appreciate this. Great video! Just one small point though. Unless I misunderstood something, at 2:57 the fingering goes to 0124 (not 0134 like to see in G strings for the non-flat notes) where finger three is actually F sharp and C-sharp on the last two string ( D,A respectively).
It is so hard to start as a beginner when you are an adult, but it can be the very best thing for you and for your child! Look for a teacher near you! Perhaps you can rent an instrument from a music store nearby? Good luck!
Funny. The cello has the same string pattern as the Violas. Our lowest note is a C. And yet we are in Alto Clef. Now, I now how to read Bass clef. Thank you Angela.
i’m trying to learn both viola and cello, already learned viola to fullest and i’m starting cello now. don’t think it should be too hard because it’s only an octave lower than alto clef
Yes! Good catch! It’s a flaw in my chart. 😉 Most beginner cellists start with F# and C# (so use 3rd finger on D and A strings)... but those sharps are not marked in my chart 😬. Something I’ve wanted to fix in this video for a while!
Great question! To keep the video more simple, I didn’t include ALL the options for flats and sharps and naturals. So every finger is not included in this video.
I used to play the cello for 14 years and randomly forgot. this was more helpful than all of those lessons

I always remember the notes GBDFA as Good Boys Do Fine Always. Thanks for the tutorial. I'm trying to learn myself.
This was PERFECT!!!! I just started and my instructor is AWESOME but I was still struggling
I still suck at reading notes but thank you for taking the time to make this video!
imaging, thank you soooo much!!!! Im just a mum of 3 y.o. boy who loves cello so much and have no idea how I can start.

This was fabulous! Thank you. Switching from a lifetime of treble to bass cell is oof.

I LOVE this! You are so talented! I'm not new to instruments but new to cello. This was SO wonderfully helpful! Thanks.
GREAT VIDEO, thank you for doing this way for us . BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the work ❤️ question: aren't the fingerings on the D and A string 0124 (instead of 0134 for C and G string)?

Im a flute player. I want to pick up cello as its as much of a dream as playing flute was, but learning a new instrument is hard at any level.
Very well done, thank you
That was amazing presentation

Love it ❤️❤❤❤❤
Agree. I can see that children would love this!!!
Thank You !
Why finger 2 is not there?
This helped me so much
At my age, maybe, if I slow this waaaaaaaaaay down, I'll get it. I think my 5 minutes should be more like 15. LOL
Im getting my first cello soon
Hope you and your cello keep making music together forever!
