Just two short years ago, Unitree astounded the world with the Go1 quadruped #robotdog a fusion of performance and affordability that sent ripples through the legged robot market. Now, in an announcement that echoes far beyond the borders of innovation, China has unleashed the #unitree Go2, a dynamic quadruped #robot that defies expectations and pushes the boundaries of possibility. Imagine a robot that moves with the grace of a ballet dancer, navigates with the precision of a seasoned explorer, and all the while remains incredibly budget-friendly…
    Go2 - Performance and Features
With the introduction of the Go2, Unitree boldly ventures into uncharted territory, raising the bar for quadruped robot capabilities. The Go2 isn't simply an upgrade; it's a transformation that redefines what a robot dog can achieve. Its enhanced speed, agility, and overall performance set it apart as a remarkable successor to the Go1. Central to the Go2's capabilities is the incorporation of a 360-degree hemispherical lidar system. This technology revolutionizes the robot's navigation and obstacle avoidance, enabling it to interpret and adapt to its surroundings with unparalleled precision. A minimum sensing range of 0.05 meters highlights Unitree's meticulous attention to safety and operational accuracy. Technical specifications showcase the Go2's prowess: it effortlessly attains a brisk 2.5 meters per second and supports a 7-kilogram payload. Operating on an 8000 milliamp-hour (mAh) battery, the Go2 extends its capabilities for up to 2 hours. These specifications culminate in a robot that seamlessly marries performance, endurance, and efficiency.

I think putting the LIDAR underneath the chin of the GO2 bot was a nice idea. With regard to using it as a guide dog, they could pair the bot with a bracelet that is worn by the user so it can keep track of the them and help them.

One improvement that is needed is an articulating spine. Such and addition will add allot to mobility and speed of operation. Any look at quadrupled animals and how they move it can be seen that the spine is a intrical part of the ablity of the animal to move. As to bipedal movement humans may not be the best model. I kind of think birds and dinosaurs are better models. Here we have vastly longer periods of evolutionary time perfecting the design. Like a Tyrannosaurus Rex design with a tail might be a much more efficient setup. Again with spine and neck to add to efficent locomotion. As to the future hopefully these things won't eat us.

I live in China and could order and have one in a few days. I teach English and thought this would be an amazing thing to help me. But No, it can not do any translation and the English it speaks is terrible so completely useless for my purposes. As just a movement based robot it is great but the utility is rally let down even though it is just simple software missing from it.
