I see how much jam you used and think to myself, "that's not enough". Would it be a bad idea to use more jam or a lot more jam? I'll be giving it a go anyway. It looks very similar to a dessert we would have got in Primary School back in the 70's, the base was just shortcrust but the topping was what you made, which makes me think, of my Grannies apple tart which had that type of pastry. Ha ha, now you've started me on a food based nostalgia trip. Cheers Ntsako.😀👍
Personally I like a lot of jam ,especially when I make individual batches, basically less sugar on the dough and lots and lots of jam… thank you soo much for sharing your story
You made them like my Ouma did......long ago in Zb....Lebowa Kgomo.....! But my favourite was the Apricot tarts......Apelkoos tertjies. Small half moon shaped like a little pie......with jam inside. I could finish 10 pieces with coffee in morning
In the beginning after she made the dough, she divided it into 2 and popped one half into the fridge. Once she was done with spreading of the jam, took dough out fridge and used a box grater to grate the dough over the jam
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hey ,red jam slaps hard .,na loko no nwa tiya , loko yova na xinkwa na jam ya red ,I'm a happy girl🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I hope you enjoy the recipe, thank you for watching.
Hi would love to try this recipe, pls can you let me know what size baking dish you used, also at what temp to bake and is the baking powder 3 teaspoons or 3 tablespoons, thanks
That’s a 30 x 18 dish the butter is enough for a 35 x 20 cm dish just roll it thin It’s teaspoons Mine was 160° depending on how hot your oven cab gets just start with the lowest temperature then heat must be on both top and bottom for the first 15 minutes then increase to 160°

Although not the British version of Jam tarts, these sweets here are known as 'Linzer Slices' in the Germanic speaking countries.

Hi Ntsako, what are you sprinkling on top of the jam? Didn't get that😊
In the beginning after she made the dough, she divided it into 2 and popped one half into the fridge. Once she was done with spreading of the jam, took dough out fridge and used a box grater to grate the dough over the jam
You know you're Tsonga when you use red jam 😅

You can use some walnuts or some apple
As a crumble, no it will get very soggy, maybe without a base just apples then dough , but the walnuts yes
Oooooooh yes 💕😋😋😋
👌👌🌹🌹
Can these be made in advance and frozen in both uncooked and cooked state?
Only in uncooked state , for not more than 3 months ,
💖
Do I cut them into squares before baking or after baking?
Right after baking once they cool they become hard you won’t get perfect square ( always cut when they hot )
Cut after baking
Can I have the recipe plz,Thank you ❤
Please look at the first comment pinned it’s the full recipe
👌👌👌👌

How does one increase the normal recipe if you want to do more
How much more do you want to make.? How many litres
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Nice
Thank you
Can i use a little bit vanilla essence?
Yes you can 1 tablespoon will do but if you want them to be pure vanilla taste use vanilla extract 1 tablespoon it's amazing
Hi! I don't have baking soda, can I still bake the tarts without it?
You can use self raising flour it does not need baking powder
If you use cake flour they will become hard rock like rusks ,so it needs baking powder
Baking soda my dear but thanks, I baked without it and they were good
🎉
Is it 3 teaspoons or tablespoons of baking powder?
Tablespoons
Pls can u tell me how much flour
3 cups of flour
1 teaspoons of baking powder
Can i make it without baking soda?
Yes you can , it will be more crunchy and last weeks
What flour do you use and how much is it in grams? I really want to make these today, Please kindly reply ❤
I’m sorry I took long to reply
I used sasko cake flour
240g is 2 cups
@@cookwithmentsakot it's okay and thank you
How much wil you ask if you sell this
R5 each
May i ask what type of butter you used?
I used Rama original
Shelf life in room temperature 🌡 ?
1 week half closed container
