You had to talk to the citizens to save them. Also...you missed the cherry on top of the tragedy sundae by not staying to listen to the night elf priestesses choosing to stay to burn to death with the tree.
I JUST SAVED ASTAARI from the Maw in Shadowlands! It remembered her name when I saw her!
There is a NPC that returns everything to its former looks. Don't remember the name of the NPC but she stands were the last quest ended in the forest before the change. You can change the look back and forth.

Some folks just do not remember stuff, but his personality is addictive, Just can't help but love the guy, because he just has a fun side about him, and never seems to have a bad day. He is mostly about PVP not so much about raiding or quest lines and the story told. Was not till the last couple years did he really start getting into the lore. Just wait till he see "Old Soldier", you know he's going to be tearing up. Just forgive his ignorance, and enjoy who he is.

Honestly I felt nothing when it was burning. Only objection I have is that it was unnecessary and dishonourable. I felt more emotion when Varian died.

Especially when your first ever character was a Night Elf, such wonderful memories of doing quests lost.
Eris Meredith no doubt that's what made Swifty cry, from his old videos his first character was a Nelf, so he obviously has sentimental ties to Teldrassil.

Swifty...Sylvanas burned down the whole damned tree that was the home of the night elves. So their main city Darnassus, their entire racial starting zone, and the secondary level 5 - 15 questing area.

Even though I am primarily alliance, I always admired and respected Sylvanas for her heroic life, her tragic death, her resurrection as cursed banshee and her fierce loyalty to the forsaken, but this I cannot condone, she is leading the horde down a dark path, and I am so very disappointed in her.

If you did that quest as a Horde player you would know that Sylvanas led the assault to take back the Undercity. It was varimathras who was behind it and he fled after being defeated.

Don't worry Swifty, there's a bronze dragon on Darkshore that'll dephase it if you want to go back to old Darnassus. Take a flight path though, don't fly across: it's still a bit buggy I guess and there's a chance your fatigue bar won't go away ._.

So in Shadowlands Elune says she sent the souls from the burning of the world tree to Ardenweald which means she either caused or allowed it but all the souls went to the Maw. Clearly Sylvanas is responsible for the tree burning though. How is Elune claiming to have played a role in this. Please help.

Im confused, I get the event is over but I went to Teldrassil and Darnassus the other day. What point does the map change and it say ruins of Darnassus and all that? Or is it just like that event never happened? When I reach a certain part of the expansion will it change on the map?
