How do you guys manage to watch TV shows with extreme sex scenes? Doesn't it give you ptsd (idk what to call it)? When I watch movies or shows on Netflix I skip the shit out of the sex scenes part. Im at a point where I still watch porn. I just wanna know how you guys handle it if I ever consider in stopping this addiction.
@@saprissa9 Hmm that is a good question actually. Personally I did the same thing as you and just skip them. Right now I am at point that I believe I could see a scene in a TV show without making me spiral back into addiction or cause cravings because after all they are not actual porn scenes and it has been quite a while now since I recovered. Of course I am still gonna look to avoid those just to be safe. But you did remind me of the struggle while I was recovering. For example after my worst and longest flatline came a period of intense cravings and libido where even the mildest erotic scene would cause me struggle. I managed to resist only to go into a second flatline however this one lasted a lot less. As you progress through recovery flatlines become shorter until they are completely gone and so do the intense cravings for pornographic material. It comes and goes in waves, or at least that is how it was for me. Hope this helps.

She was the first person I ever told. And I did it because at the time she was very sick and I needed her to know that I loved her and that my shame and social anxiety were the real reasons I didn't visit as much as I should've. She never once judged me for my problem and was so warm and nurturing about it. I beat myself up for not talking to her about it sooner and not coming around more often but she told me "Don't say that. No matter what I will always be with you." After that day I kept visiting her to let her know I was doing something about my problem. I now see a professional every other week. I'm still not totally perfect but I am trying. My progress and optimism about this problem made her smile and she told me that I will be fine. Grandma passed away on Oct. 24 at 11:22 p.m. And on the worst days when I beat myself up for being a horribly absent grandson I just keep remembering what she told me and how understanding she was. And it's pulled me from the worst thoughts about myself. I would've never gotten that closure if it weren't for you, brother. I have never been so grateful to a person I've never met. Noah, from the bottom of my heart, thank you man.
Incredible story, I'm so glad you got that time of honesty and closeness with her! I had a similar experience with my own grandmother who died this year. When she fell and got a bad head injury I spent the night in the hospital with her and was the last one to speak with her, getting the chance to comfort her in her last moments lucid. I'm very glad that I was there for her then and in the last couple of years, though I was more absent in previous times. Good on you. Keep moving forward!

Doing cold turkey for both is really hard and I always end up failing. So i've got another plan I hope you will correct me if it is really bad. If possible, I recommend at least getting to the point where you’re able to have consistent satisfying sex in person before opening this door and exploring this option, but some people in long-distance relationships want to do this prior to full recovery, which is their choice. It’s not the “same” as porn use, but you should be very mindful of how it affects you. If you start to notice increased cravings for porn or a loss of some of the benefits of recovery, you should probably stop at least for now.
