SRV passed away, just down the road from us at Alpine Valley. Stevie had Soul. He made it look so Easy....
Excellent job all around, but that performance by Sam was jaw-dropping. Great to see Austin getting to do some quality thumping and Charlie was very impressive on the drums.

I absolutely love everything LLB, as well as Stevie. This is the first time I've ever had a critique. As a guitar player, Stevie usually had a harmonizer in his guitar chain (set at up one octave higher), and along with the punchy presence of a Dumble, his tone was unmistakable. I'd love to see the mix of this track remixed, giving the guitar more "Stevie-like" punchy tone. Love you, LLB 💜
Blown away by Austin's bass playing, he is a talented guy. And the younger Vandemark did himself proud on the drums as well. Solid rhythm section.
So how do you do it? For years now you find these players who can reproduce songs of particular artists so well. In this case you needed someone who could play and sing Stevie Ray. "Does anybody know anyone who can play SRV?" The call goes out and you always find them. And apparently mostly n your local area.
One of the things I have always enjoyed about the LLB is your friends and family approach where you fill the sound spectrum with multiple guitars, keyboards, vocalist, etc., but here you choose the simple 3-man approach that was perfect for this song. Any more would have cluttered up the simple, but powerful sound. Once again, nobody does it better than LLB!
I like how the guitarist added his own touch to the lead parts. Refreshing.

Been playing this song most of my life - I really appreciate how Sam didn't go note for note, he kept the structure and added a lot of personal touch in the solo sections, just as Stevie did in live performances. I wasn't ready for how much his voice sounded like Stevie, though! Also, big kudos to Whipper Jr back there on the drums, kept it nailed down perfectly the whole time. This is really solid stuff!

SRV is the only person I always have problems when someone tries to cover him. He was so singular that there really isn’t a way to cover him. This is really good try. There will never be anyone who could play a guitar like SRV.
