sell her milk ? Call the next calf ARVA!
Hope, yea very appropriate, especially after last year, we have a pedigree herd so everyone gets a name usually they have a maternal family name and their fathers name so for example we have pivotal Gertie 27 which means she is the 27 th female in the cow family Gertie and her dad was pivotal, when I was picking the cow family names we used the names of my gran aunts ( only some were cows the majority were lovely ladies, only joking they were all lovely) just thought it was nice to have the old names around us still and they were long gone so we were not offending anyone. Ever considered going pedigree?
Adrian did you ever try wet and forget? Great for keeping yard clean and keeping the algae away. Just spray on and the rain will do the rest. Leaves yards very easy to clean. Clarkes in cavan stock it
Wishing you and your family a safe, happy and prosperous 2024.
Did you drain the 2 sump bungs Adrian! The 4 wd shaft means there's a track in the sump and oil lies on both sides.
Well Adrian, Lovely weather, another year , hope its a good one Lovely farm, great heafer calf , bit of a stretch in the evening, great video, chat soon kieran from Laghey donegal town
Good one sir... yer busy as usual.. the extra work is starting for ya already 😮😊. Stay safe 🏴
Nice video. Would there be 2 sump stud s on your tractor when u were changing the oil. Left and right??
Put a washer between the hinches greetings from Holland
Hi Adrian,do you like the Hogg wellies?
Just ok, very hard to get off and very slippy on wet concrete. I liked the Dunlops puroforts but unfortunately I had to buy a new pair every 3 months as they kept leaking.
Hi,happy new year ,do not spray concrete hyper chloride that keep concrete perfect no slime
Cracking choice of name, Happy New Year Adrian.
The best of luck with the calfing it hard to be up day and night for next few weeks the best of luck 2 heifers off good start
I get so much inspiration from your channel.. Bought my first heifers in July and now have 18 Thank you Adrian 👍
Are you starting a milking farm or beef?
@@karolschulz48 Beef farm
Great start to the year Adrian, Healthy calf and cows, can't ask for any better, keep at her Lad!
I'm excited to see new calves being born this year on your farm! I wonder how many Heifer calves you'll get this year? Exciting!
Watch if you put in a rainwater collection system as avian tb can be a big problem in some areas.
Really enjoyed tonight’s video. Just lovely
Brintons Patio Magic twice a year via knapsack sprayer will sort that bloom and algae out
I think hope is beautiful, it's a new year new life all things good to come ❤
Brilliant video nice to see it dry for a change Adrian nice looking calf there Adrian 👍👍👍👍
Best of luck with everything on the farm ahead next week 👍👍👍
Hope is a well chosen name. But, Moodini made me laugh out loud.
Brilliant Adrian love the channel and the humour, thank you for the entertainment🫡
Lovely start to the new year Adrian. Wishing you and yours all the best.
